This establishment falls squarely on the cusp of three (3) and four (4) stars. It is good to see that reviewers on Yelp have better taste than reviewers on Google, where this restaurant boasts an impressive four and one-half (4.5) star average. That, my friends is perplexing. The food here is fine--it's not bad, but it is not exceptionally good. The low prices offset the below-average food quality. Starting with the food, that is to say the most important component in a restaurant, whether it be a "diner" or something else. I had the pleasure of sampling two items off the lunch menu: (1) the turkey, bacon, and cheddar melt and (2) the swiss and mushroom burger. Both were served with a so-called side of chips and pickles. This, of course, means two (2) slices of pickle plucked fresh from the jar. The sandwiches were perfectly good--very simple items that would be difficult to make disgusting. The burger was straight-forward and well done (no option to order a burger rare here, lest its flesh contain Salmonella!). The turkey melt contained five (5) ingredients, so it would have been disgraceful to mess up: bread, deli turkey slices, bacon, cheddar, and thousand island dressing. A tasty combination. The items were, however, wee in size. The turkey melt was approximately four (4) inches by four (4) inches with a thickness of five-eighths (5/8) of an inch. I did not have my caliper with me, so this is an estimate. The burger was slightly smaller in length and width, but larger in height. In a word, they were small. Perhaps sufficient for those with a measly appetite, but perhaps not for those who find themselves more voracious. The prices, which fell in the vicinity of ten (10) dollars, compensated, at least in part, for the small portions. The service was fine. Long live the teen waiter. The table had a swarm of flies above it the whole time, but so it goes. Foxtown Diner is a fine option for a quick lunch or breakfast (I have not tried their breakfast, perhaps it is higher in quality). Do not worry: you will be left with space in your stomach for dessert after.

Foxtown Diner's small-town ambiance is relaxing. It's where the locals eat. The servers are friendly and greet the regulars by name. Breakfast was good, although the omelet was a bit undercooked. The server was accommodating and the new one was perfect.

Nice little diner. I had a cheese steak on bulky roll with mushrooms that was great. Staff is very friendly.

We stopped by this small city to check out the flower Bridge. When walking past this place we noticed that there were a few people sitting inside already, so we decided to give this place a try. We ended up getting a tomato grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup and a burger. Both came with pickles and either chips or fries. Both were very cheap for what you got and it was also very filling. Sadly we didn't have room left over for dessert. They have a decent selection of pies and you can wash it down with a milkshake. This place is cash only... I really wish they changed it up and started taking credit cards... Maybe this is how they get their prices to be cheaper.. Since they won't get hit with the credit card processing fees. When we went there were only girls working. Not sure if they only hire girls or just that no guys were working when we went.

This is the cutest little storefront restaurant for breakfast and lunch. A local hangout with a good story about how it's still open. Great food and menu. There's just a little kitchen so food may take a minute to come out. Go early, there's likely to be a wait. You can chat and make some new friends while you're waiting

One of my favorite places for breakfast. It's a local crowd that enjoys the food. At lunch, they have great burgers and fries.

Pancakes are thick but flavorless. Would like to have had fresh veggies in the omelette. Home fries are delicious though.

Food- 4/5 Overall experience- 5/5…read more It was a fun spot to stop at to break up our drive back to Boston. The lot was small but many people were coming in and out so we didn't have to wait long to get a parking spot or outdoor seating. There are two shops: the deli and market with different vibes and items inside. The market is a quick shop with some snacks, drinks, coffee, and knickknacks. The deli is where the hot/cooked foods are at with some other specialty foods. The food was overall ok, nothing noteworthy. The main attraction is their Mac and cheese that had been circulating my IG feed. Don't think it's life changing but the shops have curated selections of local goods that are reasonable priced to get some last minute treats. Pass on the general tso(?) and the potstickers in my opinion unless you're really craving it. The desserts looked amazing and would definitely get one next time

We were able to get a spot in front with no issue, but I imagine that this was because it was a week day. We chose the Mac and cheese and the maple pulled pork. Both were worth the hype in my opinion. The mac and cheese was super creamy and paired well with the tender pulled pork. The baked goods were nothing to write home about. Maybe we just chose the wrong items? We tried: Oatmeal cookie - good, but not amazing. Chocolate chunk/ peanut butter cookie - stale as heck and basically inedible. I always am leery of saran wrapped cookies that are out on display because its impossible to know if there are actually fresh. The giant stacks of cookies were too enticing to pass up on. The chocolate cookie we purchased was definitely not fresh at all. $3.29 down the tubes - lesson on saran wrapped cookies learned (again). Carrot cake whoopie pie and original whoopie pie - both tasty, but the cake was too thick for my personal liking. We sat in the small outdoor seating area to eat. This was a nice little reprieve from the car ride.

Worst experience in Bennington! Do not patron if you enjoy…read moreany level of hospitality & actual value. I came in cheerful & this guy ruined the day... I ended up leaving angry and literally cried.... Their online ordering has a Reuben with an option for $2 extra meat & a note box so I cld have written there asking for the extra portion on the side. EASY. Yet, I went in person to see what the specials were hoping for a great lunch, because Im here for medical procedures at the hospital and had fasted since the day before. Id never been to The Elm Street Market before, but it was close to the hospital, & love Vermont markets for all the years I have lived here. But THIS place :: T E R R I B L E mistake! The employee at the counter was as fake & uncaring as it gets, & shld definitely not be the customer guy. He would not just let the added side be $2 , but wanted to weigh it out & charge me for a deli style $6 sliced side in a package as an addition to the $14 sandwich. ($20 Reuben?!) I said I didn't need or expect a package of sliced cold meat, that I was just adding the side portion to share with my pups. For Lunch. He just becomes patronizing, dense, & fully lacking capacity or willingness to help and says he "can't bc it just doesn't work that way" unless I get it on the sandwich. I cld order it online but not with him at register. And for some reason he cant figure out a $2 portion of meat. Surreal Incompetence. The next level of downhill not-so-fun is seeing the tiny soup. A cup of soup for $8. A latte "special" that I cld not even taste the smoked maple flavor and was only 3/4 full. It's actually shocking- what happened to actually CARING about just helping ppl have a good experience if you are working in the restaurant business as a small local independent market? Hey Elm Street Market Fella, you cld do the simplest things like not try ripping ppl off & being kind! His patronizing attitude & lack of capacity really took it over the top- how am I supposed to enjoy this $36 ordeal? Supposedly he is refunding the meat, bc I explained I didn't order a package of meat. He took it out of bag & literally said "take your sandwich & drink & go". I was upset~ I said this is truly unacceptable ~ try some Kindness & Authenticity! And left. The other young lady who was working that day & witnessed this whole debacle seemed to feel bad making 'Im So Sorry' faces. She at least offered me a dollop of maple syrup & noted the drink was not filled~ but also was being oppressed by his attitude. I cld tell he was being an overbearing tyrant. Wtf - this is NOT Vermont as it should be DUDE. All it took was putting a few slices on the side for $2 & filling up a drink. Ridiculous.

Awesome service even better food. They have a nice porch to eat on and picnic tables in the back…read more Def recommend !
