The only reason I'm not giving them one star is because I do love their sides, and the sandwiches are pretty good. However, either they some of the rudest people working there or they are just down right racist. On one occasion I waited while an older gentleman (may be the owner) waited on a lady in front of me. After he was done, he just walked away like I wasn't even there. When I questioned him about what had just happened, his excuse was that he assumed I was with the lady he waited on. I call BS on that one. So, today, I walked up to the counter, the guy I mentioned earlier and another guy were on the customer side of the counter talking with another guy on the service side of the counter. They all looked at me and continued their conversation about the cost of a smoker and something about a grinder. One of the guys on the customer side of the counter told the guy behind the counter that there's someone needing assistance. This asshole looks and me and says "I will be right with you" and continued his story about the smoker. A woman from the deli had to come over and help me. Again, either they are the rudest fucks around, or they are just out right racist. I'm going to play race card on this one. read more

This sandwich here would be my choice for final lunch meal of my life if I had to pick. I have only ever ordered one thing here, the Chicken Salad BLT special with smoked gouda cheese added. Everything about this sandwich is perfectly done; the taste, the size, the price, and it is made to order. The staff here is friendly and efficient, even at busy lunch hours. So many other things look good on their menu and in the deli case... they offer many pre-made meals, sides, and deli specials. Their meats always look amazingly fresh. There isnt much space inside, but there are nice tables out front if you prefer to eat there. I've stopped in twice and haven't been let down. This little gem is tucked in a shopping strip on Montgomery. Staff - super friendly and family feel. Step up and start ordering. Meat - I've only gotten a couple frozen chicken breasts stuffed with Brie and cranberry. I'm hoping to put those on a plate soon. I purchased these on a recommendation from another customer. Deli - the egg salad and ham salad are DELICIOUS! I could eat a pound of it by myself. I've gotten pepperoni and cheese sliced as well and exactly what I was wanting. Other items - local food items. If anyone deserves 5 stars - it's Holzman Meats. It's tucked away in a strip mall center in Montgomery hidden behind a gas station and Mcabe's Lumber. It's humble and not trying to be anything it's not. What is it though? A good old fashioned butcher shop and DELI! If there is anything that Cincinnati needs - its more traditional deli's. It's funny people often think I am fancy and the truth is, I'm not. I don't need some fancy pants sammie. What I need is: quality in it's simplest form. And it is something that when I see it, I appreciate it, and I scream from the rooftops about it. Holzman Meats is just that. Farm raised beef, chicken, eggs, and a surprisingly large amount of fresh seafood. This is the stuff that gets me excited. When you shop local you build a relationship with your butcher and he/she can alert you when something amazing comes in they think you will like. THIS IS THAT PLACE. This is also a place where you can pick up everything you need for a picnic or a supper at home when you just don't have the time. They have pre-made potpies ready for the oven, quiches, potato salads, and pasta salads. We didn't order them so I can't speak to the quality of these - but the convenience for busy families is a definite win. As for the deli, it offer's Boar's Head and a surplus of fun condiments. You can choose from the menu or build your own. The gentleman behind the counter let us know they are known for their panini's. We got turkey bacon in both the panini and the cold deli sammie. Both were simple, but perfectly delicious and no joke our total was $10 for two sammies and a drink - WHAT?! We stopped at another local spot before this and nothing jumped out at us, and not to be weird but a similar sandwich was $12 on it's own. Not only is this place a bargain - you cannot put a price on the service. The young man taking care of us was excited to tell us about the place (without even being prompted) and you could tell he was proud to work there. It made me feel good about spending our money there and even though it's far from where I live, I would make a special trip back here just to experience this level of service again. I've only been here once on a reco from a friend and she raved about it! I picked up some ribeyes and filets to grill at home for Valentine's Day dinner. I went with the choice cut ribeyes since they are priced more reasonably and less fatty. The guy who helped me was friendly and helpful. While I was waiting for my daughter to text me about her order I walked around the store. There are two sides that have an opening between them. One side is the meat counter and refrigerated/frozen meats and seafoods, as well as wine and desserts. There are also potatoes if you don't want to make a stop at the grocery store, plus dried pastas and sauce in jars. On the other side is the deli counter that also has pre-made foods (mac n cheese, chicken pot pies that my friend says are wonderful, salads, etc.). Will have to go back and try some of these! I wanted to support local business, so I ordered our Father's Day filets from Holzman for pickup. (Two 10 oz and three 8 oz filets). Sent my son to pick them up and they charged me $115.00!!!! Can't tell if this place is racist or just rude. Often times racist owners of stores will just be rude yet still serve you in an effort to prevent you from coming back. Otherwise they would be sued. The very first interaction to the last with an older gentleman was filled with hate. It was the first time I've been there and the last. Which is a real shame, I strive to patron local small businesses to help support our own against big businesses and national chains. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of how long you have to wait. If you're in a hurry this isn't the place. They move with zero urgency. Still with the wait though. Hidden back in the shopping plaza, next door to Bonnie Lynn Bakery, is this little deli/meat shop that's an awesome treasure. I pop in for lunch here and there because they will make you a giant sandwich for super cheap. They've got Boar's Head meats and cheeses... in fact, a giant case full of great stuff. But the best... they will slam together an awesome Cuban panini that's gigantic! They've also got other great deli stuff... and the peanut butter pie... well... holy YUMMY batman!! Amazing meat market and deli. We've been going here for years. The steaks and top notch, and all of the prepared salads and sides are great. The green beans are so good, they taste homemade. The scalloped potatoes are INSANE. And to balance out the scalloped potatoes, they actually offer traditional chicken salad, chicken salad with grapes, and LOW FAT CHICKEN SALAD. I adore this stuff. I love good chicken salad, but with all that mayo, it's usually a complete calorie bomb. The low fat chicken salad at Holzman's is so good, you will never miss the fat. You can get meat and sides to go, or you can get fresh made deli sandwiches, everything is so fresh. One thing to note, most of the guys are nonsense (coming across as gruff), if you've never been before it can be a bit off-putting. They're actually all really nice, but they're trying to move lots of people through there each day, and so they just want your order and to get you out of the store! read more

So, my quest for locating a close by quality butcher ended up here! After reading some reviews about Holzmann's I decided to give them a try. Today, I was out looking for a high quality prime rib roast for me and my wife to enjoy. First thing I noticed about this place, was the smell of something delicious that met me as soon as I stepped inside! Heading up to the meat counter, I spoke with Roger. He gave me a small tutorial on how to choose the quality of the beef I was looking for. I settled on the prime cut of rib roast. What I liked is that Roger took the time to speak to me and was very helpful not only in picking out my cut, but also on preparing and cooking it as well. After I got home, I followed his instructions, and WOW! What an outstanding piece of meat! We thoroughly enjoyed our special meal! I will certainly be returning to Holzmanns! One of the things that convinced me to go here is the amount of 5 star reviews they have, except for the one hate filled person that gave it 1 star! read more

My family loves this butcher! A vegan needs to steer clear of this place, because it's too damn good (no offense to vegans, just a compliment to the shop). We always get our filets here, and they beat Kroger steak by a million. The people are nice, and the food is more than satisfactory. The only reason why I give it a 4/5 stars is because the smell of the place isn't the best, but, a shop full of raw meat will most likely do that. This deli/butcher shop is the crème de la crème of deli's. I work right down the road, and my co-worker and I come here for lunch weekly, if not more. It is a local, family-owned business (spanning several generations) and you feel it. All the employees are friendly and attentive, and the owner (Ron) is AWESOME. They will make you just about anything you want, and they go above and beyond with service. Their meats are of superb quality, and all the homemade (daily) sides and specials are delicious. I ordered a fruit, cheese and sandwich tray from Holzman's for a small wedding reception. All trays were outstanding. The fruit tray had a huge variety and had a luscious dip with it. My relative and i stopped at the deli after a football game because she kept raving about the smoked salmon and the chicken salad. I'm thinking to myself could it really be this good. I walk in and they had the smoked salmon as a sample and it was excellent..... I walked over to the deli area were she ordered the chicken salad. She asked the guy could I try some before I bought he said sure . When I took the first bite I almost danced in the of the store the chicken salad is sooooo good I had to buy a pound. We have long since stopped buying any meats at the large local chain grocery. Because even their top of the line steaks were tasteless. Everything we have ever bought at Holzman's has had exceptional flavor: Steak, pork chops, chicken, even the ground beef is vastly superior to the chain store's selection. Great quality meats and very friendly and helpful staff. I buy my holiday turkeys there and they are de-lish! I order my fresh turkey over the phone, and then the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas I pick it up...they have a truck outside and someone to hand out the turkeys, which are in neat boxes and are usually all trussed up and ready to go. Sooo convenient! For nights when you don't know what to make for dinner, they have lots of "prepared" meats (like stuffed pork chops, breaded chicken) ready to pop in the oven for dinner.
