Bagel with salmon
Al U.

Ugh. Wow. The ambience makes this place a peaceful location for studying, meeting with friends, and having a delicious breakfast sensation. I ordered a white peach iced tea that was so refreshing I may as well have died! Also chose the plain bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Take my hand when I say the crunch and toasting in combination with the cream cheese filling ratio: exquisite.

The sandwiches are so good and the staff is always incredible. Sometimes the wait can be long but it's worth it.

We've been to a lot of the restaurants in Northampton and decided to jump over to Amherst to try a new to me restaurant. This was a cold and damp afternoon, only a day after a snow storm. Mom was excited to order her Tofu Bahn Mi, but I was really looking forward to a big bowl of hot Chicken Pho and a Summer Roll. Our friend tried the Rice Bowl with Steak and Shrimp and a Bao Bun which was delicious. My mom loved her sandwich. The bread alone was enough to make me decide that I must try one next time. My Pho broth was well flavored. The chicken pieces were slightly smaller than what I'm used to from other places, but there was plenty to enjoy. There was an adequate amount of noodles, basil, sprouts and jalapeños. My Summer Roll, while quite enjoyable, was a little difficult to eat. I'm used to having my roll cut in half and this was served whole. The wrapper started to fall apart at one point, but I made sure that I didn't lose anything. Our friend's bowl was good and filling and we were told that the bun was delicious,

This place used to be a local icon, but quality seems to have slipped. If scanning Yelp reviews,…read morefor the current state of their food, focus on the more recent ones. My wife and I went to Frigo's today (a Saturday). I ordered the "Classic Italian" and she got the cream of broccoli soup. Suffice to say, my grinder did not look anything like the featured photo on Yelp. For the "Classic Italian", I was expecting quality Italian bread loaf. Instead, what I got was a small, spongey, insipid roll of inferior quality. The meats were pre-cut and rolled into a small "cigar" that went into the grinder roll. This caused the sandwich to be unbalanced: when taking a bite from the left side, I got some meat, but when biting from the right side, all I got was veggies and bread. The sandwich was a chore to finish and I only continued to stave off hunger. Overall, the quality wasn't great. I have eaten much better Italian grinders at lesser known establishments. My wife complained that the cream of broccoli soup had an overpowering flavor of onions. I tried and spoonful and have to say I agree. The one redeeming quality is that the food was relatively affordable, with the "Classic Italian" costing $10 and the cup of soup costing $3. Maybe other grinders or pre-made dishes are better, but after considering what we got, we will not be back.

Greeno Sub Shop - "Save a Horse" sub (the one that took 80 minutes to get)

They had 4 workers in the back and 1 at the register, yet it took 75 minutes for us to receive our sandwiches. I don't even know how it's possible to make a sub so slowly - you just have to put ingredients on bread and toast it. My friend ordered fries and it took them 30 minutes to get his out. He ordered after me and I didn't get my fries until 15 minutes after his. When I finally got them they were incredibly soggy and steaming hot, almost as if they had been microwaved. Their ticket system makes no sense - they just place them on the counter and then collectively work on one sandwich at a time as slowly as possible instead of splitting up the work and getting them out. I used to work at a sandwich shop by myself and I could get through lines quickly and get multiple sandwiches out every couple minutes, yet Greeno couldn't seem to get one sandwich out in 15 minutes. After 70 minutes of waiting, my friend and I finally received our subs. However, they accidentally put out my other friend's ticket with mine and called it as my sandwich, so we had to wait another 10 minutes for them to finish his. In total, we were at Greeno for an hour and a half waiting for 3 subs and 1 plate of nachos. The "nachos" came out about 30 minutes after they were ordered and consisted of soggy Tostitos with congealed cheese half melted on and a few chopped jalapenos (see below). Those were $5.50. The food was fine, my sandwich was a little dry and sloppily made but it tasted okay. Still, it was just cheese, a few vegetables, and a cut up chicken tender so I'm not sure how it took them 70 minutes to get that to me. It wasn't even that busy, there were maybe 10 or so people ahead of us? Should not have taken as long as it did

New year, new review…read more Popped in after a morning of skiing New Year's Day and place was packed for lunch! I didn't mind as I was in no rush. As I waited in line I enjoyed conversations with both the people in front and behind me whom all have never been before. The joy and excitement on their faces as they made their way to order was priceless. As for myself, a small mac to help start the new year strong for total lbs sold (81k in 2024) and a small pulled pork. Wanted to order some other things but my refrigerator is full at home, so another time. If this will be your first time, just be aware of parking could be very busy as there's not much. Both ways before pull out of parking spaces as well. Main road can be a cluster at times. I also recommend getting lots of little things rather than a little of a lot. You can always come back for more!

There are 2 lines - deli and sandwiches. Great selection of Vermont-made snacks, drinks, and souvenirs as well. I ordered: - Macaroni and cheese ($4.29 per 1/2 lb) made with Vermont's Cabot cheddar cheese - very creamy, cheesy, and had a perfect texture. - Maple BBQ Pulled Pork ($5.99 per 1/2 lb) - very juicy and moist - Turkey Sandwich - had this the next day and it was still tasty. Not dry at all. All were very flavorful and delicious! Highly recommend visiting ~ I can't wait to be back :)
