I have had a very positive experience with this company and highly recommend them. I noticed a mouse running along the baseboards in my kitchen and naively assumed it was a rogue rodent that could be caught with some traps. I initially hired another company that set traps and did what turned out to be an ineffective search for potential holes. They came back several times but did not solve the problem. I hired Biotech after reading good yelp reviews and have been pleased. They are very responsive and quick to come out, they are friendly and professional, and are committed to solving the underlying problem instead of simply trying to treat the symptoms. Clifford came out the day after I called, pulled back all of my appliances, and discovered that the contractor who did the renovations (several years before I bought the house, and unfortunately a common occurrence in DC) had not sealed the kitchen off properly and there was clear evidence of mice activity. A few days later AJ came with a plumber and they unplugged and moved all of my appliances and sealed everything off with steel plates and foam. They also examined a brick wall on the other side of my kitchen and filled in potential holes. About 4 days after they came I discovered ANOTHER mouse and left a distraught voicemail late on a Friday night. They returned my call first thing Saturday morning and sent AJ out again a few hours later, and he worked diligently to identify other possible entry points. He discovered droppings and small holes in another brick wall on the other side of my house, where I had never seen any rodent activity but where they apparently were also coming in. He then spent a long time making sure that each and every hole was plugged up. AJ was great and I do not fault him at all for not identifying those other holes initially. I had adamantly stated during the initial consultation that the mouse activity was limited to the kitchen, and they found clear evidence there that mice were coming in from the baseboards, so it made sense to focus on that area and not look further (the droppings in the other area in fact were hidden by some furniture, and if AJ hadn't checked it on his own I never would have noticed). He also made sure to sweep up all the droppings and clean everything up, and even cleverly helped me fix a small hole in my kitchen that was interior and not a mouse entry point. I am very hopeful that this solves the issue once and for all, and would highly recommend that Biotech be your first call if you are unlucky enough to face rodent issue - and definitely ask for AJ! read more

In April 2014, Clifford Akpan contacted me via email representing himself as owner of Ecotech Pest Management. I paid him $789.00 for bat removal and bat proofing. Clifford Akpan pretended to do bat proofing on my home; bats are still entering my home. I contacted Clifford Akpan early November 2014 about removing the bat from my home he said...oh I do not service your area anymore; I mainly service the DC area, but you are still under warranty; I will come to your home on November 17, 2014. I was shocked to learn that Clifford Akpan's company is now called Biotech Pest Management. Due to the emergency issue with the live bat in my home I had to contact the State of Maryland DNR...no one has heard of Clifford Akpan for wildlife removal. I also contacted a reputable bat removal/proofing company. They came to my home and performed a thorough inspection of my home and confirmed what my gut was telling me. Clifford Akpan had performed no bat proofing work on my home. I still need to pay for the work he was paid to do, or the bats will continue to enter my property. When November 17th came around Clifford Akpan was a no show; not even a phone call. I called him again the evening of November 17th to speak to him about his shotty work....or really no work. I told him that I had no faith that he even was licensed or capable of doing bat proofing, and the right thing for him to do is refund the money he was paid, because he did not perform the work. Clifford Akpan became angry, screaming at me saying I cannot demand a refund. I hung the phone up. Pressured to pay in advance of job being completed. If you give Clifford Akpan your money...you most likely are being scammed and ripped off. I'm writing this after the second time working with biotech for a mouse problem. In November of 2014 we were in an apartment and had some pretty aggressive mice running around our living room. Our landlord hired a company that got a nice long contract out of her, but basically just came and dropped poison (which we could have done) and told us that basically we should get used to the mice because it would take them at least nine months (!) to get rid of them. With a baby on the way, we didn't want to wait nine months, so my wife found BioTech and Ryan and David came right out for the free inspection. They were so helpful and informative, and their process for removing the mice meant that within a week or two they'd likely be gone, so we paid for their services and were so glad we did. After their second visit where they placed bait, we never saw another mouse, and then they came back to seal up all the entry points. It was the most worthwhile service we ever paid for. This year in a new larger place, we have again found ourselves dealing with mice, so I immediately called and Cliff came out to do the initial inspection. Despite our place being much bigger than our little apartment, the price was only marginally higher for the same service. After Cliff's initial inspection I've had the pleasure of dealing with A.J. who came back three times to do baiting and sealing around the house. He was so thorough and informative and would check every closet and nook that I would suggest, even when they had nothing in them. He and his plumbers pulled out our dishwasher and found a HUGE entry-point in our kitchen which was sealed up with steel wool and spray foam insulation. I loathe rodents -- and we had at least a small family of them living behind the cabinets in our kitchen. After many phone calls and several estimates (including bizarre, multi-thousand and multi-year contracts), Biotech was the clear winner. Reasonable, responsive, and fast. David came out for the assessment and "baiting" and walked me through everything. Then AJ returned a week later to seal every possible entry point, something that involved tricky maneuvering in an old, Georgetown house. His work was thorough and thoughtful. Here are some highlights that really made this company stand out, from small to big: 1. They worked with me to schedule their visits around my daughter's naptime; 2. They stayed as long as it took, for both visits, patiently answering all questions; 3. When my plumber cancelled last minute (we needed to pull out the dishwasher to see if there were entry-points behind it), they used their sub, who cost less than my regular plumber! 4. David & AJ were simply delightful. 5. When, unrelated to his work, Biotech's plumber found a significant leak below our sink and I was in a total panic - because, did I mention, this was the day Snowzilla descended? - he removed the cracked pipe, drove up to ACE HARDWARE as the storm was starting, bought a replacement, and came back and fitted it -- all in less than 65 minutes -- again for a VERY reasonable price. Mice dealt with -- and sink repaired all on the Friday before the city ground to a halt. And -- AJ followed up the next day by text to confirm all was well. I started using BioTech Pest Management this summer after moving into a new condo and finding I had a cockroach problem. They came to assess the situation and we both thought it would be a relatively easy fix, they suggested 2-3 sprays and included a 6-month guarantee. After 3 sprays, I unfortunately still kept getting new roaches in my kitchen! They kept to their guarantee promise and worked diligently to try to get to the root of our problem. After 6 or so sprays, we determined it was absolutely impossible these roaches are still actually living in my home - they're entering from elsewhere. I sent a letter to my next door neighbors who I believe have since attempted to treat an infestation in their house. The bug problem has gotten better but is still not totally resolved yet. On BioTech's last visit (their 8th? the 5th one for free), somehow my electrical outlets got messed up and John their technician came back right away figured out how to fix them - even though clearly being an electrician is beyond their scope of work he was determined to do the best job possible and not leave any issues he may be able to solve on his own that same day. The sockets are all working again now and for now there are no roaches in my kitchen. Truthfully, we can't control my neighbor's bug problem (sigh) but we can keep the situation under control and BioTech Pest Management has kept their promises and made what should be a horrible experience pretty much as professional and pleasant as possible. I was prepared to use the warranty period I was given by biotech because in my mind, I just felt like the mice problem wasn't gonna just disappear. Unfortunately, I was proven wrong. I would have done this review long ago but I waited to see if I will be needing to call them back. I had a very bad mice situation and had earlier used a pest company, I wont mention names but the problem reoccurred after few weeks. I looked up pest control and read a series of reviews. At that point, I was convinced Biotech was the way to go, I called and was surprised when I was told inspection was free. Randy came in, did a thorough inspection, even in my skepticism, I couldn't believe my eyes when he showed me mice droppings underneath my cabinets, showed me entry points and explained to me what they will do for it to be gone permanently. We agreed and decided to go ahead to fix the problem. John came in, the next appointment and baited....came back a couple of days later to pull out dishwasher and other appliances, sealed the entry points. I was impressed at the extent of work they put in just to make sure the intruders don't gain entry anymore. I was called some days later and asked if I had any issues and I simply said Not Yet. Its been months now and still no recurrence. I have to go on angies list to do this review as well. I am really happy with the work these guys have done. Thanks to Randy and John... Great company that really takes care of the customers! My roommate discovered she had bed bugs in her room in June. After short research we called Biotech. Biotech promptly scheduled their initial visit with us. When Cliff arrived he was very professional and explained us the treatment. We booked the treatment with two follow ups. Clifford said that we also were getting a three month warranty which means that if within three month after the last follow up we see any bed bugs in our house they would repeat the treatment for free. The bugs disappeared shortly after the Biotech technician sprayed our place for the first time. And never appear again... Till the last week of December when my roommate started getting bites at night again. At this point our three month warranty with Biotech has expired few month ago. I called them almost without any hope that they will actually do anything without charging us again. However, to my surprise Clifford schedule the appointment for the next day to see what the situation was. When he arrived, even though he didn't find any evidence of the bed bugs presence and stated they were probably reintroduced to the house (the new bugs were brought to the house, not the old ones returned) he offered us a complimentary treatment and scheduled it as soon as possible. Now I can definitely say that Biotech provides EXCEPTIONAL customer service and is not afraid to go extra mile to deliver their promise. W read more

I created my own Yelp account just so I could let all the other people out there looking for a Pest Management company know that Cliff is the guy you want to call. He comes across as very professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and honest. How do I know? Because I called him about a week ago with a request for a free estimate and he was at my house the very same day to check out my insect problem and give me advice and a free estimate... no strings attached. He looked at not only my immediate insect problem, but took a deeper look in and outside my house, giving me useful advice on how to keep the little critters out. Since I have lots of trees around my house, he told me that it would be critical to trim as frequently as possible (at least quarterly) the dead and dying branches above my house and also t clean the gutters as often as possible (again, at least quarterly). And to kill the critters already inside, he has some eco-friendly and 'less dangerous' spray that he can use where the little critters seem to be hiding and coming in. And did I mention that he didn't pressure me to schedule the service with him "as soon as possible"... so as soon as I have some time in my schedule I'll be calling him again to have my insects managed. They helped us deal with a family member's home that had level 4 hoarding and extreme infestation by cockroaches and mice. We conducted research, interviewed several firms and took a recommendation from another company we use Help In The Home LLC, and choose BioTech, a locally owned firm in DC that specializes in extreme infestation issues. We spoke with Fransisco Palacios who recommend an aggressive 6 treatment schedule with quarterly follow-up treatments to rid the property of both the insects and mice. Victor Fowler conducted the weekly extermination treatments, was careful in the application of materials and was caring and respectful of the residents. He also made good observations of particular troublesome areas in the house and recommendations for treatment and maintenance. The work was professionally conducted, Fransisco, Victor and the whole BioTech team of experts were respectful of the residents and very easy to work with. The results were beyond our expectation - and all done at a fair, reasonable price. Outstanding service. They sent someone out within a day and had great availability, better than most other companies I contacted. From the person at front desk I spoke to, through the inspection (provided by John) and the service (provided by Jamar), everyone was extremely friendly, polite, effective, and knowledgeable. I got the sense that they really care about the customer and the service they provide. The service itself was fast and thorough. It is too soon to say whether my issue is solved yet but I am quite confident. What further adds to that confidence is that BioTech provide an automatic 12 month warranty on their service for all living spaces. This seems to me an offering superior to other providers. The pricing was very reasonable. They even reduced the price after the technician had to change his approach to one of the potential entry points. This left me with the impression that they charge fairly and only for the services and materials they actually provide rather than being bent on overcharging the customer where possible. Overall I am impressed with the job they did. Who knew one could have a rat infestation and then be left with a feeling of satisfaction? BioTech certainly taught me that is possible.
