Oh my gah!! This place is so delicious!! We were visiting Palm Springs and wanted to venture out further east for breakfast. I really wanted pancakes and I'm super picky when looking at pics. So, I landed on The Palms Cafe after scouring pall the options in the local Yelp recommendations. Parking was a breeze as there is a large lot with plenty of parking. We were greeted as we walked in by the friendly staff. It seemed to be a hot spot for locals and the place was buzzing on a Sunday morning. There was plenty of table seating and also a fully stocked bar with seating as well. We opted for the bar and were instructed to choose our seats The menu was extensive and offered so many good options. I am a breakfast person and have tried so many restaurants, of course. This is by far now a top favorite of mine and my family. We will definitely be coming back when we visit the area. I ordered: Chicken Fried Steak - really good / pretty standard Soft Scrambled Eggs (add cheese) - The best soft scramble so far at a restaurant. Home fries - good Pancakes - outta sight, among the best!! Good taste, texture. Soft and fluffy. Definitely noteworthy. Visited with the boyfriend, June 2026 Ordered eggs, toast, hash browns and a side of onion rings and the BF had a hamburger with potato salad. When my breakfast arrived, the hashbrowns were almost cold and whilst the toast was nice and brown, as I had requested, I wasn't happy with the hashbrowns. My boyfriend said his burger was good. The potato salad was good, but the potatoes were a little hard. Our waitress, after dropping the food off, did not come back to us to check if everything was ok, not once. I was going to make a complaint about my cold hash browns, but there was no one to talk to about it so I gave up. There was also a greasy flavor to the eggs and the hashbrowns, which can happen if the oil is not changed enough. All in all it was a disappointment, I have driven by this place so many times on the way to my library in Rancho Mirage and I had wanted to try it for years. But if you're serving lukewarm hashbrowns with your breakfast, and if your waitress does not come back and check on you one time to ask you how is everything going, that is not good. She literally didn't even come back to top up my coffee. The coffee was not great either. Another server did to up my coffee once and then when someone came to give us the check, they left the wrong one. It was for a different table. All in all the service was not good. Conclusion, if you look at some of the reviews here, many people have said that no one checked on them once their order was delivered to their table so obviously no one's reading these reviews because this is still happening. I mean seriously this is basic service 101. You drop off the food you give them a little bit of time and then you go back to make sure everything's OK. Loved the food & views. Had an omelette cooked to perfection with fresh herbs, sausage, mushrooms, & potatoes. I can't remember the name of it, but I already know I'll be ordering it again. OH my gosh! I almost forgot about the amazing Blueberry Pancakes! A must! We sat on the patio with gorgeous views and perfect weather. You really can't beat that. If you're ever in Rancho Mirage, this place is a hidden gem & definitely worth checking out. It's located in a small plaza with plenty of parking & beautiful mountain views. We've visited the Palms Cafe several times. This time we had Saturday brunch. The food here is good and plentiful. I enjoyed the burger and delicious onion rings. My husband liked the crab cake Benedict with home fries - but said they could have been warmer. The restaurant was very busy and noisy but the service was still great. This sleepy little restaurant is a generic diner and I won't be back. It's situated in a strange little strip mall in between destinations, not a destination in itself. When we visited there was one other patron in the far corner, and the employees were scarce, seemingly hiding in the kitchen. The menu features generic diner fare. I got a breakfast burrito that I could best describe as "boring." The servers were only seen on their way to and from the kitchen, dropping things off as needed and then disappearing, making the empty restaurant feel downright abandoned. Serviceable enough for a basic diner, but there are far better places to spend your time and money. read more

Not much new to report. We stopped in again for a late breakfast and still felt that the food was only okay (more seasoning needed) and the service was a little inefficient. I will say that the place was packed and most patrons we spoke with while waiting, love it. FOOD: We tried a simple 2 Eggs & Bacon and pancake breakfast ($15.45), as well as the Chili Cheese Omelet with biscuit & gravy ($18). My omelet was tasty, but the hash browns lacked a little salt, and the biscuits and gravy also needed something...both the sausage gravy and biscuit were "pasty" and a little bland. The eggs were supposed to be over easy, and they were well beyond (see picture). The 50's diner décor is cool and there's a nice outdoor patio, when it's not too hot out. Overall, we still thought the food was average, but it's always packed, so go figure. NOTE: The restrooms are located outside the restaurant, within an adjoining antiques mall. It's a little bit of a tricky trek to get there, especially for older customers. read more

We came here on a lazy holiday Monday, mid-morning. While we were in a lazy mood, the staff was a hustling bunch. This restaurant is unpretentious - simple and straight-forward. They are a breakfast and lunch-time operation which makes their patio perfect for their opening hours. As we ate our brunch, I could tell this was a locals' favorite. Even though the staff was quick and efficient, they had plenty of time to be personable and friendly. We shared the Vegetable Quesadilla, see my pic. What you are seeing is mostly the tortilla: is was good and held up to the steam from the veggies. The side of salsa was very mild, a bit of lingering heat and had a moderate amount of flavor. The scoop of guac was mashed a fair amount, was reasonably fresh and was mildly flavored. What you aren't seeing are the veggies and cheese inside which the Palms has the right ratio. The cheese had a higher fat content so is smooth and creamy, while the veggies still had a bit crunch. It was a fairly decent snack for mid-morning. read more

Once my waiter left my conjealed, lukewarm, hard yoked, Eggs Benedict I never heard from him again. He was there but not once stopped to ask how everything was when I would have told him to heat up my meal!. I was very hungry so I did eat most of it but all the while kept thinking he'd come over. My wife and I visited The Palms Cafe in La Quinta, based on positive reviews but were disappointed with our experience. We were seated promptly, and our server was initially attentive. I ordered the two-egg breakfast with sausage, specifically asking if the sausage was homemade, and was told it was. My wife ordered the two-egg breakfast with a pancake. Food came in five minutes, but the toast lagged behind. The sausage was uniform round and greasy, clearly store-bought, not homemade as claimed. My wife's pancake was burnt outside, raw inside--cooked on too hot a grill. We asked for a new pancake; same problem. Our server never checked on us, so we had to flag someone else down. After our table was cleared we waited for the check, which never arrived. We decided to walk to the counter to pay. At checkout, a 4% card fee sign prompted us to pay cash. The staff couldn't handle cash properly, making us wait for our server to handle. Worse, yet they shorted our change without a word, which is unacceptable. I operate a small business in the valley and would never mislead or shortchange customers. The Palms Cafe needs to fix their food quality, service, and honesty. I won't recommend this place and advise others to skip it. read more

This place is a local favorite! Good food, large portions and great service. Because it is such a local favorite - literally, people waiting to get in all the time - the ambiance is energetic and it can be quite loud, or at least it was on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Food: We were a party of three, two ordered the BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad, and one ordered the Cobb - portions were large and filling. Service: Elizabeth, our server, Anna our hostess, and Miguel the bus staff, ensured we were satisfied and were very welcoming despite being very busy due to the popularity of the cafe. My kid's and I were staying at Aqua Caliente for few days, we wanted to eat breakfast out of the resort and we were browsing online and we ended up being here.
