I purchased my second box "spring" and mattress from these folks because I got such great service from Michael the first time. Because I now have arthritis I needed something comfortable that would support my body as opposed to giving me grief. I had purchased a Purple mattress from another dealer and returned it because it just didn't feel supportive enough. I opted for a Tempur Pedic so I had to try out different degrees of firmness to find the right one and I had to consider the price and the right box spring, which took a second visit. The place wasn't busy either time (and there was an older couple trying to figure out whether they should purchase another high-end brand and no one was helping them). I don't know if I appeared to not to be serious or if I could afford the Tempur Pedic but I didn't feel a whole lot of love from the woman who was working with Michael. I was almost tempted to walk out and try out another vendor who also sold Tempur Pedic but I chose to go through with the purchase and coordinated having my niece's husband pick up my new bed. As we were wrapping up the woman told me I was eligible for something free, including a Tempur Pedic pillow, which I took. What she didn't tell me, and I found out later, is that those pillows are designed in different thicknesses based on the distance between your shoulder and jaw(?). It was already too late to return it for the right fit but I would have liked to have known or told that ahead of time. This was a major purchase, one that I do not regret at all, but perhaps, I would have thought I'd receive a follow up call or note to find out if I was happy with my purchase. Slumberworld is probably the best place to purchase a mattress if you have specific needs. They have a huge selection of brands and bed types. Slumberworld/Homeworld has been on Beretania and Alapai for so long, that it's known. You can park directly at Slumberworld from Alapai St, or downstairs from Beretania and enter through Homeworld and walk upstairs. We were looking for the firmest of the extra firm mattress that's similar to the Chinese style ones. We've spent months looking at numerous mattress stores and twice at Slumberworld. Our first stop was here, and considered the Island Dreams Poipu and the Serta Briaza II, but felt the price was a little high. Going to other stores, the lower priced mattresses were awful quality, and some stores are even more expensive! And it still didn't compare to the two mattresses we had in mind. We even found a Chinese style mattress that was made in Hawaii by a Chinese man in Waianae. That was the worst mattress we've seen and felt! On our second visit awe found a new mattress! It just came out several days ago too! The Beautyrest Platinum Belgrade Extra Firm. There's apparently 1000 coils inside, more than the Serta Briaza II, which has 880. This is as close you can get for firmness. The staff at Slumberworld are friendly and knowledgeable. They will always introduce themselves and will never follow you around to pressure you or bother you. The ordering process was quick and easy. The delivery went very smoothly and quickly. The two movers were friendly and courteous. I'd go to Slumberworld for my next mattress. It's not as expensive as you think because they have quality items at reasonable prices. Plus they have free delivery and haul away service. Also, you have a four month warranty to try the mattress. If you don't like it, or want a different one, they'll deliver a new one and take away the previous one free of charge. You just pay the difference if there is any. read more

Best place to buy is HERE! They have EVERY brand under the sun! You could literally spend an entire day test driving beds. Air/Tempur/innerspring/gel, you name it - they have it! Several brands of adjustable bases to choose from too. Just a heads up though, I had sticker shock. Beds are hella expensive! Gotta wait till there is a sale. That being said, buy around holidays (Memorial day, 4th of July, Labor Day) for the best prices. Our saleslady, Kelly, was the best! She spent over 2 hours helping us before and then again after the sale when we decided we did want an adjustable base. She helped us with the exchange (you have 120 days to decide you want to switch or change both the mattress and the base). She was patient to a fault - we had a million questions about extended warranty, etc. Often times, they also will throw in a few hundred dollars in accessories (like pillows or sheets) if you hit it just right. Trust me when I say, a good night sleep is worth the time and expense of getting the perfect bed. FYI, we ended up with the Tempur-Cloud Breeze (cooling gel insert for hot Hawaiian nights) with the Ergo-Plus adjustable base. I sleep like a baby. FACT: On the average, human beings spend 1/3 of their lives sleeping, which amounts to about 8 hours per day. Given that fact, while we've been furniture shopping we stopped into Slumber World several times to test out several mattress choices and to replace our bed. We met with Michael Arakaki was never pushy or impatient to "make a sale" with us. He's friendly and really knows his products well as he was able to point us to the a couple of selections that would match our needs. We came in with interest to replace and upgrade our current Tempur-Pedic bed that we've had for years. Michael showed us the newer mattresses that came in varying firmness and even temperature control from Tempur-Pedic as well as the other brands. We were allowed to sit and lie down on the different choices while asking about adjustable features of the bed. Michael even helped us compare the value and promotions going on from Tempur-Pedic and the other well-known brands. Also, he was very thorough in presenting the manufacturer and company warranties. Granted, purchasing a new mattress and bed isn't something that should be taken lightly as it's not cheap. You're going to spend at least 8 hours on that bed so it darn well better be comfortable and supportive. Buying a bed is an bigger ordeal than I thought, especially if you have a significant other. It took us months of research and many visits to different places. We looked for sales and laid literally on hundreds of beds. My wife had her heart set on a Temperpedic. My wallet begged to differ. But wife wins again. Aside from running me through a test to check my pressure points, recommending a bed, and being very attentive, the reason for this review is because of the initiative he took. I believe if you spend $5000 or more then you automatically get no interest for the first 5 years. The total for my mattress set came under $5000 and Kyle was able to still award me with a similar deal after he spoke with his manager. What's more is that I didn't even ask him about it since I was just going to pay in full. I went to slumber world with my husband to look for a sleep number bed. When we first got there we were immediately greeted by steve. We told him that we need help looking for a new mattress and he patiently assisted us to every temprapudic and sleep number bed. Slumberworld has a huge selection of mattresses and they'll let you lay on it (ofcouse) I noticed that they play a really relaxing song, to be honest trying out the beds with a relaxing instrumental music as background made me so sleepy hehe. My husband and I purchased two mattresses (one Tempurpedic + bed frame and one inexpensive memory foam) from Slumberworld within the last five (or so) years. Service has always been great - when you can get an available salesperson and they are really knowledgeable when it comes to their products and inventory. I would knock off half a star because they try to upsell you on warranties and linens - personally, I'm not a fan if upselling but can't blame them because they're just doing their job. The reason I am writing this review is because I called yesterday to ask if they had a bunkie board (I learned that term in this phone conversation) to support one of the memory foam mattress we have. The person I spoke with, I think he said his name is Jason, recommended I purchase plywood from a hardware store instead because it's cheaper. But if I change my mind they have what I need in stock. There was no pressure to purchase anything and I really appreciate that an inexpensive option was recommended even though it would be a purchase from somewhere else. read more

Buyer beware! I went to SlumberWorld on, 702 S. Beretania in Honolulu, HI, and attempted to finance a Tempurpedic mattress. When I asked The sales rep, Jason, if the application process would be a hard, or soft inquiry (pre-approved or approved), he said it would be a soft inquiry,lie #1 I was not offered as much finance as I would have liked so I declined the offer. I asked Jason to refund my deposit of $400 and cancel the finance process. He said we need to go downstairs to the finance desk. My card was refunded and that was the end of it. Three weeks later I received a card in the mail asking me to call and activate my card. I immediately called the credit company, Synchrony, and asked how this credit card was started in my name, I thought it was a case of identity theft. The rep said that it was not a credit card, and more like a membership card, lie #2. The card came from the credit application at Slumber Word. She said it could not be reversed. I then called Jason and told him what had happened. He said that he did not know it would be a "Hard Inquiry". He also did not tell me when he refunded my card for the deposit that I would still have a line of credit, lie #3. I asked him if I could speak to speak to the finance department and was place on the phone with Mikah. I explained to Mikah what had happened and she said the ole "it's in the fine print" I let her know that the sales rep did not make that clear, and that he said it was a "soft inquiry" she told me "Don't worry about it, if you don't use the line of credit, it will be closed in six months" to which I said "when you close my account, it will be a negative mark on my credit report and that it is my obligation to worry about it." I then asked her to put me in touch with a supervisor. I was placed on call to Loni. Loni started to give me the same ole "it's all there on the fine line", but changed her demeanor when I described the whole sequence of events. She apologized, said she did not know how to make things right, and that she would retrain the sales rep and the finance department. I thanked Loni for having enough common sense to blame the client. I also let her know that I would be following through on making sure people walk in to Slumber World with eyes wide open. The service here was excellent and the salesperson that sold us our beds was absolutely great but the only reason for me giving this a one star review was based on my experience with the delivery men. Yes they were courteous, delivered our both of our beds on time and took our old ones away but what I recently found out was that our family's emergency money that I kept hidden in a drawer under the bed was gone! Back in June, prior to our July delivery, I went in there to take out money for a last minute graduation gift so I knew what was in there. Just last week Friday (10/2/15) I went to check the box and noticed the things covering it was ajar and the contents a mess. As I inspected it I found that at least $800 missing, the only thing left in there was my stack of 50 $1 bills and some coin rolls. I knew the type of denominations within the box and had a special $10 old mint edition at the bottom that I was planning to frame. Granted I did not see them take the money but the only time I was not there in the room was when I stepped 7 feet into the living room to sign off on the delivery because they were gathering up the plastic wrapping. The drawer under the bed is exposed through the bed slats; a couple boxes can be seen as well as our spare blankets. I've been racking my brains trying to figure out the mystery of this egregious act and using deductive reasoning for an answer...my only conclusion was Slumber World's delivery men! None of my family members KNOW NOT TO TOUCH our emergency box (not my wife nor my two kids aged 10 and 14 respectively) and NO other stranger had been in our unit since then. Yes I know I should have kept it in a lock box but I would never have expected something brazen like this to happen to me in my secure apartment while I was still there! What recourse do I have after the fact now?! Can't report this to the police because of the amount of time that has elapsed from the delivery of the bed till now and I have no physical proof and hunches don't hold any water. But I KNOW IN MY GUT that it was Slumber World's delivery men!!! I've always given people the benefit of the doubt but in this case this ABHORRENT act is something that I cannot be forgotten. We wanted the cheapest King mattress they had. The saleswoman said that there was a cheap "Chinese" mattress but it would take a month to get from China. She said her other firm mattress was $1900. I asked how much the "Chinese mattress was and she did not answer after 2 requests from me. We left and called the following day (weekend). I said I was comparing prices for the cheapest firm mattress;$800. Is it available? Yes, in 4 days. These are sales people. They make money by charging you extra. There was a huge bed selection, and the sales person was very knowledgeable. He really knew his stuff, and could think of prices really quickly. He did seem to try to push one of the beds more than the other, and was a little slow talk about the bed that I was leaning toward (didn't get the hint). I had to say that I wanted XX bed before he gave up on the other one. Of course, Slumberworld sells frames, bunkie beds (the thinner box for under the bed), and other accessories. their prices were comparable to other places, but the bed protector was much more expensive than Walmart brand ($79 vs $20) - probably because it came with a guarantee that it would protect the bed. The frames are sold by pieces....and they don't sell the matching dressers or night stands (but America's Mattress does). Choosing the right bed takes time, not just lying on all the beds (gross, when you think about it), but there are a lot of stores that sell beds. I would suggest going to other places before Slumberworld as you might find a better deal elsewhere. read more

They have everything from Tempur-Pedic to Serta, sofa sleepers, day beds, etc. A very wide selection for every price range. Mary was the sales associate who helped us out. She was GREAT! First, she asked what type of firmness we wanted and what kind of bed frame we have. She pointed out a few for us, then gave us time to try out the different models. We found something we liked, but still wanted to price out other stores. Mary gave us her card and told us to let her know when we were ready to decide - no pressure at all. After thinking it over, we returned a week later, ready to purchase. Luckily, Mary was working and remembered us right away! While taking one last look at the mattress set, she asked about the height of our bed frame/headboard. Based on that, she recommended we do the bunky board (instead of the box spring) due to the low height of our bed frame and headboard. This was actually cheaper than purchasing the mattress/box spring set, so she obviously made this recommendation with our best interests in mind (versus a higher commission). Just when I thought I couldn't be happier with our choice, Mary informed us that we could sign up for their store's payment plan - zero down payment and no interest for a year if you make the minimum monthly payments and pay the full purchase price within a year. Long, long, long past it's prime, it was finally to say "ciao" to our old mattress and "Aloha" to a new plush one! Hubby and I began checking out a few of the major mattress stores back in February just to see what was out there. We decided to come back to SlumberWorld last weekend mainly because we had such a pleasant and knowledgeable salesperson, Clark, but also found they had everything we were looking for besides a mattress including the bedframe, headboard, and under the bed storage drawers. In the few months since we had last been there the store has rearranged their beds and it makes it much easier to see the different styles and brands available. They now offer a mattress evaluation done through a computer to see which mattress is best based on your sleeping position. Clark was a pleasure to work with. He remembered our situation and what we were looking for. He's such a straight forward guy, allowing us to try each mattress out and offering suggestions, and never pushy like some of the salespeople we encountered at other stores, which I find a total turn off when shopping anywhere. After we had chosen our products, Clark sat down and calculated everything out giving us the best bang for our buck. We set up the delivery date and I believe it was approximately 4-5 days. I also received an email the day prior as well as a phone call to confirm that the furniture would be arriving the next day within a 2 hour time frame. Awesome, especially since I have to coordinate elevators with my security guys in the building. Within 2 days of receiving the furniture, Clark sent out a handwritten thank you card! Talk about customer service and wanting to make sure their customers are happy! A good nights sleep is more than enough to make me happy but to receive a thank you card was pretty cool too! The showroom is on the 2nd floor of the HomeWorld Furniture building right off South Beretania and before Alapai Street. It offers a private easy to enter/exit parking lot as well as a ramp up to another parking area by the 2nd floor. Prices here were much lower than America's Mattress, and only slightly more than Macy's on sale. The sales floor was clean and pleasant, and the sales staff had me sample mattresses in a logical firm to plush progression to find what I liked best. I've been doing some research on mattresses, and found a selection I liked from the beautyrest black edition. The line is a but more expensive, but well worth it- to a certain degree... I went to slumber world to test the Evie model, which is the one I bought, however they wanted $3200 for the mattress alone. I researched on line at usmattress.com and found it there for $2200. Then I found a delivery method. After looking around I found shiptohawaii.com, which would ship for $540, saving around $400. I went back to slumberworld to see if they would come down to at least $2900. Although the manager was very sympathetic, she wasn't able to come down in price. You're way better off doing a Leesa or Casper bed. I bought from them because they had a "60 day" guarantee but the salesman failed to disclose some important facts. I ended up having a lot of pain from the mattress. When I called to exchange they told me about an absurdly large restocking fee that was something like $400. I ended up not exchanging the mattress and having lots of back problems. Ultimately ended up buying another mattress online that works better for me for less than their restocking fee. read more

I recently purchased an adjustable bed from Slumber World. I had been to Wholesale Mattress, America's Mattress and Slumber World. I discovered three levels of consumer service. Wholesale Mattress will only deliver, but will not take away your older mattress and bed frame. America's Mattress will take away a STANDARD mattress and frame, but NOT an adjustable frame. Slumber World WILL take away your older mattress, and bed frame---even if it is for an adjustable bed. This was important to me, because I had an old adjustable bed that needed to be replaced. If you are like me, you want to do as much as possible by yourself, without having to inconvenience friends and family. I did not want to have to ask others to help take the bed frame out for bulk trash pickup. (You'd have to be sure you put out the item on the week of bulk trash pickup for your area, or you may be hit with a fine. Another thing to be worried about.) The fact that Slumber World was willing to take away everything for a nominal fee was the deal clincher for me. This is a consumer service that I hope Slumber World will continue to keep. So if you have an adjustable bed (or any type of bed) you're replacing, go to Slumber World. This was a valuable service I was glad they had. I could get the job done without inconveniencing anyone! My sales rep, Lawrence Taylor, was also a sweetheart! He was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and flexible. He could answer all of my questions and work with the concerns I had to set up my delivery. The delivery was made within the time frame given and the personnel were friendly and efficient. All items were delivered in factory condition and handled with care. For all these reasons, you can bet that I will go back to Slumber World, should I need to replace any more beds in my home. My boyfriend and I desperately needed a new bed and went to Slumber World to just shop around and see if they had anything we would like. Lawrence was our salesman and he was amazing! After visiting Macy's and Sears with my husband and getting totally frustrated and angry at their salespeople, visiting Slumberworld was a treat! We walked in to the store and were greeted by an employee (Mike), we asked our questions, then we were left alone (Yeah!) to look at the beds/lie on them/etc. No hovering employee giving us unsolicited advice, no comments about how we were dressed inappropriately for bed shopping, no directives to lie at least 5 minutes on our back and each side, no eavesdropping employees commenting on our private discussion regarding the beds, and no telling us to come back when we had more time so we could spend much longer truly checking out all the beds on offer (all of these experiences were from our trip to Sears mattress department). We also learned the hard way to ask how much delivery of the mattress to our house would be: first Sears and Macy's told us that delivery was free - but when we returned to those stores (taking out valuable time from work to do so) to try to actually purchase the mattress on our second trip, we found out it was only free if you spent a certain minimum amount on the bed, otherwise it was from $70-$85 to drive the mattress from Waipahu to Palolo Valley. Slumberworld charges for delivery, but only $55. All in all, I hope not to have to buy another mattress for some time, but I will go to Slumberworld first in they are still in business! read more
