Dare I say, it was like popping into a busy Chick Fil A. Felt like a well-oiled machine and you guys have been open for a lot longer. When I visited it was still pretty busy, but very manageable, especially because the menu at Cane's is as simple as it could possibly be. All you need to know: How many chicky tendies do you want? Do you want them on a bun? That's it. No complex menu of all kinds of varieties, just simple well-fried chicken, a couple of sauces for dipping (Cane's sauce and honey mustard), and you get fries, slaw, texas toast, and a beverage. Bing, Bang, Boom. The price is more than fair thanks to this simplicity, and the food comes out fast again... thanks to the fact that all they have to do is keep churning these very few menu items. I got "The Box" which is 4 tendies with the above accoutrements. I also got a honey mustard to go with the Cane's sauce and in my opinion, the honey mustard is the better chicken dip. The Cane's sauce is heavy on pepper, and really goes better with the fries. In either case, you can't go wrong. The chicken was hot, nicely battered, and perfectly fried. On it's own, there isn't much to the batter. They are relying on the sauce to do the lift and that is fine. I like their thinner style of crinkle fries, the Texas toast slice is buttery and thick, and the slaw is just OK. The restaurant layout is a little dumb, especially while they remain busy. There is an island of high top tables in the center of everything, and basically traffic flows in a ring around this and there is not much room for movement. A drink refill becomes an adventure in frustration thanks to this, or napkins, or a fork for your slaw. It would be helpful if napkins and fork were given with the meal, as you're gonna need both. Anyhow, I appreciate the simplicity of Cane's, and the chicken is very consistent for a solid price. I'll go back fairly often I am sure.

The chicken reminded me of Popeyes, and the cole slaw of KFC. The fries were extremely well seasoned (to the point of almost being too salty for me, but my wife thought they were fine). The reason for the two star review, though, is that while eating I noticed there was a sticker of some sort on the bottom of the cole slaw container. When I was done, I turned it over to find that it was a freshness label - and that they had served me a container that was an hour past its stated "Use By" date/time. It tasted fine, and hopefully there's some sort of margin of error built into those "Use By" calculations. But based on this experience I don't think I'll be visiting this (or any other) Bojangles again.

Based on my research, the cut of meat that is used is USDA Choice, not Prime, and is cooked by the "Sous Vide" method by "suppliers", whoever they are! The meat is shipped to the individual restaurants, where it is cut into bite size pieces, and finished there, either in an oven or an air fryer, depending on whats available. There is no info available how long a time can elapse from the initial cooking to the serving, same with their roast beef. This follows their approach for the signature roast beef, it is shipped cooked to the individual sites and reheated. I chose to try the sandwich, which has nuggets, Havarti cheese, crispy onions, pickles, and mayo. This is not a good sandwich - the meat was dry and chewy, and because the meat is cut into "bite size" pieces, the sandwich is awkward to eat, meats pieces keep falling out, making this more effort than I care for! And I simply don't get the Havarti cheese - cheez! I will not order the Steak Nuggets again - probably worked reasonably well in a well controlled test kitchen, but out in the fast food world dominated by underachievers, this is a recipe for culinary disaster. I would suggest that you go instead to Texas Roadhouse and get the kid's Steak Bites.
