We came in for late supper around 9pm. The food was just as fresh as if we came in at supper time. We were greeted as some as we walked in. Joel was the manager on duty. He took our order was very friendly and went over the menu. We had the chicken bite plate. And the chicken came out very fresh and tasty. Fries were good and crispy lemonade was fresh and good flavorful. The restaurant was very clean and tv were all working. Joel also came out an check on all the guests several times. read more

Absolutely incredible experience! The food was delicious--flavorful, fresh, and cooked to perfection. On top of that, the service was excellent. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Highly recommend! read more

I usually come here first if I fly in late. Probably won't again. When Slim's is good, I put them up against any other fried chicken place. This ones been good in the past, but tonight was disappointing. I got a 4 tender meal with cayenne ranch. Waited way longer than normal. The guy brought my bag out and said we had to leave as it was 10. OK fine. I get outside, open the box chicken is hot, and oily. Definitely overcooked. Thr fries were OK. I take a bite of the texas toast. It's like stale bread from the back of somebodies cupboard. Inedible does not describe it. They had to work extra hard to put something that bad in a meal. The staff obviously was irritated that 3 or 4 groups came in at 9:45. This didn't feel like the Slim Chickens I'm used to. read more

First time visiting a Slim Chickens. It was an easy walk from our hotel. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived with people of all ages. The inside was pretty clean and covered patio seating is available too, which is appreciated. The atmosphere is laid back and the food was good, in comparison to other fried chicken quick serve restaurants we've enjoyed. The chicken is cooked to order so be prepared for a little wait, but it's worth it. Service wasn't the most welcoming, but was friendly. Overall a good visit. read more

Service was second to none. Ambiance was lacking in that the dining area was wide open and loud conversations were distracting. Food was very good. However, way too many French fries. We ordered from the children's menu. Would have preferred additional choice of two or more vegetables. The watered down mush we were served as gravy was close to disgusting both in texture and taste. Make some "real" gravy and you'll have customers coming from the locals in droves. No other fried chicken establishment has "real" gravy either. Yours is just a terrible letdown from your other food items we were served. Hate to be so brutal. But, so is your gravy. read more

Was very good, Clean, extremely fast for how many people were here. And we will definitely be back

Always 10/10 with the management making sure you get what your ordered! They're generous in their servings and have really good customer service. The dining room Ambiance is also 10/10. Always hot and fresh food! Keep it up, Destiny and team! read more

I'm a big fan of the tendies and this place had the right vibe. Nothing special but the tendies and fries gave me life.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and they forgot my cayenne ranch which is the only reason reason I eat at Slim's and now I'm going to bed hungry and in tears read more

Around 7 different employees stood at the window as we were ignored and when they finally gave us our food 10 minutes later the box wasn't even closed and all the food was dumped out into the bag. read more

Tonight was our second time here in the past six months. As before, the food was quite good. Previously our order taker was excellent. Tonight our order taker was ok but not very personable. The music was mostly raucous tonight so overall we dropped our rating to 4 stars. read more

I so much wish this location had everything going well. Honestly their window staff is excellent, but they fail miserably on cooking chicken fingers. The chicken always comes out overcooked and if you're looking for something that's very flexible and rubbery, This is the place to go. I've given them at least 10 attempts and nine of them are bad please don't overcook the chicken. It becomes worthless at that point. read more

Tried the grilled tenders and they were so tender and juicy. Way better than CFA. The service was great too! will definitely be back!

We stopped here today HOPING the dining area was open...AND IT WAS! We had already stopped three places before this, wasting gas in Amarillo, trying to find a dine in open so we could have a nice family lunch. We're passing through on our way to Colorado and wanted to stretch our legs. I ordered the strawberry chicken salad, so good! It has pecans and feta cheese, yum. Husband ordered the crispy chicken sandwich meal. I had a few bites, it was fresh and delicious as well. The sweet tea tasted like it has been sitting a while, but that's okay. I decided on the lemonade! Great experience today, thank you ! read more

I love love love slim chicken, most of the time but tonight I was disappointed, I got takeout and (I was the only person ordering takeout and there was only one person inside) it say made to order which the chicken was hot and fresh BUT if you're going to make fresh chicken then you should also have fresh or at least warm French fries My fries were nasty and old. I'm not saying I'm never going back, but bet your butt I'll ask for fresh next time. Just sad read more

Brought the family to try for the first time and we definitely enjoyed our meals. The fried chicken tenders were breaded nicely not too heavy. The waffle was fluffy and the fried pickles side was a good addition. Lots of drink options including some flavored teas. We finished off our meal with a birthday jar cheesecake dessert which though a little pricey is definitely tasty and comes in a nice glass jar. Staff were friendly and didn't mind explaining some of the menu items. TV and music made for a relaxing vibe. We will return for another great meal. read more

Waited almost 30mins for a hungry meal, 7pc tender meal. A family of 5 put in an order 20min AFTER I put in my one meal and they got their food first. I literally wasted half an hour where I could have been on the road driving because this place is so disorganized and they weren't even busy. TLDR 2 stars because the food was pretty good. 1 star because my food should not take that long to get to me. read more

Not impressed! This is the second time we have been to Slim Chickens. Both times the service was awful and the chicken lacks flavor. I'm really disappointed especially with the customer service. The employees ignore customers and just plain rude! So much for southern hospitality! We won't be back. read more

So my visit to this place was about a year ago, pre-Covid but i still remember it like it was yesterday because it was soo good. I had gone to work in Amarillo for the week and this place was pretty close to my hotel. Chicken and waffles...say no more! When I walked in it was very clean, I was attended to very quickly and they even offered a little side of their sauce so that I could try their sauce as well. The waffles and chicken were fresh and so delicious especially for being more of a fast food type restaurant. The Mac and cheese was fresh and good...def better than chic-fil-a's. The meal was good, service was great. There was even someone coming around to all the tables to see if we needed anything, if the meal was ok and if we needed any trash picked up. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely be stopping by again! read more

Ordered at drive thru. The chicken was fresh out of the kitchen. Very good flavor. I don't mind waiting when the food is fresh and hot. Ours was just that. The side of gravy was very good. Service was outstanding and even gave us extra gravy. read more

Stopped here around 8pm after a long drive to grab a quick meal. First time visiting this chain. Food was good for the price and was delivered to our table quickly. Service throughout meal was great, staff stopped by our table twice to ask if we needed anything. Won't be eating here again. We were the only people in the drive through at 6:00-prime dinner time on a Friday evening (should have been our first clue). The chicken tenders and fries were not fresh, horribly cold like they'd been sitting for awhile. The Slim Sauce doesn't come near the flavor of Canes or chikfila sauce, super disappointing. And the bread was stale and not even grilled completely, as well as cold. What a waste of money. Nothing is worse than fried food that tastes old. read more

Was passing through Amarillo on way back to Houston. I was excited to see a location open as many have closed up in Houston. Stopped in around 9:45pm (doors to dining room were already locked even though it said open until 10pm). l ordered a Chicken and Waffles and a Salad. Didn't get Chicken and Waffles (got a 2 piece chicken finger with fries instead---which was terrible BTW), but we didn't know it until about 5 exits later so wasn't going back. Called store, asked for manager who initially wanted me to return to store. I explained we were already on other side of Amarillo at this point and I just wanted refund. He took down my information from receipt and claims to have reversed transaction. That was Sunday night...it's now Wednesday and no credit. I can see why Slim Chickens is no longer a thing in Houston.... read more

Fast Food For Chicken Not bad for a Chicken fast food place. Newly opened just along the freeway. Good for a fast lunch break. Staff was friendly and courteous, restaurant was clean and pleasant. Nice seating area although not real large. Atmosphere modern but plain. We ordered the three piece Chicken tenders with fries. Portions were of good size and food cooked as expected. Prices were what we considered to be reasonable. Meal was tasty and we will go back. Plenty of free parking available in the front of the cafe. read more

Looking for good hot food? Don't stop here. Waited 30 mins for my to-go order to be "cooked." 30 mins later, they brought it out to me as if I was dining in. No one in a uniform. You won't know who works here and who doesn't. Had to wait for them to box it bc for whatever reason, they thought I was eating $32 worth of food on my own. This is not no "cooked to order" place so you all should please take that off your walls and cups. My food was not fresh or hot at all. Had to wait another 10 mins for mushrooms, the cook never dropped them. No one followed the instructions on my order (no pickles etc.). Fries are trash, you should really consider changing to crinkle cut creamy fries. Never going back. Sincerely contemplated in the car, before I left, about asking for my $32 back. If I could give them no stars, I would. read more

Poor service. Indifferent to bring food to customers. Employees more interested in yakking to others in the parking lot. Restroom filthy.

This place just opened. I knew they were getting ready to but I thought it wouldn't be till April and here it is March 21st and I happened to drive past and saw they were ready to go. I decided to stop here instead of going to the other place I was headed for. I asked them how long they had been open and they said since Tuesday which would be 4 days ago. The place was pretty crowded. The service was excellent. I did not feel rushed when I ordered and there were employees circulating around picking up trash, taking away trays and asking people if they wanted drink refills the whole time I was there. I generally prefer chicken on the bone and I usually like dark meat best but this chicken was so tender and moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside that I didn't mind that it was white meat. I got the chicken and waffles because it just sounded good. The waffle was very good and I'm not a big waffle fan. It wasn't overly sweet even with the drizzle of syrup. It was shaped like the state of Texas! There were three generous pieces of chicken and a just-right scoop of butter. The meal came with a drink and I asked if orange juice was included. It was so I had a nice bottle of orange juice to go with my dinner of chicken and waffle. The meal was just under $9 with tax. They have a drive-thru if you're in a hurry which I rarely am. The place looked really clean and it looked like they were planning on keeping it that way. I'm sold. read more

Really delicious! I didn't know that this place had even opened. Went here for dinner and it wasn't too busy. We were able to find seating in the little patio. It's a little noisy since the restaurant is adjacent to the freeway but it's nice to sit outside when the weather is nice. I ordered the meal with the 4 piece chicken strips. It comes with fries and a drink. I also tried the Mac and cheese. The chicken strips were great. They're not too extremely crispy and the breading is light. The fries were delicious and they even have ranch seasoning that you can put on them. For my drink I got a lemonade and it was great! The Mac and cheese was one of the best I've had from a fast food restaurant. You get to choose as many dipping sauces as you want for your chicken strips. I got the ranch, spicy bbq, and buffalo. My favorite was the spicy bbq. The ranch is good quality ranch. read more

Good food, good service. I had the tenders and wings platter both very tasty. If I had a complaint it would only be maybe add a few more wing flavor choices. I can't believe they have an average of 3 stars. My wife and I ate here for the first time, and it's our new favorite chicken place, even over Chil-fil-A! We got a cayenne chicken sandwich, strips, and fries. They were all extremely good! If you haven't tried this place, You should. read more

Traveling through for the night and we were looking for a place called Twisted Tenders which we'd found online. We followed the GPS directions only to realize no such restaurant named Twisted Tenders still existed. We proceeded to drive through the parking lot and we came upon Slim Chickens. With a similar menu to what we'd originally been looking for, we decided to give it a try. We went in and we're met by a very nice gentlemen. It was his second day and he was very helpful. We ordered the family pack which was 12 tenders, 4 slices of toast, ranch chips, a side of our choice, 4 sauces, and a gallon of tea. We asked to get Mac & cheese as our side and swap out the ranch chips for regular fries. The gentlemen helping us said he needed to ask if we could do that. A young lady came up, presumably a Shift Lead, and told us no, that we could not swap out the chips. Okay, no problem. We'll just go ahead and get a side of fries in addition to the family pack. Then the young lady tells us that they are out of Mac & cheese. We asked if we could swap out the Mac & cheese for French fries and we are again told no. Upon asking for 4 cups to drink the tea, she looked at me as if I was asking for her to loan me money - utterly perplexed as to why we would want cups. I explained that we'll need something to pour the tea into so that we don't have to pass the jug around and she still seemed confused. I explained to her that we are just traveling through for the night and that cups would be necessary. That didn't seem to provide any clarity, so I finally offered to BUY cups. She let me do that and proceeded to charge me full price for sodas. I paid over $2.00 per cup, so we got our money's worth and got soda too. The real kicker, however, is that the meal was absolutely awful. The chicken tasted okay but the fries & toast tasted like they'd been sitting around for a while, the ranch chips weren't very tasty, the sauces were mediocre, & the tea (I ordered half & half which I have done NUMEROUS times in Texas) tasted like water with a very slight hint of tea. A very disappointing experience which set me back $35.58. Don't waste your time and go elsewhere. I would like to reiterate however that the gentleman at the cash register was very friendly and the only positive part of our experience. read more

We used to love this place but seldom stopped here at this location. I would highly dissuade anyone from ever stopping here unless you have an hour to kill and don't care whether you actually get your food or not. The employees were friendly but for an hour wait this is unacceptable. I watched multiple families become very angry. The manager even wandered around aimlessly without a care in the world. What a joke this place has become. read more
