This a locally owned restaurant perched on a hillside just off I-75 . Friendly service and great food. Daily lunch and dinner specials. Portions are large and they never let your glass get empty. The service is friendly and the food is really good- especially the fried mushrooms, catfish, salad and okra. Upon entering I was greeted and sat at a table with a nice view. Service here was friendly and accommodating, I ordered the lunch special and an unsweetened tea. The coleslaw was brought out and surprised me with how delicious and crisp it was. I don't usually like coleslaw, but I devoured this. The unsweetened tea was lacking, actually, it tastes of mold. Unfortunately, the taste didn't go away even when I ordered a sprite. However, the tenderloin sandwich was fried and tasty. I enjoyed the fries which were crispy and hot. This restaurant needs to hirer friendlier staff who provide better service and bus the tables. We waited more than 40 minutes for BLT sandwiches. Our unpleasant waitress kept saying they had a big party. But staff was sitting at a table up front not doing anything. No one bothered to bus the tables next to us that were dirty when we got there. Save yourself the frustration and get fast food. I'm giving one star because there isn't anything lower. The BLT sandwiches had less than a piece of bacon on them and no mayo. Came here for dinner with some friends, and tried the hillbilly tacos. I love tacos. These tacos were very different from anything I had ever had, and I wasn't as crazy about them. They are made with cornbread cakes as the tortilla and topped with pulled pork, coleslaw, barbecue sauce. I didn't even attempt to pick them up, I just ate them with a fork, and didn't eat much of the cornbread cakes but I did eat the pulled pork and the coleslaw and the cornbread that was below the pulled pork. They were good, but not my favorite. Probably wouldn't get them again. We got an order of mild chicken wings for the table, and they were hot and delicious! Both of my friends had the grilled chicken with rice, and they both seem very happy with their choice and it looked good. Lots of parking, and great service. read more

We found another jewel as we travel thru Kentucky and Tennessee, the Limestone Grill. They have an extensive menu of home style favorites. We started with the cheesy cauliflower with chipotle ranch and it was delicious but a huge helping. We didn't do it justice. I decided on the chef salad and it didn't disappoint but again, huge portion. The hubby did the special which was catfish with peas (his favorite) and real mashed potatoes (I sampled and they were wonderfully buttery). We don't get south of Lexington often which is disappointing as there were several other items on the menu that I'd like to sample. I would be remiss not to give Rhonda a shout out. We were driving up the freeway heading home after a softball tournament in Chattanooga. We planned to stop for dinner after driving until dusk. My phone pulled up the Limestone Grill as being just off the highway and offering food we both would eat. As a result stopped and decided to give it a try. After not having sit down meals the entire time we were down in Chattanooga, this was my 1st real meal in a long time and 1st time in a restaurant post COVID. As a result, it was surprising and nice to have tangible menus and condiments on the table. We also did not wear masks as we are both had been vaccinated. The menu was not extensive but offered food we both ate. Hubby got a sandwich and I ordered a salad. Having been a really long day and being tired and hungry, we were glad when the food tasted good. The atmosphere of the restaurant was quite casual to say the least. It was not a diner but I think the words 'vinyl' and 'sticky' describe the place well. The staff was welcoming and friendly and I have no complaints. My salad was good. Nothing special but I did not have high expectations. The sandwich my husband got was OK. The fact he ate every bite and did not complain meant to me that it was perfectly good. Again, nothing to rave about or win any awards but a restaurant that consistently delivers a good meal at a fair price with good service is worth having in the neighborhood. If I were local I would definitely be back to try other entrees as the prices were quite reasonable and the service was good. Party of two Vally Burger and Okra, both were not bad. Frog legs, fried green tomato's and cottage cheese. Frog legs were the worst I have had in my life of eating frog legs and I am 64 yrs old. Tough like old chicken but not dry, probably cooked while frozen. Bottom half of legs were just crispy breading, no meat left. Breading was awful and no seasoning, salt did not help. Fried green tomato's were cooked okay but again breading was awful. I pulled all the breading off and ate them plain. I do not know what brand of cottage cheese but it was really good. I don't even regret it a little bit. I was in a hurry as I was on my motorcycle and trying to stay ahead of nasty weather. I went in and was promptly seated and looked over the menu while my sweet tea was fetched for me. I decided on the HillBilly tacos. Hey, ‍ I like to try new things. The reviews had been critical regarding the service, hut our server was very good and attentive. She was also very talkative which was fine, it made the whole experience very engaging and entertaining . I love the limestone bites, my wife preferred the fried green tomatoes. The chicken wing were ok, but really did not stand out, and were a little dry. My wife had the Blackened Catfish, that was cooked to perfection not to dry-but was moist and flaky. This plate of scrumpdullyishousness is available each day on the menu, but on Friday evenings, you can order the all you can eat. But honestly, the half order is more than enough for most people. Typical sides are fries and coleslaw, but can be customized to your choices. Each time that I go, I want to try something different, but end up getting the Catfish. My granddaughters love their frog legs and another friend always recommends the open faced roast beef. You definitely need to order their fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. They never disappoint! The only down side is the funny taste of the drinks because of the water provided from the local water utility. If you are super picky, take your own bottled water for your meal. Came looking for this place this morning I was the only one there on a Sunday at 11:00 but that was okay too. You have to look up or you'll miss it because the road is quick right after the 75 so it's across the street from the hotel in the Mexican restaurant. I have heard really good things about Limestone Grill. So, I decided to try it out. My family is always saying when you come back to town we go to Limestone. We stopped by on the way Somerset. We were seated promptly. The waitress was extremely helpful. We were seated at a slanted table. I think that table should be replaced. Along with a few others that were crooked. The restaurant could use a upgrade. We were told to not get a booth when we went Limestone. Because, the booths needed new cushion. I always prefer a booth. I ordered a breaded tenderloin with two sides. The tenderloin was excellent. The sides were good but they were small. My kids got a cheeseburger and fries.
