I watched multiple customers receive the wrong order and when I shared my concerns with Don (the manager), he was not responsive to the feedback and just gave me a refund and took back the incomplete order that I had waited 30 minutes for. I went today durning lunch to try something new in the area. I was recommended to Slim chicken. I saw a advertisement for a macaroni chicken bowl and it looked great. So I decided to order the one with Buffalo chicken. I also just wanted to try the chicken in general so I got three different wings with three different flavors. For this place to be considered fast food there was a bit of a wait inside considering that there was only three customers but I didn't mind since I'd rather get fresh chicken rather than something that's just been sitting on the counter all day. I received my meal and it look absolutely nothing like the picture. Still a bit appetizing but not as nearly as good as the photos that were on display. The display looked like oven made Mac and cheese and what they served was definitely not oven made Mac and cheese considering the shedded cheese on top was not melted or would not melt at all. I tried to eat the pasta however it was a hug let down. The Mac and cheese had no flavor and the onion rings that was thrown on top were dreadful. Also,I didn't enjoy the wings that I ordered on the side to try. The fries were pretty amazing. I would definitely come back for the fries however I was overall very disappointed in how my food turned out. Placed order at 950 and paid and was told to pull up and they would bring my order to me. Only had 2 chicken sandwiches so figured they were making them fresh and I was in for a great fresh meal. 915 and finally they brought order to me. In that time I waited one lone car went though drive Thur and pulled up to wait also and actually got their food before me. Headed home a bit upset over wait but I should have fresh chicken right. It was awesome when they first opened, but the last four times, the chicken has been over cooked and rubbery, possibly from sitting under the warmer. The food comes out super-fast...however fresh chicken wings take 14 minutes to cook.... and the service is give or take. It all depends on the teenager running the window. So we decided to try this out. It's okay we still prefer Chick Fil A, the sauces are interesting. But the biggest downfall is it is short staffed so the seating area is not clean and does not help when you see customers leaving their trash on the tables. Having been to basically every other chicken tender place around(Canes, zaxby's), I was comparing it to all of them. I got the 5 tender 5 wing box with Slim sauce and fries with toast. Chicken: tenders were on the small side. Not as small as zaxby's most of the time but much smaller than Cane's. I thought they were bland, like a lot of the reviews said. Not terrible but nothing like Cane's. Slim sauce: this was the worst thing about the whole meal for me. I was expecting something like the Cane's sauce or Zax sauce, but it was much sweeter and had a horrible taste. Almost like it had too much ketchup or whatever they mix it with similar to how Cane's and Zaxby's make theirs taste. Some people may like it slightly sweeter, I lean more toward the vinegar/tart side closer to Cane's. like I said, just my preference but I found it to just give the chicken a funny taste. Fries: soggy, seasoned like everywhere else basically but undercooked. Wings: again, undercooked and too fatty and chewy. Another reviewer said they taste like Tyson frozen wings, pretty much spot on. Toast: tiny pieces of bread with no seasoning. Looked and tasted exactly the same as the toast from a sonic breakfast sandwich but smaller in size. I hate giving places 1 star but this was terrible. Slim Chickens was good. I had the chicken sandwich that was also juicy and fresh out of the fryer. The breading was season nice and the Cayenne Red dressing compliment the chicken well. They didn't have any tomatoes so the cook was nice enough to throw me some of those diced tomatoes for the salad up on a sandwich. Fried onions and pickles. Whatever kind of cheese they use for the mac and cheese was on point. I know it had to be some cheddar plus some asiago or some smoked Swiss but it was fire. It probably needed some spice to enhance at Heat. I probably would have threw some cayenne pepper in there or some dice jalapenos. Devoured it quickly. Didn't be all the macaroni and cheese cuz gotta watch those carbs. Got a definitely go back for some tenders and to hit up all those many different sauces that they have to dip your chicken tenders in. The staff was nice and that's about all I can say about this place. I have eaten at the Hurst and North Richland Hills location and was completely confused when I got to Mansfield and saw the menu. They don't serve Okra, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, chicken wraps and fried pies are not offered here. I asked the staff why and they said it takes to long to make here and they want be offering those items at this location. Seriously? Well chicken express a block down offers some of those and I have never had to wait and if I did I certainly wouldn't complain considering now you don't give me the option. So Slim Chickens Mansfield has lost my business and if anyone cares the fried pickles are terrific go to another location and give the other items a try. Okay so here goes my review, went around 9pm on a Thursday night. Only one car ahead of me in the drive thru line. I read all previous reviews and must admit I was very skeptical but wanted to see for myself. I ordered the kid meal which consisted of two tenders, fries, toast, one dipping sauce and a drink, all for under 5 dollars. Asked the clerk at the window for cayenne ranch and sweet chili sauce. She was very friendly and said no problem. Started tasting my fries as I drive out the line and they were fresh and tasty. On to the toast, it was garlicky but not bad, slightly dark brown as I prefer my toast light brown. The chicken was hot, fresh and since I dipped my tenders in each sauce I felt like I received lots of flavor. Big meal for a small price and it filled me up. Was it the Chick-fil-A up the street, no and it wasn't suppose to be. Each restaurant has its own flavor and I wasn't disappointed. I will return to try the chicken and waffle and honestly if it wasn't for the first three reviews I wouldn't have given it a try. On Wednesdays you can get their chicken & waffles and a medium drink for $5.99. What a deal! The chicken was hot, tasty and juicy. I appreciate that it's not overly seasoned or breaded. The waffle was fluffy and delicious. That it's shaped like the state of Texas makes it fun. The place is clean and hospitable. The help was courteous and friendly. We finally made our way over here to eat. While there are a lot of chicken tender places to eat in this fast food category, we were surprised by this one. I'll have to admit that I think $8 for lunch is a little on the high side, (if I wasn't retired and had to budget $40 a week just for lunch) but, it's not too bad considering that my wife, my daughter and I all ate for $18 with a drink. My wife usually splits something with me or my daughter for lunch. We just don't eat a big lunch. I will say that we are big fans of Canes but, Slim Chickens should give them a run for their money. My wife said the tenders were better than canes and my daughter liked it too. I'm a big fan of the different sauces they have. We love canes sauce but, Slims sauce is good too. The Korean BBQ sauce was great. 5 tenders with fries and a drink was $8.99. That drink includes refills on tea and even lemonade which canes wants you to pay for refills on lemonade. You only get one side but, it's as big as canes 2 sides. Fried pickles and the such are available at an up charge. I had the 3 piece for $6.99. You only get one side and one sauce with the 3 piece but, the 5 piece gives you 2 sauces. Overall I think Slim Chickens is going to be just as good if not better than Canes in my opinion. Here's why: Slims - free refills on lemonade Canes - no refills on lemonade Slims - discount for seniors of 10% Slims- 20% off on Wednesday for teachers and students Canes - no discounts that I've seen Slims - Lots of sauce choices including gravy Canes - no choice, it is a good sauce though. I usually like slim chickens, but this time it was bland and nothing special. I definitely prefer raising canes or zaxbys. It annoys me that I spent almost $10 and replaced my fries with cold slaw and they forgot to give me the bread. I like to eat the chicken with bread and cole slaw. Canes gives you both fries and cole slaw and has never forgotten my bread. I won't be back for chicken but I definitely will return for their dessert! read more
