This is by far one of the best pizzas in Toronto, period. Not just in the Detroit category but overall. The pizza looks thick but it is SO light. It doesn't feel like you're eating pizza! So delicious. We drive all the way from Ajax to eat it. One pizza could be good for two people. We order 2 between me and my husband and have 3 slices leftover to take home which reheat beautifully in the oven.

Wow! This has got to be one of the best Detroit style pizzas I've had. It's a very strong competitor to Descendants! The pizza was a great mix of being crispy and fluffy; the toppings were just the right amount and the taste was out of this world. It was also indeed quite a bit oily! The interior is nice and cute; decent amount of space to sit inside, and the service is also quite quick. We ordered two pizzas and it took about 15-20 minutes!

SLOWHAND Sourdough Pizza is easily one of my favourite pizza joints in East Toronto. They specialize in Detroit-style pizza -- thick, doughy, and full of Toronto charm. The restaurant has dine-in options and a dog-friendly patio, which is a nice touch. I ordered the classic pepperoni pizza -- a generous serving of cupping pepperoni topped with oregano and fresh basil. The sauce is excellent, but the real standout is the crust. It has a crispy, cheesy edge that's perfectly caramelized and packed with flavor. I also tried the garlic dipping sauce, which was great, but honestly not necessary -- the crust is that good. The pizzas are around $25 and are very filling, even if they look small at first. The team was friendly, and the service was quick. They do sell out fast, so it's best to order in advance. A great spot for anyone looking for high-quality, Detroit-style pizza done right.

The pizza here was so delicious! Crust was crispy and the dough was soft. The menu wasn't extensive but I think it makes it so much better to choose. We got the Pineapple Express and three little piggies. Both delicious. The location is not huge but they have a good amount of patio space. Chill vibes and it was pretty busy when we were there. Only downside was the wasps outside. They have 2 wasp catchers outside which helps but we still had a few bother us. There is seating inside, but limited. Also the staff were so nice and amazing. We had 2 pizzas split between 3 people and they were so kind to help cut the last 2 slices into 3. Would definitely come again.

Slowhand has been on my list to try since forever and finally I made the trip and I don't know why I didn't come here any sooner. Located on the East end of Toronto slowhound is definitely a fav amongst the locals with it being super busy and always having orders come in in the short time that we were there. It also has parking outside which is incredibly useful especially for downtown. They have some seating inside and apple seating outside so great place to go for a sunny day. The service is really friendly and I wasn't able to have one of the options on the pizza because it had meat on it and they were happy to replace it with one of my choosing toppings. I went for the pineapple and jalapeno pizza and it was so good. Crispy and cheesy and absolutely delightful. Not only is it really worth the price but the portion is huge and I had to take half of it home to finish for later. Even when I took it home and warmed it in the oven it was still so delicious. Slow hand is definitely one of my favorite pizza places and I have to come back here again

The best pizza in Toronto, and I found it because of a short IG reel. and to take things a step further, top 3 I've had in my life Dill pickle on pizza? oh I'm intrigued. this is exactly what brought me to Slowhand pizza in the Leslieville neighborhood. my original visit was in the dead of winter, but the inside was absolutely humid and warm, I wasn't even a step into the establishment and I was greeted instantly, I placed my order for the dill pickle pizza, dip and a water and I took a seat in the tiny and intimate sitting area. A quick 15 mins later, the pizza was IN front of me ready to be consumed, and it sounds crazy, but here is the toppings as per the website "What's the Dill Yo?" Sourdough crust, creamy roasted garlic sauce, mozzarella and swiss cheese, and lots of sliced dill pickles. Finished with fresh dill and a Carolina Gold mustard drizzle. This isn't labeled as a veggie pizza, but without any meat protein added to this pizza, this pizza brought me back in time to the first time I had a big mac, the mustard and pickle combo are identical to the same ones from the big mac of the 90's This pizza didn't make it home, absolutely demolished this in one sitting and this visit made me so happy to be able to experience this, I gave a bunch of thanks Subsequent visits solo and with others, the flavors, the consistency, and the service have remained at the top of my highly recommended places to check out in Toronto although they offer more then just "What's the Dill Yo?" I've tried other pizzas, and the dill pickle pizza is what I want until the end of time with this place. staff are great, I've had conversations with multiple members about how great this place is, and please don't change anything *prays* the negatives (small details) tiny parking lot for this shared plaza, a bunch of street parking nearby closed Monday and reduced hours Tuesday (if I take a day off, it's a Monday) one east end location only (open a west end spot, please) truly, the best pizza place in Toronto, just sucks it's on the east end, and is painful to get to from the west, especially with the gardener ramp gone.

We ordered some pizza from Slowhand on the weekend. What a great pie! We tried the double pepperoni and the Three Little Pigs. Both were excellent. The dough is light and not at all heavy and love that the edges are wonderfully crispy. Do recommend if you want to try something other than a traditional pie.

    The ambiance.

On a night signaling winter is here, I'm awfully glad this place has indoor seating. It's not fancy, but everything is clean and new. And it's warm. And the place smells great! I ordered their "Big Cheese", because many places put all kinds of toppings, creams, and potions on top of their pizzas, when the true test of taste is as basic as possible. Dough. Tomato sauce. Cheese. I'm not saying having more things on pizza makes a bad pizza, but if I'm going to a place for the first time, I go for the basics. Service was efficient and friendly. The place is pretty popular even on (or because of?) a cold and damp night. Of course, the best wine for a pizza is a Pop Shoppe 2024 Racinette. This is a very good Detroit style pizza. The depth of flavor from the sourdough crust really makes this crust a cut above other Detroit style pizzas I've had in town. But the crisp edges are still there, the cheese is quality, and the sauce has only a hint of sweetness, which is my preferred style. And the basil adds that hint of herbiness. Come in and get any of their pizzas, I'm sure you won't regret it! Yes, they are a bit more expensive than Pizza Pizza, so share one with a friend, because the four slices were very filling for this guy!

Pizza was crispy and tastes amazing. Had the Peter piper pizza and I did not regret. Pizza is a little bit of a wait but not too long. It came out fresh.

You must eat this right away. It's not the same when it cools down. They have a nice burn cheese crust around each slice. The dough reminds me of a nice focaccia bread. I love the amount of toppings. The spice from the hot honey and the sweetness of the ricotta is such a great balance. Definitely great to have parking in the front as well. The wait wasnt too long.

We went back yesterday for another taste of their delicious offerings. Their pizzas are very unique. They might look small in size, but don't be fooled by the flavour and the texture. Usually deep dish pizzas tend to be far too chewy with a whole Lotta dough. These are quite the contrary, with a lot of air and very light. They are very filling and one pizza is more than adequate for two people. We had the Mushaboom this time and it was really on point. This place is really designed for In-N-Out eating, or alfresco on their picnic tables outside. The service was very good and fast. The guys really know what they're doing behind the counter and it chose in the calibre of their product. This is now become our go to place for really high end pizza. Highly recommend.

Let me just say hands down best deep-dish pizza! First of all, it may not seem like a lot but one pizza is filling enough for two people and it is just absolutely delicious. They also have a variety of pizzas to choose from we went for the Peter Piper. It was sweet and salty and everything paired super well together. We also decided to try their garlic sauce! The garlic flavours are super strong and it is creamy and paired very well with the pizza. We decided to dine in and the service was great! The pizza was also done very quickly and was very fresh. They also have a bathroom which was very clean.

If I still lived in the Leslieville area, I'd probably be getting Slowhand's pizza too regularly. Their Detroit style pizza is cooked to perfection: come crunchy/crispy bits of cheese along the outter crust and a nice and airy thick sourdough crust. We tried the Fungus Amongus and Sting Me (their Big Cheese with the addition of drizzled hot honey) our first time there. Great toppings with all the flavours melding together beautifully. We will definitely be back again!

This is hands down the best pizza in Leslieville. Their signature crust is incredible, not too greasy, just the right amount of crisp.

This place gets a solid 4.5/5 for its authentic southern Italian food and very friendly & attentive…read moreservice. It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

They have a great stock of wines and an impressive drink list that we don't get to enjoy as we can't handle drinks these days. We do enjoy the food and the friendly service immensely tho. Lots of options for shareable apps; excellent options on pizzas and pastas; and I am always impressed with their mains (as someone that has to limit carbs, options can be limited at some Italian restos). They are also understanding of reasonable diet requests. They have gluten-free options as well. It is more of a "quiet" restaurant in terms of the clientele chatter, at least for the times I was there, so I can hear the music they play ("oldies"!!!!)
