Sleepy Bee is a consistently sunny positive place! I met a friend here and we were able to get a table during the mid morning rush with plenty of room for my baby (high chair) and we were served quickly. Our experience was good, but seemed a little more low-frills than in past visits. We were served water once and then not again- sat without refills for most of the meal. We ordered quickly and the food came out fast! Our server came back to ask "had anyone taken payment yet?" And did so with a card reader right at the table, which felt a little clunkier but no big deal. The wonderful part of the food is the local sourcing. Everything is really high quality! The taste was just okay, I was a little underwhelmed but I enjoyed the lunch enough! I ordered the avocado toast. The bread was thin and a little soggy from what I think was the ember sauce, although I am not sure what that is as I didn't get a lot of flavor through! The egg and avocado were perfect with a yummy hemp heart topping. The salad took up most of the plate but was plain greens with a little dressing and celery pieces. A little bitter for most of the bites! I guess my expectations were a little higher for one of cincy's premier brunch places and I just found the meal "okay". Lastly, parking can be a challenge here! It's only paid street parking on the surrounding streets, but it's such a nice pretty area that parking and walking is often a lovely part of the experience. read more

The portion sizes are so small (especially given the price) and they've removed half the menu -- happy to pay higher prices for good quality but it feels like they have reduced everything by 40% (including if you get sauce on the side, etc). Don't know why they removed the sweet potatoes from the menu, because those were a staple and favorite I think for most people. The smashed potatoes are quite honestly terrible. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll Pancakes because I wanted something sweet and they sure delivered! This place has gone WAAAAY downhill. When we arrived the place was completely dead. Just one couple waiting for a friend. We put our order in at 10. We got our drinks. People start walking in. At 930 the party that was there has already finished eating. They were a party of 3 and we a party of 5, 3 of which are children. At 10am we see several parties after us getting served that arrived a half hour or more after us. My husband asked around 10am where our food was as we're approaching an hour. We were told at this point by our server he made a mistake that he took our order manually and didn't enter it into his system and that it would be 10 min. Our food arrived an hour later from when we sat. The food arrived cold. The toast completely untoasted. The potatoes ice cold and the nectar sauce was just plain mayo. It was gross. My husband was so livid he wanted his meal taken off after just one bite. We ate in 5 min and checked out 10:20am. Never again and with all the adjustments it was still over $50 for couple slabs of pancakes and a yogurt. They're closing for repairs. Our cushions were completely broken. This place mars the Sleepy Bee name as the Blue Ash location has always been solid for us. Such a disappointment in a great location. read more

Visiting from Las Vegas and this place was highly recommended and after eating there today, I don't understand why. Joined the waitlist at 10am and wasn't seated until nearly 1pm. Cold & subpar food, received my latte cold and our water glasses never got refilled. Our waiter complained every interaction she had with us about how short staffed they are, that she gets paid the same as everyone else including tips and about her mediocre manager. Lastly when paying our bill, my boyfriend was paying on her portable tablet and she was watching him and as he gave a thumbs down on the service questionnaire at the end, our server made a comment about 'how that goes "Nowhere" just so you know.' So I'm making sure it goes somewhere now. Wouldn't return and wouldn't recommend, never been a place to spend money on breakfast where I didn't feel wanted. read more

Glad I found this place for lunch, initially I thought it is a local cafe/diner because it has a cozy vibe. Once you sit down, waitress will tell you that they are famous for coffee and pancakes. I don't need caffeine at that moment so I just go for pancakes and scrambled eggs. They use free range eggs and other fresh veggies in my "The Avi " scrambled, delicious. I would add more eggs next time. I think the free range eggs is smaller than the cage free ones. Pancakes, that they are famous for. It is very good. The pancake itself is very standard. But the house mix syrup make all the difference. I have the seasonal pancake and the topping is cinnamon sugar + cream cheese. Used to be my go to weekend brunch spot. Unfortunately, over the past year the quality of food has subsided. The Avi Scramble is served with whole spinach leaves, whole mushrooms slices, and quartered tomato's. Vegetables are not chopped or mixed appropriately as compared to other sleepy bee locations. Additionally, they are no longer allowing pancake substitutions for any of their breakfast entrees and do not offer fruit as an acceptable side. If you know sleepy bee you know their pancakes are a selling point and substitutions help make the meal your own. Disappointed to see one of my favorite breakfast locations in the city take such a step back on their menu offerings, food quality, and openness to customer customization. read more

We stopped by Sleepy Bee cafe for brunch on a Sunday. The place was packed. We joined their waitlist on Yelp and were seated in 5-10 mins. This is a women owned business that locally sources everything they make. The food did not disappoint! We tried the mocha and the cappuccino. Both were excellent! Probably the best coffee I have had in a long time. For food, we got the Avi scramble and the breakfast burrito. Both were really good. We also tried their pancake of the day - the mango crunch cake. Ordered the burrito, idk maybe if you're 6 years old the 2oz burrito might be enough for you but as someone actually looking to leave not hungry that thing was absolutely trash, and it was 14$. Alap server came by to take order and drop food off, that was it. Then she made sure to mess our order up, charging me for a wheat pancake tha no one order, and for some reason is 2$ more than a normal one. Ordered 2 14$ items and left will a bill of 50$ since I guess they charge what they want. This is my favorite breakfast/brunch spot to go thus far in Cincinnati. It checks all of the boxes! It is a super cute vibe with a lot of local artwork and everything bee themed. They are a very environmentally friendly organization and locally source most of their products which definitely is a plus. This place can get busy on weekends, but you can use the Yelp app to get on the waitlist before you go! Weekdays I've had no trouble getting a table right away. Most recently, my wife and I split their pancake special which was Pumpkin Cheesecake buttermilk pancakes and a Breakfast Burrito. A friend of ours got The Avi omelet. It was all fantastic but the pancakes were for sure the best. They were super fluffy and covered in a delicious pumpkin sauce that wasn't too sweet, but just right. The breakfast burrito was also quite good, though on the smaller side. The Avi was a beautiful plate full of eggs, greens, and toast that was just lovely to look and just as lovely to eat! I went to Sleepy Bee for the first time (very late being that I've been in Cincinnati for 5 years now), and it was wonderful! I got a chai latte (not pictured), and it was so delicious. All of the lattes came in adorable mugs and were a hit. I then got an avocado toast (a staple wherever I go), and I was pleasantly surprised. I know usually people get pancakes here, but I was feeling savory. The avocado toast itself was pretty good with an egg your way on top. There was perfect seasoning on it and it was delicious. The only disappointing part were the potatoes on the side, which I found to be lacking in much flavor despite the sauce. Cincinnati's healthy-ish brunch place offers a diverse menu, and despite being in an outlying suburb this one had a space just as nice as the downtown one, with a similar atmosphere and exposed brick walls. I was on the hunt for takeout, however, and mine was ready in a reasonable amount of time despite them being packed. Their chai is one of those ones that's more spice than tea, but whatever the spice mix was, it was intoxicating. I got the larger size and it disappeared quickly. They don't charge extra for a choice of milk, and oat milk chai is where it's at. My quinoa I think looked less impressive in a takeout box than it would have in a shallow bowl, but I was happy for quinoa, sweet potatoes, and spinach as a lunch and the pickled onions added excellent flavor. I'd try something different if I find myself at a Sleepy Bee again, but there are plenty of things that look worth trying. read more

They make amazing pancakes with berries as well as the red potatoes that come as a side. They have some lunch options but I've stuck to breakfast since they have good choices. I've come many times now but would suggest trying a Scramble or a breakfast burrito. It's amazing that they offer vegan, gluten free, and nut free options. Sleepy Bee really is the quintessential local brunch spot. This is the place I bring people when they're in town visiting, the place I recommend local friends visit if they're pancakes, and my go-to brunch date spot with my husband. Pro tip - use your Yelp app and join the Waitlist ahead of time! You can usually walk right in on a weekday, but you'll be lucky to find a wait less than an hour on Saturdays and Sundays. This requires a little pre-planning, but it's well worth it. By now - I've had several of their delicious brunch items. My favorite is definitely the "Broakley" sandwich, paired with a pitcher of their Mimosas. We've also tried their Bloody Marys - which are certainly tasty - but don't have the traditional tomato flavor we know and love. During my most recent visit, I was more in the mood for lunch, so I ordered the "Sweet Bee Quinoa Bowl" with an egg on top, and a cup of their "Ginger Coconut Sweet Potato" soup on the side. This was a wonderful, warm lunch on such a cold day ... and the soup was so flavorful and creamy, I'm definitely coming back just for that. The service here is always stellar - even when they're swamped on the weekends. Sometimes parking can be a little stressful - but there's plenty of street parking in the nearby neighborhoods if you don't mind a walk.
