The chicken was good but the wait was almost 30 mins!! Nice dining room, with kiosks at the counter for self service . The staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, so many orders and door dash drivers picking up orders. These orders seemed to make the in person customers wait even longer than it should have been. That is the impression I got.

Great hot food and tasty sauces! Quick service and great seasoning! Chicken was straight white breast meat and the fries were hot and made to order.

And yet another fast/casual, fried chicken chain in the Triad! This one was started in 2003 in Fayetteville AR by 2 childhood friends. The number of restaurants currently stand at nearly 300. The menu centers on chicken tenders and wings, with several sandwiches available as well. There are a few sides and a double handful of house made sauces offered also. I know this will appear heretically but I'm not a fan of chicken tenders, especially those offered by the majority of fast casual chains. I do like the Nashville Hot tenders at Chili's, and the Chicken Tender Sandwich at Smithfield Chicken. But generally, I prefer bone in chicken or a fried chicken sandwich with a well sized breast or thigh. They do offer a Crispy Chicken Sandwich here for $5.59 - 60 cents higher than KFC and Popeye's, whose filets are a bit larger, Slims is 8 ounces. The menu description for the Crispy Chicken Sandwich - "A 100% all natural chicken breast dipped in buttermilk marinade lightly breaded, perfectly fried and topped with crisp pickles and ranch mayo on a toasted bun. This is no namby pamby chicken sammy!" Well, OK then. The sandwich was ok but was not a game changer. While the filet had a nice crunch and decent flavor, and the pickles were indeed crisp, the sandwich as served was under sauced, muted by the brioche bun as well. The combo was right at $11.50. This sandwich is about average among the chain sandwiches, well below KFC, Popeye's, Culver's, and even Cook Out. I would not try this spot again!

Stopped for a quick lunch yesterday and it was delicious! I LOVE when places have kiosk ordering. I ordered a kids meal-grilled chicken tenders, fries, Texas toast and a drink for $6! The food arrived fast and was super fresh. Restaurant was clean too. I'll definitely return!

(3.5 stars) Given the drive-thru lines, one might expect Slim Chickens to be something other than Slightly Fancier Zaxby's. However, that's what this chain is in a nutshell. In addition to the expected tenders, wings, sandwiches, and salads, Slim Chickens offers tender mac & cheese bowls, chicken & waffles, and various fried vegetables as sides. I opted for a fried chicken salad, ordered through the drive thru. Thankfully, the previously reported lengthy delays seem to be a thing of the past. Service was smooth and efficient. The salad was generously sized and included a variety of veggies (carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, and lettuce) as well as fried onions. At $10.50 with a drink and two dressings (I went with ranch and honey mustard) included, it proved to be a good value. The chicken was moist and nicely breaded, but it lacked depth of flavor. Though filling and perfectly palatable, I'd be lying if I said the salad was anything special. If there weren't so many other chicken options in town, Slim Chickens would perhaps make more of an impression. It's definitely not bad, but it also doesn't really rise above the fray.

Great food as usual. Fresh and hot. I got the fried pickles for the first time. Pretty good. Hot and fresh and they give you an ample serving as well. The restaurant was clean as always.

Slim Chickens is a new to the area chicken chain, that has Louisiana roots. For their first Triad location, they picked High Point, and based on my visit, y'all would think people have never seen fried chicken before. It was so busy, that I was tempted to turn around and walk out, but I decided to push on... because usually when places are busy, the food comes out hot, and that's what ya want right? There was a run down church in this spot, and I'm sure they got a nice check to pack up and move elsewhere, as this is now a prime shopping area in north HP. That said, whoever chose the layout for the drive-thru and parking should not be trusted to do so again. It's pretty awful. No matter where you are going or your intention, you're going to be in a tight squeeze and competing with someone else's car. I decided to go with chicken tenders for my first meal there. Slim's meal comes with 5 tenders, texas toast, a side and 2 sauces, which sounds like a lot, but these are more like the chicken strips from CFA than a nice big chicken tenderloin. I found it to be just about right when the order came out. Normally the meal comes with fries, I paid a couple extra dollar upcharge for pickle chips. There are several other sides to choose from for an upcharge over the fries. I got mango habanero and korean BBQ for my chicken sauces, and ranch with the pickles. I had a 20 minutes wait for my chicken, which they were nice and upfront about. Service in general was polite and cordial, ambience was very tight, but there is a patio for a nice day which I chose. When it arrived, everything looked quite tasty, very visually appealing. In execution, I thought the chicken was pretty mid. The breading had a nice flavor, and I love the variety of sauces (Korean BBQ was the best one I chose, mango habanero was OK) but these chicken tenders were kind of thin, which made them taste dry. Not chalky dry, edible dry. Thankfully the sauce made that better. The pickle chips were also not all that great, they weren't crispy, though I would say they looked to not be a frozen variety, definitely dipped and fried to order which is great. Texas toast was buttery, the ranch was really good. All in all, with so much chicken competition in North Carolina in general, I thought this was just fine. I might come back again later when the popularity has died down some and try a sandwich, but for now, I'm OK not rushing back.

Tucked into the growing landscape of High Point's casual dining scene, Slim Chickens offers a fast-casual Southern-style experience that delivers solid value, approachable variety, and a few menu surprises--though not without its limitations. The Meal: I sampled the 4-piece chicken tender plate, opting for a side salad--a choice that turned out to be one of the unexpected highlights. Crisp greens, fresh toppings, and a balanced home made ranch dressing made it a refreshing counterpoint to the fried fare. My son mirrored the order but chose fries, which were golden, seasoned well, and satisfying in that familiar comfort-food way. Two members of our group tried the Mac & Cheese Bowls--a creamy, indulgent blend topped with chopped tenders. The feedback was unanimous: very good, and more importantly, worth a repeat. Another diner had the standard 4-piece plate with mac & cheese as a side, rounding out the comfort-forward selections. A vanilla milkshake was also on the table--classic, rich, and notably well-executed, proving Slim Chickens can hold its own when it comes to dessert indulgences. Flavor & Execution: The chicken tenders, Slim Chickens' cornerstone, were solid but unremarkable. They had a crisp exterior and moist interior but lacked a defining seasoning or texture that might elevate them beyond the competition. Think reliable, not revelatory. Their signature sauces, sold at $0.40 each, added character and variety--flavorful, if slightly overpriced, considering other chains include them freely. Still, they did lift the chicken in much-needed ways. They did tell me the next time that I visit they could toss the tenders in what ever flavor I'd like and that's included in the price of the meal. Overall Experience: Pricing felt fair for the portions and variety, and the service was quick--a crucial quality for fast-casual spots aiming to balance efficiency with flavor. While I've certainly had better chicken elsewhere, Slim Chickens delivers a dependable meal that's especially strong on sides and specialty items like the Mac & Cheese Bowl and milkshakes. Final Verdict: A respectable showing with a few standouts. The chicken won't blow you away, but if you're in the area and want a quick, satisfying Southern-inspired meal with decent variety and comfort food flair, Slim Chickens is worth a return visit--just maybe not a special trip.

This is a new chicken spot in High Point. They opened 3/24/25, and from the first day the drive-thru line has been WRAPPED around the building. Last night I placed an order online at 7:45; ready for to pickup at 8:15. I made my way there and even at that time, there were only 2 parking spaces available but the drive-through was not long. Inside is not large but no one was waiting in a table. There was a line-up at the drink machine though (odd). I noticed they do have 2 ordering windows so that will be helpful when the newness wears off. The food was good, a tad salty, but I will order something different next time.

First time at Slim Chickens recently. Reminded me a lot of Canes. Hand breaded tenders, not pre breaded and frozen. Juicy and tender. Great fries and good sauces. Hits the mark if you're tired of Chick Fil A and do not want Bojangles or Popeyes. Definitely a grade above those two mega chicken chains. I'll be back to try the sandwich and the wings.

This restaurant is new to me and new to the area. Let me say this: this place was banging. Everything was tasty, as you would expect at a restaurant specializing in fried chicken and potatoes. The inside of the establishment was new, funky, and "hip" with writing on the walls and sleek white tiles everywhere, with lots of windows. I did not venture to the bathroom while I was there, but as clean as the rest of the restaurant was, I would have to assume that it would carry over. When I went on a Saturday around 2 pm, they were still quite busy. But I was able to place my order quickly. I got a smaller meal of 3 tenders, fries, and a drink. They had many combinations of tenders, and even had some wings, which I will have to try in the future. The breading of the chicken was crunchy and flavorful, and cooked to perfection, the oil that the chicken was fried in, seemed fresh as well. Now, the best part: if you're a sauce girl or guy, you've got to swing by this joint. As you can see from my pics, these are homemade, thick (with three C's), and delicious. I got the house sauce, which was a combo of mayo and ketchup, but elevated, it was way more than "special sauce" that your mom made for you so you would eat dinosaur chicken nuggies. The other sauce I had was a garlic parmesan, and it was simply fantastic. Imagine the garlic butter sauce from Papa John's, but it's much thicker, with more garlic and parmesan. I personally loved that sauce so much, I plan to buy extra on my next time through there. This place was a really, really great place to grab a quick and reasonably price meal. I hope these guys put Zaxby's outta business!

Entrées followed in a reasonable time, no real issue there. Sammy G's has been in High Point for years and offers a wide menu with a little bit of everything. They also bring out little yeast rolls that are pretty good and they were warm when served. We started with the thin cut onion rings. My husband said "less than spectacular," and that sums it up. Some were sliced so thin you mostly tasted breading, and they were a bit greasy. I would skip these. He ordered the fish sandwich with Brussels sprouts (premium side with a small upcharge). The sandwich was okay, nothing special. The Brussels sprouts were good, nicely cooked with solid flavor. I had the Fratellis salad with greens, cranberries, feta, mozzarella, Granny Smith apples, and candied pecans, and added sirloin for an upcharge. They forgot the steak at first, but brought it out shortly after in a separate bowl. Not a big deal. The sirloin was cooked medium as requested, a little red inside and tender enough to cut easily. It had good flavor. I chose the apple cider vinaigrette, which worked well with the salad. I also ordered the chef's selection soup, which was supposed to be lobster bisque. If there was any lobster, it was microscopic. The flavor was slightly bitter and just not good. I asked for it to be taken off the bill. Service handled everything well, including the mistake with the steak and the soup. Atmosphere is casual tavern style, relaxed and easy for a weekday lunch. Must order: Fratellis salad with sirloin and apple cider vinaigrette (yummy), Brussels sprouts Heads up: Skip the thin cut onion rings and don't expect much from the bisque. Other soups, I've had here in the past have been great though.

We've, been many times in the past, but haven't placed a to go order since the days of Covid I called in the our order as I was finishing up a few errands, the hostess who took the order was very friendly and said it would be ready in 20-25 minutes. I figured I'd have a chance to grab a beer while I waited for the food to be ready, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was already done. After some debate, I decided to try something different on this visit, and got the Hawaiian Chicken Grill sandwich with a side of a Mac & cheese. Getting home, I opened the to go container to find a massive slab of chicken, sticking out both sides of the bun, not surprising based on my past varieties of chicken sandwiches from Rixster Grill! The sandwich was delicious, marinated in teriyaki and super juicy, topped with cheese and a grilled pineapple ring. It really hit the spot, and definitely filled me up. The deep fried crab balls were delicious, and the fries were cooked perfectly. For the wings, we tried multiple flavors including Atomic Buffalo, Sweet Chili, Lemon Pepper, Teriyaki, and Jerk. The cook on the wings was excellent -- crispy without being dry. Some flavors stood out more than others depending on personal preference, but the Sweet Chili and Teriyaki were favorites for our table. The bartender welcomed us and assured us they were, and invited us to seat ourselves. We grabbed seats at a high top, and she brought over the menus and took our drink orders. First thing I noticed was the table tops were not flat, they were wavy and made it very easy to spill your drink, so beware, and be careful where you put your drink down. The menu was pretty standard bar food, burgers, sandwiches, wings and other fried items. I decided to try their build your own burger, an 8oz patty with choice of cheese and toppings. Only side options were fries or hot chips. Food was quick to come out, but again, we were the only people there. The burger was OK, although just a frozen patty, they grilled up, the fries were good, but the portion felt a little small. Overall it was okay, perhaps they're still trying to get thing figured out. The bartender was friendly though. I didn't see a bar menu, but from what I could see they had a fully stocked bar. As we left, we poked our head around to the other side of the building to find a golf simulator, some billiards tables and a few arcade games. Lots of tvs every where though, probably a good place to catch a game.

It closed in early February for what were supposed to be renovations, only to reopen months later with a new name and a new concept, trading slightly upscale Southern for more upscale Italian. In some regards, this makes sense - it fills a void created by the closure of Lulu and Blu - but in other ways, it's a massive gamble. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, it also made us miss Magnolia. The higher price point is the chief culprit. Otto and Blue offers pastas in the $20s and entrees starting in the $30s, bread and olive oil not included. While we were celebrating an occasion that merited such a splurge, it's hard to imagine the restaurant remaining competitive at those prices once the sheen of newness wears off. Look past that, however, and Otto and Blue shines in both ambiance and service. It's classy without being stuffy, and the dark turquoise tones suit it well. Allison, a Magnolia Blue mainstay, was personable and attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Otto and Blue's menu offers apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. It's predominantly Italian albeit with a few options for the steak-and-potatoes crowd. The dishes range from recognizably classic (rigatoni Bolognese) to conspicuously elevated (halibut piccatta). After mulling over several offerings, we went with the bread service, tagliatelle, and duck cacciatore. The food ranged from fairly good to outstanding. While $9 for bread is a tough pill to swallow, they executed it as well as they possibly could have: a hot, fresh ciabatta with tasty herb butter, olive relish, and a quality olive oil-balsamic combo as accompaniments. The cacciatore boasted a pair of duck legs confit, and while I'm usually no fan of dark meat poultry, these were prepared well with crispy skin and plenty of meat. For a typically hearty dish, the sauce seemed light (and a bit subdued), but that could be a consequence of serving atop polenta (more absorbent) rather than pasta. Speaking of pastas and sauces, the tagliatelle hit a nice balance of creamy and zesty without swimming in its white wine lemon sauce. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal ended up being the dessert that Otto and Blue kindly offered as an anniversary gift. A scoop of vanilla bean gelato came adorned with a Biscoff cookie, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of salt. If salt and especially olive oil on ice cream seem vaguely blasphemous, don't knock it until you try it. Each bite was thoroughly delicious. It's a given that good food doesn't come cheap, but even so, Otto and Blue has no margin for error to justify what it charges. On food alone, it was close but not quite there. However, the overall experience made it worthwhile, and I have no regrets about dining here.
