First time visit here after I heard a lot about it. I was able to finally visit here on Friday afternoon. It is very quiet since it is cold and snowy on the ground. It's best to read a few reviews & combine the info. When you walk in it can seem overwhelming but people line up/around the area you order. There were several people taking orders & you just go up when you're ready if others are around looking/discussing what to order. You might feel rushed but take your time lol There are seats in the first room where you order, some in the back room of that & they also have a big basement (you go outside & around to access that) so don't let the first space fool you. They have a ton of outside seating too. On to the food. We all got a side salad that was fresh & a big portion. They give a small dressing so I'd ask for extra. It was our first time at the Gorge and we had to stop at the iconic Miguel's Pizza! There's a large gravel parking lot off the main road - every time we drove past it was mostly full. We went for an early dinner on a Saturday night, and the parking lot was about 75% full. When you walk up, there is a large area with large picnic tables. If you walk past the first area it leads down to a larger courtyard with a basketball court, more picnic tables, and a huge camping area. You order at the counter in the main building - they have semi traditional pizzas with a twist. They come in three sizes - 2 slices, 4 slices (half pizza) and whole pizza. Everything is reasonably priced. We order two slices of cheese and pepperoni and a whole BBQ chicken pizza. The wait was about 25 minutes, which wasn't bad with the amount of people at the restaurant. The kids took off and played basketball, foosball and other yard games while we waited. The food arrived pretty fast, and the kids gobbled up the cheese and pepperoni slices. The BBQ chicken was good but a little different - there were big slices of green pepper and some cilantro throughout. Not a lot of BBQ but we managed to eat the entire thing! It was the perfect dinner after a weekend of camping - kids were entertained and the food hit the spot! We only took one picture of a lonely slice but everyone devoured it so quickly. Of course, the pizza is the real star: I tried the BBQ Chicken, BBQ Pork, and Hawaiian slices. The BBQ Chicken might be my favorite, but honestly, you can't go wrong with any of them. Prices are reasonable - about $6 for two slices, or around $10 after tax. Four slices is basically half a pizza! The atmosphere is fun and casual, with WiFi available and lots of interesting art pieces around. You'll also find their colorful and funky shirts for sale, though a little pricey ($17 for a basic short sleeve, $25 for tie-dye, $29 for a long sleeve). The shirts run small, so you might want to size up. There's a large gravel parking lot available, but it can be hard to see in the dark, so be careful pulling in! I had heard legends of Miguel's Pizza. A MUST-VISIT if you're visiting Red River Gorge. But I did not truly understand the allure. Now I do! We stopped here last weekend, and I am now a believer. The line was outside the door when we arrived around 4 p.m. on a Saturday, but it moved fast. And the biggest thing it seems to know about Miguel's is the selection. You can choose what you want from their overflowing list of toppings. Pineapple? A personal fave! Chorizo? Delicious. Anchovies? Gross but sure. Hummus? Why not! Rice? Spiral pasta? Go for it! I didn't go quite that out there, but I did get a slice (which is really two big slices) with barbecue pork and sweet potato. And it was glorious! The crust is just perfection. This was the warm slice of comfort I needed on this early fall day. My friends and I found a picnic table in Miguel's large outdoor area, and our slices were soon brought to us. I also liked their beer list and the fact that they also had an outdoor bar for when you're standing in line or eating outside. Miguel's also has camping, so you'll get a mix of outdoorsy and glamping folks while eating here. Loved my time at the Gorge. I was hesitant to go here but my buddy really wanted to come here (due to the raving reviews). I read a recurring theme of rubbery cheese, overly greasy, bad crust, etc. We went on a Thursday at 6:30 p.m. We were one of only a handful of diners when we arrived. We each ordered a pizza and it arrived in ~ 17 minutes. My salad took 30 minutes to arrive so I took it with me after eating. The ingredients seemed fresh and contrary to what others stated, it wasn't overly greasy. In fact, I would say it had less grease than most pizzas. The first few slices were pretty good. As we continued to dine, the cheese did harden, perhaps sooner than I ever experienced and towards the end of the slice, the cheese and toppings would slide off the crust, leaving a tomato sauce covered crust. Speaking of the crust, it wasn't overcooked. In fact, it was undercooked. There were spots where the dough wasn't cooked through. The staff were friendly and pleasant. We dined inside and there were a couple of flies that I had to swat away a handful of times but not as bad as I had feared (from the reviews). The pizza is $12 for cheese only and $2 per topping which is reasonable. The size isn't listed but I would guess it to be 16" (maybe slightly smaller but it seemed bigger than a 14"). The taste was a little on the bland side. I grew up in Chicago so I know what a good pizza should taste like. Having said that, I would give the pizza 6.5/10, staff 9/10, ambiance 5/10. Our first and only time going we were met with a large area just crammed with people and extremely long lines. We finally got to the counter, the person taking our order was very impatient and rude! There was too much noise to hear the answers to our questions. We had a few questions as we had not been here before. The food was overpriced! Extremely loud here! Convenient, huge place to eat with great space in a great area, but run like a loud, rowdy, fast food joint. The pizza was hot, but the sauce and dough were very sweet and was skimpy on the toppings. Perfect stop after a hot hike. We already had cokes in our cooler and were able to drink those outside in their picnic area. We had a large Italian pizza. It was good flavor however I could of done without the noodles as a topping. We also got a half pepperoni for the kids and it was perfect size for two kids. We finally made the trip down to RRG and HAD to stop at "climber central" big parking lot, and right in the middle of it is a big tree draped in hundreds of shoes! Many crust options including a cauliflower crust with was absolutely delicious. No frills here drinks are served in cans and the pizza is served on cardboard. Everything is disposable. We stayed nearby at a campground but when looking for local places to check out, we knew we had to stop at Miguel's Pizza. We love a good pizza place but Miguel's had such a cool environment. There is seating upstairs, in the basement, and outside. We called ahead and ordered since we had 14 people. They were very accommodating and had 6 pizzas ready when we got there.
