Really delicious food. I had the fried flounder, my husband had the grilled marinade Monterey Jack chicken.

Friendly atmosphere. Food was great. I had the fried flounder and my husband had the marinade grilled Monterey Jack chicken. If I lived near, I would eat here at least once a week.

StaleMagnolia ..

I've been eating here since it was the Anchor House seafood. We really need something like this in the area and I'm glad it reopened yet again after the last closure. I waited a long time to even go in and try it because the time before this one it wasn't very good. I'm glad I finally went in. They have daily specials which I cant remember because they rarely post on their fb page as one of the owners told me it wasn't necessary but my very nice server gave me a cheat sheet and wrote them all down for me so I would know what is on what day. I love the big chef salad, hamburger steak, their bacon cheeseburger is fantastic, homemade chips are the best I've ever had and they make all their dressings in house. I have enjoyed everything except the popcorn shrimp, it is just way too salty, must be something in the batter but I just cant eat it. I've ordered it 3 times thinking it was just a mistake but no, all 3 times it was overly salty so to solve that problem I just don't order it anymore. I love hotdogs, they are my favorite food and I just expected they would have a footlong, but they don't. In this case it worked out good for me because if they had I would of gotten that and never tried anything else. I do though wish they had biscuits and gravy and livermush for breakfast. I go in several times a week and eat by myself, not something I really enjoy doing but I'm okay with it here as mid day it can be deserted in there. I don't know the current owners but I'm told it is the 2 ladies I see in there working, one of them is mainly out with the people and I always hated having her as a waitress or dealing with her because I swear she is the saddest woman I have ever seen in my life. No matter what you say she is just so sad, never happy, in my opinion. Now not actually knowing her it could just be that she is painfully shy and that's fine but when you work with the public, one on one with people you need to put on a happy face especially in a tip based business. That all said, we will be back. I just wish they were more actively involved with the community on their fb page. I love following local places and seeing what they are doing on a daily basis.

Great food, affordable. It is a bit far for us to go, but a nice drive for a date night.

Bad food. That's all I will say. The service was ok but the food was horrible. Building could use an update too.

A must stop for both dinner and Southern breakfast enthusiasts…read more On my way home from Charlotte, I used Yelp to find me a classic diner to start my day off right. I choose the Crack of Dawn Diner in Concord. I am so glad I did. Crack of Dawn Diner is the real thing--a local Concord breakfast-and-lunch spot serving traditional Southern fare at reasonable prices. The menu caters to local tastes, the dining room is filled with regulars, and the atmosphere is comfortable rather than trendy. Parking is somewhat limited. The private lot surrounding the restaurant was fully used so I parked in the lot next door that had signs that said private property, but it looked like other patrons were parking there also so I took the chance. As it turns out, it was safe to park there. The entrance is very welcoming, as well as the staff. Amanda was my very efficient and nice waitress. There is great teamwork here, and Amanda was well supported by, I believe, the owner who ran my food out and talked a bit with me. The menu is fascinating. A distinctly North Carolina menu. Several things jumped out: * Breakfast special for $6.59 weekdays * Breakfast plates mostly under $12 * Grits included as a side option * Livermush available * City ham and country ham both offered * Pork chops available for breakfast I ordered the country-fried steak with white gravy (essentially chicken-fried steak), along with two sunny-side-up eggs, perfectly prepared grits, a large buttermilk biscuit, and a delicious diner coffee. The restaurant occupies a stand-alone building with a warm, "come on in and rest a spell" atmosphere. Inside, you'll find counter seating, an open kitchen, and tables throughout the dining room. I chose a seat by the window overlooking the parking area. This was a great breakfast, that was reasonably priced, in a great atmosphere, with very nice people. It stuck to both my mind and ribs all day long. After breakfast, I continued on to downtown Concord and spent some time exploring one of North Carolina's most charming revitalized downtown districts. The breakfast was the perfect start to the morning. Crack of Dawn Diner has earned a spot on my repeat list whenever my travels take me through the Charlotte-Concord area.

If you like bland and straight from the chef store ordering, this is the place for you. I ordered a…read morelazy nacho salad thinking it would be like a taco salad, well it was canned unseasoned corn, 8 overly fried tortilla chips, dry preshredded cheese, thick cut lettuce but the white parts, and chili which was alright but could have also been from a can. I also ordered a side of green beans, they were also straight from the can. I also received a sweet tea, which was good but also how do you mess that up? And the kicker, $18 for that... should have stayed home. I was really hopeful for this place but after trying it twice and it was just as bland, I unfortunately will not be back.

This diner was an awesome Yelp choice. Old school look with amazing service and food…read more My eggs were fluffy as well as my pancakes. The chicken wings were huge, fried just right and juicy. Kudos to the chef. Only negative is they offer a whipped spread instead of real butter. Delicious pancakes deserve good butter. I asked for real butter and all they had was honey butter. Do not sleep on asking for it. While it still spread, the honey makes it much better.

When we pulled up, there was a police outside, which didn't bother us. If anything, it made things feel more secure. They also use a metal detector when you walk in before being seated. Don't let that scare you off though -- this place is a well-oiled machine and everything felt organized and under control. Our server was fantastic: calm, attentive, and never pushy. I ordered the country fried steak with collards and mashed potatoes with gravy, and my husband got a burger. My meal was excellent, and it came with a perfectly flaky biscuit. The tea was Southern SWEET tea, too. My husband said his burger was good for a diner, fresh vegetables and the fries were seasoned well. The diner itself is adorable, full of character and charm. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely come back.

Cagney's Kitchen offers solid food with many options…read more The 7 of us came in for some good dinner, and Cagney's met most of our standards. Our server was tired (given it was 8:00PM) but was very helpful and was willing to do whatever to make us happy. I ordered a medium rare ribeye, and I received a medium ribeye. My dad ordered a medium ribeye, and received a medium rare ribeye. I guess they put our steaks on the wrong plate?! Idk, but it's fine. I like creamy horseradish with my steak, and asked for the ingredients to make it and said I would make it myself, but our server made it for me! That was very kind of her! They have 36 different sides that you can choose from. I got a side salad with ranch and fries. Their salad came with shredded lettuce pieces which was odd and kind of hard to eat. The side house salad just comes with grape tomatoes and purple onions on it. The ranch is nothing special. The fries had nothing wrong with them and hit the spot! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food, which is a good thing and should be the number one goal of a restaurant (and they met it). I can't be too mad at Cagney's for my medium steak.
