My sister came to town for a quick work trip. Her dietary needs are kinda all over the place at the moment which made finding a lunch spot a stressful chore. We had a short window of time to grab lunch so I needed a place that was quick, delicious, with a twist of fun. Insert Yelpers. You did not disappoint! We arrived at Scratch around 1:45pm. We were waited on immediately but we were not ready. They patiently waited as we looked at the menu and decided then undecided then decided. There were so many possibilities that we were intentionally making each other get different dishes. Once we ordered, we sat at the table and enjoyed talking and watching soccer. The large windows made me feel like I was sitting on an indoor patio. The food arrived about 10-15 minutes after we ordered. Here's what we had: Cajun Seafood egg rolls - I could taste the seafood and the Cajun flavor but the texture was too pasty for me. Crispy Wings with fries scratch sauce - It was flavorful and definitely crispy. Tender and waffle sticks - My son loved the waffle sticks. Chicken n waffles - My sister said her chicken was juicy and crispy and her waffle was amazing. Overall the food and the customer service left us feeling like we made a good choice. This is definitely a great spot for all the chicken lovers out there.

This small but mighty restaurant packs a punch with its array of chicken dishes including one of my favs the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. They also serve chicken and waffles, macaroni and cheese bits and some great non traditional egg roles like a Philly cheesesteak version. Service is always courteous and quick. The dining area is smallish but I've never had to wait or stalk a table. Ample parking and one TV for some entertainment. Nice location right off battleground.

Can't beat fresh, hot fried chicken! I love and don't mind waiting for made to order. I love the variety of items offered on the menu. The double fried chicken is my go to.! The fried okra is hot and crispy. This time I ordered the mac n cheese...it was ok (in my opinion, needed a little salt). Customer service is good. The place is clean.

Was in the area on a Saturday morning, and I've had this place bookmarked to check out. There was already a nice size crowd inside dining in so it was looking promising that this place was worth my trip. I already knew from looking at the menu before coming in that I was getting chicken and waffles. I like the fact that they let you choose the type of chicken that you want with this option, whether you want tenders, wings, thighs, drumsticks etc. I went with the chicken wings, is my favorite piece of chicken to eat in general. We didn't have to wait that long for our food to come out, and it was piping hot! The chicken wings came out looking very fresh and very good. Broke them apart, and you can see the steam coming out of them, I got very excited! They tasted so good. I also really enjoy my chicken wings being extra crispy, these definitely were that. I didn't ask for them to be specifically made that way, that's the way that they came. I have to say that these might be the best chicken wings I've had in the area. The waffle was also good. Crispy edges and very soft in the middle, just the way that I like it. Also came out very hot and fresh. The service was also very good here, they made sure to check on us to make sure if we need anything, extra syrup, refill of our drinks. I was very impressed with Scratch. I will for sure. Be coming back here again!

This was a takeout order of Fried chicken to watch with election results! But they do have seating within the restaurant. It's very no frills and casual place to get lunch. It was my first time, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the double fried. I guess I was expecting it to be crunchier? It was still good, but it just ended up being slightly greasier. Will try the normal fried chicken next time. Coleslaw was quite good, as well as the Mac & Cheese. We also ordered Mashed potatoes. I was a bit surprised it didn't come automatically with gravy -- still yummy though. I didn't read the menu carefully, but all meals come with a small side of slaw, so probably would have ordered something different, as I ended up getting two slaws. Service was quick! By the time I placed the order, and drove to pick it up, it was ready. Definitely will be coming back!

Scratch has been, and continues to be, our go-to restaurant for some of the best fried chicken in Greensboro, and my review is long overdue for an update, though I do not have a lot new to say because I keep getting the same delicious thing over and over again! The chicken tenders here are monstrous in size, flavor, and ability to provide me with multiple meals! They always come out blazing hot (enough to melt a plastic fork right away, so be careful) with a delicious spice in the batter and an always crispy shell. But the real highlight is when you start combo dipping these beauties in their top notch Korean bbq sauce, and then into their honey mustard. Something about the flavor combo just hits like no other I have found around here. Go get it, you will not be disappointed, and you're gonna need extra sauce for your leftovers! The sides here are always phenomenal as well. We love their baked mac n cheese as a standard, no trip is complete without it. We usually rotate on an additional side though. Our most recent trip we went for the okra, and as you might figure for a place that makes excellent fried chicken, they also fry a mean okra. Perfectly crisp, the okra not chewy at all, goes great with everything. Another winner. Thanks for consistently providing 5 star food and service Scratch team!

As far as fried chicken places go, I was content with my experience at Scratch. The night I visited for dinner, I recognized they work on a skeleton crew (only one representative on the floor). It's a small venue, so they may not need it, but covering the phone lines and taking orders at the counter got a bit overwhelming at times. If you're looking for some serious heat, however, this is not your chicken spot. The hottest offering is the Nashville Hot (according to the wait staff), but it didn't make my nose run or tear up at all. While I agree the chicken was cooked well, was a bit let down that the breading slid off my larger pieces.

Sooo, I UNashamedly like bojangles and kfc - say what you want... it's tasty in a pinch!! And, this is like 100x's better! We were craving a "home-like" meal without the hassle. Ordered an 8 piece, with corn, slaw, green beans, and mashed potatoes. The chicken was so juicy and crunchy and perfectly flavored. I typically don't like green beans that aren't "country style" but these were superior to even those! This place is really, really good - superior, even, to my fried chicken & without the mess! Five stars!

My dad asked me what I wanted for my birthday lunch and I picked Scratch. I love southern comfort food and some good fried chicken sounded perfect. This quick service restaurant offers a variety of chicken options- on the bone fried either as original or double fried (extra crispy), chicken tenders, chicken n' waffles, chicken sandwiches, wings, and rotisserie chicken. The meals come with slaw and one side. But do allow you to swap to another side of your choosing if slaw isn't your thing. Items can also be ordered a la carts. The prices are very reasonable and the food comes out hot and pretty quick. I got the 3 PC chicken tenders. You can choose to add seasonings or sauces to the chicken as well. I was craving the classic taste, but did get some of the siracha honey and honey pecan sauces on the side for dipping. Their tenders are big and juicy. Great crispy exterior and moist chicken inside. Three was plenty to feel full, but my heart wanted 6 as it was so good. I additionally ordered the green beans and Mac and cheese as sides. Do wish the tenders had a meal deal like the other traditional friend chicken. They have a lot of southern side options. Their green beans are nice and garlicky. The Mac and cheese is the "slab"preparation I like. Big, long, and flat piece with the extra crispy cheese on top. It was super cheesy and delicious. My birthday tummy was very happy.

The food was just ok. Hate that my wings weren't tossed in. Do not get the collards, 0/10- taste like water. The egg rolls were just ok, can't really rate it but nothing special.

I got lemon pepper and garlic parm. I wish I could pick more flavors but it only allowed me to pick 2. I also got garlic parm fries that was $5. After placing tbe order, it said it would ready in 62 minutes... WOW! If I had known that, I wouldn't have placed the order, honestly. The event was ending and I was 15 minutes away from the location. I arrived around 8:45pm. It was a little confusing at first once I arrived. It is located inside a city kitchen. Inside, there is a kiosk where you must check in to let restaurant know you're there. They have all the various establishments listed. You can also order on the kiosk if you haven't already. There were about 3 parties already there waiting. There are limited seating inside. At 8:55pm, a lady said that some orders were coming in 8 minutes. My name wasn't on that list, unfortunately. She had previously brought out orders for other people. If ordering online, I feel like they need to make it so people can see how long the wait is for food PRIOR to ordering. Since I had already paid online, I had no choice but to wait and my taste buds were for the food I ordered. Plus, I was very hungry and getting hangry while waiting. At , 9:16pm, I asked for an update for my food. I was told they were working on it and it would be a couple more minutes. I FINALLY got my order at 9:23pm. I then had to drive 15 minutes home. I did eat a couple fries on the way home because I was so hungry. They were decent. They did have a crunch to them though. The wings were dissatisfying, honesty. For me, this was not worth the wait. My wings weren't crispy at all and were dark in hue. I did enjoy the lemon pepper wings more than the garlic Parmesan. The lemon pepper had more crisp but didn't have sufficient seasoning, for me. The garlic Parm flavor wasn't bold and didn't pop or stand out as it should. I love garlic and these two flavors (garlic Parm and lemon pepper) are my go to flavors for wings. I really had high hopes and expectations, especially from all the positive reviews and pictures that I saw but they just didn't meet that this time. I've had way better wings. They were hot but I'm unsure if they were fresh. The size of the wings were a plus! I was on the phone with a friend eating and discussing my experience/dissatisfaction and they suggested that it may have just been an off night because they were busy... My take on that is perfection and always getting it right is not possible. However, I would rather have waited 10-15 minutes longer to get food that was up to their standards and not rushed, than to have waited a long time for a subpar product. For me, what makes it worse is that I've been craving wings! I'm being mindful on my calorie and food intake, so me using a "cheat day" to get what I want and be dissatisfied, is so saddening. I don't know if I'll be giving them another shot. First impressions are everything.

On this weekday during happy hour, we had a bad experience unfortunately. Our server was amazing though! Giving her props for her friendly demeanor and great service. Drinks were also cold and refreshing. Where it turned sour: our Chef's Special appetizer plate. The mozzarella sticks were hollow. Not just thin, but completely hollow with no cheese, just an outer shell. The "beef" empanadas had no beef inside. Again, mainly hollow with only a little cheese inside. Overcooked and almost impossible to chew. They were also out of some pickled items that were supposed to be on the plate, and they substituted some old strawberries, which definitely did not complement anything on this plate. We were here for a full meal, but we stopped here and did not order our main courses. ***MOST IMPORTANTLY*** Some employees were engaging in activities inside the establishment, which are not conducive to a restaurant in any capacity. A call will be made to management and/or the owner(s). We're highly hopeful this is a one-off experience and these issues will be rectified going forward. We love this place.
