I'm from California and we know our way around some fine Mexican cuisine but Mama Cuca's was SO good. I spent two of my 4 nights in Midlothian at this restaurant. The grilled and stuffed poblano pepper is an absolute MUST HAVE. I'd never had it before but at the recommendation of our server, I gave it a try. I would have kicked myself if I had passed, it was outstandingly well prepared and flavorful :) But this review isn't actually about the food ... @Jessica and @Paty @Guillermo I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Andrew on my first night at Mama Cuca's and America in the bar on my second night. I've worked in Michelin restaurants in Napa Valley and these two professionals are genuinely absolute ACES in the craft of customer service. I don't write reviews to complain so when i take the time to write these it is because the service or quality was so outstanding that I NEED other people to know so they don't miss out on such an incredible experience. Both America & Andrew had us laughing and enjoying every minute chatting with them. The incredible food, combined with incredible staff ... needless to say I passed along my experiences to the folks I was in town to help with a tech deployment and will be coming back myself in a few months when I'm in town again. THANK YOU SINCERELY, America and Andrew, for providing one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I can recall. I would come back for the food but i will be back multiple nights for this incredible experience. You two ROCK!!!! I have never been to a Mexican restaurant where we weren't even offered a refill on chips. My father had to repeatedly ask for water. Our waiter barely checked on us at all and essentially only returned when it was time to bring the check. Meanwhile, we watched the manager make a point to visit and speak with seemingly every other table while completely passing over ours. I cannot speak to anyone's intentions, but I can absolutely speak to how we were treated, and as Black customers, the difference in attention made us feel singled out and unwelcome. After YEARS of supporting this restaurant, that is incredibly disappointing. If this is the level of hospitality the new management considers acceptable, they are going to run a once-great restaurant into the ground. You cannot expect loyal customers to continue supporting a business where they no longer feel valued or even acknowledged.

The Salad /condiment bar was missing some popular items such as the pickled purple onions , which i truly looked forward to adding to my meal , but they were unfortunately all out . They also offered complementary chips , which my daughter wasted no time in getting some . My meal came with some rice , beans and tortillas. I'm not really big on rice , having braces has made it difficult and uncomfortable to eat rice only this rice was really delicious, nicely cooked and well seasoned. Best way to describe the taste is it tasted liked some perfectly made Rice-A-Roni. And if you know about some perfectly made Rice-A-Roni , then you know exactly what I'm talking about. It was Probably some of the best rice I've ever had . I don't really eat beans and depending on the kind and how they are cooked I can't even come close to them because of allergies. These beans smelled amazing, that I was even tempted to try them , but I instead took no chance and just gave them to my puppies and they seemed to really like them . I got home and prepared my meal to how I seen it done on TikTok and oh boy, I am HOOKED . The tortillas aren't needed for me for I'm not too big on bread and rather get straight to the point lol, I grabbed the onion piece and wrapped it around the perfectly grilled chicken, dipped it in one of the many different sauces and ate it each time taking a bite of the grilled jalapeños , it was HEAVEN !!! Im hooked .. perfectly seasoned and grilled ! I highly recommend.
