Man, I knew I had to loosen up my big city girl jeans (both literally and figuratively) when the sensational Bridgett herself came out and dunked us with her ball of energy. Our group, admittedly, was a little puzzled by just how damn nice she was at first. But that's just our New York instincts naturally kicking in--we're just skeptical by nature. We heard great things about this place from the locals and knew we just had to eat here (twice, actually), so we knew we made the right choice as soon as we saw a family walk out with bags of food. Bridgett chatted us up all night and was genuinely interested in learning about us big city folks. Man, I have to say...it's been a while since I've had someone come up to me and be so curious about meeting someone who grew up and lives in NYC (because everyone does these days, right?), and it was nice to have that raw curiosity again. Wow! This is my favorite BBQ in Lexington/Welcome. I had a full rack of ribs with green beans, hush puppies, BBQ bread and coleslaw. The food was served very hot. We ordered the smoked turkey platter with two sides--collard greens and fried okra. Also the pulled chicken sandwich and the brisket sandwich. All were very flavorful. The turkey was juicy and a generous portion. The collards had some large fatty chunks a bit off-putting, but the flavor was true southern style. The fried okra was greasy, probably due to an over-used fryer. But the cleanliness and friendliness made the place a real find. We would come back if we lived here. The place was filled with locals--always a good sign. I didn't like that the bathrooms were right next to dining tables, but there was no way to fix that. They are large enough for handicap access--always a plus. read more

I attended Bridgett's kitchen one afternoon after attending a wine festival. We were starving, and needed food quickly and that's what we got! The green beans were so well seasoned with a kick to them. The meatloaf was nice and juicy with a nice smoky flavor. What a lovely little spot in Lexington. We came to town for the annual BBQ festival, turns out there's not a lot of options at the actual festival! We decided to walk around downtown and we stumbled across Bridgett's. So charming, delicious, and the definition of southern hospitality. We met Bridgett and her husband, they are a hard working small business duo! The food was served quickly, it was delicious, and staff were very attentive. We visited this restaurant at 6pm the first Friday in October. There was one table left and open seating outside. I got a single smash cheese burger and my wife got smoked pulled pork. Our other guests ordered the smoked brisket to share. The service was fast and friendly and the sweet tea was perfect. I've never had smoked pork or beef. I noticed the outside of the meats were completely black. I tried a piece of it and it had the consistency of wet cotton. I'm not sure if it was meant to be eaten. The meat itself was very dry but did have a distinct smoked flavor. My smash burger was good and so was a side of okra. Their signature offering is the brisket but it was too unusual for me to try it again. I plan on returning and trying the chicken. read more

Finally stopped to experience the talk of the town. Saturday lunch was a busy time and loved hearing the orders called out to the kitchen staff. The servers were super nice and attentive. Overall atmosphere was of visiting your friend's home. We ordered smoked brisket plates with the smoked mac n' cheese, baked beans, cole slaw, hushpuppies, and bread. The smoked mac n' cheese is decadently delicious. It's creamy and the smokey cheese flavor brings it over the top. The hush puppies were full of seasoning with the perfect outside crunch. Beans and slaw were good sides to round out the meal with different flavors and textures. The brisket was so tender and full of that slow smoked essence. They have 3 BBQ sauces on the table; we preferred the sweet. The sweet tea is really good. The amount of food for the price was quite reasonable, as we sat for lunch but now we will have the leftovers for our dinner tonight. I had the pulled pork salad.My son a chopped sandwich and what looked to be hand cut fries.His girlfriend chose the smoked meatloaf but had to settle for the Brisket.They didn't have the meatloaf on the menu that day. Do not plan on going here today 10/26, my daughter and I drove 30 minutes here today to eat lunch after her cheerleading game. You can't even park, their Facebook page and website does not tell you that you can't park in their parking lot without paying $10 due to a festival that's going on in town. Delicious! Both the owner and her daughter were so very helpful. Of the meats, only the meatloaf was off limits. The sausage was not house made, but they said known celiacs had eaten it with no ill effects (the owner is celiac). I happen to love smoked turkey and was given 2 large thick slices. The sauces were excellent and all were GF. I had creamed potatoes and green beans for my sides. We hadn't eaten since early morning so I got a full meal, but the sandwiches can be made with gluten free buns and they also had gf sliders. Husband and I had supper here tonight for the first time. Ate outside because it was so crowded. Ambiance outside was very pleasant. The food was out of this world! Had to be some of the best service we have experienced in a long, long time! All the servers kept coming by to check on us. After hearing several things about Bridgett's Kitchen, I decided to give it a go last Saturday while in Lexington, NC. I was not greeted when I walked in but I found myself a seat & began browsing the menu. Being married to a pit master myself, I always love to give the burnt ends a try. I tried the Mac & cheese, along with greens. I'll have to say the portions of the burnt ends were a little disappointing for the price, though I've had higher ones. They were on the dry side & tight. I found nothing special about the sides and didn't finish my plate. The sauces were thick, with more of a tomato paste presentation. I'll have to disagree on that slogan on that menu, "Come as a stranger, leave as family". It was quite obvious that you had to be a regular to engage in any conversation. Although "Bridget" asked several people how the food was, I was never asked. I did hear her explain in great detail to the table beside of me that she used veal in her meatloaf at home but couldn't afford to do that at the restaurant. Hey, I get that wholeheartedly. We can't do things in our restaurant that we can do at home! I didn't appreciate having to wait to pay while the conversation continued after being ignored. I do understand how it is in small towns. So you don't go here because of the ambiance. The food was in general pretty good.. I say "pretty" good because I really liked most of it... with one exception. I ordered a brisket sandwich, The brisket was very dry, I had to add sauce to make it ok. The sauce was good, I had the sweet sauce. The issue with the brisket was it was dry, almost over cooked. Now I am a brisket snob, lived in Texas for a while and my hobby there was to go out on weekends and try as many brisket places as I could. So we are talking a really high bar, so take it for what it's worth. Hush puppies were fresh and warm. Onion rings, tasty. And the service.... over the top good. Attentive would be an understatement. So I would artfully recommend this place... but If you are a brisket snob like me... might pass on that option. read more
