Craving brunch and don't wanna go far from campus?? This place has it all! Sweet and savory! We ordered and shared for the table. If you are a peanut chocolate fan, The Buckeye pancakes were absolutely amazing. The burrito can be subbed with vegan chorizo for a vegetarian meal. We added the black bean sauce to our omelette for some extra healthy carbs and protein, it was a good choice! The amount of food for the price is definitely college student worthy. The "Sloopy's Pancakes" were very tasty. They had peanut butter and chocolate chips, quite good! However, the BLT was a little questionable. At first they forgot the tomato, but they quickly brought some after we asked. It was also dry since it didn't have mayo or anything on it. However, I may have overheard that the person who made it was new. Overall, the staff was nice, and the service was pretty quick. I would definitely recommend the pancakes, but maybe not the BLT.

Snoopy... Sloppy... whatever the name is. OSU certainly has its share of interesting on-campus dining options, and I must admit that I'm actually a fan of this little diner inside the Union. Sloopy's seems like THE place for meetings, casual dining with friends, and just a way to use your meal plan on something other than take out. It is much more low key in the summertime, but I think that is genuinely reflected in the student staff. I haven't had any awkward interactions with the workers here and the diner atmosphere here makes it seem almost too weird for it to be collegiate dining. But something about it works. Some standouts from the lunch meetings I've had in here include: - Garden Skillet topped with avocado, this is great for someone that's craving a savory breakfast item. - Chicken fingers are definitely a step up from some of the wings they have at Woody's next door, and you get a choice of dipping sauces to go with it - Salmon pasta was meh, but the fish itself was quite delightful for on-campus dining - Biscuits here were great! After your meal, be sure to grab one of their milkshakes or bump up your order to the nearest block with a cookie or two! They have a buckeye shake which I've still yet to try, most likely because the candy itself is so rich! But soon enough I'll sink my Californian taste buds into one. PS- NO TIPPING!! Yes, it's weird, but I dig it lol.

The Spec. Ed class I was subbing for just so happened to pick this casual sit-down restaurant for their regular Friday field trip. Their prior Student teacher is also a waitress here, so they were pumped to see her on her stomping grounds. This eatery is inside Student Union. It's a 1950s Diner setup with all the decor to match, and 50s music you know and can't help but sing along to playing out. It's American fare, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner: omelets, burgers, wraps, salads, and some simple entrees. Because this joint is thru OSU, your can find all the nutrition info online - good to know, for surfers and faculty. I got the Spinach Salad. Spinach, sliced strawberries, sliced almonds, poppyseed dressing. I needed some meat protein, so added grilled salmon and quinoa/lentils. Not bad. Nothing to brag about. But, it did fill me up. Would it have been awesome if the salmon where grilled fresh? Of course! All in all, it was a decent meal to eat while keeping an eye on students. The prices are pretty dang good - but then again, I'm no longer a college student.

Are you even an osu student if you havent been to sloopys??? Located in the ohio union, sloopys is like a mini old skool dive for osu students. You can definitely eat here as a non student too! They have a very expansive menu including breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Some of my absolute favs are their pancakes, pastas and shakes. The cajun chicken pasta is amazing. It has the perfect balance of cheesiness and heat. I also love their shakes, the cookies and cream and strawberry are my go to, but you really cant go wrong. Highly recommend stopping by to experience the osu atmosphere and eat some good, reasonably priced food.

For brunch, not bad. Gratuity is included in menu prices despite waiting service. Food was good and for $12 I was stuffed. The "skillet" I ordered had so many of my favorite things thrown together (hash browns, eggs, cheese, sour cream, avocado, broccoli, mushrooms...) and who knew they could all taste good together! Also ordered the chocolate chip pancakes, which were huge and I had to take home. Bad me. They were delicious, however, even hours later. I plan on going back next time the morning after calls! You just can't beat cheap brunch.

Best place to eat on campus for cheap. Grab anyone with a meal plan on a Sunday with extra swipes and get a great breakfast at Sloopy's. I've never had a negative experience food wise. You can't go wrong with the Sloopy pancake though! Sometimes waits are long so find out the right times to go or at least go put a name in early if you know it might be crowded. They are also known for their amazing milkshakes and I can second the fact that they do not disappoint. If you are just visiting OSU I recommend you heck out this diner attached to the OSU student union. Ideal location and great service!

Food is ok, service is quite sub par. Be prepared for long waits for food and mess ups with orders.

Terrible service, understaffed, and average food. Waited an hour and a half to get food. Unhappy college student.

Visited Northstar Cafe on a Saturday afternoon. Immediately upon stepping in I was excited. The…read morerestaurant is clean and beautiful perfect for any occasion. You order before you find a seat, and the host who took our order was so kind and down to earth. He gave us recommendations and affirmed our choices. I can't remember his name but, he was wearing a cast/sling so I hope he gets the appreciation he deserves. I ordered the Everyday Egg sandwich with bacon and substituted a biscuit in place of the brioche bun. I'm going to tell you right now - this was the best decision ever! I also ordered a single ricotta pancake, the breakfast potatoes the Country breakfast, and the iced strawberry matcha latte. The country breakfast and the everyday egg sandwich have the exact same presentation, I wish the country breakfast was presented with each item separately rather than stacked as a sandwich but it was still delicious. Just like on the Egg sandwich the eggs are the star, fluffy, cooked to perfection. The biscuits was golden brown and flaky and had a nice bite. It paired very nicely with the strawberry preserves. The ricotta pancake was a standout, fluffy and beautifully soft and lightly crispy on the edges. It is paired with fresh cut bananas. Everything was delicious. The only issues arose because the kitchen ran into an issue with their fryer preventing them from preparing the breakfast potatoes. It also caused a delay in them bringing out part of my meal. They jumped into action to apologize and they treated me to a chocolate chip cookie (delicious, warm and huge!) and a complimentary meal at my next visit. As I live out of town I chose to redeem this by ordering the simple salad to take home to which I added avocado. The salad was delicious, I loved the croutons and the light vinaigrette - the avocado added an enjoyable creaminess. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Columbus!
