Slim Chickens is a fun new fried chicken joint in Stetson that we've been excited about for a while now...unfortunately our experience left much to be desired. The drive thru was efficient and everyone was very nice, so that went smoothly. The restaurant itself is clean, fresh, new, and a decent place to eat in for fast food. We ordered their signature chicken strips meal with multiple sauces. The food came up fairly quickly and we drove home to dig right in! The portions are average and the prices somewhat reasonable which is a nice change from recent fast food price hikes. The disappointment came when we tasted our meals and found lack of flavor, soggy fries, and nothing special about Slim Chickens...I guess that's why they push the sauces. Popeyes and chik fil a have great spice and flavor and we were anticipating the same here, but sadly it's just mediocre. They do offer appetizers which we also indulged in with some fried okra and that was super soggy and not very good. Our experience was a bummer, especially since we were hoping for a new place in the neighborhood to grab a good bite.

What I got :(

If you want an extra salty, overpriced "slim" chicken sandwich that will give you a stomach ache come here but if you want a "huge" chicken sandwich find a different chicken place to eat. My fav chicken spot "which is closed Sunday" hint hint has nearly twice the size of a chicken breast in their sandwiches for literally half the price with no bonus stomach ache. Had a stomach ache the moment I drove away, my wife only ate half of her chicken sandwich. Waste of 25$ and got a bonus stomach ache. I might sound very salty which I am but only because I felt like a was eating spoonfuls of salt with every bite of the chicken sandwich. "Slim" star review!

Service and food were great! I tried the tenders with the Korean BBQ sauce and the garlic parm sauce. Korean BQ sauce was good just a little bit of heat. The garlic parm was served cold probably better warmed. The Mac n cheese was lackluster no real taste . The tenders were amazing! The wrap was delicious !

Slim's Meal sub Fried Mushrooms

Food is always fresh and of high quality. Usually I sub the mushrooms instead of fry's. This last time the amount of mushrooms I got was minimal and not what they usually serve. I asked the night manager why that was and he explained but quickly offered to rectify the situation. Amazing customer service. Side note to slim chicken corporate, if you up charging on a product you should serve an amount that aligned with the price. Store is always clean, staff is always friendly and overall it's a get place. 10/10

Chicken sandwich

Boy it was neat! Me and my cousins admired the servers courage! When I walked in I was greeted by farm fresh smells and smiles. After ordering I saw my favorite part of the restaurant! Paper towels! Rather than following the silly social norm that napkins are ideal for meal time hygiene they push boundaries and take leaps in meal time cleanup. The serves were even quick to help when my silly and rambunctious adult cousin was mistakenly given a fountain drink. Know as meal time spill McGee she spilled aproxamitly 24oz of pebble ice and Diet Dr.Pepper ™. The food was above adequate, the wide selections of foods and sauces far exceeded my expectations tickling my fancy for some delicious chicken. I would say the chicken strips were some of the best I've had in my days. We'll complement by perfectly crunchy fry's. Although the Texas toast lacked the girth and fluff I expect from a chicken restaurant this was compensated by their delectable slim sauce. Over all I was pleasantly pleasured and would come again!

Is it me or are fast casual chicken spots popping up everywhere? Ordered a chicken sandwich to go, wait was a little longer than expected. The chicken sandwich was noticeably smaller than chick fil a, bird call, and others. Taste was decent overall.

Heard great things about Slim Chickens so decided to try it out for lunch. The restaurant was clean and had nice sitting area. We ordered the cayenne chicken sandwiches, fried okra, pickles, and a drink. Most combo meals came to $15 per meal. The sandwiches were "ok", brioche bun was semi cold. The chicken was well seasoned but the cayenne sauce seemed bit salty. My friend enjoyed her okra. The fried pickles were lightly battered however it was salty. You can choose a sauce with the pickles so I picked ranch. It didn't have much flavor to it. Staff were nice and friendly. There was a worker who checked on each diner to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Overall it was decent with good service.

So I am a huge fan of Canes chicken but with this new spot . I'm hooked it has a whole lot less breading on the tenders . And u have the option of getting all chicken tenders or side by side with buffalo wings . And they also with fries , bread , your drink and sauces . What a combination ... oh did I mention they have white gravy . That just made it 100 times better . Plus it's close to home and they have patience to help you out . Been here twice and going tonight as well . Thanks for slim chicken heaven !!!!

Unfortunately I have to say I'm a little disappointed and I really really wanted to love this place since it's a new local spot close to the house. I'm going to give a little credit, it's only been open a short period of time and it's definitely chaos. However, had to ask four different employees what their signature slim sauce tasted like. I definitely feel that that should be something everyone taste, especially if it's a signature item. I waited for about a total of 20 minutes just to get a receipt which I never actually got because for some reason the machine had no record of my order. The worst part about that is that 10 minutes of it was while they already had my food. So by the time I got my food home it was not as hot as it could be. The ordering process was a little hard. The girl that took her order didn't seem to really know a lot. She had no idea what the gravy was or how to describe it. We asked her to upgrade our fry side to a a fried pickles and she just gave us an entire order of fried pickles. She just seemed very confused and not well prepared for the rush that they were having. The food itself is okay. Like I said, unfortunately it probably wasn't as warm as we could have had it, but the chicken itself seemed to be a bit dry. The fries were okay. Nothing special. The pickles again probably would have been better had they not sat but we're definitely salty. Comparing it to another place like Canes or Chick-fil-A, we will give it a few months and give it another shot. It wasn't terrible. It just was not what we hoped it would be. I wish them the best of luck and hope to see more things open in our area.

The line in the drive thru wasn't too bad for it being day two.

The free cayenne chicken sandwich ( which I got by signing up for the app) was delicious and I like the kind of lettuce they use.

We ended up parking a fair distance away. There was not room for us (6) indoors.... I'll know next time to reserve a table. The patio was dirty, bird dropping all over the railings and floors. It felt like lunchroom aftermath. I would have really appreciated a cushion on the mesh metal chairs. Being outside led to slow and forgotten service. There were some timing problems with our drinks and appetizers (forgotten). Then they showed up about two minutes before the salads and entrees. Our server took full responsibility and that was awesome. It seems like a great place... just a few tweaks will take it up a notch. String some lights , put some paraphernalia on the tables. Maybe even some bread.

I have mentioned it nicely to an employee before, but they just look stressed, shrug their shoulders, and walk away. It's not for nothing that many of us pine for the old days of Paradise Bakery, an experience that was truly gutted by Panera's ownership. They've slowly but surely placed profits over quality and cleanliness. It's a shame because Panera could be awesome. They need to hire more people and train them properly. If you must go to Panera, I suggest the location at Paradise Valley on Cactus. Lupe (she's amazing) still works there and can make you a lovely breakfast sandwich. At least that location makes more of an effort to stay clean and attractive. Or you might try the 7th st. location in the Target shopping center. That one is bigger and more established (also was a Paradise Bakery), so you should have a better experience. And they wear gloves at these locations. At Norterra? I often see people in the bread area gloveless. Norterra is a hard pass for me on cleanliness of the place and the food handling. They need to do better.

To give credit where it's due, the ambience of the restaurant was great. The live music was enjoyable and the dancing created a fun atmosphere. The women's restroom was also impressive -- clean, well stocked, and the mirror with the neon sign made for a great photo moment. Unfortunately, the service and food did not live up to the setting. Our waitress appeared overwhelmed and, at times, came across as outright rude. I understand the pressures of working in a busy restaurant, but hospitality is still the foundation of the service industry. I actually found myself going out of my way to "kill her with kindness" just to avoid receiving the same snarky tone she used with some of my friends. It worked -- she was civil with me -- but it shouldn't take that level of effort from guests. The food was where things really fell apart. The buffet setup was poorly executed. The foil buffet pans repeatedly slipped into the chafing water, which ended up soaking the food. Any experienced food service professional knows the proper way to handle this: bring the replacement pan first and swap them out simultaneously. Instead, the staff removed the empty pans and walked back to the kitchen, leaving empty slots in the buffet while guests waited. As a result, several dishes were compromised. The mac and cheese was completely runny, clearly diluted from water getting into the pan. This happened to multiple items. The fried pickles were also a miss -- not crispy, extremely salty and sour, and tasted like low-quality hamburger dill pickle chips that had been breaded and fried. No one at our table enjoyed them and several people commented that they were far too tangy. There also seemed to be serious communication issues between the kitchen and the floor staff. Buffet items were frequently empty and slow to be replaced. The "salad," if you could call it that, was essentially a bowl of lettuce with no tomatoes, cucumbers, or vegetables -- just plain greens. Toward the end of service, the restaurant even ran out of dinner plates, leaving remaining guests to use small salad plates. The only items I somewhat enjoyed were the margarita pizza flatbread and the bacon jalapeño wontons, which were decent but nothing memorable. Beyond that, my meal consisted mostly of a bowl of very uninspired lettuce. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, it genuinely pains me to leave such a critical review. I don't write this out of spite, but out of hope that management sees it as an opportunity to evaluate what's happening on the floor and in the kitchen. There is clearly potential here given the atmosphere and entertainment. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I don't see myself returning anytime soon.
