I keep seeing advertisements on social media for their latest promotion, of a single burger or chicken sandwich with a fries or tots for $8...and it worked. The offer was so tempting I went back for another visit, this time deciding to give their chicken sandwich a try. The staff was friendly on my visit. I placed my order at the counter, opting to get my meal to go, this time. I took a seat in the dining room to wait, and after only a short wait it was ready. Taking the food back to my office, the car smelled good. Once I got there, it was time to dig in. It tasted good, though in my opinion, not as good as some of the other competitors known specifically for chicken. It was seasoned and had some spices on it, it had good flavor, but just not anything overly wow. When I go back again, I'll stick with their specialty, a good old fashioned burger! All in all, it a good spot for an upper scale fast food spot. They offer limited indoor and outdoor seating. First time going here. I don't eat burgers often, but when I do, I want a good one with lots of flavor. There was a lack of customer service even after I shared it was my first time there. She offered no help or suggestions nor thanked us. The burger was fine, not great. The onion rings were fresh and tasty. This burger chain was found in Connecticut in 1991, and now has about 175 locations. This location open something over a year ago The quality of the food here is not at all bad, but it is pricey. The Classic, which has 2 patties that are between 2 & 2.5 ounces uncooked weight, is currently right a $9. That's very pricy for a 1/4 pound burger. For example, Culver's uses 2 patties that are 2.75 ounces uncooked, and the price is at least $2 less. Freddy's is a bit more expensive, but still cheaper. Heck, even the 1/4 pounder at McDonald's is well under $6, and remains a decent burger. As I said, not a bad burger, but not the best value for the quality for me. read more

Neither the best of burgers nor the worst, Wayback Burgers is a step-up from the fast food drive-thru albeit with higher prices to match. The franchise's name has retro connotations, and the compact menu - burgers, fries, and shakes with a few chicken and salad options - suits the concept well. This location's interior is small albeit clean, and it seemed adequately staffed. Speaking of staffing, the cashier who took my order was polite, and there was a minimal wait for my food. If nothing else, Wayback is efficient. I opted for a Classic burger (cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, mustard, and ketchup) with fries and a drink. The food was served hot, and the portions weren't lacking (the smash-style patties were thin, but there were two of them), but the flavor was unremarkable. They do, however, offer a strawberry hibiscus iced tea that was pretty good. Wayback isn't a place I would go out of my way to return to, but if I'm in the area and need filling food fast, I wouldn't balk at the idea. read more

The sandwich was fresh and juicy. My son got a red velvet shakes. He said it was good. It had an open clean kitchen and there wasn't a massive weight. We arrived here around 7-7:15pm. There were 3-4 tables taken, a couple of people waiting on their orders to go, one person in line placing an order. We placed our order using a Facebook special posted by the restaurant (B1G1 Classic). At 7:35 we were still waiting on our two burgers and 1 order of Cajun tots. Burgers arrive by name being called & the wrong burger was on the combo platter. No worries since Hubby & I were sharing the tots anyway. Problem was, the Cajun tots had no Cajun seasoning. I go back to the food service area until I'm noticed. I explained to the young lady the Cajun tots had no seasoning. She was surprised and said there should be some. I explained my husband tasted them and I looked at them and saw none. She offered some in a small cup and that was acceptable. Once receiving the seasoning, I could clearly see that was definitely NOT on the tots. The burgers were tasty, but not the best smash burgers in High Point. We may give them another try - just be sure you're not in a hurry since everything is cooked to order. read more

Never been to Wayback before but I went to this location and got their veggie burger and it was great! It's one of the better veggie patty options I've had recently! I got a build your own with the meal deal (side and a drink) and majority of the toppings were free! I ordered take out, there is not a lot of seating inside maybe like 25 people tops. There is ordering online available! Tons of vegetarian options too. I got their strawberry hibiscus tea and it was amazing. read more

The good notes- the restaurant is cute and clean, and the people are friendly! However... Our experience at Wayback Burgers was not great. They were extremely busy, so I'm sure that had something to do with the poor service, but the person who took our order was so flustered she wasn't listening. She overcharged us, and then when I went back to get it fixed, she wouldn't listen long enough to figure out what I was asking for- she assumed quickly that I was asking for a status update on our food and rushed to the kitchen to find out when our food would be ready. When she came back, I tried to explain that I wasn't asking about my food, I needed a refund because I had been overcharged. She kept telling me they'd take care of that, and then tried to take the next persons order. She finally got a manager to come see us and give us the refund. I completely understand that the restaurant was busy and she needed to take orders, but if she had just taken a moment to listen, we would've been out of her hair much faster! As far as the food goes, the burgers were edible but not delicious. The fries and tots were so greasy and bland we didn't eat them. Additionally, a combo runs about $15. If the food had been amazing, $15 might be understandable, but I think we would've been better off getting fast food. Overall, save your money. Not impressed and won't be back. I hate to say that, because the people were nice! But I have to be honest. Maybe with time, they'll improve. They are brand new. read more

So, I wanted to love this place. They're not terribly priced and the burgers are good sized. But my last two visits have been less than stellar. First visit, great, except they forgot my jalapenos(it was an order my husband brought home so I couldn't just walk up and ask for some). My last visit tho, the "Open" sign was not on, even tho it was 6pm on a Friday. The place looked closed other than the somewhat lit order counter. I built my burger, they didn't even melt the cheese. Brought it out with fresh tots, but my burger was clearly not. And yes I could've had them remake it, but honestly, I just shouldn't have to. The workers are super depressing and they all act like they're bored to tears, yet inconvenienced by customers also. Just a really weird vibe. And I had such high hopes for a quick burger place. At this point I'd almost consider whataburger just because there's more traffic and at least my food will be fresh. For$30 for two people to eat dinner, I just expected more and was left wanting. read more

Went to kiosk to place my order inside the store and after going through the entire menu and checking out, the kiosk says the store is closed and would not complete the order any. My son and I west to Wayback Burgers in High Point on Friday evening. When we arrived it was busy so I expected there would be a wait to be served what I didn't expect was that wait would an hour. There was at least eight employees that we could see working but they were acting like they didn't know what was going on. The manager was in the kitchen but spent most of his time screaming the other employees. While we were there at least one customer demanded his money back because he had been there so long. Also in the hour we waited there was three tables of people that came in at least a half hour or more after we did that ordered got their food ate a left before we got our food. While we waited we made several inquiries about our food each time we were told t was being fixed now and would be up any time. When we finally got our food it was good. Before we left I asked to speak to the manager. When he came out I shook his hand and told him that this was our first visit and that we were having to wait so long. With that he started telling me how busy they were that they were shots handed that the people handling the orders were making a lot of mistakes. The then told me that I should go on line and check out their ratings. I told him that I had but mine would not be good, he said he didn't care. He wanted to blame every working for him so I told him that I now knew what the problem was and it was him. With that he stomped off. It's a shame because food was good but the service was awful. The manager treated the kid working there like dirt and never once apologized for our experience. One a scale of 1 to 10 the food gets an 8.5 the service gets a 1.0. read more
