I am submitting a formal complaint regarding my experience at the KFC located at 3550 W Thunderbird…read moreRd, Phoenix, AZ 85053, on September 15, 2026. My order was #754683671.
I placed this order through the KFC app specifically for "convenience." The order was five chicken nuggets, Comeback Sauce, and a Hot Ranch Big Dip. The subtotal was $1.49, tax was $0.13, and the total was $1.62.
I arrived after placing the order, parked, walked inside, and deliberately gave the restaurant ample additional time to prepare it. When I entered, I was literally the only customer there aside from one other person.
I walked to the counter and was ignored for approximately five minutes. Eventually, an employee acknowledged me and asked for my order number/name. I provided it. I was then told that my order was "being made."
I accepted that answer and continued waiting. Instead of immediately escalating the situation, I gave the restaurant additional time to fulfill the order.
The wait continued.
What should have been a very short transaction became approximately 20-30 minutes of waiting for FIVE NUGGETS.
The situation became even more difficult to understand when a whole slew of DoorDash drivers arrived after I had already been waiting. I watched substantially larger orders get completed and handed out to them before mine. I watched two full orders leave the restaurant ahead of mine. Other people who arrived after me received their orders and left while I was still standing there waiting for five tiny pieces of chicken.
That is the central issue.
I had already placed my order through KFC's own app. I had arrived, parked, walked inside, approached the counter, waited to be acknowledged, provided my order information, and been told that my food was being made. Meanwhile, people who arrived after me were receiving substantially larger orders and leaving.
HOW does a five-piece nugget order remain outstanding while later-arriving orders are completed first?
I understand that restaurants can experience delays. What I do not understand is why a tiny order was apparently left outstanding while later orders were fulfilled, particularly after I had already asked about my order and was told it was being made.
If there was a legitimate reason for the delay, someone should have told me. If the kitchen was backed up, my order had been overlooked, or there was an issue with the app or kitchen system, I should have been informed.
Instead, I was left standing there while other orders continued going out.
The KFC app is supposed to provide "convenience." In this case, the supposed convenience became the opposite. I used the app specifically to save time and make the transaction more efficient. I gave the restaurant additional time after arriving, yet still spent approximately 20-30 minutes waiting inside.
I have one life. My time is finite and valuable. The fact that my order cost only $1.62 does not make my time worth $1.62. A customer's time does not become less valuable because the customer ordered a small meal.
I ultimately ate the five nuggets in approximately 30 seconds. The fact that I spent roughly 20-30 minutes waiting for food that took about 30 seconds to consume makes the situation even more unreasonable.
I want KFC to investigate Order #754683671 using the actual order and operational records.
Please determine:
1. When was the mobile order received by the restaurant?
2. When was it entered into the kitchen workflow?
3. Why was I ignored for approximately five minutes after approaching the counter?
4. Why was I told the order was "being made" when I subsequently waited another 20-30 minutes?
5. Why were later-arriving customers and DoorDash drivers receiving substantially larger orders before mine?
6. Was my order overlooked, misplaced, deprioritized, or affected by a staffing, equipment, inventory, point-of-sale, kitchen, or order-routing issue?
7. What corrective action will be taken at this location?
Please review the electronic records rather than relying solely on employee recollection. The order number, app transaction, kitchen workflow, and completion record should establish what happened.
Please do not respond with a canned apology or generic statement about customer satisfaction. I am asking for an explanation of a specific transaction with a specific order number, location, date, and completion time.
Order #754683671
September 15, 2026
KFC - 3550 W Thunderbird Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85053
5 pc. Nuggets + sauces
Total: $1.62
Completed: 7:27 PM
Five nuggets should not become a 20-30 minute ordeal in a restaurant where customers arriving later are receiving substantially larger orders.
My time matters. I expect this complaint to be taken seriously, investigated using the available order records, and escalated to the appropriate management and franchise leadership.
I expect an explanation of what happened--not a template response.
