Great service & great food, would def recommend. Had lots of options and really nice selection of sides.

A substandard ham and Brie sandwich from the Black Sheep - a sliver of a slice of tomato, almost no lettuce, and a small piece of Brie.

The Black Sheep in 2024 have redeemed themselves by making a sandwich correctly, plenty of ham and Brie, lettuce and tomato. They had a quality control problem in the past with very little main ingredients included (see past picture and review). Glad to see someone has their eyes on the shop again. Great place to have lunch.

I really liked the aesthetic of the coffee shop. It was very clean, cozy, and the food looked great. We went on a Sunday, and there was a group of people setting up for a jamming session. The noise level was alright, but I feel like it would be a good place to study if you have noise-canceling headphones. I ordered an iced americano and a chocolate croissant. The ice americano was great, not dilute and had the good kind of bitterness that pairs well with sweets. The chocolate croissant wasn't what I expect. I liked how it was in the shape of a croissant rather than a pain au chocolat, however the texture was more cakey, like a brioche. Normally croissants are very butter and flaky, so it was strange to me. The flavor was still great and had the good amount of chocolate filling. It was just the texture that threw me off.

    The New Yorker (toasted)

Thinnest deli sandwich I've ever had. Definitely not worth $15. I had the New Yorker, toasted and while edible, it wasn't very tasty. Took over 30 minutes with four staff behind the counter (I think one person in the back was handling online orders like mine). The restaurant was not busy, about a third full. Only a few take out orders waiting when I got there and I waited about 10 minutes before mine was up. None of the staff looked up or said anything and just two of the four appeared to be working while the other two chatted.

The Black Sheep was one of the first places I ever ate in Amherst in the spring of my senior year of high school when my mother took me to Amherst to visit the University. We're talking 1994. It's 2019 and it still looks the same in there including the employees and the clientele. I had some time to kill before I needed to be somewhere a block away on a Sunday morning so I put on my Patagonia vest and Birkenstocks and went it. I ordered a cup of hot tea and what I think was a coconut based vegan cookie. There was a fall chill in the air but it felt great to just sit there and watch people go in and out like I used to do. The cookie was delicious and anytime I'm ever in Amherst I'll be back.

Sandwiches, fruit, and cold pasta for lunch.

Waited 50 minutes for a sandwich, while sandwich makers gave preference to their friends. Very frustrating.

The still tastes good, with some exceptions. The frier oil seemed burnt, so the pickle chips we had just had that little bit of carbon taste on them. The pickle chips batter was very thick, and the mayo was the only respite. The sandwich, still tasty, seemed much smaller than normal, the meat still had good flavor, but the portion was lighter in comparison. The prices are also a bit high. The sandwich coming out to about 15 bucks. The bargain is very much gone now, and the portion is okay for a sandwich but pricy because of this shrinkage. Not shown are the overcooked onion rings. We returned those and the server promptly removed them from the bill. So really good customer service. I opted for a brownie for dessert, and the brownie was a disappointment. Too sugary, no flavor, gummy, and disappointingly small and thin. A detractor for sure. As a deli, it feels like it's on the decline. I know things are pricier now, but what you pay vs what you get doesn't match up. I'm hoping they pivot from this path, but right now it's no longer my go-to. It's still tasty, just pricy

First of all when we went to the counter to order the only person there was on a telephone call and it was a bit of an awkward wait, but we ordered. Amazingly, this kind of place does exist on Newton Avenue in Worcester. So, let me welcome you to Chan's Kosher Deli. Enter through the back door of the synagogue and you'll be in the sanctuary, but one of the firs things you'll see is an ordering counter with prepared foods in the showcase. We were greeted by a bearded jolly Rabbi who reminded me of Tevye from Fiddler on the Roof. He warmly welcomed us, went through the menu and took our order. And what a menu they have! Deli meat and salmon by the pound, your classic Kosher deli sandwiches, like pastrami, corned beef, salami, brisket, chopped liver, plus chicken, knishes, latkes, and of course matzah ball soup. We split a corned beef sandwich ($17.95), and I ordered a cup of the soup ($6). The sandwich was loaded with corned, piled high on fresh rye bread and served with a pickle, a side of cole slaw and little containers of mustard, Russian dressing, and garlic mayo. The sandwich was great, the meat was tender and juicy and full of flavor, the bread was very good, and the portion size justified the price. We split it between us, and it was plenty for a lunch. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with the soup which I felt was bland, flavorless and very fatty. But the matzah ball itself was awesome! Big and delicious. Overall, we really loved our visit to this unique restaurant that uses their revenue to support their summer camp program for local children.

They serve everything from sandwiches and grinders to pasta, wings, bread, cookies, wine, pasta salad and SO much more! It is a bit tight in there and it was hard to look at everything in the case because people were standing waiting for their food. I ordered a sandwich and mozzarella sticks. A few of the staff seemed grumpy. One girl was complaining loud enough for customers to hear and the lady that helped me seemed like she didn't want to be there. The wait time was a little long I thought considering how many people were working. The lady that rang me out was very nice. I thought the prices were really reasonable too. My sandwich was really good. I could tell that the deli meat was fresh. I grabbed fresh lemonade from the cooler and I'm so glad that I did. It was delicious!! I love lemonade. The grinders are hefty and worth the price and are made with Boar's Head product. The menu isn't too large but it makes picking easier plus there are specials. Inside the deli is a surprisingly cozy and rustic atmosphere and everyone working was very nice and polite. So far the Italian stallion and B52 steam bomb sandwiches are excellent (and tough to finish in one sitting) and the firesmith chicken was quite good as well. It will now be a regular spot for my work crew and for a satisfying lunch while out on Memorial Drive. I hope the word about this place spreads so it can be a local staple. The lot was small but many people were coming in and out so we didn't have to wait long to get a parking spot or outdoor seating. There are two shops: the deli and market with different vibes and items inside. The market is a quick shop with some snacks, drinks, coffee, and knickknacks. The deli is where the hot/cooked foods are at with some other specialty foods. The food was overall ok, nothing noteworthy. The main attraction is their Mac and cheese that had been circulating my IG feed. Don't think it's life changing but the shops have curated selections of local goods that are reasonable priced to get some last minute treats. Pass on the general tso(?) and the potstickers in my opinion unless you're really craving it. The desserts looked amazing and would definitely get one next time

We were able to get a spot in front with no issue, but I imagine that this was because it was a week day. We chose the Mac and cheese and the maple pulled pork. Both were worth the hype in my opinion. The mac and cheese was super creamy and paired well with the tender pulled pork. The baked goods were nothing to write home about. Maybe we just chose the wrong items? We tried: Oatmeal cookie - good, but not amazing. Chocolate chunk/ peanut butter cookie - stale as heck and basically inedible. I always am leery of saran wrapped cookies that are out on display because its impossible to know if there are actually fresh. The giant stacks of cookies were too enticing to pass up on. The chocolate cookie we purchased was definitely not fresh at all. $3.29 down the tubes - lesson on saran wrapped cookies learned (again). Carrot cake whoopie pie and original whoopie pie - both tasty, but the cake was too thick for my personal liking. We sat in the small outdoor seating area to eat. This was a nice little reprieve from the car ride.
