Fast food chicken restaurants with the best salad. The big franchises or the independent locals? Who has it, the best? I start this quest with a strong bias towards Slim Chickens in Broken Arrow. I have tried it several years ago and I was impressed. Proceeding with a redo of the fast-food chicken restaurant outlets. The competitors are as follows: Slim Chickens, Chick-fil A, Waldo's, Zaxby's, Red Light Chicken, Chicken and the Wolf, and Charlies Chicken. Slim Chickens is a strong competitor. It has a big salad. Loaded with chicken, vegies and a bonus of onion rings. They have more varieties of dressing than a pack of Crayola crayons has colors. A five-star Slim's Salad today. This is going to be hard to beat. The chicken is good. Not the best in the industry, but good. Of the franchises, I prefer Raising Cane's chicken. Unfortunately, they are not in the competition, because they do not offer a salad. That's a good thing, sticking to the what they do best. Slim Chickens restaurant in Broken Arrow is clean. The service is outstanding for a fast-food franchise. One of the very best in service. Now there is something else. Nothing to do with the salad. The fried pickles. A heaping basket of greasy, crisp, crunchy, salty, spicey, vinegary, thin sliced pickles, with a perfect fried flour and corn meal coating. Dipping sauce NOT needed! The food is usually pretty good but when you push a product and the customer orders it, you should give them what they ordered. Went through the drive through and got the 10 piece meal, waited for a while in the drive through and get up to the window to pay and all my food is ready before I paid. I get home and I have 5 nuggets and cut up chicken tender. I would have happily changed my order to what you actually had in store but changing my order and not telling me is ridiculous. read more

as i came to get something to eat here, i realized that not only have i been here before, but that i also got the same thing i did last time. what i got (both times) was the cayenne ranch chicken sandwich & it got the job done. plenty of chicken to go along with of ranch & fried onions. i got the combo & i started with the fries. the fries were good, not salty. they have tons of sauces to choose from, i decided to let the the fries be this time around, i plan on trying out their sauces (15 sauces to be exact... they have wings & tenders for that as well). back to the sandwich, just like the previous visit, it's something i'd get again & again. very impressive sized chicken breast for the sandwich, you get plenty. the cayenne ranch mayo was a good touch & didn't lay it on heavy. if you download the slijm chickens app & create a profile, you'll get a free cayenne chicken sandwich so there goes my third time having it in the near future. i got a lemonade to drink which was more tangy/sour than sweet, not in a bad way. one thing i do remember one thing slim chickens originally catching my eyes with was their jar desserts, which i've yet to try & would like to asap! they also have milkshakes, which they now have a cinnamon toast crunch one that's for a limited time only. with that being my favorite cereal, i have an excuse to go back very soon to check it out. read more

Slim chickens is a convenient stop in Broken Arrow for a quick meal. I like the sides/sauces best. Chicken is good, but other chicken spots have superior tenders in my opinion. I love the fried pickles though! And the buffalo Mac n cheese is unique to the chicken joint choices, and it's delicious. Staff have always been nice. The chicken tender mac bowl was the perfect comfort food dish I needed on a cold night! I loved how nice the staff was, letting us know which items could be grilled chicken instead of fried to accommodate to our diets. I thought the price was very reasonable for the portions, and the restaurant was very clean and modern inside. read more

Had to make a pit stop here with the kiddos... we absolutely munched on some tenders after the lunch rush. It is busy here constantly considering it's in a great location. It's a pretty good size restaurant to accommodate your family of littles, I only had my two. I recommend some other things they offer like a side salad and the potato salad if fries and slaw aren't your thing. They offer wings, chicken sandwiches, and chicken and waffles. Great chicken tenders and such. Not necessarily better than chic fila or Zaxby's but definitely equally as good. Big portions on the tender meals. The sandwich was great but portion size was smaller. The cayenne ranch was great as a sauce. Really liked the ranch and their slimm sauce too. The jar desserts were fantastic. Tried the pumpkin cheesecake and the chocolate . Both were great. If I lived close by I would be here too often. Great fast food chicken! *only thing I didn't love was the mac and cheese. Others at the table loved it- personal preference i guess. read more

Horrible service. Everytime I go everyone is rude, cuts me off, or ignores what I say half the time. I went today to get a classic meal and was telling him what sauces I wanted and he cut me off and asked what drink I wanted. I assumed he maybe didn't hear me telling him more sauces than one, so I told him what I'd like to drink. I eat here often but normally get a wrap with Buffalo sauce on the chicken. This weekend I decided to try something new. I got the chicken and waffle. I don't normally eat their chicken plain, and don't plan to again. It has no flavor. I was surprised at the lack of flavor on the breading. The waffle was ok- a bit soggy. We had to wait on my sons sandwich to be cooked and my waffle was on the bottom of the bag so I think it sitting for so long in the bag made it soggy. My husbands fries were also soggy for the same reason. I would recommend to the business that if waiting on an item to cook, not to pack up the other items until it is ready so that food doesn't sit and get soggy from condensation. Finally gave this place a try. It's kind of a mix of Raising Canes and Buffalo Wild Wings. They definitely have a bigger menu than Raising Canes. We tried their garlic Parmesan wings, and we didn't really like them. The wings were fried well, but the sauce wasn't as good as Buffalo Wild Wings. We probably should have just tried Buffalo wings instead. The cayenne ranch chicken sandwich, on the other hand, was good. It's nice to have lots of sides to choose from. Will need a few more visits to figure out which are the ones that I like. read more

After a day of traveling back to Tulsa, my son and I yet again stopped into Slim chickens to try it out like i said i would. He again loved it, but I sadly have to get this restaurant one star. I will not be returning. The product just does not taste fresh at all. The french fries taste like they were thrown into a deep fryer from a frozen bag of potatoes that had been sitting in the freezer for over six months. And I decided to try to keep it safe and order chicken tenders. I got them tossed in buffalo sauce, but had to spit out fat pieces the entire time I was eating them. I came to Slim Chickens tonight for dinner, and I was very disappointed! I worked at a slim chickens in Owasso for two years and the fried mushrooms and all of the wraps were a hit. I'm not sure why they decided to discontinue the fried mushroom and most of their wraps but it's very devastating and I don't think I'll be back. I only go for the meal that I usually get which they don't have anymore and the fried mushrooms which they don't have anymore instead of the fried mushrooms this time I got the mac & cheese, which was very watery I even met the higher-ups & he seems really nice so I hope he sees theses reviews and sees how much people miss the fried mushroom already with them only being gone for a couple of days! oh I forgot to mention, they discontinued the chicken and waffles entirely not even just on Wednesdays... read more

I assumed since it's a chicken place that their wings would be AT LEAST decent but I was so disappointed, they basically sell you fried BONES, absolutely no meat nor flavor and the wet sauces make the wings so rubbery, they forgot my extra sauces that I paid for as well. read more

We came in today for lunch and was hugely disappointed!!! One of the main reasons we eat here is the fried mushrooms and the okra. Their mushrooms are better than Hideaways (and they have good mushrooms) only to find they have taken both off the menu. Big mistake!! We were disappointed in the service here and cost for the portion size. The chicken fingers mostly compare to Canes, so I'll discuss some differences. Canes chicken in my opinion, tastes better and is a better value. Slim's had less batter on them which is nice but the flavor seems to be lacking. They have a wide variety of sauces to choose from but we didn't really care for the ones we got. It was just overall meh. We won't be back. Came here for lunch today to check out the "new" place in town. Place was doing a very brisk lunch and most tables were occupied. Was four to five deep in line to order which moved very quickly. I ordered the Chicks Plate. ....three tenders and one side. I upgraded from fries to fried pickles ($1.49 upcharge) as I had heard recommendations on how good they were. Food took approximately 10 minutes and was delivered to the table. The chicken tenders were average sized but we're hot, tender and juicy. The fried pickles on the other hand were very disappointing. The upcharge does get a generous portuon of pickles and whule they were served hot, the pickles were flavorless. As they cooled down the taste of dirty frying oil became very prominent at which point I couldn't eat any more. Nice atmosphere and in my opinion better than Canes. read more

I've been wanting to try this place out ever since it opened its first location in Tulsa. After my sister and I finished the marathon this past Sunday, we thought we deserved to treat ourselves to some fried chicken. I got the chicken and waffles. It came with 3 small chicken tenders. The waffle and chicken were good, but like everyone else is saying...it's way too overpriced for what you get. Food was good, but not AMAZING. They do have a big variety of sweet teas, which is nice. The space is nice - it's big and open and clean-ish (there were crumbs all over the booth seat). Staff was nice (but they didn't give me my Buy Broken Arrow tickets!! Gr.). We've been thoroughly impressed with Slim Chickens during COVID-19. They've done a great job of keeping their drive through running efficiently, and the employees are still positive! The food here is yummy, and the cayenne ranch is my favorite thing on the entire menu :) You can ask for the fried chicken sandwich to be grilled if you're looking for a healthier alternative. Tip: the large fry truly is large. It's more like a big container of fries. In fact, they call it "gigantic fries" when you get to the pick up window! The downside to Slim Chickens is that it's priced too high. It costs about the same as dining out! read more

It was my first time and I loved it! The chicken was tender and delicious, and the choice of sauces was so fun! I'd definitely go back.

I was excited to try this place as I've passed it so many times. The food is good but I guess they don't work well when it's busy. I ordered two salads and I was impressed that one of the employees caught on that one of the orders was wrong and fixed it so I didn't think to check the rest of the bag (which that's on me) when I got home the order was 100 percent wrong. Which is a shame because I was really looking forward to eating it. From what I got to taste the food is very good just wish I was able to enjoy it like I wanted too. So I give it 3 stars because I'm going to blame it on the it being a busy night and from what I got to taste it wasn't bad but hopefully next try it's better ! read more
