I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, a side of beans, and a drink. The sandwich was okay--nothing bad, but nothing that really stood out. The beans were actually pretty good and may have been the highlight of the meal. The only thing that surprised me was the price. The meal came to about $14, which felt a little expensive for a fast-food lunch. Triad we have another fried chicken place in town but its Guatemalan flavors! There is a choice of the fried chicken,grilled chicken or chicken sandwiches and different sides. They serve agua frescas and soft drinks. I ordered the 12 piece combo. They let me try both half fried and half grilled chicken. I chose 1 order of sweet plantains and 2 orders of yuca fries for my 3 sides. Also I was given some dinner bread rolls. The fried chicken has a distinct taste;it was savory and citrusy. There was a crunch to it but not as crispy as the other fried chicken chains and is less greasy. The fried chicken is seasoned with cumin, lime, paprika and cayenne peppers. The grilled chicken tasted super zesty ( heavy flavors of lime/oregano). The plantains is super sweet but soooo yummy!! I enjoyed the yuca fries as well( tasted like sweet fried thick cut potatoes). They carry the Cholula brand hot sauce and not texas pete like most places do. There is a good amount of seatings outdoor with umbrellas and indoor seating. They do catering too. I went on a Friday afternoon and it was not busy. There were many tables filled with family eating lunch. It was quiet. Staff is quick to greet and service. I prefer the grilled chicken over the fried chicken. The fried chicken is good but wasnt too fond of the seasonings and it was a bit dry. I love the side orders,there so delicous. With Popeye's, KFC, and Zaxby's all nearby, Pollo Campero entered a rather crowded stretch of West Market. Despite this, it's managed to attract a following if the steady stream of drive-thru traffic is anything to go by. Part of the appeal is the menu: it's not like you can get plantains or yucca fries at any of the other chicken chains nearby. The staff here are also friendly and courteous. Of course, the biggest draw is probably the chicken. They advertise meals/combos, but I was really seeking a snack-sized portion. Fortunately, they were able to hook me up with a six-piece of nuggets. While definitely not the cheapest chain chicken offerings, they were definitely among the best. The nuggets were crispy, and the signature campero sauce - tangy and just a bit spicy - made for a perfect accompaniment. I don't know if the rest of the menu is similarly delicious, but I hope to eventually find out. read more

This place makes some very good fried chicken with a distinct Central American taste! They also offer their chicken grilled with a citrus flavor, and a very nice chicken sandwich. It was started in Guatemala in 1971, and now has 400 locations, over 100 in the US. Spots can be found throughout Central America and Mexico as well! This is a fast casual restaurant, but the do offer a digital table service where you can use a QR code to access the menu, place your order, and pay. Your order will be brought to your table. A drive thru is also available but lines can be a bit long, though you can preorder using their app. The fried chicken is marinated for at least several hours, and at some spots overnight. The marinate consists of lime juice seasoned with garlic, cumin, oregano, and perhaps more. Once marinated, the chicken pieces are hand breaded in flour seasoned with paprika, cumin, cayenne, and perhaps a bit more. It is then fried in vegetable oil until it is golden brown and there is a very nice, noticeable crunch and it is very tender inside! I have tried the fried chicken, the grilled chicken, the fried chicken sandwich, the empanadas, the plantains, the rice, the Mac & cheese, campero beans, and the corn salad. I really like the fried chicken, the grilled chicken not so much. The fried chicken sandwich was also excellent, as were the campero beans and the Mac & cheese. Everything else was just ok. There are a lot of chicken choices available in the area now, but this is one you should give a try! read more

I have been trying to get in this restaurant since Tuesday, March 11. That was their grand opening and it was slammed. This restaurant is nestled besides KFC and across from Zaxby's. Pro tip: Try to avoid the drive thru and go inside because it's faster. I went inside and it took about 5 mins to order and get my food. The cashiers were helpful and nice. Everything look nice and clean. They serve the food in real plates when you dine in. The chicken tenders are good with a hint of lime seasoning. The yuca fries are good but I need more!! The beans got heat to it and reminds me of chilli without the meat. The signature sauce "campero sauce" taste like the chick-fila sauce. The grill chicken was very well seasoned and juicy. This is a HOT spot!! We caught it at the right time; there was no line down W. Market Street!! The menu is simple, chicken or chicken. With the chaos of so many customers wanting to eat inside, outside, or just get it to go, not to mention the drive-thru, the staff are doing an AWESOME job of organizing the chaos. You get a number at the door to place on your table while you go order your food. Everyone is very helpful and nice. Both flavors of chicken (grilled or fried) are very juicy and flavorful. The yucca fries are crisp and the maduros (sweet plantains) are cooked perfectly! The only mishap was the Pepsi soda machine was out of several flavors. My Puerto Rican husband said this was some of the best roasted chicken he's had in the states. They are a bit pricey @ $37 for an 8pc w/2 sides. I opted for 2 3pcs at $10 and change. Upgraded 1 of the meals to a breast for an additional $1.50 which wasn't bad. The chicken was flavorful, seasoned well with a hint of something citrus, this I enjoyed. Sides I chose sweet plantains and yuca fries. The plantains were sweet and juicy. I didn't try the yuca fries. They offer drive thru and I definitely utilize it to place my order. First time eating here - I ordered a 4 piece with 2 sides and a roll which was reasonably priced - I ordered through the drive thru - only vehicle in line and by the time I get to the window to pay my order was being handled to me - I was in shock - I haven't received service this fast in years - it really felt good - my order was correct and the smell just reinforced I would be returning. Filled out a survey from the last time we were here. It said fill it out within 7 days for 2 free pieces of chicken. We did and got the verification code. When we went in to order again we were told our survey had expired. I showed them that the receipt only said to fill it out within 7 days (which we did) but that it did not have an expired date on it. We were told they thought they had changed it?? The service here was very professional and spot on. There are good and bad about the food in my honest opinion however to each their own. The good. Fried chicken was spot on. Just the right amount of church you look for when it comes to fried chicken. The mac and cheese is thick but in a good way. Empanadas were very creamy in the inside but just a touch greasy. Now the bad. The grilled chicken tasted like it marinated in Italian dressing then grilled but grilled enough to were it tasted burnt and the breast was really dry for me. The yucca fries...if your mouth was watery for the fried chicken the yucca fries will act like a bounty napkin and immediately dry your mouth out. Unless my fries were not freshly made it was an absolute 'NO' for me. The rice...reminded me of uncle Ben vegetable rice in the microwaveable bag. I wasn't so thrilled about the rice. Food is pretty good I order a mix three piece, discovered I only received all grilled never the less this was a better choice before going to the gym. Once again arrived for the promise made to customers for grilled.at 10am. They had none ready. This is the third time. If you start prep at 9:30-9:45am, why can't you have grilled chicken ready. You open at 10am, and ALL MENU choices should be available. Corporate said they would address this, but nothing so far. I had to settle for the fried version (and the seasoning on the grilled is far superior to the fried version.). Managers, district managers quit playing lip service to customers and have ALL your menu available when yuu order. For a quick service restaurant this was some of the most flavorful food I've had. I had the grilled two piece dark meat with rice and plantains. The sides were good but the chicken was stellar--citrusy, herby, and fall off the bone tender. The horchata I got to drink was very good too. I'm excited to try more of the menu. read more

Would love to try the food. My main concern is of all the businesses on Market St . This is the only location that blocked off entry from both directions. This makes it out of my way. Pleasantly surprised that the food was served on ceramic plates, and that we had the option of getting metal silverware (instead of flimsy plastic fork and knife). The chicken is really good! Better than Popeyes & KFC, in my opinion...I prefer the grilled chicken.

Chicken is really good. They are friendly and they don't mind helping you and cleaning the table.

I opted for the bowl I did not specify for grilled and got fried and it was flavorful and delicious!
