My lunch: Roasted squash sandwich and small cappuccino. The flavors are amazing.

After reading the reviews, I had to stop here when we were nearby. I got their roasted squash sandwich with a cappuccino for lunch and a loaf of VT wheat for later. The folks that work there are very friendly and helpful. The sandwich was amazing! Messy to eat but a wonderful combination of flavors. The coffee was so good I ended up purchasing a pound of beans as a gift for my husband. If you are in the vicinity of this bakery, definitely check them out.

We found this bakery after several restaurants in Northampton swore by their bread. It's unassuming from the front - it's located on what must have originally been a beautiful bustling street, a few doors down from a chain grocery store, and a few tables and chairs for outdoor eating. The interior is a well oiled machine - a place to order, and long tables to pick up your bagged orders. There's even a water station. The food is delicious - I will one day recover from the pickled jalapenos that somehow got on my egg sandwich because the rest of the ingredients were amazing. The roll was very crumbly, so prepare napkins. Place an order for one of their loaves of bread, because they will make a perfect accompaniment to your dinner or lunch during the week!

Ham and Middlebury Blue Cheese Sandwich

This place is a true gem. When I hear "artisanal" and "local" buzzwords, I tend to be skeptical, but Small Oven delivered way above my expectations. Ham and Middlebury Blue Cheese Sandwich: Super delicious! I believe this was served on their own sourdough bread, and it made all the difference. The ham was fresh and plentiful, and the pickled onions added a really nice touch to the overall flavor. The blue cheese was really creamy/smooth and tasted high quality as well. This comes with potato salad or sweet greens (add ~$2 for greens). I had the potato salad which was tasty and had plenty of veggies, but I would add something to make it a little creamier (minor suggestion). Vegetarian Croissant: Really good as well. For just ~$3, we could not resist. The croissants here are some of the best we have had (ever?? perhaps); they are slightly crunchy and flaky on the outside, with a light and buttery inside, as you would typically want with a croissant. The cheese and kale were good additions. One suggestion would be to try spinach instead of kale, as spinach tends to provide more flavor. Ham and Cheese Croissant: Same croissant comments here. Very good addition for ~$3. Highly recommend adding either croissant to your meal. The ham and cheese went well with the croissant. Relative to the size of the croissant (pretty large), there could be a bit more cheese and ham (this goes for the vegetarian croissant as well), but otherwise no suggestions. It was a fairly cold day and I decided we would have homemade soup for dinner. The first thing I thought of to go with a delicious homemade soup is a fantastic loaf of delicious bread. I stopped by small oven and picked up two loaves of fresh bread. I picked a cranberry walnut and a sourdough. Both were crusty and chewy with delicious flavor. Great with the soup. Also great toasted. The people there were very nice and helpful and I would highly recommend.

Simple Parisian breakfast. Not shown- already scoffed down chocolate croissant

I stumbled upon this place by happenstance and oh man- yes- it is SO GOOD! Thank goodness for Serendipity. This was the precious, delicious, unsuspecting cafe I have been looking for: 1) UnREAL baked goods. The chocolate croissant was still warm and delightfully flakey 2) My breakfast was simple, well seasoned, and very satisfying. The greens were lightly dressed and the eggs & tomatoes had the right amount of salt and pepper 3) the environment was very unpretentious and was quite calm and quiet despite there being at least 7 customers there (it's a small space) and an open kitchen/bakery. One baker was making buns and other some kind of fondunt. 4) Homemade ginger lemon iced tea Looking forward to coming back!

I can't speak enough about them owning the breakfast sandwich game far and near, but they make amazing cakes as well!!! That cake was delicious and beautiful. Thank you for the quality in all that you do.

It takes way too long to buy food. Over 45 minutes for 3 items sitting in the case to be bagged and handed to me.

This means, that the coffee you get here is going to be Catalpa roasted beans, but with a higher selection of "fancy" pastries. (The apricot croissant I had was very very delicious. ) I do not love Catalpa espresso as much as Shelburne Falls coffee, because it has a very sweet taste with a bitter finish, I prefer something that is more of an earthy or mellow light roast. Just smelling the ground coffee makes you think of something flowery and sharp. They have limited breakfast sandwiches and a few drink specials that remind me of what they have over at Catalpa . Unfortunately, because all three stores are linked, that means none of them have soy milk anymore, which is my go to espresso add-in. It is even still on the sign at the counter. The staff is friendly, and it's at a nice spot near where Shelburne Falls used to be. Their main advertisement is their croissant, so four stars for having a super delicious croissant. For not having any seating, and advertising soy milk and having any, one star deduction.

Got an almond croissant and it was very dark on the bottom - so disappointed. Cookies were good but expensive. They used to have such a variety of pastries and other baked goods. Now, it is hit or miss. Whomever is baking the croissants needs some training. Got a spinach feta croissant which used to be a favorite of ours, but was almost black on the bottom/inedible. Looked ok in the case. So sad this bakery no longer lives up to the standards it set in the past.

So much good here: Amazing pie, kind staff, cutest vibes, and lots of outdoor seating and a fair amount of indoor seating. I stopped in the Saturday before Easter and they were a little low on baked goods (no actually pie left sadly) but I still snagged myself one of the custard key lime pie bites. It was SO good. I would get it again in a heartbeat. Perfect coconut crust, amazing custard. It was delicious. We also grabbed a few iced coffees that hit the spot.
