Recently discovered this gem. Service is good, food is consistently good and their breakfasts are my fav.

Sloan's has a diverse menu and so far everything I've tried has been delicious. However, the service can be a little iffy at times and the restaurant needs a deep cleaning, it's clean on the surface, however, there is a funky, musky smell, they need to steam clean the carpets, clean the crevices of the booths, check the drains. I really enjoyed my food and will most likely return on my next visit to the area, however, it would be better without the funk. Giant, delicious breakfasts, for IHOP prices. This place was super hyped up to me by my dining companions. Some folks love that Dutch Baby German pancake. It's a very thin, large pancake drenched in butter, with powdered sugar, and lemon slices that you are supposed to squeeze all over the pancake. The whole thing sounded disgusting to me, but I tasted it, and it was really good. It's different, it's delicious, and it's fun. the lemon juice, powdered sugar, and butter combo somewhow works. That said, the large pancake is $8.99. Screw that. Have a bite of someone else's. For $9.25, I got 2 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, lots of hash browns, and 2 PERFECT pancakes. I like most breakfast places, because I like breakfast. I'm picky about bacon (their bacon was damn good, but not the best in world), but I'm not too picky about pancakes, as long as they are cooked. Well, slap me silly - I didn't know that pancakes could be as good as the ones I got. They were thick, hot, and somewhow special... the batter was simply tastier than other pancakes. I have no idea what it was, but the regular pancakes at Sloan's were the start of the show, for me. Service was great, coffee was good, and the price was fine by me. Should I find myself in Indio again, I'll definitely be at Sloan's. Also, Indio is not far from Palm Desert - so consider the side trip, if you're resorting it up in Palm Desert. Started good. Veggie need soup was delicious. The entree? Not so good. My husband ordered pork chops-one was almost raw, the other done pretty well. They took both back to get new plate & cook the pork chop more. They came back cooked & except for a bit too much seasoning, they were good. This is still the good part. Now the bad. I ordered Roast Turkey with dressing-but thin turkey like you get in a deli but so dry it was stiff and had a funny flavor-like not good. They took my turkey back for something else-not pork chops because they take 20 minutes to cook (in what universe?) so I got what was quick...pot roast. The pot roast was identical to the turkey except it was brown-thin, dry, stiff, nasty taste. I gave up. The Sides. The mashed was pretty good and the green beans were fresh and tasty. The biscuits were really good with butter & honey. These were my dinner. In some places, you need to know what is safe to order. This may be true here- but we are not willing to give it another go. Absolutely one of the best brunch spots I've been to - The servers were ridiculously accommodating and provided the utmost attention to our group - a rather large group after the Coachella Weekend 2 music festival. We had roughly 15 people, and although they had to take the time to ensure we sat together, they obliged us within a reasonable frame. We were able to sit, order and enjoy our post-music festival experience with a very large and infamous bloody mary (pictured) with all the fixings and select from their decadent selections of breakfast options. My friend ordered the chorizo omelette and I ordered the create your own, adding spinach, avocado, and tomatoes. Such words escape the description, as I was delighted by how appetizing it all came to be. I had 2 requirements for my breakfast: 1) that is be on road heading towards the freeway (since I was going home), and 2) that it not be a chain restaurant. This met both, and it had a good enough rating that my chick and I decided to give it a try. It felt very antiquated inside, with furnishings and moulding that probably hasn't changed since it opened. And I was totally ok with that because I love the old-school vibe that older establishments in this area maintain. We were seated and presented with their large menu, which is very much like you'd expect from a breakfast-lunch-dinner diner. Some items were marked with a symbol to indicate it was one of their specialties, one of which being the Fireman's Scramble. This morning colossus contained scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, cheese, and kielbasa. In short, this is the dream meal for a carnivorous glutton such as myself. Naturally, I had to order it. They brought it out in a massive skillet that weighed about 10 pounds. The plethora of meat was slightly intimidating; there was just so much of it. I dug in and made a sizeable dent before I had to pause for digestion purposes. When all was said an done, I still hadn't eaten the entire thing. It was absurdly delicious, though. The eggs and cheese were well cooked, as was the bacon. The ham had a bit of a rubbery quality to it. I could have easily done without it. The kielbasa, which is what sold me on the dish in the first place, was excellent. I don't know if I've ever had kielbasa with breakfast, but it worked surprisingly well. The service was efficient; our waitress was on the ball. Total bill was somewhere around $15 or so before tip, akin to Denny's, IHOP, etc. Good for a quick morning bite. I'd probably go back if given the opportunity, but there isn't much here to distinguish it from any other diner. read more

Get one and split it and then get your own entree or split the entree. This place has huge portions-entrees come with two sides! Surprisingly good, and probably the best brunch spot in the area and possibly better than whats available in Palm Springs. We grabbed the chorizo benedict, cowboy scramble , some french toast plate, and some bloody marys. A full bar probably gave this place an extra star alone, but the food was tastey. Our favorite breakfast place. We go every weekend. The Dutch Baby German pancake with butter, a dusting of powdered sugar and fresh lemons is a MUST HAVE. The Chipotle Bacon omelet is fabulous. There is something for every taste and appetite. Besides the large dining areas they also have a small lounge with full bar service. Sloane's was formerly part of the Elmer's chain. When the franchise agreement was up for renewal the Sloane family did not re-up but instead changed the name. For being a Sunday, it wasn't packed. We got seated right away. Noise level is medium as families with children were there. Wood beam ceilings and dim lights. However theres plenty of natural light coming in from all the windows. Crowd: Casual dress and mainly seniors and families. Not a good option if you're looking for classy or upscale. It was delicious! Its about a foot in diameter. I never had it before so this was a treat for me. Its thin and buttery with crispy browned edges. It has a mixture savory and sweet flavors. We also ordered the Franken Mary. This drink was huge!! You wont need to order a plate as this serves as your drink and breakfast. It has everything but the kitchen sink! Food items on the drink were typical bar food and tasted average. But if you're i to trying different versions on bloody Mary's it has to be a must. Location Repeat? We were heading back to AZ and wanted a family sit down meal. Sloans is off the freeway about 8 Miles but sooo worth it! I can't do gluten and I wanted fish tacos so Esmeralda (our adorable waitress), mentioned I could get them grilled. Yuuuum! My husband got Fried Chicken, 4 pieces. He even ate the breast because it was that good. My nephew got the Chipotle chicken sandwich. Instantly sounds of happiness from the first bite! The place is a little dated but so very clean. Stoped by for breakfast and ordered the German pancake. The pancake came out burnt all over the top edge. Not a great first impression. The staff were nice but service was lacking . I ordered coffee and asked for creamer. The staff never asked if I wanted plain or flavored creamer. I asked because I saw some on other tables. Other food served looked mediocre. Will we return?
