I vowed I'd never return to a Cracker Barrel until they got rid of their current CEO who led an effort to do a makeover on the brand. However, this was my daughter's last night visiting us before returning to the West Coast, and we have fond memories of eating at CB during our family travels when she was MUCH younger. We arrived at this location an hour before closing, which I try to avoid with any restaurant. The parking lot was sparse at that hour, so parking wasn't a problem. We were immediately escorted to our table after making our way to the host station. There were still several tables occupied, which made me feel less guilty about our arrival time. Drinks were promptly brought to our table and then we placed our order. Now comes to the one-star deduction explanation. By my phone, at least 30 minutes went by before I asked our server if our food was coming out or did we need to go elsewhere. Up until this time, our server hid in the kitchen. While he appeared geniunely polite, I think he was honestly afraid to ask the kitchen crew what was taking so long. Our server's supervisor came out and apologized for the delay explaining that our order had been lost (our server later told us the order printer ran out of paper and no one seemed to notice). In an effort to make it up to us, the supervisor stated he would take off the priciest meal on our ticket. Within a few minutes, our order did come out and thankfully the food was delicious, which actually was this restaurant's saving grace. I don't normally travel through this area unless headed to the Charlotte airport, so it's unlikely I'll stop again at this CB location. My recommendation though would be to come during busier times of the day when the staff seemed to be more "on point." read more

Ambiance was so comforting and nostalgic- exactly the same as it's looked for decades at every Cracker Barrel location! Service was good. Hostess was friendly, server was attentive, cashier at the end was super bubbly and nice. My husband was craving breakfast and loved the chance to have some breakfast food at lunchtime. I got the veggie plate and loved the carrots! The broccoli was a little sad. The fried apples were delicious. The Mac and cheese was fine. Love how we got a basket of biscuits too! Happy people!!! Everyone was so accommodating. The food was very good. I got the breakfast with 3 meats and I chose the country ham as one of them and got grits as my side. It was delicious. The pancakes were huge!! My boyfriend got steak and eggs. His steak was a full size thick ribeye and it was wonderful ! Our server was awesome. To top it off , I was surprised to see that they serve alcohol so I indulged in a Bloody Mary. On our way out we got lots of candy. It was a great experience! read more

The service was friendly, however do not order anything Cajun or Louisiana. They add way to much seasoning and everything ends up tasting like you had a mouthful of salt. My wife and I stopped here for lunch with our young granddaughter on a Saturday afternoon. Like so many places, it appeared they were a bit shorthanded because some seating areas had no servers. I don't in any way hold that against them, though. #Bummer. We asked for a table by the windows and received one (thank you, hostess). One of the things I'm always looking for is dirty floors, especially in corners or along the edge of the walls. Cracker Barrel gets an A+ here for cleanliness. Our table was clean as well. Keep it up! I ordered the Cheesy Bacon Homestyle Chicken since there was a giant picture of it on the menu and it looked good. We also got some sliders and fries for our granddaughter. My wife got the chicken fried steak but I'll let her review that . Tracy, our waitress, was very prompt with everything. She gave our granddaughter a kid's paper menu/drawing thing and some crayons so she was happy while we waited for our food. So far, so good. Our food was served promptly. Mine and my wife's food was nice and hot, and our granddaughter's food was cooler. Again, perfect. But, then we hit a speed bump. The breading on my chicken was not good. I can only describe it as once-crispy but left out and then nuked so it's now chewy. Know what I mean? It was bad, which was a shame because the carrots I got for a side were great. I requested the manager and the waitress Tracy together. I explained the issue with the breading (nicely, I'm not a Karen) and the manager immediately offered to replace it with anything I wanted. Great! Then, and the reason I wanted the manager, was so my wife and I could tell her although there was a problem with my meal, Tracy was awesome. People always hear the bad, but they need to hear the good as well. I got roast beef as my replacement along with a side of fried apples and mashed potatoes with gravy. All three were great and there was nothing left by the time I was done. Well, my lovely wife absconded with my apples so I only got a few of them. Our granddaughter got some, too, and she loved them as well. At the cash register, we had to wait for the cashier to come over. I was standing there for a bit, but it turned out he was just a few feet away talking to the host. When I stood right up at the counter, instead of like 3 feet back where I had been standing as I looked around for someone to help, he walked over. He could use some training to understand when people are standing in front of the cash register with their stuff and maybe ask them if they are ready to check out. Don't make them literally touch the counter before you walk over to help them. All in all, I'm giving four stars. Tracy, though, gets 10 stars! read more

Placed a large to go order and while it took over 30 minutes beyond the estimated pick up window the order was correct and everyone seemed satisfied with the order. Last night's visit was the third time. We have been to this location and had subpar food and service. But last night was the worst . My husband's mashed potatoes were so cold. They didn't even melt butter. Our waiter took our order and then just kind of vanished. We didn 't see him again until another person brought our food to the table, minus our carrots. And after she found out what we wanted as a substitution for our carrots. He pops in, oh, by the way, we're out of carrots. We had to ask him for refills. On our drinks and even though he was told multiple times my husband had half-and-half I had sweet tea. He gave my husband all sweet tea and tried to give me half-and-half when I corrected him. When he went to fill my cup with sweet tea, he poured it on the table on my plate on my food on my arm. And never even apologized, this wasn't his first day I asked, I don't think we will be returning to this location again. 3 strikes, you're out, but on a side note. The manager was extremely nice and apologetic. I didn't think I would have a back to back visit to different Cracker Barrel restaurants. This one is located in Salisbury and actually was a social meeting visit. Seating and drinks were quick and efficient. Orders were taken and I returned with the Country Steak with eggs, the hash casserole, with coffee. Biscuits were brought out with our meal and the steak was fantastic. Coffees were refilled and getting the server to bring the check along with a takeout box was relatively easy since she was constantly checking on our progress. Dishes were even taken away before the check arrived. I had no complaints at all and would return back, if in the area again. read more

Cracker Barrel's our favorite place to go to whenever we want home style southern cooking. Eating and shopping are my thing. What can be more perfect than Cracker Barrel! I always ended up having my belly full and a bag of something. During this trip, I bought a pair of girl's sunglasses and a toy for my granddaughter. My husband, our granddaughter and I came I came in at around 5 pm, so there's no wait and we're seated upon arrival. Immediately after seating, our waitress approached us with a smile and got our drinks order. She's friendly and very attentive. I ordered my usual Chicken Fried Steak, green beans and turnip greens. Yummy! My husband ordered the Cheesy Bacon Homestyle Fried Chicken. He didn't like it. He said the breading was chewy. The manager asked him if he wants to order something else and ordered Roast Beef which was tasty and tender. We shared peach cobbler and asked for additional scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfection! After this I am actually proud of the homemade food we make for our dogs. Usually when we don't eat all our food we take a doggy bag but I would never take something like this home. I normally would love this place but when you get seated (party of 3) and people come in and sit after you, are fed before you and are finished before you have your order then I believe something is off. No special order at our table...all French toast which is a staple on the menu. The wrong food was delivered (sausage instead of bacon) and the waitress said the kitchen wanted the sausage back before they would let her bring the correct order of bacon. The kitchen wanted food back before it would make the order correct???? WHAT???!!!! One side of French toast was delivered without the strawberry side and one order of French toast came about 8 minutes later than the other 2 orders! Visited Salisbury location to place a pick up order for the family dinner. Spoke to four different Cracker Barrel employees who were not occupied at the time in an attempt to place an order. Although they were not busy at the time each of them passed me off to someone else. Evidently there is a server somewhere who takes the To Go orders. After a 10 minute wait I asked for the manager which was a useless and futile effort. Once they located her in the office she made her way out. Still no server. Manager was totally unconcerned. In no way rude. Heck I would have appreciated rude more than cold uncaring tone. I'm very forgiving of establishments that are understaffed as they are trying. This was not the case here. Breakfast on the road, why not stop at the Cracker Barrel? I really can't complain - it's inexpensive, they are good at what it is and it's easy to get right back onto the highway. I don't know of a single CB that I've visited that wasn't really all of those things. I had the Uncle Hershel with two eggs over well, the hash brown casserole and a pork chop. This place is wonderful! My husband and I are traveling in an RV and they allowed us to park for the night. The restaurant was clean and the staff was beyond helpful and polite. My husband and I dined before 4:00 p.m., our waitress, Jennifer, seemed to be in a hurry to get us out. I ordered the Wednesday special. The waitress said she hadn't served any that day and went to the kitchen to see if they had it!!! They didn't have the sugar plum mimosa that I wanted but they had the Wednesday special. However, when our food came out I received the to-go order that I was going to get instead of what I had ordered for dining. We had only 3 forks in our basket, and used the forks to stir the coffee. I didn't complain about having the wrong order to eat, but it was hard to eat the maple bacon grilled chicken with just a fork. I asked three times for a knife and never received one. Jennifer gave my husband a coffee refill and said that was the end of the pot. My cup was empty, and I did not get a refill from her. Shortly, she said she had leave, but gave no reference as to whom would finish waiting on us! She did come back to ask if we were through with the salt and pepper because she had to refill them. We told her they were full enough. Then, she proceeded to sweep around us--told me not to move and brushed my husband's foot with the broom. Later, a waiter named Jordan came by and got me a knife and coffee and was very accommodating. We left him the bigger portion of the tip! When we were leaving, we noticed that the young mother and her young son seated across from us, had been there quite awhile, and hadn't been waited on. I realize it's the holiday season, and good help is hard to come by. Every person with whom we dealt was a "Rising Star" and had earned no actual stars. Right now after only phase 1, you cannot order eggs in a basket, turkey sausage, The Old Timers Breakfast, and more. Things like Oatmeal have been gone since COVID. It was a pickup cratering order, with that we didn't get all of our order. What we did get was absolutely terrible. This was supposed to be Christmas dinner and we threw it away. I know I should have checked it before leaving the store. However waiter loaded it in car and it was in bags that were tied and already leaking in the bag. Missing part if meal was not the worse of it!! The chicken and dumplings, well it was just dumplings. Not any chicken!! Mashed potatoes tasted very earthy, basically dirt. Corn was ok. Roast beef had a weird taste as did the geavy. Even the loaf of sour dough bread tasted like vinegar!! So $148 dollars in the trash!! Well... I don't know what to say except I'm done with this Cracker Barrel, maybe all of them. We had a simple mistake turn into a full fledge shaming put on us by the manager. They put the wrong sauce on a menu item. No big deal. We were just going to scrape it off, but the server talked us in to sending it back. We did, and everything was fine except they did not put the sides back on. We still didn't say anything about it. Chalked it up & moved on. When my wife was paying she said everything was fine except what happened. The manager came out and wanted to talk about it. The manager then proceeded to lecture us about how it was our fault the sides got left off because we returned the plate.
