This was a very convenient stop alongside the road on the way to Shelburne Falls. Pretty average for the area. Nothing special about the pastries. Don't believe they were made in store since they had an appearance of a commercial bakery product. They do have some very nice coffee mixologies pretty unique to this location. Very friendly. Counters and tables could have more attention. They certainly have quite a few staff people on. Not a place I would go out of my way to but convenient for the location. read more

So slow. All the time. Everyone that works there is so slow. A coffee shop is a pretty simple concept. Customer orders a drink, pays for drink, employee makes drink, customer takes drink and sits or leaves. At this place, a customer orders a drink, pays for the drink, and the employees do seventeen other things besides make your drink, including stand and stare out the window. For the prices they charge a drink should be made in two minutes, especially when there are no other customers waiting for orders. I'm so tired of places like this acting as though you're doing them a favor by patronizing their business. Starbucks is just down the street and the drinks are cheaper and made quicker. Don't waste your time here. read more

Pricier than it once was but there's multiple locations. The workers are always friendly but I've heard poor things about working here which always makes me feel kinda bad. This place is SLAMMED in the mornings due to proximity to the route. I recommend the mixed berry scones always and my younger siblings love their fruit smoothies on the way to school. read more

I recently stopped for the first time on my way to Vermont. It's more of a takeout spot. I had a black cold brew and a pecan sticky bun. The pecan sticky bun had good texture and was tasty. The cold brew, which was a house blend, was about average. On food and drink, I'd rate Shelburne Falls a 3.5, but since service was friendly, I'll round up to 4 Stars. read more

So cute! Great outdoor seating. I went twice over two days. Tried a latte, maple cold brew, baked goods, and an egg sandwich. All were amazing, but I was particularly happy with the breakfast sandwich. It was much better and cheaper than the last 10 or so coffee shops I've been to 100% would recommend! read more

For a little place on the side of the road, it has amazing food and coffee. Went twice in the span of two days and was not disappointed either visit. The bagel sandwiches are made with fresh bagels and have veggie sausage options (highly recommend the Buckland sandwich, the little bit of maple syrup elevates every bite). I'm normally not a coffee fanatic however the toasted coconut nitro was so good that I have strongly considered purchasing a tiny nitro keg for my household. Perhaps it was the strong coconut flavor or the healthy (?) layer of caramel at the bottom of the cup but sips of this drink definitely hit different. Not sure if the drink is seasonal but I definitely recommend it! However on our second visit, my girlfriend and I ordered 4 sandwiches total and 1/4 sandwiches were correct (incorrect bagel selection + normal sausage when veggie sausage was requested); they were definitely still edible and delicious though. Not very COVID safe with a small inside area but they do have a few chairs outside. I'll definitely swing by every time I'm passing through. read more

We came to the Berkshires for another round of leaf peeping and came to this shop again. Covid precautions are still followed including a town mandated mask mandate. Coffee was delicious as I remembered, ordered pumpkin spice decaf cold brew and my husband had a hot black coffee. My minor complaint from last time still applies now, there is no menu until you get to the counter. But may be helpful to have one at beginning of line. We stood in line for at least 5 minutes so we could have been trying to decide earlier so we wouldn't hold anyone else up, same goes for pastries in case facing the other direction. Obviously this is only for COVID because you would most likely use the now exit door as entrance. But since it's been a year may be something to consider. They were understaffed this time which is understandable as most businesses are struggling. I did have to wait 10 mins for my cold brew which was interesting since it was just poured into cup and didn't have to be crafted like an espresso beverage. Still a good stop for good coffee just be mindful it may be a wait. read more

My go-to for breakfast sandwiches and coffee on my way to work. Pastries are solid and some switch up flavors depending on the day of the week. They're not "gourmet" and they don't try to be, but the rotating drinks and food specials keep it interesting. I love that I can place my order on the mobile app and pick it up. Sometimes there is a bit of a wait, so don't come here if you're already late and get snippy with the baristas. read more

Staff is extremely impolite. As with many business in the horror that is the last few years, the staff here seems to feel that being rude to customers is okay now. Staff members/ baristas seem more concerned about punishing perceived contrary sociopolitical ideologies than what the establishments purpose is. The place is a COVID-19 incubator. They have removed tables in the seating area due to the pandemic, but those spaces are now occupied by shoulder-to-shoulder people standing around talking and waiting to (or for) their order. It was a cool 71 degrees today and not one window or door was open while hordes of people stood inside chatting making it impossible to move. Everyone was wearing the state mandated mask (which is why I gave them one star) but the total lack of effort on the part of management/owners to limit the number of breathing bodies standing and waiting and talking in this place creates the greater risk of viral transmission, as masks/bandanas are limited in their ability to prevent the spread of the corona virus in small confined spaces like this. The best prevention is social distancing and limiting the numbers of people in any small place, which this is, and keeping people outside as much as possible. This has not dawned on these folks. Disappointing for Massachusetts. There was NO effort to ask people to order from any one of a number of (tightly closed) windows in this place and remain outside, or just limit the number of people allowed inside. Yet, the possibilities here are endless, they just don't seem to realize the danger. There's enough room around the building for tent covers for staying outside. There were none. Add to that the place was filled with people arriving in vehicles with license plates from MA, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and California! This place is a viral petri dish and a NEVER AGAIN destination for me. The place should be shut down by the state. read more

I went to this coffee place on Sunday and despite being an hour away, I went again today. Best coffee I've had in a long time. I tried the Vietnamese Coconut Cold brew and I fell in love. I also had the chicken pesto sandwich which was also very good. Only bad thing was that a package of 7 cookies cost $11?!? Other than that I have no complaints. On a recent trip back from the Bridge of Flowers 10k in Shelburne Falls, MA (which included what I call "Hill of Death"), I needed a pick me up for our drive back to Connecticut. I had passed by Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters several times on our way to various destinations farther north but this was the first time we stopped in. Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters is a local coffee roasting company that has a variety of freshly roasted coffees for purchase as well as an extensive menu of iced and hot coffee and espresso beverages. On this trip I had a large coconut flavored coffee (which was their coffee of the day) and Mark (aka the Running Czar) had a iced green iced tea. The coconut coffee tasted just like a frozen Almond Joy (without the calories) and was quite yummy. The taste was smooth and I could not taste any acidity, like some other mass produced flavored coffees I have tasted. I could definitely tell that it had a roasted flavor which also gave the coffee an added nutty complexity to it. This is something that one can only get through small batch roasting. In addition to the coffee and tea selection they have a variety of freshly baked pastries as well as sweet and savory sandwiches. Mark ordered the NOHO vegetarian breakfast sandwich on pumpernickel. I love pumpernickel bread and loved the taste of this bagel which I felt had the right amount of chewiness to it. I love bread that you have to fight a little bit with. If I ever attempt to tackle the "Hill of Death" again next year (and I might possibly because I loved the race shirt) I will know a great cup of coffee will await me after I cross the finish line. read more

I was out working in the area and thinking how awful it must be to live here......not a Dunkin Donuts for 15 miles and forget about finding a Starbucks. I almost passed this place by but I saw the sign for COFFEE and did a quick turn in. The place is an old house that has been converted into a coffee shop and bakery. It is very welcoming and the inside has a lot of charm. The staff of hipster hotties was super friendly and helpful. I got a cup of Mexican "something ecologically friendly" roast and after looking at the bakery items I decided I was hungry and ordered an egg and cheese on croissant. The food and coffee was a "10"- This place is awesome. I will definitely make this a stop when I am in the area! The only thing that almost pulled them down to 4 stars is that they have no Wi-Fi. We stopped here on the way back from cross country skiing in the Berkshires to buy just coffee. I was concerned about this place because on Yelp, I saw lots of pictures of flavored "coffees" such as hazelnut, coconut, ect. and lots of sugary coffee drinks such as "pumpkin spice latte" the founding archetype, the meme/sterotype yuppies with no refinement in their coffee taste. I took that as a warning that the coffee in general would be bad. When we stopped I became even more concerned when I saw a row of flavored coffees (hazelnut, ect) and a menu full of "pumpkin spice lattes and similar things. However, I really needed some coffee for the two hour drive to Boston, so I sat down with a cup of organic sumtran. Actually, despite the many over sugared offerings on the menu, their real coffee was very good. I give them four stars because I can choose not to order any pumpkin spice abominations and take one of the good options. read more

What a great little coffee shop on the Mohawk Trail! This past weekend I stopped in at this Shelburne Roasters instead of the shop in Greenfield. The store itself is larger and the staff here makes you feel at home which is a great change from going to a larger coffee chain. They also have an incredible selection of breakfast foods including phenomenal sandwiches, and the coffee here is flavorful. The only minor inconvenience about this location is that the ordering area is small which makes waiting in line tough. That being said, I will definitely be back in the future. read more

People of color, BEWARE ! The coffee is fine, but the baristas are extremely rude...They called my order out without saying my very simple last name aloud (which I shared upon ordering) so it was unclear whether it was my it order or not. When I went up to inquire, the barista just looked at me and rolled her eyes as if I'd done something wrong. Their pastries are so delicious I love the fruit turnovers, the triple berry scones, cookies, lemon pound cake! There are other tasty treat I can't wait to try. I live near by and really want to give this place a great review, but unfortunately I have to be honest about the service which is generally dreadful. The flow in SFCR is overly complicated, confusing and inefficient. Most customers essentially serve themselves after paying the cashier and bring handed a paper coffee cup. That system is fine, provided the customers already understand the "system" and none want anything different or any beverages that require employee intervention. If that happens, those simply wanting coffee are left waiting too long behind a line of customers requesting specialty beverages or food items. If a customer orders anything other than plain, self serve coffee -as I did today, when I asked for an iced coffee - God help you! It isn't pretty. I quickly ordered and paid for my iced coffee. After waiting five minutes for my beverage, I was told I was waiting in the wrong area. I asked where I was supposed to be. Once the system was explained, I apologized and moved over to the product fulfillment waiting area. I could see my order had arrived on the automated system, but the receiving employee paid no attention. She was fiddling with washing a nozzle on a coffee machine and ignored me and the other waiting customers who began to line up behind me. After another five minutes, the cashier came over to help, because by then another 4 or 5 additional orders had printed out on the fulfillment system and the employee there continued to ignore them. The cashier handed me a cup with my cold coffee and ice. I then went to the self service area to add sugar and cream. Unfortunately, my cup was filled to the brim so I couldn't add cream. I had to hunt around for a waste basket to pour an ounce or so out of my cup,to make room for the cream. There were no napkins and no waste basket nearby, although I eventually located them in another room. There is no reasonable reason why it should take ten minutes to serve a glass of iced coffee. And when the coffee is provided there is no reasonable reason why a customer has to run around the store looking for a waste basket and napkins. read more

Everyone else was just as frustrated with the wait time as me, and everyone inside seemed to just be sitting around looking at the orders instead of fulfilling them. The place and coffee are excellent. The croissants on the other hand are a horrible misrepresentation. They really can't be called croissants because they're clearly not made properly, the interior is like a weird dinner roll. Definitely, not a Viennese crescent roll. I'm still giving them four stars because they're amazing at their core business of coffee roasting. I've been stopping here for coffee since they opened in 1895 (a short buggy ride down the trail), fantastic coffee. Their weakness, croissant aside, is the selection baked goods. They have nothing savory, like a ham and cheese or even better something vegan. Wonderful little coffee shop that went beyond our expectations in almost every way. The coffee was excellent, the smoothie was imaginative and the brownie and truffle were decedent masterpieces. We arrived on a Sunday morning around 9 a.m. and it was packed, but the staff moved the line along quickly and were very friendly! In fact, they put whipped cream on my boyfriend's drink by accident and when he said it was fine, they offered him a free pastry to make up for it. Later on I overheard the owner offer a customer a free extra shot of espresso in their drink just because. The "sitting" area was a little dirtier than is my taste, tables hadn't been wiped down probably all morning and it shower- I am sure this is mainly because it was so busy at 9 on a Sunday but it is worth noting. This is a 4 star coffee shop, but I am only giving 3 stars because of the experience we had later in the day. We so enjoyed our breakfast, we decided to stop in on our way home for a panini- their menu was very compelling. It was 5:30 and they close at 6:00. When we got there, they told us the grill was off and they were no longer making sandwiches. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. If your establishment is open until 6:00- your menu should be available until 6:00. OR you should indicate on the sign that you only serve drinks after a certain time. Nothing bugs me more than showing up somewhere that is OPEN and being denied a product or service. Really grinds my gears. Bad customer service in my opinion. So, in review- I think that Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters is a great place to grab a cup of very good coffee, a fresh juice, and POSSIBLY a sandwhich- but show up early. read more

I like this location, its tucked away from town. Just a bit of traffic noise, but its quiet. The music is appropriate, not some radio pop junk. Tables vary in size, so some days I bring my hmwk and get a big table. Does not get packed, is good for lunch meetings since they have light sandwiches and such good drinks.
