Cheeseburger and hotdog all the way
    Bill T.

Was very pleasantly surprised by the food. Was really good. Coleslaw was great, dogs and burgers are amazing. The chili was great. The restaurant is old and was actually quite charming. One or two spots could use a touch of paint. Service was awesome. People there are so nice and helpful!!

You cannot go wrong when you head to this hole in the wall hotdog joint. The food options are plenty, the service is fast and friendly, and the taste brings back memories of hanging out by the pool as a child. The only complaint is the hours - lunchtime during the week eliminates the number of visits we can make here, but it's always worth the wait to go again

I have always heard about the Dog House and finally today I tried it for lunch. I sat at the counter and it reminded me of an old school lunch joint. The atomsphere was great with a medium noise level. I was immediately greeted and drink order was taken. I ordered a double cheese burger with bacon and fries. The food came out quick and the burger was great but the fries were a tad on the cold side. Still a great place for lunch in High Point.

It's exactly what the doctor ordered! Miss Sue is a staple in the community that you need when you walk in the door her 30 plus years. Blake is a sweetie pie and took really good care of us! Matt checked in every chance he could and even upsold us on snickerdoodle cookies! We had all beef loaded hot dogs with fries and I had to go back for round 2 BLT and my husband had the hot ham and cheese. The music and community representation made it feel so nostalgic loved the vibes! The prices are such a treat in a world that makes it impossible sometimes to just go out to eat!!!!!!!

This historic luncheonette has been serving delicious food for over 50 years, and the staff feels like family. I loved the all-the-way hot dog with onions, mustard, and chili, along with their bologna cheese sandwich and cheeseburger--everything was fantastic! The place is really nice and cozy.

Okay okay okay I get the hype now. The dog house is everything and more. First, I love that it hasn't been updated. I love the booths, the menu, the way it still looks like an old school diner. Second, the food is delicious. I love a good hot dog and this one was no different. I got mine with a side of pickles because why not. I hear the fries are some of the best!

The food is simple and hits the spot. It has quick and easy service and is very affordable. The place has a nice atmosphere. I have been three times now and every time I walk out with a smile. Definitely recommend for a quick bite to eat.

Friendly staff and unique character in this small old diner. Food came out within 1-2 minutes and the staff came around multiple times to check on me. Couldn't decide between a burger or dog so got both and they were both were delicious. Brings me back to visiting small diners as a child. Would recommend.

This is certainly an out of the way place in the ritzy part of High Point (as judged by the buildings and businesses in the vicinity). You'll need your GPS or will drive right by it. There's street parking on Saturdays but most use the lot behind the building. The front entrance is mainly for take out but after that it's a small straight place with counter service on one side and booths on the other. You can see immediately why they don't want solo diners taking up precious booth space. The staff is friendly and the noise level what you'd expect. I did like the varied options they had for toppings and went with the beef dogs: one all the way (mustard chili onions) and the other with grilled sauerkraut. No forks in sight, all finger food. Both dogs were delicious though the chili wasn't anything that would make you go yummmm. And I like a good decadent chili dog. The fries were hot and crispy. And they do a good job of refilling your drink. Food wise, I'd go back but price wise, with the up charge for the beef dog and extra for the kraut, the price was steeper than what I'd consider reasonable for a hot dog meal ($15). Add in tip and that rivals many restaurant meals elsewhere. But then, I've never understood how hot dogs can be almost as expensive as hamburgers when you go out. Anyway, it was on my places to try. Done and now on to others.

Eating at The Dog House was pretty nostalgic for me. It reminded me of eating at the drugstore counter in my hometown when I was a little girl. It has a real small town look and feel. The food came out good and hot in like 5 minutes and the service was good as well.

A High Point institution in the truest sense of the word. If you grew up in High Point, you have been here for hot dogs and burgers. Periodt. Nowadays, if you even know where this place is (despite being located on the busiest street in town) you probably also grew up here, just because of how rapidly the area around it is changing. I hope it continues to be there, because it's as much a part of High Point history as anything. All that said, it had been many years since I stopped in here for a hot dog. Lately I have been on a kick to go back and revisit all the places that I have some nostalgia for, to see how they are holding up. There has been better than I remember, worse, and then places like this that haven't changed at all (besides the prices, of course). You can still count on this place for a no frills, classic, speedy hot dog experience. Be REALLY careful when you order, as they have a different definition of "All the Way" than the entire rest of the state of North Carolina. If you want slaw with your chili, onions, mustard.... you actually want LOADED. This is confusing honestly, as I have literally never been anywhere in this state where All the Way didn't mean the same thing. The hot dog itself is good, tastes the same as I remember. Quality frank with a thin but OK chili and good slaw. The fries are also the kind I really enjoy, crispy, a slight battering on the outside. Things could get kicked up a notch with a buttered and grilled bun, which once you go that direction, it's hard to enjoy a plain bread hot dog again (Thanks PB's and Dairi-O). All this happens fast, and reasonably priced. Overall, it doesn't crack my top 5 hot dogs in the Triad, but if I were working near downtown, I certainly would consider it a regular spot for speed and convenience. Cheers to the Dog House!

Another good one! The Dog House on North Main in High Point has been serving up hot dogs and burgers from the same location since 1942! Chili and slaw are housemade daily. Buns are fresh and soft. Slaw has touch of sweetness. Onions are fresh and crunchy. Chili could be meatier, but has good flavor. A LOADED dog has slaw, mustard, chili, and onions. They're a bit messy. As I have said about others, a toasted bun would mage this good dog great. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It can be a little hard to spot (small sign), but your GPS will take you right there. They say the burgers are great, too.

I have lived in High Point since 2006 and it was just NOW that I stopped into a High Point institution, The Dog House! It's been in business for over 50 years. A small lunch spot with limited seating, The Dog House delivers a quick and tasty meal. You have 3 ways to order your dogs, LOADED - mustard, slaw, chili and onion, SLAW - mustard, slaw and chili, or ALL THE WAY - mustard, onion and chili. Don't get me wrong, there are PLENTY of OTHER options at The Dog House, but ya gotta have some dogs on the first visit! Service was speedy even during the launch rush. Don't expect a fancy plate or anything, you will have those dogs brought to you on a piece of deli paper. The staff is friendly and ready to serve.

This was my first trip to Damn Good Burgers and Dogs though I've been following them on Instagram…read morefor a while. They've got a great spot in the Stock + Grain food hall at the Rocker's Stadium. Plenty of seating, easy parking; definitely a great way to transition from food truck to brick and mortar. Some of the other stalls were appealing, but we were there for hot dogs. My buddy and I each ordered a Carolina Dog (mine with no onions). He got their Damn Good Fries and I got regular fries and we each got canned sodas. Our total was $27.24 with tip. It was late afternoon so I could tell our food was being made fresh which is always a plus. Everything came out hot (though I did have to remind them about the regular fry which was delivered promptly). The hot dogs had a great toasted bun and the chili or the slaw (or both) had a subtle sweetness to it. With that sweetness, I could have used a little more mustard, but that's a little critique. The regular fries were good: crispy and well-seasoned with salt and pepper. The Damn Good Fries were loaded and, as my friend said, "had a lot going on." They are loaded with warm cheese sauce, sweet onion sauce, ketchup, and their damn good sauce. When I tasted them it was hard to tell everything apart but it was still a tasty bite. Service was ok. I wouldn't wave about it but they got the job done. I'd definitely return to Damn Good Burgers and Dogs to try more of their food, especially those burgers.

That is awesome because you can sit out of the restaurants sight, but you will be aware when your order is ready. I ordered the Carolina hotdog with fries combo. Drinks are sold separately. The hotdog had great flavor. It wasn't messy and I actually liked that. The bun was very soft. It almost melts in your mouth. It also had a very tasty flavor. They made a great choice! The fries were not hot. Not sure why. They were in pieces...like the bottom of a bag. I wish they were longer to dip in the sauce. They had a good flavor, but I think with a little tweaking they could be excellent. Maybe I got a bad batch? Not sure, but it won't deter me from trying them again. I snuck a taste of their special sauce from my friend's meal. It was good! I would like to try it on one of their vegan burgers. This is located in Stock and Grain so there is plenty of indoor and outside seating. You also have the option to get it to go. Can't wait to try this again!

I recently started seeing a lot adds on social media for their new smash burger tacos, so one weekend I was feeling lazy and needing some lunch I decided to go give it a try. There was a bit of line when we arrived, but the cashier kept the line moving quickly. I ordered (2) of the tacos, and some fries to go. Apparently, they had a promo going that weekend with their app, that you'd also get ANY size, free custard made to your liking. The order came out pretty quickly, didn't have to wait long at all. Got home, unpacked everything on a plate, and enjoyed my tasty lunch. The tacos were great, basically just a soft shell taco with a single smash burger in each, cheese, a little lettuce and fry sauce. Probably could add some other toppings, like tomatoes, but overall they were really good. Their fries are also great, but very thin, so you kind of need to grab a few at a time. There fry sauce those is what makes the fries even better. Must try! The custard was also great, i got one mixed with oreo, one of my favorites! The restaurant itself isn't too large, but decently clean. The interior is one large open space with a lot of hard surfaces though, so it can get noisy in there as it fills up. Overall, a tasty option from time to time. Would recommend if you like smash burgers though they do also have hot dogs, and the custard is delicious. Go check them out if you haven't already

Daughter devoured her dbl steakburger. Love the thin, crispy fries and crispy tot sides. Have the option for ketchup or choice of 3 flavors of fry sauce. Friendly staff, prompt service, hot food. Smart move on their part by sending the most adorable teenage boy with perfect puppy dog eyes to humbly hand us our bag as he kept saying how sorry he was. Who could be mad at him? Not me. We had ordered on their app as we were passing through the area and they were very busy so I get how a mix up could occur. The 5 stars happened because even though we sat for 20 minutes, our food did not. It was hot and it was fresh. Other places could take note of this and maybe step up their game a bit or A LOT.... I'm not saying any names but their initials being with Whataburger... Anyway, I digress. We both got the same thing. The double burger with chili, slaw, mustard, onions, and pickles. While not necessarily the best choice for a road trip lunch driving down the interstate, it's hard to be salty about something so delicious. Messy? Yes. But it was a glorious mess!! You gotta love a place that not only allows you to completely customize your food, but allows it for relatively no extra charge except on the big ticket items like bacon or extra cheese. And they don't skimp either... which again made for a messy drive but well worth the laundry I had to do as soon as our 7 hour drive was over. The two patties were perfectly done, the buns were fresh and they were very, very liberal with the included toppings. This thing was stacked with a wonderful, meaty chili, cool, crisp slaw, crunchy pickles, and rounded out with fresh onions that added a terrific contrast to the chili and slaw. And the toppings were spread through out the sandwich so that every bite delivered on flavor. They were also generous with the napkins, which is rare these days and very, very much appreciated. The fries were good although I'm not a big fan of the crinkle variety... that said, I do appreciate that you have the option in the app to get them extra crispy. That made for a much better experience. Though they're not my favorite type of fries, these were well cooked, soft on the inside without being mealy like most crinkles are; while having a nice crispy exterior. If I have to have crinkle cut fries, I'd prefer Dairi-O's. I also tried their tzatziki sauce because I love that as a dipping sauce for fries and it was pretty spot on. At first, when I saw it on the menu, my thought was, "what does a burger joint really know about tzatziki sauce?" Turns out, a lot. It was creamy, tangy, with just the right amount of fresh cucumber and dill. Over all, as far as I'm concerned, it's a solid fast food choice that feels less like fast food and more like eating a perfect burger from your backyard grill. We both enjoyed it very much and will be back.

So many places throw on one or two extra and call it a day, but this was a legit pickle situation. The crinkle-cut fries were seasoned and really good, the milkshake was decent, and the burger was solid overall. Nothing fancy, just classic fast-food comfort done well. For two double combos and a chocolate shake, it was $29 and some change, which felt pretty reasonable. I'd definitely grab it again if I'm in that area. Perfect post-disc golf fuel.
