My colleagues and I stopped here to check this place out as it was on a list of places to check out in Lee County. Turns out that this place is one of the cheapest and best stays in Lee County!! One of the owners, Chuck Caudill, gave us a tour of the place and it was beautiful! It is a lodge, campground, and hostel all in one. It was founded in 1968 by two women from Ohio as a camp for young Appalachian boys and has since developed into a tourist attraction. Pine Crest has room for family reunions, hikers, campers, bikers, places for weddings, and a bath house for campers!
The prices are really cheap: as cheap as $600 to rent out the entire camp!! A camp site is $5 per person, a bed for as little as $15 a night, a room for as little as $50 a night, and the lodge for $150! The lodge has bathrooms, personal rooms, hostel-like rooms, and a living area that is rented separate from the rooms, complete with a kitchen area and TV. area. In addition, the rooms and living quarters are very clean and fresh, which is exciting for a place that is used to accommodating random visitors. For campers, there is a bathhouse and a kitchen in the main building for all to use. In addition, there are some amazing attractions in the area.
For instance, the Sheltowee Trace is a trail that leads from the lodge through the Daniel Boone National Forest to the Natural Bridge State Park. There are rock-climbing opportunities throughout the area, as well as several other sites and restaurants 10 minutes away in the town of Beattyville.
The lodge was a beautiful place to visit and a place that has incredible views from the lodgings and is also a fantastic place to getaway with family, friends, or by yourself! If you do decide to visit, tell Chuck that Cheyanna sent ya! read more
