Drove out to Richmond to meet some friends for dinner. We ordered some wings and choriqueso for an app 10/10. I always like to try wings at Mexican restaurants and they are always great. My friend ordered the molcajete and everything was super tender and it came with a house sauce at the bottom of it to give it extra flavor. It has a variety of meats and fried cheese and a cactus piece on it. Definitely big enough for two and unique! I ordered the carne asada, my piece came with more fat than I'm used to. Although the flavor was great. I paired it with a michelada and it came out a little spicy. The service was great they were on top of it. The inside of the restaurant was gorgeous too, very colorful and cozy. Seats were comfortable, overall a good dinner experience. read more

They are money hungry and screw you every chance they get. Its cheaper than most Mexican restaurants but they charge you for every little thing you change about your meal. Do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. read more

I has seen several friends and foodie folks on the interwebs talk about this "Mexican at the Mall" location, so I decided to hop out and see what the fuss was about. I judge every trip to a new Mexican place by their version of the Speedy Gonzalez. This is a taco, an enchilada bean or rice. I had the beef version of this here, while it was solid, it did not blow my socks off. Beef was seasoned well, everything was piping hot and the taste was pretty bland overall. The refried beans were very tasty and the little bit of cheese on top was a great touch! I did not care for the salsa and chips. It didn't have much zip to it or any onion or cilantro flavors that I like. Chips were thick but warm and sprinkled with salt. I was there in the middle of the day and the place seemed a little dark. Service was fast and friendly. I will give it another whirl and try something different. But there are other Mexican places I will try before I go back to this one. Will give them an shout out for putting the crunchy taco on a bed of lettuce. read more

The food here is great. Chips and salsa are delivered almost instantly when you sit down. The chimichanga and the birria tacos are the best items on the menu imo. The flan and fried ice cream slaps too. Prices are reasonable. Don't really like the way staff looks at you when you order a lot of food. I get it that it's likely not purposeful, but it still stings a little : / read more

The food here is superb, I am from Brownsville Texas and I'm used to eating really good Mexican food. These guys here are very good and so far I have had the arroz con pollo and the carnitas, both I would recommend. I will definitely be back for more. read more

Ambiance is pretty typical, but looked super clean. Server was quick to always ask if I need anything (but not too often). Although I was tempted to order Birria tacos, I've never been here and usually judge a Mexican place by the Chile relleño and cheese enchilada, I ordered lunch #1 ONLY $6.99! (Chile relleño, taco, beans and guacamole). The chips were fresh and crispy and although the salsa was super mild it still had decent flavor. The Chile relleño was good, the beans were smooth and tasty and although I don't usually order a crunchy taco (street tacos are my go to) the taco meat was seasoned nicely and I enjoyed it. There are 2 things I'm pretty picky about at restaurants... iced tea (which I did not order) and guacamole... I must say my favorite thing on the plate was the guacamole! I'm super picky about guac and ask for it on the side or to be left off completely... but theirs is amazing! I loved it, not to say the Chile relleño wasn't good, but if I ever want a snack and margarita... I'm coming here for guacamole and margaritas! I forgot to mention the margaritas were also amazing! Yum! I will be back! read more

first- the food is amazing. my favorite mexican restaurant i have ever had. the homemade chips and salsa are SO good! their salsa is exactly how i like it. very flavorful and smooth, not chunky. sometimes it is also a little spicy. i usually get pollo rodeo, which is the chicken with queso, refried beans, and rice and it comes with tortillas. sometimes i also get a side of sour cream. the portions are so huge and the price isn't bad at all. the taste is amazing. i have also gotten the chimichangas and they are amazing as well. the margaritas are also so good, as well as the fried ice cream. also, such a great lunch buffet. second- the staff is incredible. after going a few times and having amazing interactions with the staff, they started to remember me. i became very friendly with the staff and they even started to remember my order because at the time i would always get the same thing. multiple people from staff would come and talk to me and who i was with and we have even built up a friendship over years of coming back to this place. sometimes they would also bring free dishes or desserts as well. service and food alone are a 10/10! third- i love the location of this place. also, i love the feel of being in there. comfortable seating and lighting. i love that they do weekly events such as live music and trivia. i have attended both and you don't want to miss. my friends and i had so much fun on trivia night. i tell people from all over how amazing this place is and how it is the most underrated restaurant in richmond, ky. in all the years of going, i have only had to wait for a table once and that was because it was dinner time on cinco de mayo. read more

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Richmond by far. The salsa is delicious and the service is the best in town. Servers always go out of their way to make sure patrons are enjoying their meal. I've had fajita fries, fajita nachos, quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, and more and I have never been let down. Their margaritas are also fantastic! read more

My friends and I have visited many different Mexican restaurants all over the state, El Mejor was unanimously the best we have ever had. Excellent atmosphere, fast friendly service, a clean establishment, great salsa, great cheese, and great food that left us with nothing but clean plates. If you're looking to try a New Mexican restaurant, definitely give this one a try. It's more than worth it and you will not be disappointed. read more

The chips were delicious and very fresh, the salsa was tasty, it must have been Taco Tuesday because everything was Taco related, they had beef and chicken quesadillas both tasted good, a nice mix of taco ingredients and some other stuff I didn't recognize but none of it was labeled so I don't know what it was, they had 2 trays that earlier had something in them but since they never filled them while we were there I have no idea what, for desert they had cantaloupe, watermelon, peaches and orange sections which were all good the staff were efficient but to quiet, the decor is nice and the place is pretty large with a couple big TV screens and of course Mexican music. read more

Customer service really good and the atmosphere is nice & plenty of room to sit & stretch.food is really good and get plenty too

This is my new, go to Mexican restaurant in Richmond. Friendly and attentive staff. Great salsa and queso. Food is good and they have a lunch buffer starting in 2017. They have great child verde and tacos el pastor. Their kids fried chicken tenders are really good too! I'd love to smother them in some green chile .... : ) read more

Great food and I love the idea of an Mexican buffet. Been twice and the food is amazing and the service and hospitality was excellent

Cheap lunch buffet. Not the greatest I've had but for the price you can not beat it with a stick. Never ordered anything of the menu.

Finally found a Mexican restaurant with flavor. Been recommending it to everyone. A Mexican buffet is an amazing idea and the food on it is great. I have also ordered from the menu and have been completely satisfied. Love the salsa, cheese dip and guacamole. Order extra to take home. read more

Really good food and quick service. My only complaint is that the cheese dip is too salty.
