I will start off by saying the BBQ half chicken was really good. Both the white and red slaw also pretty good. Chopped bbq was decent but nothing i would go out of my way for. The sauce/dip was awesome so that really helped. Burger i had today wasn't great. Soggy bun wilted lettuce and not much flavor all around. Fries seemed like they would be really good if they were fresh but mine were cold and had a strange texture. The seasoning was perfect though so i still ate them ‍ Service was excellent the whole wait staff seemed very genuine and on their game. We were in Spenser for the train. We saw this place at lunch and it was slammed. We stopped in at 3PM for linner between lunch and dinner. You seat yourself and start looking at the menu - we were hungry so everything looked good. We had a pile of food for $50 plus tip. Food is all on point - banana pudding is yum. Cool decor - clean tables - nice service - quick food after ordering - everything was correct and tasted good. Bbq chicken, wings, fries, hotdogs, coleslaw - that yummy crushed ice in your cheerwine. I have only been here twice, but we always come with a crowd of people, so I can honestly say there is nothing on the menu that isn't delicious! I was surprised to see that no one was masked (patrons nor employees), and no one was concerned about social distancing, but that was ok with me. The staff were friendly and helpful, every one of them bustling all over to refill drinks or ask if we needed anything. I like that kind of service! They weren't worried about sticking to their own tables. If they had a tea jug in their hands, they were all over the restaurant refilling glasses. The food, of course, was excellent! The bbq was perfectly smoked and the chicken was sooo tender. The hush puppies can't be beat and I've had some good ones! Lol. As jam-packed as the place always is, it's always clean and sanitized. A used table doesn't stay empty for long so the staff is always competent in cleaning quickly yet efficiently. If you haven't given them a try yet, you're missing out on some good bbq and chicken. Any time the wife and I come to Salisbury, our go to BBQ joint has always been College BBQ. Since it was so nice out today (10-8-20) the wife wanted to take our BBQ to Dan Nicholas park for a picnic, so we stopped in here because it was the closest BBQ joint to the park. Went thru the drive thu and both the order take and cashier were friendly. Waited just a few minutes and our order was brought to the car and the girl thanked us for our tip. We got the family pack with 1 lb of BBQ, a pint of slaw and dip and 12 hamburger buns. We added a half dozen hush puppies and it was just shy of $19.00, a good deal since the wife and I will be able to have 3-4 meals for just $19.00 The BBQ was pulled pork with a little bit of dip already mixed in. It was smoky, but I'm a smoke junkie, so I thought it could have used more, but the wife said it was fine. The hushpuppies were good with a slight hint of sweetness. The dip was a darker red than I am used to and a tad sweeter so I suspect they used a little more ketchup in it along with a hint more black pepper than other BBQ joints or what I make at home but it was good just a little different than what I'm used to. The red slaw was spot on. Overall it was good but no where near good enough for us to make the switch from College BBQ. Let's put it this way, If the wife said let's stop by here again and get BBQ to take to the park for a picnic, she wouldn't have to put a gun to my head to get me to do it! read more

Stopped for a quick bite on our way home. Food and service was prompt and kids eat free so four of us ate for $18! The decor was probably original from whoever old the establishment is. We had the bbq platter that comes with hush puppies and slaw. It was a generous portion and the slaw was super good. The bbq wasn't fancy but it was decent. Date: 04/01/2017 Time: 1:00 PM This is a great little place to stop in and get some good North Carolina BBQ. The most confusing thing was the menu and why I didn't give it 5 stars. It doesn't really explain on the menu what comes in the BBQ tray. I had to ask my family what came with it to make sure that was what I wanted to order. Just in case anyone is wondering; it is literally a tray (probably enough for 2 at lunch) juicy bbq, with a side, and hush puppies. Honestly, I just put a little ketchup because I always do, but I didn't even have to put any extra sauce on it because it was so melt in your mouth delicious exactly how it was. My side was the most creamy (no mustard) potato salad I have ever tasted! The bbq usually comes with cole slaw (red or white) but I am not a fan of the stuff. The hush puppies were great too! One thing I do have to mention is how much I love the decor!!! I am a huge old school Coca Cola fan etc. And it made me feel right at home! Our waitresses were over the top and were so friendly! I was driving through Salisbury searching for BBQ. This place looked like a quick detour so I thought I would give it a try. Some of the WORST "BBQ" I've ever eaten! I don't even know how to describe the "coleslaw". The chopped beef tasted like something out of the cold section at Food Lion. And the slaw was shredded cabbage with vinegar/bbq sauce concoction on it. It was all thrown together in some Flemish "tray". Worst $15 for a meal I've spent in a long time. The food was amazing!!!! We had the chicken tender salad (with amazing homemade ranch dressing), hush puppies, the funnel cake sticks (simply amazeballs) and the 2-piece flounder plate with mac and cheese and onion rings. The fish was unfortunately frozen (but she told us) since they only have fresh fish on Friday, but it was tasty. The mac and cheese was nice and creamy and the hush puppies had just the right amount of sweetness to them. I do wish the onion rings weren't so greasy, but they were tasty.
