Purple rain- ube latte and chicken pesto panini

Got slowpokes with my friends and it was phenomenal the workers were so nice too! I wish we had a slow pokes in Pearland or Friendswood area

We were given this recommendation from a fellow traveler. This is a beautiful chill vibe that serves many things from coffee, tea, food, wine and beer. They serve pets and games. Great place to come work and chill.

This is the worst matcha latte I've ever had.

This is the worst matcha latte I've ever had. The service was really bad, too. Don't waste your money.

Ok I very rarely leave reviews.... but my $12 sandwich was so so bad. I couldn't not post this photo. Mind you... this was after I asked the employee at the counter if I should order this, the breakfast bagel, or a turkey club. They told me that all three were fine and basically "idk". Which... ok I guess. But then I receive this as my "turkey pesto panino". I was actually kinda pissed, and I know 100% that I'm pretty patient with restaurant peeps.

So this location is nestled within close proximity to the cutest park with lots of surrounding places to check out too. Definitely somewhere I plan to revisit when I'm in the mood for a nice, relaxing day. As far as ambiance is concerned Slowpokes itself gives a quaint, subtly sophisticated coffee spot vibe. Just a disclaimer it does get pretty packed in there! So if you come with intents to dine in or do work, be prepared to share a table with someone or wait for the next available seat. Food was so good and paired so nicely with my coffee. My friend opted for the breakfast bagel and it looked soooo good. Coffee/Lattes truly stole the show. Literally 5/5! I can be a matcha snob but that one was soooo good. Not only was I REVVED UP after having my latte, but it was actually so good that I sat and ordered another drink just to explore their menu more. Only thing I didn't care for was the customer service for my second order (mind you this is the same day). For my first order I was helped by a young lady who was super sweet and suggestive. By the time I placed my second order there was a guy and I was puzzled when he didn't ask whether I was dining in or not and automatically made my second drink in a paper cup. Also it didn't help that this same person didn't really greet my friend or I. Either way though I fully endorse this spot and love it to my coreee! If you're in the mood for some specialty crafted coffees/lattes, look no further! I left there sooooo satisfied. Cheers to one of my new favorite Houston coffee spots!

I visit this location on a weekly basis and I have to say the customer service is always superb! One of my favorite go-to drinks is the strawberry matcha latte. I order this drink minimum 3 days a week. It's the best! For lunch, it's the HTX wrap for me. I've also recently had their purple rain latte. Very yummy!

I love the sloth themed shop. Nice gathering space. I had an espresso and it was quite strong. Ample private lot on site. A lot of people were eating so their food must be good!

Some of our class went to Slowpokes in upper Kirby to hangout during orientation week! This is a nice cafe with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's next to a big park with plenty of attractions and seating as well. There's some street parking as well as a parking garage where your ticket will be comped with a purchase. I got the purple rain specialty latte, which is made with ube and vanilla. It was pretty decent at first but they put in a lot of ice so the drink soon became diluted and did not taste as good. The ube flavor was pretty light but the vanilla wasn't strong either. I was outside so the heat definitely contributed to the ice melting faster but it was not enjoyable to drink after that.

I've had my fair share of Paulie's but never had the chance to come to Camerata...until now. I had been missing out for so long! We journeyed from white to red wines throughout the night. We started out with the Babylonstoren, a chenin blanc from South Africa. We then moved into pink (rose) with the Ana Beirut - a blend of cab sauv, syrah, and tempranillo grapes with a bit of skin contact to give the wine the pink color. Lastly we ordered the Guelbenzu - a red blend of tempranillo, cab sauv, syrah, and graciano. This full-bodied red was the absolute fan favorite of the table. Food options are on the light side: meat & cheese boards, bread, and small bites. We started out with the warm bread - while it's normally served with butter, there's an option to switch that out with olive oil & herbs which is what we did. We then went for the meat & cheese platter. We couldn't decide on which meats or cheeses, so we did the option of ordering all 8! This came with 4 delicious meats and 4 tasty cheeses (from Houston Dairymaids), also with crispy fava beans, olives, pickles, and bread. This was a good amount for our group of 4 to share. Elena was our server and she was absolutely OUTSTANDING. She vibed with us throughout the night and made sure that we were well-taken care of. I loved her energy along with her vast knowledge of wines. We got plenty of good recommendations from her during our time there. I'm super sad that Houston will be losing this gem permanently at the end of the year (and even more sad that I only discovered it in the last month of its existence). While I know that owner Paulie won't be moving this venture to a new spot, I do hope a descendant of Camerata manifests itself somewhere in Houston in the coming years.

It's part of the Paulie's Restaurant brands, but completely separate from the restaurant from what I could tell. Parking is a bit difficult, but after a bit of circling we were able to find a spot and make our way in what looked like the back entrance. It was very low key, and despite the sign, the door seemed almost hidden in that back little corner. The staff seemed to have a bit of a hipster vibe-- not unexpected given the Montrose area-- but were very friendly. They offered suggestions, but let us go with what we wanted to try. There's a food menu along with the drinks, but we were heading to the restaurant next door, so we passed on grabbing food. We ended up going with a couple of glasses of red and a couple of the specialty chocolates. My wife loved her salted caramel chocolate. I enjoyed my peppermint chocolate. For the glasses of wine, I've got better at home for bottles the same price as those glasses. My wife really enjoyed the vibe, but even if this place wasn't about to close down, I'm not sure I'd be coming back here often. It's just too hard to park.

Wonderfully curated wine list at every price point, and there's something to satisfy any occasion and mood. You can take bottles to go, drink wines from their retail shop on site, or order by the glass. Our summer time drink is the eponymous June's Rosé - nothing beats the vibe of sitting outdoors in the the early evening, under the canopy and amongst the greenery, sipping on a chilled bubbly, while feeling the waft of a gentle Houston breeze right as the sun sets. Pair that with their meat and cheese board, and I am in heaven. Their HH from 2-5pm is also one of the best deals in town, although it can be crowded and hard to find seats at times. Also insider tip: they make THE best canelé in Houston - such a surprise given they are not a dedicated pastry shop (try it if you don't believe me, and tell me I am wrong). ____________________ Personal Montrose Wine Bar Power Rankings (as of Oct 2026): 1. I experienced this side of the business during the early phase of the Covid pandemic back in 2020. At the time, during lockdown, going to a wine bar or wine shop just wasn't top of mind. However, I had researched a Cabernet Franc (red wine) called Nicolas Reau Enlèvement Demandé Anjou [Vintage year: 2017]. Reau is kind of a rebel working in the Loire Valley of France who is interested in producing organic, biodynamic wines that are essentially closer to nature and processed differently--more artisanal, so to speak. I read about this wine and wanted to find a bottle locally, which wasn't an easy task as I recall. This is where Vinology comes in. I'm not much of a wine drinker, but had to have a bottle of this excellent wine. Like many people, I preferred to stay indoors during the early part of the pandemic and was kind of nervous about going out. When I called Vinology, I expressed my dilemma, and the guy on the other end of the phone came up with a great solution. He offered to deliver the bottle of wine I purchased to my address. I actually met him at the edge of the garage entrance to where I live. This was great, exceptional above and beyond service. I will always treasure and remember Vinology and plan to support the business more in the future. Hats off to the folks who own and run this wine establishment.

Unfortunately, after one of my classes there, I forgot my shoes that I had changed out of and I called them to see if they could look and they were very rude and hung up on me because they simply said no we can't do that. So I quickly messaged the instructor, knowing his classes were still going on, and not long after he messaged me back a picture and said are these your shoes and I'm so happy he did that because I don't trust this place to have cared, but to also have even looked after the class was over. He kindly left it with the staff there and let me know so I called and they were very rude and snappy to say "Yes OK?! we have them". I was unable to go that following week to pick them up so I went a little over a week later and I just wanted to call to confirm they were still there and the person again was very rude and simply said "YES WE ALREADY TOLD YOU A WEEK AGO THEY WERE HERE AND YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE COME TO PICK THEM UP SO IF YOU DIDN'T THEN THEY MUST STILL BE HERE!" and hung up. Since I was making the commute out there in traffic on a Friday with my daughter I decided to call back and ask that they confirm that they're still back there and the same gentleman answered, and very rudely said " LISTEN WE ARE NOT A SHOE STORE. SO NO WE ARE VERY BUSY!" and to no surprise been a surprise HUNG UP right after that. When I got there, there were tables open and the bartenders greeted me and clearly did not know. I was the same person that they had been very rudely talking to so I asked about the shoes he went and got them and I asked if he was the gentleman I had taught you on the phone and he couldn't even look me in the eye but still said "no". However, I recognized his voice and clearly knew it was him. This place is not only is very expensive for drinks and food, but the staff being the way they are no customer should ever be treated like this. I was not rude, was not angry, and yet was treated with such little respect. There are a bunch of other, really nice places with the same vibe and much nicer stuff that you can give your money to on a night out. **Update: completely disagree with your response, and the fact that you can't take ownership for the way that your staff talks to customers is exactly why I feel my review is very valid. I did not call 8 times. These were not house slippers. Also, some additional notes you made are not true.**
