Classic, simple menu with an extensive local beer, wine, and cider list; friendly, easy-going service, but the view of the River along the mill make this a forever return. I enjoyed the special sandwich - kielbasa, cheddar, saurkraut, and a little whole grain mustard on grilled sourdough. I also nabbed a cold peanut udon noodle situation for my drive later. Found this place close by to a concert we were going to at Montague Retreat Center. Unfamiliar and in the middle of nowhere where, The Lady Killigrew Cafe was a blessing! Timing was great as they close their kitchen at 8pm so we got there around 7:40 with just enough time to grab a bite. Cute and quaint, right near the flowing waters - I wish I got to see this place in the sunlight! The tunes here are great, I was dancing immediately. The staff here is sweet and the space itself is so fascinating! Has a cute charm throughout all the way down to the bookshop. I ordered the Number 1 sandwich. The food is really good. Enjoyed it all. The location is off the beaten track. The views are great. It's a quirky place with a limited menu. Don't expect lattes and other fancier coffees. When you're at the Montague Bookmill, this is a must stop. Seating inside and outside with a gorgeous view of the river. Food is extremely fresh and oh so good. We've only been there for lunch and the sandwiches are amazing. I stumbled across this place on the long drive home after hiking the Mohawk State Trail, it was definitely off the main road but it is the definition of a hidden gem. The food was fresh and delicious, but the view was definitely a highlight of this visit. We ate right over a waterfall with the sound of water complimenting our whole meal. Why they have a web page is beyond my comprehension. The listings on the menu are incorrect and don't say what is grilled, just that it is grilled. It says to get an updated food list you can order online. I tried. I called and got "oh that was for the pandemic, the web page is kind of wonky now, you can't order online. FIX THE WEB PAGE. What serious business leaves an unusable web page up for years? And people wonder why many restaurants go out of business. Located next to the Montague Book mill, this cafe has such a charming location! We sat outside with a beautiful view of the bookmill. The inside is quite nice and quaint as well; it's definitely a place where I'd like to drink a nice cold tea while looking paging through a novel. The menu is quite short and simple but the food is delicious. I got peanut noodles and my friends got ham sandwiches. The peanut ginger udon was delicious but I'm not rly sure why they call it udon because it is not udon! There was slightly too much ginger for me. I wasn't the biggest fan of the curried chicken because I was not used to the sticky texture. The sandwiches were yummy! My only complaint is that the food took sooo long to arrive. We waited maybe 40 mins for 3 dishes. Granted, it was quite a busy day for them, so we didn't mind as much. read more

I live nearby and love the Killigrew. The view is great and people working on their laptops and the music do not bother me one bit as others have complained here. It would be nice if the menu and tea selection were updated. I also wish the hours would expand to 9pm again. I miss holding my writing group here. It's hard to find out what the story is with the constantly changing hours since the owner doesn't view or maintain online sites - Yelp, Facebook, Chat, Google business and even their own website. Really nice location next to a used book store and the view is lovely down to the river. That said, I thought the food and service were mediocre. I ordered a black tea and it was bitter and cloudy. Staff did not offer to exchange it, it was so bad we threw it out. Our four sandwiches took forever and mine arrived cold. They serve the sandwiches with a side salad and didn't even think to offer, if they even have options, for the kids in our group. Overall, the vibe was somewhat pretentious, somewhat disinterested. What can I say? A beautiful summer day next to a waterfall location. All the window seats taken, but not one person talking or enjoying the view. All staring down at their IPads. The atmosphere was as dreary as forced attendance at Evensong. I had to laugh, one couple sharing a table, but not one word spoken between them. Just staring at the computers in front of them. Gee folks! It's suppose to be a cafe. Not a morgue. They should advertise it as such. Food okay, but very pricey and had to wait forever for a sandwich. Didn't appreciate the forced tipping on credit card before getting food. Had to carry our drinks to the table. Maybe I should get tipped for that? A wonderful cafe located in a really cool old gristmill. Their grilled sandwiches are delicious, much better and more filling than what I expected from a cafe. I had the special of a grilled sandwich with carved ham, swiss, caramelized onions and sage mayo which also came with a good-sized salad. My bf had the curried chicken sandwich which was also really good. The prices seem a bit hefty at first glance but are pretty decent for what you get. It was super crowded when we went last weekend and rather difficult to maneuver around the small space but the service was friendly and pretty quick. I arrived at this restaurant and informed them of my nut allergy and when I asked for a deeper explanation on how they would prevent cross contamination, I was asked "what's my issue?"
