This is a great place for that classic diner food you're craving! We always get a good hamburger or hotdog here paired with fries and fishing with creamy soft serve ice cream. We really go here for classic chocolate vanilla swirl combo! I think the patties are a little thin on the hamburgers so I always get a double! They do have a drive thru option, however we haven't utilized that before! Prices are cheaper so great for taking the kids. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well. I hate to even give one star because that's being generous, which is something chard doesn't do. I have been consistently pissed off every time I go there in the past year, always missing something, or the food d have topping. The grilled cheese even was missing mayonnaise for my kids the order twice. it has 1 topping. how can you miss that. but our food is wrong too. so I've quit ordering food from there and we figured we'd still go for the ice cream. but now that's even gone wrong. I ordered soft serve in a cup, the cheapskates now use that awful cheap stuff that is water based and no taste of cream detected, I could taste the little use crystals. we said we would never be back. 6 months have passed, we wanted a banana split and said let's give it one more try. when they handed it to me, I could see it swimming in water, and water is all I tasted, i asked them for another and asked for a remake, same thing happened. I tried to eat it and couldn't because water does not belong in ice cream. the strawberry syrup is not syrup, it's cheap soggy strawberry in water, the chocolate was gross, i tasted like chocolate syrup mixed with water, and the list goes on. I have never thought I could taste ice cream and say ewe that's gross. but my husband did too when he tried it. this place is charging to much anyway but now they have switched to cheap ingredients that nobody would eat for free. they upchsrge ridiculous for topping on burgers as well. so this is a farewell letter . never again. congratulations chars you are what's wrong with America today. greedy. you won't be herr much longer and you don't deserve to be. read more

I was looking for a quick bite on the way home, and stopped in at Chars because I have not been there in quite a while. I like to try new things, so I picked up a super dog. First impressions, it's pretty big. I asked the girl what was in it and she said it was an all beef hotdog with everything on it. That pretty much sums it up. I picked up four napkins on my way out and then went to the truck to take a picture. My Second mistake was trying to eat the last half while I was driving. If You didn't catch that, my first mistake was only picking up four napkins. Now I'll be fair and say these are the old-school napkins., shot glass napkins, you could say. They just don't have enough coverage by themselves. However many napkins you picked up, you'll need to at least double it in order to not be sticky and you're done. Now second mistake... don't try this at home, my truck smells like hotdog and I'm pretty sure there is an oil slick on the steering wheel. Despite all of that, I've come away pleased. Some times you have to get dirty to have a little fun. Way to go Chars! read more

Chard is a frosty type hamburger stop located in downtown old town. I had a Char burger and an order of fries plus a bowl of home style beef soup. Everything was very good. The soup was fresh and tasty. The burger had plenty of veggies, which I like, and the French fries were some of the best frosty fries I have ever had.. the foot long hot dog was really good, too. Comes topped with shredded lettuce, mayo, ketchup, and some pickles. Fries are hot and crisp but probably not made to order as they cooled a little too quickly. The dining experience is medium-fun; not a simulated retro-burger joint but a genuinely dated small town burger snack shack. The furnishings, counter, and kitchen setup nod to a simpler time and place. I think that eating in helps make the whole thing work, get an order to go and you'll lose that whiff of nostalgia that hides all sins. Service is awful, they just stare until you order, no greeting, nothing. Asked for a bubble gum shaved ice, they give us blue raspberry. Basically told us it was bubble gum, made them replace it. I've been going to Char's at least once a week for 17 years. The last two times I have went they have gotten my order incorrect at the drive-through when I get to the window the girls are too busy chitchatting instead of doing their job to make sure the orders are correct. Also, the girl taking the order is talking while placing the orders, so she doesn't hear what the customer orders. Good help is hard to find these days. read more

When I came to your establishment (note past tense), I would order the same thing I order at other places that serve hot dogs. EXTRA CHILI. However, you people put LESS CHILI than any other place. Quick service, friendly staff. Charburger was a lightly greasy burger bite after bite. Just what I want and expect from a fast burger in the south. Patty was thin, well done and fit the bun, wasn't a small one in a huge bun like some places. Old fashioned and a little outdated eating area with some spills that haven't been cleaned up led to a loss of a couple stars, the fact that it hasn't changed much since I was growing up brought one back. Went for the first time in many years although I live right here in town. We wanted some ice cream. I ordered, was charged for, and paid for strawberry shortcake with ice cream. I didn't get the ice cream, although again I was charged for it. It's all to go and packaged. I didn't know any better and I believe they took advantage of that. This is the smallest and most disappointing burger I've ever had. Unsatisfied, I drove all the way back for two missing fries and a burger missing jalapeños. Char's has been around for a LONG time! It's a local restaurant known for that char grilled flavor in their food. I go for the Ice Cream! It's the only place I can find Hershey's Black Cherry Ice Cream! A small cone(2 scoops) is a little over a buck so you can't go wrong. As a local, i'm not a huge fan of the food. Sometimes I do want that Char flavor so i'll head over. The Burgers and Hot Dogs are a big deal here. You can't really go wrong with either of them. The fries, I could do without. And if you go late enough, they'll re-dip them which makes them even worse. read more
