It is smack dab in the city center and makes it easy to find and enjoy the city. It is far enough from bars that there isn't a lot of street noise but close enough to the action that you could wobble back intoxicated if that is your thing. The hostel itself was quite the letdown. It seemed so nice from the pictures. What the pictures didn't show was the lack of amenities, the grungy feel of the place, the poor customer service, and the rude patrons. The showers were environmentally friendly and on a timer, which I usually approve of. These showers were, however, on such a ridiculously short timer that they were almost unusable. The bathroom stalls were decorated with graffiti and not the thought provoking or beautiful kind. The walls are thin and we could hear the people next door sneezing. It was crazy how well sound carried throughout the hostel. The kitchen was actually decent sized but half the burners wouldn't light. Tea and coffee is ONLY provided during breakfast which is incredibly odd to me. EVERY hostel I have stayed at in Ireland has had free tea/coffee/cocoa out all day. The refrigerator was terrifying and full of food that had gone bad. It was obvious that the staff does not take cleaning it out very seriously. Patrons did not even label their food and even put uncovered food in the refrigerator. The refrigerator was so full that it could not even cool all of the food. Our orange juice and coconut curry both went sour and we would up laying in bed sick the second day of our stay. There was a bowl of pasta sitting on top of the microwave the entirety of our two night stay. The breakfast was cereal and toast. I have a wheat allergy and dairy allergy so I had to provide my own breakfast. Our bunk mates came in very late and were incredibly rude. One woman even had the audacity to insult our intelligence simply because we were watching something she found to be idiotic. The receptionist was very quiet and yet unfriendly as well. We did not feel very welcome. This hostel has a great location but that is all it has going for it. We would not return.

Many bourbon tastings, shops, boutiques, restaurants, activities, parks in immediate area as well as stop 1 on The Bourbon Trail. Evening entertainment at 4th Street Live is right there. Spot Hero can also give you parking way cheaper than on site as well. Huge facility with many dining and drinking options. BUT, service from staff is perfunctory from check in to check out. Example : we were there 4 nights for Bourbon & Beyond music festival, in the West Tower (so maybe things are different in the East Tower). On check in, we were given a room key and told about the on site restaurant for breakfast. We have Wyndham Platinum Rewards Status. This was not acknowledged. No info on WiFi or housekeeping provided (we didn't even GET our room made Sunday when we did not décline it). We asked at the front desk if the hotel provided transport to the event. We were told to walk across the street to the East Tower to ask at the concierge. Really? You can't pick up the phone and call if you didn't know (which you should )? There was no line of people. Saturday morning asked desk if there was a convenience store on site and given instructions to East Tower. Walked over. Closed. No signage with hours. At 11:30a! Staff didn't even mention it might not be open -- and who would imagine at that time ? Finally, even with status, there is a $20/hr late check out fee on a Monday. Physical plant : halllway carpet was worn, stained, frayed. No microwave in Deluxe King room. Very poor toilet paper. Decent bath towels. No fan in bathroom. Large nice double vanity so deep, difficult to apply makeup with no magnifying mirror. The in room AC would not cool to thermostat setting or even close and there was no continuous fan setting. It would cycle on for 3-4 minutes, then stop. I know not to decrease setting too low but even set at 64 F, it wouldn't cool to 72 so hard for me to sleep. Overall disappointing.

Our Mississippi River Cruise from American Cruise Lines put us up here for a couple of evenings at the end of our cruise and we stayed an additional three days to tour Louisville. Not having to worry about a car certainly drop the stress level down a bit. We were able to walk to most places and where we elected to 'Uber,' the rides were just a couple of minutes. Our room was very nice with plenty of moving and storage space, great views, excellent TV, solid bed, good size bathroom with a wonderful shower and HOT water, and... a great view. We ate breakfast in the hotel a few times and all was good and very reasonbly prices and when we ventured out, there were plenty of shops just walking-minutes from the hotel. I ventured up to their rotating restauarant and swear I will be back on my next visit. It is beautiful and the food looks and smelled wonderful (See seperate review.). We also ate lunch at one of their restauarnat and found it very good. Our favorite place, "Jeff Rubys" was just accross the street and made dining there for the one minute walk back better then perfect. I am not sure why I see reviews under four stars. My family have been there and taken pictures for us to look and see. We had a family reunion and booked the entire place. The young parents and kids walked down and climbed back up. The common room has the kitchen and TV area. There are several tables so younger kids played games and bigger ones played cards. This is the best place to have a family reunion and book the place like we did. The sky is beautiful at night. No city lights to spoil the stars! It really brings the family together. There is a piano that can be played but several keeps are off tune. There is a large popcorn cart that makes wonderful popcorn. The camp house is divided by the kitchen. 4 rooms have a king size bed. 2 of these rooms also have a set of bunk beds. On the other side of the kitchen has bunk beds and a few include a full size bed too. There is 2 showers and a smaller kitchen. These are used for the rock climbers that come in the fall. Our younger family members stayed on this side to party longer than us older members Everyone is nice and polite. It is really a place you need to visit for a weekend. Besides the bunk house, there are other buildings to visit. At certain times there are sewing classes given. It has a big hall with comfortable chairs to sit and read. Sewing is just a sample of classes offered. A huge thanks and little sorry to Maddi at the bar for putting up with us on our last night. She was awesome as was the company of the other patrons. The rooms are small but very clean and hip. This is in line with any other Moxy I've stayed at. They describe themselves as a minimalist hotel, but you have everything you could need in my opinion. Great hotel, I'd visit again for sure.

Old style TVs with outdated channel line ups and without any of the premium channels advertised (2 HBO and one SHOW according to the guest guide in my room). Free wireless - but no Internet connection so I'm not sure why they have wi-fi? The universal machine has been out of order every time I've been here over the past 3 years. The coffee maker in my room did not work. They offer a free breakfast, starting at 6:30 am. They don't tell you that you need to be there AT 6:30 if you hope to be out by 8 am! One person takes the orders, makes the orders, delivers and cleans up. And none of it in a hurry. This hotel is about on par with a backpackers hostel. But more expensive.
