Very nice setting to sit and take in the beauty of the hillside and sky. Nice clean place typical of Ky State Park type

I appreciate that this place is still open amidst the pandemic, and with all the restrictions they are still serving the costumers. The service was really good, our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was great! The fish and pork was perfect and delicious. However, the green beans was over cooked and it tasted funny- more like it has a meat flavor that I cannot identity. The wine was great! I just don't like that the server opened and poured the wine when she brought it on our table. I am just particular about my drinks, I like it better when it's presented to me before opening, and letting me taste the wine before putting me a full glass. I know this is not that kind of restaurant, but for wines regardless of the price I think that's the common protocol. I will set one back again to this place. Food was delicious and the place was clean.

The view from my table at the Sandstone Arches Restaurant.

Had lunch today at the Sandstone Arches Restaurant inside Hemlock Lodge in the Natural Bridge State Resort Park. The restaurant has three vertical rows of tables if you look from the entrance to the rear. The middle row was left empty for distancing purposes, then tables were seated with one left empty between, beginning with the row next to the window wall. Our party appeared to be the first that was seated directly next to another party. Our server was friendly and attentive; all of the servers we've had here have been lovely. The food arrived quickly: a Kentucky Hot Brown, a fried catfish sandwich, and a veggie burger. The sandwiches came with a side, and we both chose French fries. All of the food was good, as usual, no complaints. What I like the most about this restaurant is the view. When you walk in, to the left is a window wall that overlooks the park, which is gorgeous, and they have placed bird feeders close by, too, so you're sure to see some birds and squirrels having a snack. As we entered the Lodge, there were signs that said wearing facial masks is required indoors, but most guests did not follow the rule in public areas of the Lodge. Inside the restaurant, the guests (obviously) were not wearing masks, and surprisingly, our server also never wore a mask. The server who seated us did wear a mask the entire time, but only over her mouth. A member of my party shared that Kentucky government employees who have been fully vaccinated are no longer required to wear masks indoors, and I believe anyone working at the Lodge is a government employee. I have not verified any of this information; just sharing some possible context. Pay a visit to the Hemlock Lodge if you are in the Natural Bridge / Red River Gorge area, even if it's only to have a look around. There is a seating area in the lobby where you can relax and enjoy that view, and the gift shop is nice, as well.

It's one reason I don't go out for breakfast ~ I can make a pretty good breakfast at home. No use paying someone to do something I can do. So, going into Jackson's restaurant, a mom and pop restaurant specializing in home cooked style food, I had my doubts. Walking up to what resembled a school cafeteria lunch line only furthered my doubts. And, seeing the sheer number of different options sitting out behind the glass window only furthered my suspicions. Look, I was wrong. The food here is really good. The service is super friendly and helpful. I was so overwhelmed by all the choices I just told the lady behind the glass counter to pick me something. She obliged with a kindness that made me think she knew me somehow. She chose the chicken and dumplings, beef stew, apples, and two different types of corn bread. Now, I thought initially, and she even admitted, that the chicken and dumplings/beef stew mix was a little unorthodox, but that they were both so good I had to try them. Both were fantastic. The apples were awesome. I liked both types of corn bread. When I got up to leave, she called me over to the counter and said that since it was my first time there, I'd get a free dessert. You all, I was too full to even try. The food here is both tasty and filling. I was in Richmond for a conference at Eastern Kentucky University. So it was really convenient to stop by. But I'd say that even if you're remotely close, it's worth a visit. Don't, as I did, judge a book by its cover.

These are cut into rings , then battered and deep fried and served with ranch dressing. Probably some of the best banana pepper rings I have had in a very long time! Looking around I saw others who had ordered the burger (which looked really good) and another person had a very fresh looking salad. Others had the fish dinner, and we both decided on the fish sandwich for our lunch. You can choose from either battered or breaded whitefish. So, we ordered one of each! The sandwich came with crinkle cut french fries. There were other options that could be substituted for the fries. Also came with 2 hush puppies. The sandwiches were huge! Probably 12" long with a generous piece of fish on a fresh bun. Came with lettuce, onion, pickle, and a ripe slices of red tomato. The fish was cooked perfectly and was very flavorful. The breaded fish may have been a little heavy on black pepper, but not overbearing. If I was super picky, the bun would have been better if it were slightly toasted on the grill, but that's just a personal preference. One thing it was missing was tartar sauce (and you know me--some hot sauce). But overall, this was a very delicious sandwich and others said the same thing we did when they sat the sandwiches on our table. In unison, we all said, "Oh Wow!" It was a good thing that I was very hungry, because I was somehow able to eat it all, but next time, we will order one sandwich, cut it in half, and order an extra side of extra crispy french fries. Next door is The Hippie Hut where (if you have room) can stop by and get a delicious shaved ice or hand dipped ice cream. I fully recommend Backstreet Grub and we will be back real soon!

The moment I walked in, I loved the setup--bright, open dining areas with huge windows overlooking the hills. It has a relaxed, down-to-earth vibe but still feels clean, organized, and welcoming. Perfect spot to sit back and enjoy a good meal without feeling rushed. I ordered the chicken tenders with onion rings and green beans, and you can truly taste the homemade quality. The chicken was tender and flavorful, the onion rings were perfectly crispy, and the green beans had that classic Kentucky taste with bacon and onions. My dining partner got the BLT with homemade chips, and the portion was impressive--thick-cut bacon, fresh veggies, and crunchy chips that were obviously made in-house. The staff was friendly, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell they care about their customers and take pride in what they do. If you're anywhere near Mt.
