I have been meaning to get to Sweets & Meats forever after seeing folks rave about them on the Facebook. The other day, I happened to notice they had posted about a corporate client cancelling a big order at the last minute and asking for help selling the catering order. I needed to go run an errand near the location anyway so it seemed like fate. And I will not wait around on Sweets & Meats again because this food is legit. I got the pulled pork sandwich combo, which comes with two sides (and they have like eight different sides - I love variety!). I appreciated that my to-go order had the meat and sauce separate from the bun so I could assemble at home and not have a bunch of pork and bread mush instead of a sandwich. The pork was delicious - it didn't NEED sauce but the sauce was so good I had to throw some on there. The collards were delicious (they can go so wrong so easily). But the mac & cheese was the star. I immediately started telling people "you need this mac & cheese in your life, you're welcome." Their little spot underneath Children's Hospital is modest but cute and clean. Service was friendly and they gave me my cornbread (oh, the cornbread - I almost forgot! Also delicious) for free because they accidentally gave my very similar order to the wrong person (we ordered the same meal, I just added cornbread). They were actually in the weeds a bit because their call to action was successful - the phone was ringing off the hook and I got there in time to beat the crowd. I previously tried to visit this restaurant during another trip to Cincinnati; however, they were out of the items I wanted that day. When I returned to Cincinnati while working at UC Health Holmes Hospital, I had the opportunity to try it again. I called the restaurant ahead of time, and they informed me that my order would be ready in 15 minutes. I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich platter with macaroni and cheese and baked beans. When I arrived, my food was not ready, and I was informed that their ticket system was down. It took an additional 10-15 minutes to prepare my order, despite them knowing what I had requested. While I waited, I walked around the restaurant, which appeared to be clean. Various patrons were coming in, and a few others were also waiting for their food. Unfortunately, I was on a tight schedule and needed to get to the airport. When I asked if my food was ready, they finally completed my order. Though I couldn't eat it right away, I eventually got the chance to try the food. I found the macaroni and cheese to be lacking in flavor and unappealing in texture. The pulled chicken was extremely salty to the point of being inedible. The best item on my plate was the baked beans. Unfortunately, this visit left a disappointing first impression, but I am willing to give the restaurant one more try, as it may have simply been an off day. read more

I've been craving BBQ for a few weeks, so my husband read my mind, and we went back to Sweets & Meats to grab dinner. The smells of smoked meats when we walked in had us both excited. I went with Manks Sampler again but added beef brisket this time. For my sides, I was debating trying something different, but went with my favorites the sweet potato casserole, and collard greens. I also added a piece of cornbread to the order. My husband ordered the pulled chicken sandwich, and a half rack of ribs. We also ordered a full rack of ribs for our son, and an order of beef brisket to go. The staff were all friendly and took care of our order wonderfully. The meats this time were all nicely smoked, and tasty. The serving portion of the brisket was nice, and while it's not a huge issue, trimming the large amounts of fat would make for a nicer presentation. The sweet potato casserole, and greens were just like the first time I tried them, delicious. The cornbread was moist and had corn in it, it wasn't sweet but could've passed for dessert, yum. The ribs were meaty, and worth the price. Thank you to Pam at the register for being super friendly. I just saw the announcement the Sweets and Meats is going to be featured in a Super Bowl ad this year!! Wow!! Congratulations! Hopefully this will bring a new wave of customers to your doorstep! Their new(ish) restaurant location is across Burnett from Children's Hospital. Tons of options for dine-in and carry-out, don't forget their catering too. This BBQ crew started waaay old-school with literally a smoker on the side of Clough Pike in Anderson Twp., opened up a spot (now their catering commissary in Mt. Washington), and finally this, a sit-down testament to all things meaty, and sweety! They have ribs, brisket, pulled pork, chicken.... This new location has burgers (I hear are fire). They have a fryer too, and their French fries are really good. I would be NEGLIGENT if I didn't mention the Mac & Cheese. You think you know, but you don't know until you've had theirs. Probably the best in town. That's high praise. You can make platters, sandwiches, buy by the pound, or order ahead for occasions like SUPER BOWL parties and catered events!!! I'm trying to figure out what time the grill shuts down. I came in at 3:20p and was told they shut the grill and fryer down an hour early when they close at 4:00pm. Walked in after work to order brisket and sides. This is my 3rd attempt to get brisket, they were out again. I left with a few containers of mac and a few containers of greens. First off, the place was extremely clean. I'm talking spotless. I felt bad that my kid got a couple crumbs in the floor. Service was friendly and the pulled pork sandwich with house sauce was excellent! Best bbq I've had this year, easily. I'd get the green beans again. They had a little spice to make them interesting. Fries were good too. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. It did take longer than I expected for the food to be ready. We were a little confused by the gps turning us into the hospital grounds, but we parked in the parking garage and came in what we determined later to be the back door. There is a store front that we missed completely from the direction we drove in. The service was great. Everyone was super friendly. We were chopping it up with the cashier while they assembled our Togo order. The smells were emanating all the way outside which got me excited about what we were about to enjoy!! My wife received a bbq four way for her Yelp elite membership bonus, consisting of Mac and cheese, pulled pork, Cole slaw and bbq sauce. I ordered some chicken wings, smoked then fried and tossed in buffalo-ranch sauce. Then of course my wife couldn't resist the homemade banana pudding. It looks amazing and it all smells even better! The house bbq sauce is thick, dark red and has a brown sugar sweetness with a smoky, vinegar bite at the end. Very good. I can't decide what was better, the wings or the bbq four way. Holy lord have mercy on my tastebuds. The wings were amazing. Easily the best wings I have had in quite some time. The smokiness was great without tasting like campfire, and there was some sort of rub on the wings themselves that just tasted so sweet and salty and awesome. The buffalo sauce had a sweetness countered by some heat at the end that danced on my tongue. The bbq four way was better than I expected. I'm not a huge Cole slaw person, and I only LIKE Mac and cheese... I don't go bonkers for it like some people. But I will say this, the combination of the creamy Mac and cheese, which was almost soft in a good way, underneath the insanely juicy pulled pork, with the crunchy coleslaw and sweet heat from the bbq sauce was perfect. It's not necessarily something I may have ordered off the menu on my own, but the next time we go back (because there WILL be a next time) I will have a hard time not ordering it again! I went for lunch after dropping my daughter off at UC's Med campus. In summary, it's great to have them in the neighborhood! The brisket sandwich combo was very good. And I think it's best to judge a barbecue place by its brisket. Sweets & Meats gets big thumbs up from me. With my combo, I got two sides so I got the collard greens and mac & cheese, and enjoy both of them. Collard greens were a little spicy and a pepper kind of way and that's fine with me. The mac & cheese was also creamy and had an herby flavor with a nice layer of cheese on top. I came for the meats so I didn't try the sweets but I heard a lot of people ordering the Strawberry Crunch Cake so it must be good. The dining room is big and very welcoming and staff was very friendly. This is real close to the hospitals so I'm glad that people visiting the hospitals have such a good option for food. read more

Sweet's was a treasure of a bbq joint we found in Cincinnati. It had a smallish menu but had all of the bbq necessities that you would expect. I got some smoked & fried wings which came with a delicious sweet heat type of bbq sauce. Absolutely phenomenal in every way as they were cooked perfectly and that sauce was something special. We also got one of the Anton's Sampler which came with sliced brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, and rib tips. It also came with 2 sides which we got mac and cheese and sweet potato casserole. While I enjoyed every part of this a whole lot the brisket is the thing that left the most lasting impression with me as it was out of tis world delicious. The mac and cheese was also exceptionally good as well. I'm telling you I've had some fantastic bbq over the years ftom many different places but this may be my #1 favourite. Also the restaurant was really clean and the workers were very friendly. I can't recommend Sweet's BBQ highly enough. It was an absolute gem. read more

This place is very cute! They were out of ham and coleslaw so wasn't able to try those but the rest of the food was fine. The smoked turkey was really good. The sides of stuffing and mac & cheese were really good. The green beans, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy, and pulled pork were all average or below. The servers and owner were very sweet and enjoyed their hospitality, I just think the Thanksgiving dinner needs some work. Everything else was top notch! read more

Kristen's staff is amazing! Everyone is so friendly, and the food is THE BOMB!! My favorite is the brisket, one of the best in town. I'm so glad they are near my job, now I can get it as often as I want. The sitting area outside is so chill, and when it's warm out they have live entertainment. This is a very well run restaurant that produces great BBQ. There's a reason they have been in the game as long as they have.

I stopped by last minute, 10 minutes before closing to try out the food and not knowing what to expect. The staff were very helpful and took the time to discuss their favorite options and how the food compared to some of their competitors. The honesty and authenticity were appreciated and I was very excited to try the food. Since they were closing through they provided me with some samples of the sides and everything was fantastic. This is by far some of the best brisket in the city, and the green beans had some spice and flavor that immediately became a must order going forward. My wife had the Mac and cheese and although peppery, was fantastic! We always disagree over nutty or marshmallowy sweet potatoes and theirs were both! I have to bring up the brisket again because I am addicted and will be back! The staff was fantastic and the food was delicious, I can't wait to be back 100 times! read more

this is my second time coming here, first time it was so good nice hot and fresh quality was top notch! second time I went I got literal scraps, food was like warm and looks like they picked up random scraps of left over meat and threw it together. my first time was all black people they got me together second time was mostly white people and they honesty made me mad I was excited to get this and I'm super let down hopefully if I give it another shot it's better! I was reading the reviews and was very excited to try this restaurant. I originally wanted brisket, rib tips and sweet potato casserole but they were out of those so I ended up ordering smoked and fried chicken wings, pulled pork sandwich and mac n cheese. I'm not sure if it was an off night but the food was not good. There was no seasoning what so ever and it just tasted blah, I ended up throwing myaway. Very disappointed customer!
