GO Here! We sat at the bar and had a PBR or 2. Bartender Penny helped walk us thru the menu and make excellent choices for me and my husband while traveling on a Sunday at a 11am opening. WOW! So good we needed a box. 3 meats tray with 3 sides. Perfectly chopped and flavorful barbque no sauce needed but a top of red slaw and sauce is how we like it. Pork Spare Ribs were delish with smoke flavor ordered dry and put our own sauce. Brisket delicious with full flavor. We chose kickin collard greens and baked beans, got a sample of the red slaw and then asked for a full side as we use a topper too! Cornbread was like a sweet cake. All was so delish that we couldn't finish and boxed it up and topped the sides for another meal later today. Thanks to all on Yelp who gave great reviews and I can see why! Yum!
Got my fix of NC pork BBQ, Green Beans, & Hush Puppies. Healthy amount of Q on the Sandwhich and almost big enough for two. Q was good quality but could use a little more vinegar. Pups and green beans 5 star. Quick friendly service at the bar. Ambiance is basic BBQ restaurant style with booths and tables. They have a full bar.
Stopped in for an early lunch with my son today and was pleasantly surprised. The parking lot was full and I expected a wait to be seated but we were greeted and seated immediately upon entering. Our waitress was prompt and checked on us often in a way that felt genuine. The servings were very big and I'm glad the sides were served in containers. The sweet potato casserole and okra were my favorites. I'd definitely be back.
Food was great and service was excellent! Plenty to choose from on this menu from all things smoked to spuds to salads and sides. The top tray is labeled with the picture. The lower tray has burnt ends, chicken wings, cream corn, sweet potato casserole and cornbread. Yum!
We visited here while on vacation (celebrating our engagement) and were blown away by how attentive, sweet and welcoming the (to go) staff were. We had no idea what we wanted to try and they were all so incredibly helpful and kind! I will say the portion sizes are HUGE and absolutely delicious!!! While we didn't eat in, I saw the dining area and it just looked like the perfect place to have family dinner. It's the kind of place where everyone knows your name, the staff is amazing, the food is fantastic and the laughs together are everlasting. Since then we've returned home (to Yankee territory, lol!) and I haven't stopped talking about their burnt ends and cornbread!! We also got to try one of their desserts and oh my goodness, absolutely fantastic!! And if I wasn't completely stuffed from my entree, I would have inhaled the entire dessert! We will definitely be visiting every time we are in town. Thank you for welcoming us and showing us the best NC has to offer! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making our last dinner with our extended family exceptional!
The food is always delicious fresh mouth watering. I recommend this place to anybody and everybody. and the service are always friendly and courteous.
JUST 5 STARS IS JUST NOT ENOUGH The food is not cheap...but as you get what you pay for..this place is top shelf. (you could save by going to Mickie's down the street, and maybe the hamburger might have some beef in it ) YUK YUK YUK The 14 hour cook and my DINO RIB was unbelievable. I was annoyed when my knife was made out of plastic and i was eating beef...guess what, i never used the knife... the meat juicy as can be, came off the bone with just my fork.... oh my gosh... i have wished for something like this in the last 10 BBQ place i visited. THIS MEAT WAS SUPER TENDER ! The wife had 1/2 rack of ribs which were done just right , tender and juicy..... The RED coleslaw wasn't not my cup of tea, but thank heavens the waitress brought me a sample ,which i rejected and went to the white slaw. The hush puppies were crispy on the outside and not dried out on the inside. French fries had some kind of coating along with potato skin....they were good. The string beans were TOO spicy for me, but the best part was-- it was on my wife's plate . I would love to come back. Too bad i live 240 miles away, otherwise i would be a fixture here. Dam ..just remembered forgot to order banana pudding... (there you go my excuse to return before going home) HATS OFF TO EMMA K-----the waitress who made my stay just as good as the food..... DON"T MISS TRYING THIS ONE.......
Stumbled upon this great bbq joint in Salisbury and so glad we did! The service and great and the portions are huge, so come hungry. We were sat immediately and our server was super quick and attentive. We ordered a little bit of everything- hush puppies, turkey, pork, burnt ends, collard greens, hash brown casserole, and beans. Everything came out quickly and fresh, and tasted great. The hush puppies as an appetizer is absolutely humongous! They were delicious and I'm pretty sure there were like 50 of them. The cinnamon butter was also so different and yummy. The burnt ends stole the show for the meats, and the collards for the sides. They had draft beer options and some cocktails as well, and enough items on the menu to please everyone in the group. We had so many leftovers, but so glad we stopped at this cool bbq restaurant!
I kept hearing about the smoke pit so I made a special trip out to experience it, and it did not disappoint. The interior has such southern charm and is very clean and bright. The server was attentive and so so nice, she made me feel right at home and gave great suggestions about sides and meats. The bbq was amazing! I tried the pulled pork and the sausage and I tried several of their bbq sauces available on the table. There wasnt a single one I didnt like. I went on a wednesday and you get an extra free side so I took advantage and got slaw, Mac n cheese, and the fried okra. It came with pickles and pickled onions and your choice of hushpuppies or cornbread. To be honest the only underwhelming thing were the hushpuppies. They were basically cookout hushpuppies, not homemade or original, however the okra blew me away it was so freaking delicious! I don't know how often I will take a special trip out there but if I want bbq I know where to go.
Come here if you want top quality meat without having to wait so long for food. Some many employees working hard here and they are all customer service trained. The food itself is always great, but the customer service is even better. 2 meat and 2 veggie plate is my go to.

I drove 45 miles from CLT on superbowl Sunday and got there at 7, about an hour before closing. The place was pretty quiet for the reasons above, but the staff were super friendly and attentive even though they probably just wanted to go home and watch the game. All that said - fantastic bbq. The Texas trinity was huge. Three rib bones, 2 generous slices of brisket, a cut up sausage, tons of toast and brisket Mac and cheese. I got a couple of wings just to try them. Everything was top notch. Smoked ribs can be dry and these were on the dry side, but slathered in their bbq sauce, they were tender and fatty in all the best ways. The brisket Mac and cheese "side" was a meal in itself. If I weren't staying at a hotel, this would have been enough food for a couple of days.
My brother took me out for my birthday and we had a feast. Started with the fried pickles. They were sour but good with the ranch. Not to much batter. Now for the main entree. We had the 7 meat feast. Comes with 1 pound of each meats, four pinto size sides and I added the beef Dino bone for a extra $30. The total of the seven meat is $150. I liked the ribs and the turkey. The turkey was moist and tasty! The waitress made sure my party had refills and keep checking on us to make sure we happy. It was busy and the restaurant was clean with plenty of seats. My party didn't finish it. So we had left over for dinner! So if you're in the area, stop by and give it a try!!! Also invite me to come with!

Smoke Pit-Salisbury location, I had an "Awesome" Sunday meal and the service from Katy was excellent! The restaurant was super clean as were the restrooms. I opted for the burnt ends sandwich on Texas toast ( recommended by our server Katy instead of the bun) which was a great choice. The meat was super tender, great smoke and kissed with a little bbq and those luscious caramelized onions. I decided on side of collard greens and mac 'n cheese. Hubby had the Texas Trinity which consisted of ribs, sliced brisket and sliced jalapeño cheese sausage link served with the best hush puppies and he decided on sides of collard greens and sweet potato casserole. Note, sorry the brisket was almost devoured before I could take the pic. Everything was seasoned to perfection! The brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage was the best he's had since leaving Texas in 2006; so good in fact that he ordered 2 additional links to go! With bellies full, took the delicious peach cobbler to-go...YUM! Another thing that will bring me back besides the food, I love that they employee our young people to give them real life work experience. #Teens Need Jobs! THE GOOD - the portions are gigantic, so for the things you like, you'll get a lot - the sweet potato casserole is great and like dessert -the potato salad has good flavor. I was worried from the pictures it'd be too mayonnaise heavy, but it's got a little zing to it. -cornbread is moist with good flavor -the sell a plate of sides for people like me who love sides -Mac and cheese was good THE OK -green beans are fine. The group was torn on if they were ok or bad. -chicken nachos were pretty good. The portion is huge, but all the chips at the bottom were dry -the collard greens were not the style I like, but they were tender with a smoky flavor THE NOT GOOD - shockingly, the brisket was over salted, which is tough to do. This is the perfect "pit stop" right off I-85. I ordered the pound of brisket with a side of beans and white slaw. The brisket had just the right balance of flavor and tenderness, and I really enjoyed it--especially the original sauce, which was by far my favorite. The beans were solid and packed with brisket, adding great flavor. The white slaw wasn't my personal favorite, but it still had good flavor. Overall, this is a definite stop if you're in the mood for solid Carolina barbecue. read more
Today we had lunch at The Smoke Pit in Salisbury after a visit to Dan Nicholas Park. Wow, this place was great. The prices are definitely on the higher side, this was $107 all said, but the food quality was excellent and the portions were generous. I had the Dino beef rib which was truly immense, and so insanely tender and flavorful. I'd say it's a must try for this place. My husband had the burnt ends which were flavorful as well, very saucy and delicious. My daughter's pork ribs were a bit less tender but very tasty. All of the sides were great. Loved the jambalaya and the hash brown casserole! read more

I love this place. The chicken quarters in the Alabama white sauce is delicious. If I lived closer I'd be here weekly. The cornbread is sweet and salty and hits the spot! You cant go wrong with anything here. Everything is delicious and tastes sooo good!!! The staff is always sweet and welcoming. The restaurant is bright and has cute decor. I'll stand 10 toes down on this is the best bbq in NC by a long shot. When we are craving bbq, we will make a special trip to Salisbury just for this meal alone. Ever since they moved to their new space it's been so nice having plenty of parking and a huge dining room. We've never had to wait. The service is also always very friendly and prompt. As far as the food goes, their brisket is out of this world. It's like biting into butter. I also love their chicken quarters with the Alabama white sauce over top, it just takes the dish to the next level. I'm positive there will be many more visits to The Smoke Pit in the future! read more

Really good BBQ, flat out. The quality of the BBQ is well worth it and the sides are just as good. The baked beans tasted exactly like my grandma would make in West Virginia, and the best I have had since then. I ordered a Stock Market sandwich and it was amazing. It's a big sandwich. The depth of the pepper bark on the brisket was mind altering. The staff was very nice and attentive. It was clean and well kept with a BBQ feel. read more

So we tried smoke pit out once back when we were living in Lexington. We got takeout at the time because everything was closed down at the time in 2020. We've since moved from Lexington, but we visited the area and I could recall the food being good from here. Turns out, the food is great from here, still! Our first time dining in, and the service was blazing fast and friendly. Seriously, I could not believe how fast our food came out for a family of four! I've waited longer for fast food. The restaurant was clean with a pleasant light wood stain motif for the interior, and we sat at a fairly comfortable booth, despite no cushioning. The burnt ends was just absolutely incredible, and the Dino bone was expensive but also amazing! Juicy, nice sauce, great smoke flavor and so tender! Man...I'll be back sooner than another 5 years, let me just be clear on that! Very pleased, and do not skip the jambalaya! It was so good with only a hint of spice, but I have a fairly high spice tolerance. My wife felt it was rather spicy but enjoyed it as well. Pork spare ribs were a little tougher but that's also the nature of the cut. Not sure that would be my top item but I would happily eat them again as my kid's leftovers! read more

Big portions and lots of options! Great spot for quality barbecue where everyone can get what they want. Service was good and everyone was very kind. Seems to be a popular lunch spot, as it's large and has lots of seating. read more

The Smoke Pit in Salisbury is a 'can't miss' place in Salisbury for BBQ My favorite brisket this side of the Mississippi. Great sides and the service is always fantastic. Great desserts too. The place is always hopping so they must be doing something right for all of these years. read more

Visited on at Saturday with a party of 6. Wait time given was 20-25 mins. Was actually called in about 12 mins. Server was very friendly, nice and helpful. Our food came out quick. EVERYTHING we ordered was great. The Brisket was a fan favorite. Generous portions and flavorful. I highly recommend this restaurant and will return if EVER in the area. read more

Ashley - I found it to be right in the middle - that way they appeal to both taste buds! It's extremely yummy!!
It says buffet?
No. There is no regular buffet during the weeknights. (Tuesday night is taco night, though - yummy). Maybe on the weekend?
