We stopped here last nite since it was close to our hotel. Had a very hard time figuring how to get into,the place, they have a large lit sign but the entrance off the street was dark and we didn't even see the drive to get there. My wife ordered a house white wine and I tried a margarita. Margarita was not very good. Very sweet and I didn't care for the taste. We asked for chips and salsa and they brought them out. We didn't care for the salsa, as it was quite runny and not much taste. My wife ordered a shrimp,taco and said it was very good. I had a Burrito Jurasca with steak. It had rice on the side with a good queso sauce on top. The burrito was good. I'd recommend both the taco and burrito. Service was good. Nice atmosphere. read more

Be aware if you dine in anywhere in Berea you will be charged a combined tax of almost 9%. A city tax of 3% and a state tax of 6%. I have a disabled father and we are not privileged to dine out often. We have been in Berea for 3 years, maybe I haven't noticed but if you're not use to it and notice this I can see it be very surprising as it was for me. There was an older gentleman with glasses that I believe was manager that handled me being surprised poorly, and brought more attention to the situation then needed as I was just trying to pay and not argue, but he felt like he needed to defend himself which made others patrons to chime in (drunk regulars) as I'm helping my handicapped father get in our vehicle. Again I told the gentleman that I didn't want to go back and forth, but he continued to not only raise his voice but made comments about me and my family to patrons passing by which only fueled the ignorance of the drunks they over served. read more

Mariachi's is excellent! It took us a while to figure out how to get to the restaurant (enter at the Red Roof Inn sign). Once there, we were very pleased. Promptly seated. Our server brought our beverages, chips and salsa quickly as we perused the large menu. My husband ordered the Polo Chipotle and I ordered a cheese enchilada and beef taco Combination plate. The food was freshly prepared and excellent. My husband was very pleased with how tasty and well seasoned his meat was. My enchilada actually had an authentic mole sauce, not that fake red sauce most Mexican restaurants have in this country. The beans and rice were also excellent. I am a salsa freak and I love their blend. It could be hotter to me and I bet if I had asked I might have gotten a hotter version. While waiting to get a haircut, I visited Mariachi's located off of Chestnut Street in Berea near the interstate exit. The restaurant is tucked away beside a motel and behind a couple of local shops. You can access it through a hidden drive just before the Prince Royal traffic light or by driving through the America's Best Value Inn parking lot. There is ample room in the parking lot and a large entrance area. The hostess sits behind a large desk, the same place you'll return to pay for your meal. She quickly seated me. The restaurant looked a lot busier judged by the number of the cars in the lot; however, since there is vast room in the dining area, people were seated sparsely. A marker board informs customers of the special of the day. For lunch, it was a two-enchilada plate served with Mexican rice and refried beans. The lunch menu was standard fare: burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, and meat combinations topped with veggies and either cheese or colorado sauce. Enchiladas, it was! A floor server brought chips with mild salsa. The portion is huge. I opted for two beef enchiladas topped with colorado sauce. The ground beef inside was cooked properly, juicy, but unseasoned. The colorado sauce wasn't savory either. In fact, it reminded me of, I kid you not, a Mannwich, just with slightly more thinned-out consistency. The enchiladas were topped with an ample amount of cheese. The beans and rice were fine, too. The rice came mixed with carrots, rice, and corn, which made it slightly sweeter than expected too. Good thing the beans were nicely salted; otherwise, it'd be a bit much. With a sweet tea, the bill came to approximately $11 before tip. If I were in the area for lunch time again, I might consider Mariachi's. The service was fine and the server was sure to bring the check quickly in case if I had to go in a rush. I don't know if I would take a special trip. I think you have to try some of the signature dishes to make that decision. All said, all good. read more

Half way thru my meal and Just looked over and found a ROACH PAINTED ON THE WALL!!!! This place is disgusting ! I told our waiter And they still charged us for our food ! Has anyone else seen this ? We absolutely LOVED the carnitas, both as a main dish and in the tacos. If we lived near Mariachi's, we would return regularly for this dish. Amazing! The chorizo tacos were also wonderful. We moved here from Texas 5 months ago and were really craving Mexican food. We got delicious queso with our chips, the salsa was good and the fajitas were good too. I was pleased with ny combo plate of taco enchilada and chile relleno. It was all quite good and our waiter was prompt and polite. My only complaint is that i cant get a damned margarita in Berea to drink with my Mexican food. Had i been able to enjoy a margarita or a Dos Equis it would have been close to perfect. Free all-you-can-eat chips with salsa, while waiting for entrees. The entrees were definitely generous and well priced. The side, particularly, the jalapeno poppers were comparative to the ones that I grew up around. The actual ones, I remember, were from Dominoes, way back in the 90s. Instilled nostalgia instantly. Went hiking then stumbled upon this restaurant when looking for a quick lunch before heading back home. It was a decent mexican meal made with fresh ingredients! They accomodate us with the two dogs on the patio and even brought the dogs some ice water to drink! Staff was attentive and kept our chips and salsa refilled. The chips were thin, crispy and just to my liking. If you are used to super salty chips, you may find these a little bland. Our meals were all considerable portions!!!! The beans and rice were traditional and well made. Actually, I really liked the beans and they had plenty vegetarian options too. My burrito had perfectly grilled and spiced beef and veggies. Sooooo gooood!!! The only unexpected part was the cheese sauce on top of the burrito. It added good additional moisture, but I don't think it is necessary as the ingredients were fresh and tender. We drove to Berea for the Hot Air Balloon event but it was canceled so we stopped in here. My daughter was looking over the menu and when it was obvious she was still deciding, the waiter said, "We close at 9." It was 8:44 so she picked something and then for 30 minutes we sat there waiting on the orders and never saw our waiter again. DO NOT EAT HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES. The food may be delicious, but we will never know. During a recent visit to Berea, my family, including a 19-year-old with food allergies, tried to eat here. We have successfully fed our child for 19 years and visited many restaurants during that time. On this trip alone, we safely ate at three other Mexican restaurants as we continued south. Last summer, while visiting the southwest, we ate Mexican food almost daily. As we always do when visiting a new restaurant, we informed the staff that our child has food allergies to determine if she could safely eat there (in this case, a simple ground beef soft taco). To our unpleasant surprise, rather than being shown an allergen/ingredient list or speaking to a chef or manager, we were dismissively told that the restaurant would take NO responsibility for food allergies and it was the allergic person's responsibility to know if it is safe for them to eat (of course it is, but how can we determine that with no information?). The staff member we spoke to repeated at least twice that it was not their responsibility and that the burden was solely on us. However, it is the responsibility of the restaurant to know what is in their food and be able to provide that information to customers so that they are able to make decisions. We had no ability to make an informed and educated decision since they refused to tell us the ingredients or even show us labels so that we could read them ourselves. The only thing they could offer us was a plain breast of chicken with no seasoning. At this point, we had zero confidence in the staff's knowledge of their own food and our ability to safely eat there. read more

(Gross), cheese sticks that were grease sticks, and my daughters ordered bean burritos with nacho cheese that was made from shredded cheese and melted in the microwave!!!
