There are very few places to eat on a Monday in Red River Gorge. This place was delicious. Highly recommend. They have a great beer selection. My husband loved the orange cream cider by country boy. What blew us out of the water with its yumminess was the loaded Hummus. It was soooooo good. It came with homemade crispy tortilla pieces, Hummus with Feta and a large portion of shredded seasoned chicken and peppers. It was sooooo good. If in the area check this place out. This place is amazing, particularly after a hike. I visited recently for the first time with a friend after we had spent a day on the hiking trails. We had worked up quite an appetite, and when she told me that we could get awesome hot dogs at a place that she knew of, I was instantly sold. It's a short drive from many of the trail heads, but you'll love the look of the rustic cabin with an expansive front porch that invites you to sit, located right off of the Bert T Combs Mountain Parkway. Inside, its high ceilings decorated with climbing equipment keep the rustic vibe, while music, a pool table, and several high top tables invite you to sit around for a spell. We both ordered the German hot dog (it had some clever name, but I was so hungry that I forgot to pay attention to it). Within a reasonable amount of time, they were delivered to our table. Maybe it was the appetite that we had worked up, but this totally hit the spot. Temperature, flavor, and texture were all just right. If we hadn't had to go on back home, we would have likely spent more time relaxing there. This is a great place for burgers and dogs. Very cool interior. Cabin type structure, large tables with cool water presentation at each table and big mouth jars so you have the ability to have water but not waste it! Super nice employees. Live music at certain times. Our family enjoyed the food and simplicity of the restaurant. The burger was served in a cool wood platter. Appeared to have a healthy beer selection. Stopped in here for lunch after hiking the rock bridge trail in red river gorge. This place is very close to the entrance of Daniel Boone National Forest. First impression walking in was that it is very cozy. Rustic cabin feel. Fireplace, dart boards, guitars and banjos hanging on the wall. They have live music on the weekends. Decent menu. Sandwiches, wraps, quesadillas and appetizers. We had barbecue pork nachos as an appetizer. Hands down the best I have had. The pork was very tender, melted cheese and the sauce was delicious. I had the chicken quesadilla for main course. It was solid. They also have around a dozen craft beers on tap. Mostly from west sixth brewery in Lexington. They serve them in mason jars as a nice touch. Overall a great experience. I would highly recommend after hiking a trail or passing through the area. Definitely an awesome place and somewhere I would suggest for anyone to check out while in the area! Pulled up at 10:45am just kind of stumbled upon the place and they said they didn't open till 11 but we could go on in and start looking at the menu! The service was really good and I got the yeah burger with mayo pickles onion lettuce and tomato, could've used cheese and ketchup though! But it was one of the better beef burgers I've had in a very long time. A very thick and juicy patty on nice buns with some chips on the side! For the burger chips and a drink can't beat it for 10 bucks!! My father got the chili bowl and really liked that especially for the price, really good value. But wasn't too big on his Cole slaw! Sky Bridge Station is a watering hole near Red River Gorge. The bar offers local Kentucky brews on draft, served in Mason jars. The food here is standard bar fare, but they have vegetarian options (any burger or hot dog can be made vegetarian). We ordered a veggie hot dog and a chicken quesadilla. The food was fresh, tasty, and hit the spot after 11 miles of hiking. Sky Bridge also has outdoor tables and is dog friendly. The restaurant does have limited hours in some instances (not always open for lunch, so check website and social for hours before you go). Dining in the Red River Gorge area in October can be a challenge. We saw the sign and stopped in on a Monday evening. My friend had the quesadilla. He said it contained ample chicken, cheese, and had a little bit of heat. It was a nice size portion and he really enjoyed it. I had the basic hamburger. It was very large (3/4 lbs?), cooked to perfection, and quite tasty. The bun was good and the hamburger also had a nice thick slice of tomato. Prices were very reasonable. I stopped here on a Saturday night after hiking all day due to the Google reviews. We were starving and just wanted a good meal before a 3 hour drive home. When we pulled up the place is extremely nice. The staff is very friendly and that's the only reason I gave them any stars. We ordered a couple burgers and a quesadilla. Have to say I love food and this was no where near impressive. The burgers here come with ruffles. That's okay they come with chips but I would suggest making chips in house at least. These burgers are also $15. Maybe it's the cook or the business but anyone who says these burgers are amazing needs to have their taste buds checked. The best part of the burger was the jalapeños. The burger had no seasoning. This was bland and a huge let down. The quesadilla was okay but the shredded chicken tastes like it comes from a can. The place was filled with people who just completed a 50k (or 25K) through the gorge. We walked/hiked through the place all day - and can't imagine how these cats ran through it for a much longer distance. That's nuts. Great selection of brews on tap ($5.50 IPA's) served in mason jars. Staff was very attentive - but we weren't in a hurry. Ordered some chips/salsa ($4) to start out....pretty standard. My bride went with the grazer quesadilla and I went with the Aztec quesadilla ($10 each) - both were fine. We went to pay....and they don't keep a check/tab. It's all on your honor. Who does that anymore? They have not updated their hours on Yelp to what they are on Instagram so we went home to our leftovers and napped and showered to make a return trip for dinner. When we entered we were told they were out of chicken. Eighty percent of their menu was chicken. We ordered second choices, got a number, and our beers and waited. And waited. And waited. Noticed the people who ordered in front of us were just about finished with their food, so we asked for a refund. They gave us cash based on my husband's guesstimate, without even researching it. Stopped in on a sweltering July (2019) afternoon with 6 friends. Terrific beer selection and plenty of space to hang out, throw some darts, and chat with the other patrons and employees. The shared chicken nachos were ok. Fast service and nice amenities for the hiking / climbing crowd (like water dishes outside for dogs, a porch swing, etc.). Place has a cool vibe. I had the burger because the grass fed beef was sourced a mile down the road & I was thoroughly rewarded with what may have been the best burger I've ever had. My friend had a bacon, egg, lettuce & tomato sandwich with a side of cold slaw & loved them both. Stumbled upon this place on our way to see Chimney Top Rock. Turns out it is NOT the Chimney Rock from Oregon Trail, but this place made the trip worthwhile. We got The Epic Journey, The Slaw Dog and the Chipotle Quesadilla. All three completely to-die-for. The beers on tap are surprisingly good, and the atmosphere is unparalleled to something you'd find in a tourist camping/hiking/climbing town. No cheesy old-timey business here. This is much more like a Fort Collins, Portland, or Utah hang. It's apparent the owner/employees aren't locals and if they are, they clearly left for a bit and came back.
