The 5 star rating is truly for the service at Sloopy's! Jessica was our was server. What a gem she is ... bright, intelligent, friendly, beautiful, attentive, and sweet all wrapped up into one amazing person! Orders were taken in a timely manner, drinks were promptly brought to us as were our meals. Suggest the Manhattan sandwich and Quinoa bowl with shrimp. Both tasty and filling. Loved the eclectic ambiance of orchids everywhere!
Their service was friendly , server, Stephanie was patient as their coffee was too strong while my hubby kept asking for extra almond milk. I love their mimosa flights and their french toast... their tots are great as well - looked baked and not oily.
Adorable woodsy decor with cool seating. Best thing about it is our helpful, positive server Jessica, who has a GREAT vibe!!! Will be back.
This place stands out in a neighborhood where everything has more or less the same look. It feels more like an island cafe . The food is refreshing and good. The strawberry iced tea is so delicious - it's like a mocktail, but begs for a jigger of tequila or vodka. By itself, though, it's just perfect. I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the Asian chicken salad, and both were huge servings - definitely dinner-sized portions. The service was unremarkable, Jessica was so sweet, friendly, and just awesome and accommodating . The place itself is the real highlight - it's like you're dining in a cafe in Maui surrounded by orchids and plants, with a water feature that makes you want to stay and forget the world outside, even the beach that's just footsteps outside
To start off, I got the Spicy Tuna Bites, and they were good! You could actually taste the spice which I loved ! it's definitely flavorful. The lemonade was also really good and refreshing on such a hot day ! My only letdown was the Mahi Tacos, which were unfortunately quite dry and weren't my favorite. Despite the tacos, the rest of the menu looks amazing. I definitely want to come back to try some of their flights and their famous shakes! Not to mention I loved the aesthetic of the place, it was very pretty. And Tomas was super nice !
It was hard to find parking around here on a Saturday night. We ended up parking 2 blocks away and walking over. For a party of 2, we were seated immediately but took one of the last tables available. We had to sit outside but inside was pretty lively. It was very artsy and there was even live music. I ordered a chocolate shake, the famous zucchini sticks, and truffle kimchi fried rice. On a side note, I like how the breakfast menu is available until 2PM. The food took a bit over 10 minutes to arrive. The zucchini was delicious and pairs well with the ranch. It was lightly battered, melts in the mouth, and perfect. The fried rice came on a hot plate and it was really good too. The cheese, green onion, and kimchi work really well together. The bulgogi in the rice was also very good. The milkshake was really thick and my only complaint is that my compostable straw broke. Overall this is a really fun dinner spot.
Just off of highland you'll see the cutest little quaint resturant nestled in between another breakfast spot and other businesses. On the outside it looks like any other hole in the wall. No line awaiting to get in and on this hot sunny day surprisingly not anyone dining outside. Once you enter the doors your awestruck and greeted to a whimsical floral oasis, unique seating an abundance of orchids and a dreamy escape. The breakfast join on the outside was like stepping through the doors and entering another world. Speaking of "stepping" in, as a disabled traveler/ diner who switches between her cane and wheelchair i am sorry my chair friends your best option is to dined outdoors and hope you do not have to use the restroom as the place may be ADA friendly for some it is not truly handicap accessible as it is fairly narrow inside limiting the room to freely and comfortably move around on your own. Due to the unique nature with seating arrangements inside getting a table that works best indoors is not truly easy. The pathway to the restroom very narrow and although the restroom is fully handicap accessible please note the establishment itself is dated and was not built with us in mind. The day we dined i did have my cane and only needed to clear one step which was no issue given it was a good day. My struggle came with the pillows sliding in my chair that were for added comfort and that was all. When it came to the food , menu selection and the service 5 stars across the board maybe even more. Your senses and taste buds seemed to react to the menu as one glanced over. The breakfast choices sounded absolutely delicious. For generic items the combinations of fresh ingredients and seasonings made your mouth water with anticipation. The handheld section trapped me. I sat and contemplated should I do a burger, sandwich or a wrap. I have to look for options that tend to be MS friendly and there were so many options however although medically necessary I Hate having to pay extra for substitutions such as a gluten free bun $2.50 but knowing the brioche bun would not trigger a major reaction i opted for the Black and Blue burger medium well and upgraded to truffle fries. The burger was incredible in size. As the plate was placed in front of ne I was nearly salivating because the aroma of caramelized onions greated you first with a mixture of garlic and cajun spice. One bite and the taste buds hummed in satisfaction. The Angus beef patty cooled to perfection so juicy and thick cut. The taste box blue cheese crumble garlic aioli, caramelized onions and lettuce all in one bite had me devouring this burger. The truffle fries were not salty and flavored to perfection. When it came to the Mimosa flight it was not only aesthetically pleasing to look at, it was truly jam packed with unique flavors. My favorite in line was the Mango drago fruit first. Very light and fruity with the perfect amount of sweet to tangy flavor. Pair perfectly with the entire menu. The blue curacao elderflower was a unique and refreshing taste . Not as sweet but gave you a tropical earthy vibe not to over powering but just enough to linger on your tongue. In third was the lavender honey. Very floral and a fresh palette changer. A perfect after meal cocktail to wine down with. The lavender flavor was very floral and delicious. Comparable to rose water so if you dont like floral stay away from this one. They also offer coffee and tea flights while you dine. My overall verdict 4.5/5 service was phenomenal food delicious cocktails tasty. I will be back and a frequent traveler I just dont feel to the demographic I write for it is necessarily a great spot for those who use larger mobility aides as its not handicapped friendly but? If you dont mind dining outside give this place a try. I've lived here my entire life and can't believe how I never visited a resturant that would transport tou the momemt you stepped inside.
We popped in on a late afternoon/ early evening Saturday to no wait and a fairly empty place. It looks like a green house with all the plants and has an outdoor feel to it. Service was friendly and the food was decent. I think breakfast may be better, best on other reviews. But this served our purpose after a nice bike ride. The shakes were also extremely tasty!
The service was amazing! The owner came in to care for the orchids, as it was at closing time and he is incredibly friendly. I had the coffee flight...sooooo beautiful! I would love it even more with espresso instead, but it was still good. And the truffle fries were to die for. But the ambiance is the most incredible part of the whole place...it's absolutely magical.
Excellent place! Jessica was our server and really was A1. We had the Chinese chicken salad and the Cobb salad. Our favorite part was the strawberry lemonade!!

The food was good I recommend the spicy tuna and the Avocado Bacon Burger! Besides that service was amazing! Amber was our server the absolute most amazing and attentive server ever! Not only was she sweet and kind to customers but to her colleagues as well! Would go back for the amazing chai latte and Ambers sweet service!
Pretty good spot. A very unique and delicious breakfast burrito! Parking is a bitch to find. Service was friendly. Nice ambiance - reminded me of Cambria or Carmel with all of the plants inside.

Came here for lunch on a Friday afternoon and we got a spot easily. This restaurant is so cute and is bigger than it looks from the outside. They have a good amount of seating inside and a few tables outside next to the street to choose from. It was the holiday season so they had a bunch of Christmas lights and decorations hung up which I loved! Christmas vibes by the beach.... YES PLEASE! Our waitress was super nice and attentive. The food was super yummy and came out fast. The mimosa flights were mix and match and hit the spot. I got the white peach, Hawaiian and lavender honey. They were all super yummy but my favorite was the white peach. They come in pretty small glasses but they will last you the entire lunch which was nice. Parking isn't easy here so I would recommend parking in the parking structure a few blocks down the street and walking over. I definitely will be coming back! read more

Food was ok. Service was lacking. Had to ask twice for coffee and tea refills. Had to ask for the check. Waitress was just slow and not paying attention. Parking is near impossible. Came here in 1980. 45 years later, not impressed. read more

Excellent food and location. Service was also great. The portions are a bit on the lighter side but all excellent. Cocktail sauce had a good flavor and if you're like me and are not a tartar sauce. This one was surprisingly tasty. Parking to get in was a challenge due to location but the rest was spot on. if ever back would definitely visit again. read more

Been on my list for a while and so glad we did. It was a chilly morning, so we sat near the fireplace which made it much cozier! The cafe's outdoor element has a lot of bitanicals giving it a homey feel. Intrigued by the unique and uncommon menu item, Duck confit hash, I just had to order it. This is such a lovely bowl, an upgrade in comfort food. Note: Slightly gamey if you're sensitive. The over-easy egg was a great topper, too. The Hubs ordered a no-brainer, the breakfast burrito which was bomb. The tortilla had a nice crisp toasted flavor straight from the grill. Served with an over-easy egg and unique as far as burritos go, artichoke! The breakfast potatoes included had crispy edges which is exactly how I Iike it. Service was friendly and professional. My coffee cup overrunneth! Great coffee BTW! Metered street parking. Will be back again. read more

This little beer and wine bar/restaurant is so cute with water features and plants flourishing in the indoor outdoor space. Service is wonderful. The mimosa flight has clever juice options and it is delicious. Shrimp Caprese pasta is hearty and sooo good! The Brussels sprouts melt in your mouth. Tiramisu is house made and absolutely fabulous. I went at the end of a long crazy day and the vibes and tastes of this place cured all my woes. read more

Don't let the sleepy/sloppy name fool ya this place is a gem! Super cozy inside with an open flame fire pit and space heaters. Flowers, flowers, EVERYWHERE!! Our server said the owners change the plants out but the interior was flooded with beautiful orchids when we went. All the food was great! Their famous zucchini sticks are huge and definitely a must-get. We enjoyed the breakfast tacos with side of sweet potato tots, also yum! Beverage flights are always fun for new guests and we enjoyed the mimosa flight. They also have a coffee flight. Our server even brought us an ice cream dessert for my mom's birthday Stop in next time you're looking for a cute cafe away from the busyness of the MB pier. A favorite of mine 15 years ago when i worked nearby. I went back recently, hoping it would still be there, and was excited it was. It was remodeled years ago and changed to table service, but kept all its great things i loved. The owner has style on many levels- good vibe, cute custom interior, plants, ocean air, unique furniture, fire pit, very deep menu, real food, i could eat off that menu many times before i tried all that looked good. It's been a gem of the area for years. my favorite parts of California while avoiding some of LAs typical downsides. parking is hard- still GO! Then walk to the beach after. read more

Came here on our way to the airport. Very cozy casual ambience and the kind waitresses. I got the Mother Nature sandwich and shared the Mac and Cheese. The food came out pretty fast! The sandwich was good, had a ton of veggies and the aioli was a nice touch!! The Mac and cheese was great! So cheesy and the sauce wasn't too watery. Overall good food and recommend to those looking for a quick bite! read more

Man what a total bummer this meal was today!!! I have been a life long customer and i guess after 40+ years a bad experience was bound to happen but DAMNIT! I really wish it hadnt of. So here is what happened Waited a good 10 minutes to be asked my order Once taken server never came back. I was up charged $3.50 on a bennie for a single slice of bread. This has not happened before so less food more money. No one asked how meal was! Had to ask for hot sauce. Basically ignored until the busser dropped a check. And it was for a different table. The loud young college girls complaining of their privilege was the kicker. Damnit cause the food as always was amazing!!!! read more

Been wanting to come here forever. I have friends who rave about the burgers. Parking in this part of the city can be challenging but I decided to go during non-prime hours to check out the burgers for myself. Well, first of all, I was almost swayed by all the yummy-looking breakfast items but I stayed on track. The decor isn't usually the first thing I write about but I couldn't help but being drawn in by the cool vibe. We arrived at about 1015am on an overcast July Monday. I was pleasantly surprised to see a fire roaring in the pit-style fireplace. There is also a heat lamp in the room so it makes you realize you're kind of eating outdoors, but fully sheltered from the elements. The light that filtered in from the fiberglass roof just added to the ambience. Several of the tabletops were organic-shaped cross-sections of trees that had been sanded and polished. Hanging plants and orchid-filled pots completed the look. Our server was Grace and she was friendly and attentive. I ordered the classic burger. It was too tall for me to bite into. It was good, especially if you like thick poppyseed buns but they, unfortunately, are not my fav. The bun was too thick for my taste. Hard to handle and broke apart. Maybe they should offer a different option. That's a suggestion. The fries were awesome. Very hot and thin...just how I like them! This place has been here since the '67 so they clearly know what they're doing but I wish they had fountain drinks instead of cans because I like free refills. A bonus for Yelpers... you are invited to write a review in exchange for a milk shake. I was already going to write a review so that was a nice bonus! I got a chocolate raspberry shake and it was excellent! Not huge but really good! I'm sorry it's taken me so long to visit Sloopy's but I do intend to come back. read more

After driving passed this restaurant so many times, I finally stopped here for breakfast. This is such a pretty restaurant; so many plants, the table tops are made from tree stumps, loved everything about the ambiance! We were sat next to the fire pit towards the front of the restaurant, which was perfect because it was a chilly morning. The menu has amazing and unique options to choose from! Gourmet coffee and tea, breakfast (8am-2pm), lunch, and dinner (4pm-9pm) menus available. I started with a matcha latte with almond milk, so good! I then ordered the breakfast harvest bowl. Everything was amazing, very tasteful and cooked perfectly! I got the red peppers on the side as well. Can't wait to be back to try other things on the menu! read more

We went with a large group of family and friends from out of town. A total of 14 people. They were able to accommodate all of us. Food was good and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again. Next time I want to sit inside. The inside is so cute it looks like a lil garden. read more
BRUNCH REVIEW: We have been coming to Sloopy's for years for their amazing, innovative and 5 star burgers but haven't been here for brunch before. We have had a craving for Lobster Eggs Benedict after seeing it on the menu at another restaurant in Venice where the lobster meal we had there was extremely disappointing. When we typed lobster eggs Benedict in Yelp we were surprised to see Sloopy's come up but knowing how good literally everything we've ever had here is, we were down for some culinary wanderlusting to an old go-to. If you've never been to Sloopy's before, the ambience is an A+++ - This is a really awesome small restaurant on Highland in the thick of Manhattan beach restaurants. The inside is rustic with a lot of plants, wood, skylights and a fire pit just inside the door and feels like you are dining in a garden which is a very nice & chill vibe. So on to our meal - We got the Lobster Eggs Benedict ($37.95) for a large lobster (served restaurant style on top of the shell for presentation) and some of the best Benedict around (see my picture). They brush the lobster with a garlic truffle oil before cooking and it is fantastic! I also recommend getting a side of drawn butter. It comes with cubed & perfectly seasoned fried potatoes and some of the best tasting sautéed onions & bell peppers I've ever had. This item is a MUST TRY! We also got an order of French toast ($14) which was very large and covered with fresh berries and drizzled with chocolate. (see my picture) I also have to give special props to the butter that came out with it - I believe it was honey butter but so delicious! We also got a side of the pork shoulder smoked bacon which was equally fantastic. My only note is that I wish the bacon was thicker, but it was smoked to perfection in taste. They also serve illy coffee here ($3.45) which is an Italian coffee that has a 4 star rating on Amazon and is much better than standard restaurant coffee. I am proud to give Sloopy's a glowing 5 star review for this wonderful brunch on a glorious Sunday morning at the beach! We will be back to try other brunch items! read more
Came here on Monday for a little brunch with my sister. As soon as you walk in it is the coziest and cutest most tranquil place you could ever walk into. Although that may be different on a weekend. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive at the beginning. Our food was brought out really fast and was delicious. Zucchini sticks - amazing. The perfect consistency. Breakfast bowl - my sister ordered this and I didn't try it but she loved it with all of the grains and vegetables. Salmon salad - this was amazing. Full of flavor fresh hit the spot. French toast - really good. But i wish the fruit was integrated more into the french toast. Bacon - i could have eaten the whole plate. The only reason it didn't give them five stars was because the waitress was the only one working that day and I had to stop her several times for certain items. I don't blame her, she was actually really good, but if people had called out she could've use some assistance with checking waters and coffee's so she wasn't all alone. read more
