I was really impressed with my experience with AR1 group. The woman who answered the phone when I requested an appointment was polite and friendly got me an appointment in a day and a half. I was shocked when Anthony arrived on time. Maybe it's just me but so often when I call a service provider they are wide of the mark for timeliness, for pest control, appliance repair, HVAC techs, what have you. Anthony was right on time and wore his booties. He checked out the situation and told me what I did and didn't need. Because my issues are coming from the kitchen and my kitchen is being remodeled in two weeks, he recommended to do nothing at this time and explained to me why I saw the mouse I did, that he was acting erratic because he encountered some of the rat poison and it messed him up and he is probably going off to die now, which felt reassuring. He didn't charge me anything for coming, which I'm always surprised and impressed with. Anthony is super friendly and personable, I never know if I will feel uncomfortable having a male tech come to the house when my boyfriend isn't home, but he just seems like a nice normal man you can easily have a conversation with. AR1 stands shoulders above the rest. I live in a townhouse so mice in the walls has been a constant challenge due to a poor build out of my community. When I found evidence they had made their way into my kitchen, I called AR1. I'd contact several other companies months earlier when I had a squirrel and mouse issue in my roof and NONE were ultimately helpful while most were happy to take my money and leave poison behind. They visited my home and provided an inspection of the rodent issue. Anthony diagnosed that it was a rat issue based on droppings that he found in the basement. He quickly proposed a solution that he claimed would save me money and push to remediate that day. As many know when someone offers to save you money - you typically need to be weary. Unfortunately, I made that mistake. Moreover, AR1 charged my card more than what was quoted in person. In the end, I called Mitchell Pest who did a thorough inspection and quickly identified that the dropping found by AR1 was actual several years old, so not a rat issue, but mice. Unlike AR1, they guarantee their work and provide quality thorough remediation. Not propose crazy solutions like drilling holes in my wall and gassing out the rodent. I kept seeing frass buildup over several weeks in one part of our house and finally called AR1 about it -- they were able to send a technician within a day. Anthony came over and identified the likely cause (ants) and recommended that we do some site-specific cleanup & maintenance ourselves before even having them put in any pest treatment. AR1 is one of the few pest control companies that will properly address a mouse issue by sealing up any entry points in your home followed up by monitoring to make sure no more mice have entered. Other pest control companies just hand you a bunch of glue traps and snap traps, and that is it. Frankly, that solution does not address the root cause of the problem. I discovered one of Mickey's relatives in my pantry around 5:30am this morning. I called AR1 Group around 7:00am and reached the company's after-hours switchboard. At 9:15am, I received a call back from Anthony indicating he could come out to assess the rodent situation once he left his current job. Anthony arrived shortly after 11:00am. He was very professional, thoughtful, efficient and a straight shooter. He indicated that he had already begun assessing and identifying potential entry points as he walked up to my home. He immediately informed me of these after I greeted him at my front door. In addition to this, Anthony carefully walked me through the interior and exterior of my house to assess other possible rodent entry points. Anthony is a stand-up guy. He could have easily taken my money and provided me with a band-aid solution that would not resolve my newly discovered mouse issue longterm. Instead, he was quite honest about the fact that unless I addressed some structural issues at my home, I would not be able to eliminate the mouse issue and warned that because mice are social creatures there was likely more than one rummaging about, so I could end up with an infestation. I first reached out to another pest control company and the owner went on for 15 minutes about how great he was before admitting he could not do an inspection until 3 days later. Today, Anthony from AR1 group came to my home for a flea check and estimate. He arrived on time, was so kind (to me, my toddler, and dogs), and did a thorough inspection. He was so honest that he actually recommended that I not move forward with treatment as he found no evidence of fleas. I think it may be my first experience ever where I requested an estimate and was told I didn't actually need the service. Heads up - I didn't use them but thought I'd let you know what the process is like: 1) They won't give you a quote over the phone, they want to come check out the property first. Fair. 2) They don't have any availability in the evenings or weekends and give you a time window for when they can come out to give you a quote. AR1 Group was great. The technician showed up on time and looked around. I live in an old house and the furnace room had a lot of points of intrusion (i.e., floor of the room isn't fully sealed with lots of heavy equipment so you cannot get in there to plug up openings). He told me that there wasn't a lot I could do except maintain and control the situation myself with bait/trap from Home Depot until I redid the furnace room to close up the floor and walls. I appreciated the honesty and the fact that AR1 didn't charge me at all. They could have easily put down basic traps and bait from any home improvement store and then charged me $100+ for the "service" (like Pest Now) but AR1 is a honestly run company! A++++ read more

Oh, dear. Anthony may be a nice man (as others claim), but his organization is needs improvement. I spent 10 minutes on the phone with his "receptionist" (who denied being an answering service) only to be put thru to another "receptionist" who started the entire process again -- and had not been given a bit of the information I had just given the first woman (she did not even know my name of phone number, even though the first woman had asked for it several times). Others have had the same experience with repeated receptionists who do not speak with one another. I wanted to bring to him, some luggage which may have been infested on a trip, but was told that Anthony did not have a place of business and must come to me - by appointment. My attempts to speak with Anthony were in the end not successful. Three frustrating phone calls to sweet young ladies ended as a huge waste of my time. This is no way to run a company. High quality service. Anthony was prompt and professional - as others have noted he shows up exactly on time, immediately covers his shoes and even cleans up any droppings you may have the misfortune to have if you are looking into exterminator services. We called for a mouse problem, and Anthony spent over an hour inspecting the inside and outside of our house and our basement tenant's place. He covered any holes and gave us food storage tips. The poison he uses is inside the walls so you won't see any mice after treatment unless they come out to try to get water - he did horrifyingly tell us not to leave water out for our dog for a few days in case any mice seeking water drowned in the bowl - that was probably the only worse moment than seeing a mouse on my kitchen counter in this process. We actually had another mouse sighting and Anthony is scheduled to come back. But I don't blame him, I blame us for still having dog treats and a fruit bowl on the counter, even though he told us not too. Listen to Anthony! The only weird thing about this place is the answering service that takes your information then transfers your call so you have to give the same information again - why bother with the two step process? The technician was wonderful to work with. He came promptly, within hours of my call, let me know he was on his way, and carefully evaluated the problem with animal noises in a master bathroom. I just got off the phone with Anthony. I live in an apartment complex nearby and unfortunatley the maintenance staff and community manager are not being proactive enough in resolving my pest situation. I talked to him for almost 20 minutes in great detail on what has occurred in my apartment recently. Called a week and a few days in advance, scheduled the appointment, although I don't understand why I talked to two people if it was for the same information. Maybe I'm just that important? :) Just kidding! I have a issue with cockroaches who live in my house, dirtying the place, while refusing to pay rent. Anthony came in on time. Wow. On time? I haven't had a plumber, or my Cox Service repairer ever arrive on time, so it was impressive. It was also added onto the fact I urged Anthony to come in, but noticed he was taking his time, putting on covers on his work shoes. Another plus. Anthony inspected the kitchen which was my main concern, and listened to my questions, and comments. Gave me wonderful advice and what my available options were at hand to take, was upfront about it, and didn't beat around the bush. I told him over the phone what was going on (a variety of random insects, large spiders, and wasps in our house), and he did a thorough inspection and called me back to explain everything. He recommended a one-time treatment to get us started instead of trying to sell me something more involved, which I really appreciate. I was concerned when the first person I spoke with on the phone asked for my credit card information while setting up the initial inspection, but it ended up making the process much easier. Review: With the colder weather settling in and the spate of rain that we've had recently in the DC area, it generated some unwanted visitors (mice). Anthony came over to my property on Saturday (10/19) and did a thorough review. He gave me counsel on how to prevent mice from getting in and out of my property and showed me exactly what I needed to do to fix the problem inside and outside of my property. He was patient and answered all of my questions, even the dumb ones. Cost: $0. I was astonished that he said there would be no charge. I insisted on paying him for his time and his advice but he refused me multiple times. Service: I talked with Anthony while going through the property and what I found out about him is that he is very good at what he does. He shoots straight and values human interaction. It's clear from his approach that he is not out there to make a quick buck. He wants to eliminate your pest problem and if he can do that with just his advice, he won't charge you. If he believes his service can help, he will charge you a reasonable fee and guarantee his work. I really can't put into words how refreshing it was to deal with an honest and knowledgable person. Note: You should set aside 5-10 mins to schedule an appointment with Anthony. You will talk with 2 people to get an appointment scheduled and may have to repeat your contact information.
