Their service was friendly , server, Stephanie was patient as their coffee was too strong while my hubby kept asking for extra almond milk. I love their mimosa flights and their french toast... their tots are great as well - looked baked and not oily.
This place stands out in a neighborhood where everything has more or less the same look. It feels more like an island cafe . The food is refreshing and good. The strawberry iced tea is so delicious - it's like a mocktail, but begs for a jigger of tequila or vodka. By itself, though, it's just perfect. I had the Cobb salad and my husband had the Asian chicken salad, and both were huge servings - definitely dinner-sized portions. The service was unremarkable, Jessica was so sweet, friendly, and just awesome and accommodating . The place itself is the real highlight - it's like you're dining in a cafe in Maui surrounded by orchids and plants, with a water feature that makes you want to stay and forget the world outside, even the beach that's just footsteps outside
To start off, I got the Spicy Tuna Bites, and they were good! You could actually taste the spice which I loved ! it's definitely flavorful. The lemonade was also really good and refreshing on such a hot day ! My only letdown was the Mahi Tacos, which were unfortunately quite dry and weren't my favorite. Despite the tacos, the rest of the menu looks amazing. I definitely want to come back to try some of their flights and their famous shakes! Not to mention I loved the aesthetic of the place, it was very pretty. And Tomas was super nice !
It was hard to find parking around here on a Saturday night. We ended up parking 2 blocks away and walking over. For a party of 2, we were seated immediately but took one of the last tables available. We had to sit outside but inside was pretty lively. It was very artsy and there was even live music. I ordered a chocolate shake, the famous zucchini sticks, and truffle kimchi fried rice. On a side note, I like how the breakfast menu is available until 2PM. The food took a bit over 10 minutes to arrive. The zucchini was delicious and pairs well with the ranch. It was lightly battered, melts in the mouth, and perfect. The fried rice came on a hot plate and it was really good too. The cheese, green onion, and kimchi work really well together. The bulgogi in the rice was also very good. The milkshake was really thick and my only complaint is that my compostable straw broke. Overall this is a really fun dinner spot.
Just off of highland you'll see the cutest little quaint resturant nestled in between another breakfast spot and other businesses. On the outside it looks like any other hole in the wall. No line awaiting to get in and on this hot sunny day surprisingly not anyone dining outside. Once you enter the doors your awestruck and greeted to a whimsical floral oasis, unique seating an abundance of orchids and a dreamy escape. The breakfast join on the outside was like stepping through the doors and entering another world. Speaking of "stepping" in, as a disabled traveler/ diner who switches between her cane and wheelchair i am sorry my chair friends your best option is to dined outdoors and hope you do not have to use the restroom as the place may be ADA friendly for some it is not truly handicap accessible as it is fairly narrow inside limiting the room to freely and comfortably move around on your own. Due to the unique nature with seating arrangements inside getting a table that works best indoors is not truly easy. The pathway to the restroom very narrow and although the restroom is fully handicap accessible please note the establishment itself is dated and was not built with us in mind. The day we dined i did have my cane and only needed to clear one step which was no issue given it was a good day. My struggle came with the pillows sliding in my chair that were for added comfort and that was all. When it came to the food , menu selection and the service 5 stars across the board maybe even more. Your senses and taste buds seemed to react to the menu as one glanced over. The breakfast choices sounded absolutely delicious. For generic items the combinations of fresh ingredients and seasonings made your mouth water with anticipation. The handheld section trapped me. I sat and contemplated should I do a burger, sandwich or a wrap. I have to look for options that tend to be MS friendly and there were so many options however although medically necessary I Hate having to pay extra for substitutions such as a gluten free bun $2.50 but knowing the brioche bun would not trigger a major reaction i opted for the Black and Blue burger medium well and upgraded to truffle fries. The burger was incredible in size. As the plate was placed in front of ne I was nearly salivating because the aroma of caramelized onions greated you first with a mixture of garlic and cajun spice. One bite and the taste buds hummed in satisfaction. The Angus beef patty cooled to perfection so juicy and thick cut. The taste box blue cheese crumble garlic aioli, caramelized onions and lettuce all in one bite had me devouring this burger. The truffle fries were not salty and flavored to perfection. When it came to the Mimosa flight it was not only aesthetically pleasing to look at, it was truly jam packed with unique flavors. My favorite in line was the Mango drago fruit first. Very light and fruity with the perfect amount of sweet to tangy flavor. Pair perfectly with the entire menu. The blue curacao elderflower was a unique and refreshing taste . Not as sweet but gave you a tropical earthy vibe not to over powering but just enough to linger on your tongue. In third was the lavender honey. Very floral and a fresh palette changer. A perfect after meal cocktail to wine down with. The lavender flavor was very floral and delicious. Comparable to rose water so if you dont like floral stay away from this one. They also offer coffee and tea flights while you dine. My overall verdict 4.5/5 service was phenomenal food delicious cocktails tasty. I will be back and a frequent traveler I just dont feel to the demographic I write for it is necessarily a great spot for those who use larger mobility aides as its not handicapped friendly but? If you dont mind dining outside give this place a try. I've lived here my entire life and can't believe how I never visited a resturant that would transport tou the momemt you stepped inside.
We popped in on a late afternoon/ early evening Saturday to no wait and a fairly empty place. It looks like a green house with all the plants and has an outdoor feel to it. Service was friendly and the food was decent. I think breakfast may be better, best on other reviews. But this served our purpose after a nice bike ride. The shakes were also extremely tasty!
The service was amazing! The owner came in to care for the orchids, as it was at closing time and he is incredibly friendly. I had the coffee flight...sooooo beautiful! I would love it even more with espresso instead, but it was still good. And the truffle fries were to die for. But the ambiance is the most incredible part of the whole place...it's absolutely magical.
Excellent place! Jessica was our server and really was A1. We had the Chinese chicken salad and the Cobb salad. Our favorite part was the strawberry lemonade!!
The food was good I recommend the spicy tuna and the Avocado Bacon Burger! Besides that service was amazing! Amber was our server the absolute most amazing and attentive server ever! Not only was she sweet and kind to customers but to her colleagues as well! Would go back for the amazing chai latte and Ambers sweet service!

Pretty good spot. A very unique and delicious breakfast burrito! Parking is a bitch to find. Service was friendly. Nice ambiance - reminded me of Cambria or Carmel with all of the plants inside.

Service was awesome and the food was delicious. I went here on a lunch date and it was literally my first time eating here. The food was great and the service was awesome. It's a small hidden gem. I'm pretty sure the prices were a bit pricey but I wasn't paying. I definitely plan to revisit this spot again in the near future. Oh we also ordered mimosas and they were fire!!! Overall my first date experience was amazingly memorable. He did good not gone lie for our very first date. read more

Sadly, we came at 11:30am on a weekday and they ran out of the lobster Benedict. We settled for the pork shoulder Benedict, side of country potatoes, and an antioxidant salad for lunch. The shop is cute and decorated well. It felt comforting to hang out in there after a long drive from all the way from Corona. The food was delicious and had quality ingredients. We didn't feel weighed down like we usually do after having brunch. The country potatoes were so crispy and flavorful. Kellie told us that they don't normally run out, but since it's the day before Christmas, they didn't want it to be sitting in the freezer. This tells me their shipments are fresh and worth it for another trip. read more

I was having a late massage about a block down the street and noticed their sign (a friend had recommended them too) so I thought it was perfect to stop in. I got seated right away and it was tough to decide off the menu. I ended up getting the grilled shrimp caprese pasta and it was amazing. Usually places with shrimp like to give just a couple...I had at least 7! Score! Parking wasn't too bad for me but I could see how it would be a pain during the week. I went on a Saturday night and found parking no problem just a block away. PS: their plain cheesecake was pretty great too! read more

This is one of fave local spots. The food is always great - but this last time I was here the service was exceptional. Our server Grecia went above and beyond. She was so attentive and so sweet. I wanted something that was on their dinner menu during breakfast hours and she asked the kitchen and they made it happen! That was really sweet of them and it was amazing. I got the montanara chicken pasta, my boyfriend got the harvest bowl, & we shared an order of brussel sprouts. Everything was insanely good. read more
Surprisingly, the food tasted so good! Good service. Sweet potato tots were small, warm and crispy. It paired well with the sauce. Chicken club with a spinach wrap with no bacon tasted perfect. It was warm and flavorful. The coleslaw and side salad were light, but tasted great too. 100% satisfied. Love the ambience. I saw a coffee or espresso flight that looked worth ordering for next time. [Review #443] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (95/100) OTM Club 07/07/19-07/13/19 This week's OTM Club offerings were really out of the way except for Sloopy's Beach Cafe; it's practically in my backyard but local traffic prevents it from being an easy drive (still took 30+ mins.). :-O OTM Club/Sloopy's SUSHI BURRITO (nori, sushi rice, sriracha aioli, spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, carrots, cucumber, wonton strips) is a temptation I can't resist even though I never visited the restaurant. I was a bit concerned about parking & couldn't figure out where is the private lot; luckily I scored a metered space out front with plenty of minutes left. Yay! En route to the restaurant, I said I was redeeming the OTM Club offer & adding a regular order (Sushi Burrito). I was told I had to enjoy my offer at the restaurant, no takeout. =( Not a big deal, but I wanted to enjoy it with my hubby who was home because he was feeling well to eat out. I picked a window seat by the entrance while I waited for my order, & it came quickly. The OTM Club Sushi Burrito is smaller than the sizable regular burrito, so it wasn't filling but satisfies your taste buds. Good flavor, but uneven ratio of protein to rice, there was too much rice overwhelming the spicy tuna & tempura shrimp. I liked the heat from aioli, & added texture from the wonton strips & shrimp. The burrito held up quite well & didn't fall apart like some other purveyors. The regular size burrito was indeed filling; according to my hubby, it was quite enjoyable & satisfying. However, due to the long drive, there was condensation causing the shoestring fries to be lukewarm & somewhat limpy. I had a couple during my drive home & they were pretty good, though not all were crispy. I liked the restaurant's atmosphere/dining room... very zen & tropical feel; there's also an outdoor patio in the back. Service is friendly & efficient... a bit chillax so if you're in a hurry, you better let your server know to get you in & out quick. Prices lean on the pricey side (because of location, ingredients?); I haven't figured out if it's worth it yet until I explore the rest of their menu. Parking is definitely an issue in this area (need to know/confirm if they have a private lot)... while there's lots of metered parking, this location is also primed with eateries & businesses so it's a definite challenge to get a decent, walkable spot. And they're in effect daily, including weekends so make sure you fill up that meter! Sloopy's looks like a fun place to relax after a day at the beach; it has a decent menu with something for everyone, including kiddos. Food was good, not amazing not great. We ordered the breakfast sandwich with tots and the Numero Uno signature burger, one matcha latte and one white peach mimosa. Came here with my friend to catch up over food, we were asked to leave about 25 minutes into our meal. They were nice, enough. They offered us boxes right away, and one of the waiters even turned to my friend and told her he has a line out the door. Strange. The vibes are cute, but maybe come when it is their down time, or pick somewhere else for a Sunday Brunch, or you will find yourself getting rushed out. read more

NEVER AGAIN! I have lived a long time and I have never experienced such a bait and switch as this place. We ordered our food and when it came time to pay, the bill was 4 dollars more on one of the items. We informed the waitress and she told us that they have a policy that prices are subject to change according to the market. She was able to point out that it was indeed written in small font at the bottom of the menu. However, there was no explanation as to what, when, or why the new price would apply. It certainly did not list the item that we ordered as 39.95. It was listed on the menu for 35.95. So who is to stop them from up charging whatever they want, whenever they want? Their system is ludicrous and they explained that they kept having to order new menus so they just put that little blurb in about prices can change without notice. We suggested a digital menu if they need to be so cheap! Welcome to owning a business where your expenses fluctuate!!!! The waitress had to call the owner to have it corrected because we flat out refused to pay the difference. Not a relaxing or enjoyable dining experience and I do not enjoy someone trying to take advantage of me. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Came in for the first time to try brunch and it was a great experience. The ambiance was so nice, definitely loved all the flowers they have around the place. My boyfriend and I tried the fried zucchini sticks and they were ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS !! I will definitely be coming back specially for those. We also each had a mimosas flight and they have A TON of flavors to choose from. We tried the lobster eggs Benedict, wasn't what I pictured in my head but, I was super tasty! Our server was also super sweet and very attentive, I feel bad I didn't get her name but we definitely look forward to coming back again real soon read more
I loved this place! It's two blocks away from the beach and the view is great. Coming here feels like your transported to an island oasis. There's so many flowers and greenery and it makes it super cozy. I recommend making a reservation because it's a popular spot. Parking is relatively easy to find as well because there are a lot of side streets. Food was pretty good as well! My friend got the burger and truffle fries and I got the mushroom toast with poached eggs and it came with a side salad. I'd definitely come here again! read more

There are so many great things to say about this place... The food is really great, crispy Brussel sprouts, bacon, sweet potato tots or salmon All so delicious! Get the mimosa flight or if you are going for the very awesome burger have one of their craft beers!! The staff are awesome, like they are your small town crew. I had a group of 6, they let me reserve table and I didn't have to wait for all of group to arrive to be seated. It feels like they all love this place and are happy to see you. Sloppys!!! We started the meal off with their famous zucchini sticks $14. Fried to crispy perfection. This time i tried their Berry BBQ sandi with sweet potato tater tots $17.95 (+ a hidden $4 up charge for the tots, I mean I can see a buck or two but $4?). Both were good, but the chicken on the Sammy could have been thicker/bigger. BF got the bacon and cheddar guacamole burger $18.95 and it was so delicious as you can taste the char. He got mashed potatoes as his side and they were off the chain and my favorite item of the meal. Perfectly creamy and buttery. Bill with tip came to over $70 (for a couple of sandwiches and some fried zucchini) but it sure did taste good. And the ambiance is always amazing at this beach haven. read more

The bacon cheddar guac burger at Sloopy's Beach Cafe, located in the beautiful El Porto neighborhood of Manhattan Beach, CA was a killer meal. Sloopy's has been a local favorite for over 50 years just steps from the Pacific Ocean. The poppy seed bun was toasted perfectly giving a nice crunch. The guac was fresh and packed with the perfect amount of lime. Everyone loves bacon and this addition was solid. Thin crispy bacon to not take away from the burgers flavor. Great fries, great service, and an A+ atmosphere. Highly recommend for brunch, and a low key amazing dinner menu! read more

The service was great and accommodating as far as putting our tables together (as we were a group of eight) and....It did take over 15 minutes to receive our "flights" of champagne...however, they were presented very elegantly . I felt comfortable and relaxed in the environment and would have stayed longer. As far as the Crispy Brussel Sprouts....I'm going to give them an A+ ; however, my BLT Breakfast Sandwich....C- . The most important part of the sandwich (the pork shoulder) was the size of a quarter with no avocado on one side of my sandwich...I ask for the fig glaze on the side (I didn't receive) ordered the extra: Brie ...never received...lots and lots of egg whites Very disappointed about the pork shoulder quarter size on both sides of my sandwich. At first glance this place is beautiful! The decor and the coziness feeling was so warm and inviting. You walk in and there's a little wood fire that kept the front of the restaurant warm and throughout the restaurant they had heaters to keep us warm! The service is quick! The staff is super friendly and very attentive anything we needed they brought it in a jiffy. Based off the photos online the food looked very enticing and delicious. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me. Don't get me wrong the presentation was nice but the flavor wasn't there for me. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and they were absolutely delicious, sweet and a bit of spicy! It made me excited to try the rest of it. I went half with my sister and we got the berry bbq chicken sandwich and the black and blue burger. What it lacked was flavor. It needed a little more love and seasoning it just tasted plain and bland. I also got the potatoes and it was a bit of a let down. This place has everything going for them but it just needed more flavor! I would be back for their drinks! The food just needs a little work. I visited Manhattan Beach this past weekend and this restaurant was by far my favorite spot! The atmosphere was beautiful with all the plants and fireplace. The service was quick and super friendly -- Jackie was attentive and always refilled my coffee cup before I knew it was empty! My favorite dish was the breakfast blt with brie and definitely get the sweet potato tots (it's worth the upgrade!) This will be my go-to spot everytime I visit MB :). read more
