We had dinner at Sweet Meadow this evening and the food was absolutely fantastic! We started with the crab pizza appetizer, which my boyfriend and I agree was exquisite. We then had the muffuletta and tuna salad sandwiches as our entrees. We've both ordered these in the past and loved them so much we have not strayed to try other items yet. We finished the meal with their cherry cobbler crumble which was wonderfully complex in flavor - delicious! The atmosphere is always great and the service top notch. We came on a Fri for lunch as we were travelling down I-85. The place has a great unique, local, downtown vibe. The menu seemed attractive - which was one of the reasons we elected to visit. My bride ordered the Salmon Sandwich ($17) and she commented that it was a great fresh piece of fish and really enjoyed it. I went with the Pesto Turkey Club ($13) and it was tasty. My recommendation is to add more turkey and raise the price. Service from our server (young man....didn't get his name) was prompt and very hospitable. read more

Visited for lunch yesterday with a friend. Very attractive little restaurant with nice original art decor. Very cozy. I ordered the salmon sandwich on ciabbata with a side of fresh fruit. The salmon tasted very fresh and was seasoned perfectly. The fruit was grapes, pineapple, cantaloupe and honeydew. Fruit was sweet and tasty although honeydew to me is a filler. I had not been to this sleepy country town before despite being well-traveled in North Carolina, but I thought this distinctive cafe worth the stop. Offered a vegetarian-friendly menu, I struggled to choose but restrained myself to a salad with imported goat cheese, which was rather delightful. More filling options abounded, and I regretted not getting the New Orleans style red beans and rice, particularly given how hard it is to find that dish vegetarian in New Orleans. The interior had the sort of atmosphere you might find in Bywater or thereabouts, and admitted of more appreciation than I had time to give. There aren't a ton of places you'd find out this way that will offer food that meets special dietary needs either, so unless you're planning on eating in Charlotte this is a good stop. read more

Even though I pass Salisbury daily on my commute, I never think to stop. Last Sunday I decided to take a minute to explore downtown for lunch. Found this place unfortunately 5 minutes before they closed, but it looked so inviting I made a plan to try again on my drive home at the end of the week. So glad I did. Their menu had several inviting items, but decided to keep it simple with the steak sandwich special. It was was far from simple and well beyond what I was expecting. The steak and onions were grilled perfectly, and the horseradish aioli was an amazing compliment. A huge shout out to the staff. Absolutely gracious and generous. Loved my whole experience and will definitely be back. A perfect excuse to explore more of the downtown area shops. read more

I would maybe consider going here again if I wanted a black bean burger and was in the area but honestly the customer service was so poor and disrespectful I probably won't be back. Take out experience was horrible, I felt so unwelcome and awkward waiting for my food. As soon as I walked in I was felt like I wasn't allowed. Wine and beer list offered local product! The menu is a nice array of personal and shareable appetizers, entree salads, soups, sandwiches and dinners. We had the berry brie appetizer, the black bean soup (dill sour cream is a must!), and the vegetable burrito (also available with chicken or shrimp). Served with homemade mango salsa. Super cute restaurant in downtown Salisbury. Very homey feel. The gentlemen who seated us and checked in on us was absolutely wonderful. He was so kind and really seemed to care about our experience. The lady, not so much but she did her job. We ordered waters, the salmon sandwich w/side salad, tuna sandwich w/ side salad, cheese pizza and side of fruit. The salmon was cooked to a wonderful medium and the ciabatta bread was toasted perfectly. The tuna was okay. There was a bit too much peppercorn. The side salad came with a heap of spring mix, one tomato and one slice of cucumber. The dressing was a bit thick and overpowering-didn't use much of it. Our total was about $45-but, my children were still hungry when we left-they shared the pizza and fruit. There is no kids menu, so keep that in mind. The pizza was $9 and the fruit was $5. The fruit had three pieces of honeydew melon, two pieces of watermelon and grapes. I don't know that I would return just because I have very young children and $26 for two pizzas and fruit (no beverage or dessert) just wouldn't work. I did want to try their brunch menu because I heard it's delicious. But, you should definitely check them out for yourself-maybe just for date night! read more

What an amazing, cozy, eclectic, inviting, cool, fun and welcoming place this is! The decor, atmosphere, the plates of food we viewed as we waited to be seated, just the overall first minute of our visit was intoxicating to the senses! The menu -Sunday Brunch, Brunch, and cocktail had so many wonderful options to choose from. We decided on a special Bacon Quiche with Brunch Potatoes and fruit and Eggs Benedict with Brunch Potatoes. Nothing special to drink this visit besides a sweet tea (which was on point) and ice water. The potatoes were cooked and seasoned to perfect. Just the right amount of crispness to the fluffiness of the thicker slices. The quiche was flavorful and filling with the smokey bacon, tang of red onion, and bite of the white cheddar. The Eggs Benedict, with the creamy hollandaise mixed into the runny egg brought out some of the flavor from the Canadian bacon making every bite delectably indulgent. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. We will return on a Sunday to try more brunch items and on a weeknight to try some of the items other reviewers raved about. read more

OMG the Baked Goat Cheese appetizer is amazing! It had goat cheese baked with roasted garlic and sun-dried tomatoes with some crusty ciabatta. The turkey pesto sandwich and bacon blue chicken salad also had lots of flavor, but I'd go back and get that appetizer again and wouldn't share it. While visiting a friend we stopped in for lunch while exploring downtown Salisbury. Sweet Meadow has very charming decor. Lots of tables. And the staff was very friendly and attentive. It took us a minute to look over the menu but I ordered the muffaletta sandwich with fruit and split it with one of my friends. And my other friend got the veggie burrito. Everything was really yummy. Fresh. So tasty. And I would have given them a 5 but we all thought that at the price point they were charging that the meals should of had another element on the plate like house made chips or fries. Came in during the Cheerwine festival. The host at first was slow (place wasn't busy) but after we sat, our waitress was fast and efficient. They were out of a few items and evidently we got the last roasted red crab dip. Also had the tuna melt. They were out of the beer I wanted, so went with a backup. I purchased the tuna melt which was a massive wad of tuna, bacon and cheese. I assumed the tuna would've been warm, but it was cold.... Ian like that or whatever. I'm thinking a tuna melt is supposed to be a warmer sandwich. Now that fresh fruit was refreshing and paired well with the tuna, almost giving the tuna a different taste. I would like to say that Tim, the server/bartender, was amazing and made the situation much better, which I appreciate. Regarding the meal, I have eaten here before in the past with no issues. We started off with an appetizer, the crab cake dip, which was amazing and very filling. It was served with pita bread and was warm, not cold. As for my main meal, it was the crab cake sandwich, and the presentation was on point. I opted for the salad instead of the fruit to try something different, but I wasn't a fan of the dill vinaigrette, which was supposed to be like a homemade-style ranch. So I didn't eat my salad, but it was pretty standard for a salad. Keep in mind that today, I decided to try something entirely new. I'm a huge fan of crab cakes, especially on a sandwich, so I thought I'd give it a try. The sandwich had one crab cake and some yellow salsa-like dip along the top and the side of the cake, so I tried a bit of the sauce. I immediately hated it but, for the looks it wasn't entirely covering the crab cake, so I scraped off the majority that I could see. Then I squished the crab cake down on the ciabatta bread, which was too heavy/thick of a bread for the meal in my opinion because the crab cake was small, But, again, I'm a huge fan of crab cakes and wanted to give it a try. Once I bit into it, it turned into a complete disaster. The sauce must have been made with it ! When I asked, I was told it was like a Dijon mustard however, it tasted more like wasabi at a Japanese spot. So if you're not a fan of the instant heat factor that messes up with your sinuses, like wasabi can, I suggest not getting this meal. On top of that, the crab cake was completely dry. I used the crab dip appetizer to add moisture to the crab sandwich, but it didn't do much justice. I also added lettuce to make it more filling than just a crab cake and bread, because the ciabatta bread was too heavy. The proportions weren't balanced, and the sauce spread despite my attempts to remove it found it's way throughout the sandwich. It didn't make it any better. However, like I mentioned before, Tim was amazing. He took off a discount and also gave us a special on two green tea shots, which I really appreciated. He didn't have to, but he did. Just because I had a bad experience with this meal doesn't mean I won't come back. I still enjoy the vibe and the overall downtown experience. read more

The Paloma was really good. Ambiance was kinda funky in a good way. I really wanted to love the food but it missed pretty hard.. so close to being great but the sauces were meh and the bread on the steak sandwich was meh. Put this steak on a French baguette and add mayo to the horseradish sauce and it would be a solid Sammy but for $21 it missed the mark. The dill dressing was also missing flavor. The salmon was a good added to the goat salad, without it that would have been a pretty meh salad. Could be a great spot with a few little tweaks read more

happened upon Sweet Meadow when out with the cutest of chicks having a casual stroll after assembly day, convenient that we were also in need of a meal when we saw the sign 'Out Of the Ordinary not Out Of the Way' and figured to stop and have a look. the property, currently bedecked in neo-beat, is alleged to have once housed a bank whose vault remains upstairs, intact, and big as life in all its hardened steel irony. so yeah, that counts as un-ordinary while the rest of it is about one beret shy of hep cattery. call it toney but without the tension of pretense - and so we're in. really like that the menu items have more than a passing relation to their names: the Chicken and Swiss Sandwich is made with chicken breast, swiss cheese, and ciabatta bread, likewise for the Grilled Portobello Salad and the Roasted 1/2 Duck. I'll take accuracy over cute every time... started with a dish of baked raviolis in a savory sauce; five cheese pillows in a flood of baconaise, onion, and yum! and my date insisted I have the extra. kitchen was fresh out of zucchini so MLB subbed the crab cake for a veggie burrito while I opted for spicy red beans & yellow rice with the assurance of taking some home :-) heard no complaints on the crab cakes so I'll take that as a winner and the red beans and rice were oh so very very! slices of middling sausage played well with the beans, the flavors complimenting each other ahead of the subtle stylings of yellow rice and a cilantro crema. all this accompanied by coffee black for me and a well mannered red for my best girl. read more

All 5 in our party had something different to eat and everything was tasty, fresh and perfectly presented in on the plate. Was expecting to find Cuban and creole food here as per the description in YELP. The menu didn't match that expectation; though I did get an excellent black bean soup. Sort of a Cuban Offering. Was informed that their food offerings readily change and several international themed dishes come and go, that may explain why was listed as having Cuban and Creole food. Also FYI there is a nearby Latin Restaurant Mambos that is likely to have Cuban food. The Black Bean soup had some bite to it. With seasoning that places some hotness to both the back of the throat and the tip of the tongue. The heat builds up but is far from being intolerable. Just the opposite it is just perfect for my pallet. The cilantro was finely minced and spread out evenly. Topped with sour cream in a circular swirl pattern. All adding up to superior attention to detail and a fine and even taste throughout. My ZOMBIE COCKTAIL was nicely blended: 3 rums, Pineapple and Lime juice and Grand Mariner; smooth and the sweetness is nicely understated. My partner's Chicken Salad was well received by her and she is definitely a foodie. The staff was dressed for Halloween. But more importantly they were friendly. So very disappointed with the food at Sweet meadow! We stopped there once before for coffee and dessert. It was good, and we liked the kitschy decor. We came back this evening for dinner. What a mistake! My husband's garlic shrimp with green beans and mashed potatoes (very uncreative sides for the shrimp), was just "okay". The vegetables were cold. My dinner however was a culinary disaster. My house salad was a bed of arugula with 1/2 cucumber slice. Really? And the crabcakes were obviously pre-fab, and were tasteless, due to the amount of filler. My green beans were also cold. Certainly not worth $25.00, let alone $65. We won't be back! read more
