Carl's Deli - Delis Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

My review is for their small shop at Findlay Market. I ordered a Reuben and I was disappointed that it was not grilled and the corned beef was kind of plopped on there. For being a popular deli in Cincy, I was far from impressed. There were I think 2 or 3 tables that had chairs and we felt like they were going to collapse while we were sitting there. I would not go back for that for sure :( read more

What a cute little place to pick up a sandwich. Carl's Deli is carry out only which is ok. We ordered 3 sandwiches to go to take to my MIL at MPL and eat with her. We placed the order online as we were driving there. We arrived earlier than expected for our pick up and they made the sandwiches immediately. Great service. Italian turkey:fresh - tasted like a sandwich you would make at home with just a little extra flavor. Roast Beef:First bite delicious as well as the rest. Multigrain Turkey:MIL Loved the sandwich. I give it a 4.5 but since the app doesn't allow that it has to be a 5. read more

I got the pastrami slaw paper cheese double. It was an amazing sandwich. It's thick with tons of protein and the cheese melts in your mouth. I also got the curry chicken salad, which was delicious. The service was wonderful. It was warm, friendly, and quick service. The ambiance is welcoming and warm. I highly recommend for a good sandwich to stop by this Deli. read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while so today was the day. Went with the #23 with chips & a soda -$14 & some change. RUN, don't walk to this place. The sandwich was the bomb!! I'll never eat another sandwich chain again. For the value & quality, hands down this is the winner. Only downside is it's carryout only but that's not a deal breaker for me. I'd hit it...again. read more

Carl's Deli - #23 with everything. - Delis Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

This was a happy accident. I was on a day trip with Matt and Michael and where to eat lunch became a bigger problem than anticipated. Essentially for me I had waited too long to eat and the idea of waiting longer was a non starter for me. Sandwiches are not my go to food outside the house, it seems silly on some level. However, the sandwich I had was fantastic and well balanced. There was a good amount of everything without it being too much. Sometimes it's too much. This was great. They also had good, homemade or freshly made sides like potato salad and other salads you could get. It was great. read more

I have heard so much about this place recently and I love a good sandwich so I know that I had to stop in ASAP. I stopped by for a quick lunch during the week and wanted an easy to-go sandwich. They have a medium sized menu but a lot of different options which makes it a bit hard to pick haha! I decided on a reuben sandwich with all of the fixens inside. I was surprised that I was the only one in there because of the amount of rave reviews. It was a small quaint little place. The employees were suppperrrr nice and gave me a lot of time to think about my order. The vibes in there were very cool with fun music and just overall a good time. Now onto the Reuben. Holy cow! It was juicy and very flavorful, with the perfect amount of sauerkraut. The bread was toasty and the sandwich was nice and warm but not too hot. I think this will be a new spot for me for lunch! read more

I was in town for work and craving a good deli sandwich. This place had some good reviews so I thought I would check it out. It did not disappoint! This place is small inside and has no indoor seating. There are a few outdoor tables for customers. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I tried the Hot Heidi sandwich (turkey, salami, pepper jack cheese, banana peppers, onion, lettuce, mayo, oil/vinegar on a toasted baguette). It hit all the marks for a great sandwich. Stacked full of meat. Perfect amount of mayo. It was perfection. I devoured it in the car before I even drove off. If I lived in Cincinnati - I would visit this deli all of the time! read more

Let's just get it out there: You're gonna have to wait. But that's just fine by the Cincy locals who line up down the street to order their favorite deli sammies and sides. Carl's has everything you want in a local deli: the guy at the slicer wheeling off fresh turkey and havarti, the glass case full of potato salad and giardinara, the crew behind the counter layering your sammy with LTO and wrapping it to go. Even the old time canvas awning covering the doorway. Carl's has it all. Try one of their recipes or create your own. The Carl's country club (#23) is a flavor explosion. Loads of fresh sliced turkey and bacon stacked between the bread with some lettuce, tomato, and onion for color and flavor. (I swapped the white bread for wheat and added a fried egg--because fried eggs make everything better.) There are a few small two-top tables along the sidewalk, but most folks take their order to go. read more

Stopped by to grab some lunch, we got the Carl's Ruben, Salami Mami special, broccoli salads and a couple drinks. It was my 1st time and the store is small but the menu is huge! The deli meat and bread taste very fresh. The customer service was pretty good, the people were friendly and eager to help. I would say for a typical deli atmosphere it was cool. Beware there is seating outside at tables that only seat two so it is a grab and go place. I would give it a try! read more

We have been planning a bridal shower for 25 women for several months, and the deli we originally ordered from had a sign on their door, stating they were closed to "take their son to college" when we arrived an hour and a half before the shower started to pick up our sandwiches. Of course we were shocked and in panic mode. I've been going to Carl's Deli in HP for years and LOVE their sandwiches, but haven't been to the one in OTR, and we were 5 minutes away. We quickly called Carl's as our first choice, but were convinced they would not be able to put together that many sandwiches for us in a half hour. Fortunately, we were wrong. Cody took the call from us, and immediately called Sydney, the co-owner. We cannot thank them enough for what they did to help us. They took care of us with so much professionalism, kindness and calmness. We appreciate that they went above and beyond to accommodate us by remaining professional, asking workers to stay longer and all of this happening during their busiest part of the day at Carl's. We were so appreciative again at how beautiful the trays were when they arrived. Cody, Sydney and their team lovingly prepared at least 5 different varieties of sandwiches, and they were displayed beautifully. The sandwiches were all delicious, fresh and innovative. Our guests raved about how good the sandwiches were, and loved having so many choices. I'm so proud to have a business like Carl's Deli in Cincinnati, and look forward to many more sandwiches from them. From now on, they will definitely be my FIRST choice for all of my deli needs! Thank you so much to their wonderful team of workers and for making such delicious and fresh sandwiches! read more

LOVE this deli!! Everything in their inventory always looks delicious. The sandwich combos are the best. Carl's Deli is the perfect sandwich shop to visit when it's nice outside. They have a few tables of outdoor seating and the line is usually out the door around lunch. Ambiance: great! Everything you'd want at a local deli. Great options and selection of sides, chips, ice cream etc. they source great products on their shelves. Service: good! Friendly and sociable Food: REUBEN: a good Reuben. - price: $12 is good for the size of the sandwich. - bread: 16 Brix rye bread. Salty and tangy. Very good choice of bread. But could be a little thicker to absorb 1000 island and juices from the meat as it got a little soggy. - corned beef: good. Very salty but good. the sandwich needed more 1000 island to bring salt level down. Unfortunate that they microwave their meat and cheese instead of on a flat top. BROCCOLI SALAD: GAS!!! - cheddar, craisins, broccoli, pine nuts, a sweet mayo base sauce & red onion = match made in heaven. Well done. All in all. It's a local favorite and a historic landmark. But microwaving the meat and cheese as well as not having the balance of flavor on the Reuben makes it tough to give it 4 stars. All in all, a good spot. read more

Delicious sandwiches!! #23 is my favorite. It's a cute little deli shop- worth a visit!

Fresh deli sandwiches in a no fuss, no mess environment. They don't grill your sandwiches. They just make them with the toppings available for a little customization and get it made quickly, take your money and send you on your way. Very efficiently run as they have enough people working there like an assembly line. A woman was eating her chips while waiting for her sandwich and they told her there was no eating inside the establishment as there is no public restroom. She shrugged as if to say she was only waiting on her sandwich. Eat outside on a nice day on the sidewalk. read more

Stand in line and wait your turn. There is always a line because they are good. The bread smell is delicious and tantalizing while you are waiting your turn. You get in, you should have already decided what you want by the time it's your turn. You can add whatever you want, change the bread or whatever - sky's the limit. Grab some shop made salads that are in the case or chips and enjoy! read more

Gave me the wrong sandwich - just called out the number and not the changes I made. Someone then took my sandwich and i had to wait 10 more mins (after the 20 i already waited) and got the someone else sandwich. There is a horrible line system and call out system and the food is extremely expensive.... Not to mention you wait 30 mins just to get the food. Trash workers read more

With sandwiches stuffed and dressed to the nines, this is truly the one and only delicatessen Cincinnatians need to know about. It embodies the heart of a true deli, with the freshest meat, bread, and topping options ready to pair with a variety of salads, soups, and sides. They have 33 sandwich options that are tried and true, but you can always create your own custom sandwich as well. No matter what you try it's sure to be delicious. As they are takeout only, you can be in and out in a flash as they'll quickly serve up your sandwich with a smile. Perfect for lunch on the go, or you can sit on one of their cute tables right outside. read more

I have yet to encounter a sandwich shop that can dethrone Carl's deli. It is tucked away in a residential area in Hyde park and I envy the people that live across the street. The ambiance of the place is just like everyone says, so homey and cute! It feels like a deli counter (go figure) lol but obviously you're getting food, there's no room to sit and they do offer limited outside seating! The service was great the staff was kind and quick, despot being a line they didn't rush me because it was my first time so I wasn't super sure in my choice. I opted for the hot roast beef sandwich with everything on it. It was good not amazing, I think the meat tasted a bit dry, it wasn't necessarily hot and the sandwich definitely would've tasted better with a creamier condiment instead of the olive oil and vinegar. It was my first time so I definitely feel like I didn't really tweak it the way I should've I just wanted to see how they do things but I think I the flavor is definitely there. I would go back and try something else out and maybe customize the sandwich a bit more to my liking if they allow that but overall the food gets a 3/5 for me but the staff and aesthetics were 5/5! read more
