I can't say enough good things about Slug A Bug. I was sold by the personality and friendliness when I called with questions and to get a quote but the service I experienced was 5 stars all the way. I was embarrassed because I am a very clean person but have been seeing big American Cockroaches in my basement apartment and was feeling completely overwhelmed--especially being stuck at home recovering from surgery. Mike came out on 5/8 to do an interior/exterior treatment, and WOW... these bugs didn't know what hit them!! That very night, I could tell the treatment was working. One roach was already stuck in a sticky trap, and another looked sluggish--until it crawled onto the ceiling and flew at me! (Yes, I found out the hard way that roaches can fly. LOL) Needless to say I stayed the night at my parents. When I came back the next morning, it was dead in a trap--and since then, I've found a few more dead roaches in traps and even some dead camel/cave crickets (bonus it's working on them!). The difference has been huge, and I finally feel like I'm getting my peace of mind back. Now that it is under new management, the quality of the services has declined dramatically. I had referred multiple friends which they have said they have received less than ideal quality service and customer service is inadequate as well. My backyard had a yellow jacket nest in the ground that was discovered after stepping on it. Shortly after, we called Slug-A-Bug to come and remove the pests. The woman on the phone, Cher, was friendly and told us that the exterminator, Mike, would be over within two hours. Mike was friendly as well, checking the area before removing the bugs. I've had all the big hitters to my house on one day or another offering me the deal of a life time to change to them. One local company that you see their truck everywhere offered a half off discount if I signed with them immediately. No thanks. We have had an ant situation for the last four years (they seem to arrive in the summer once the rain starts and depart by fall) and this year it got so bad my husband and I decided to call Slug A Bug to get rid of them. We didn't want to call a major company, as we wanted to support a local business. And thanks to the great reviews on Yelp, we gave Slug A Bug a call. So glad we did! I called this Monday and they had time to come out and inspect our house the next day (yesterday)! Mike (?) came and was very personable and patiently listened to our ant related issues. He then recommended several options, not once trying to up sell or push us on a service. Mike then sprayed our interior and exterior and told us to expect to still see some ants until it takes effect...but he was wrong... I haven't seen ONE ant since he left the house! Within an hour of his spraying/departure I haven't run into another ant!! That's saying a lot as there were several that were running around when he arrived. We also had experience with a rat outside and he put out a bait trap/box (?) and service for only $25 more! Everything was affordable and within our budget considering it was a last minute/crisis/can't-take-it-anymore/Raid-stopped-working kind of situation. When we moved into our rental townhome, I noticed a little "infestation" of my most hated Virginia bug - the cave/camel/spider cricket. We were planning on having guests stay with us in the basement, but not if those things were living down there too! I called Slug-A-Bug (or my landlord did, either way...) and started us on their quarterly pest service. The technician explained it this way - the first spray is interior and exterior perimeter (which covers basically every single crack and crevice you can imagine), and then quarterly is perimeter only. However, we have been lucky and if we're home, they'll also spray the interior which is very helpful. He said the bugs won't stop immediately, but with the continued sprays we'll get their eggs which means when they go to hatch and reproduce they won't have that chance. We've had their services for about 5 quarters now and have been quite happy. I see occasional bugs in the basement but they're dead or just about there which is a great sign. Once they came and it rained the next day, and I started seeing bugs in the basement. They came back and did another exterior spray at no extra charge. Also, they mentioned that the product they use is not the strongest product available, but is the strongest allowed by law in Virginia, so you're getting the best you can. The technicians are nice, thorough, and friendly. I've been very happy with their service. read more

I mean any insect plan for the home is expensive but I can say this plan was better priced than the other companies I've contacted. The first visit was for the time of 8-10 am and Mike showed up at 7:45 am which was okay with me...it got the work done quicker. He took has time outside and when he came in covered all the areas.
