We stopped here on a Sunday after hiking around Red River Gorge. My husband was disappointed that they don't sell beer on Sundays :( But that's ok... the food made up for it! We both had burgers... delicious! Try the Garlic pepper cheese if you can! I got the plate with fries, my husband just got a burger. The plate with fries was HUGE! We shared and still had left overs. We were really looking forward to eating here after a two hour hike on a 91° day. I'd read the reviews on the Garlic burger and knew that was what I'd have. My husband and I both ordered one. He also got regular fries and I did the sweet potato. The service staff was kind and helpful. I loved the way the restaurant was set up with indoor or outdoor seating. It was clean and fresh. The fries were great. The beer my husband order was nice and cold and refreshing. But the burgers, the main part of this meal...we each did a double.....someone doesn't know how to cook smash burgers. They were cooked so hard and dried out. They had flavor but they were so salty and this says a lot. I use a lot of natural salt in my diet every day; this was overkill. But on top of my burger being cooked past well done, the salt put the nail in the coffin. I was really disappointed. A nice juicy smash burger sounded so good, and it wasn't. When ya spend almost $60 for 2 double grass fed beef hamburger and fries and one beer...we expect a better meal. Maybe it was an off day for the cook or maybe this is how they are done all the time. We weren't asked how we wanted them done, which is kind of hard with smash burgers. You need to know how to cook them. If I was to give it a "next time" I'd mention to them how I cook want my meat done. There's a lot of good reviews. Maybe it was just an off day. So consider yourself forewarned if you're looking for a juicy burger. read more

This was a delightful little restaurant we found during our recent trip to Red River Gorge. Rockhouse is an American cafe with many burger options as well as tacos, and sandwiches. I went with the Bacon Cheese Burger and fries. You could top it with a variety of toppings. I went with cheddar cheese, bacon, and mayo. The burger itself was excellent as it was juicy and flavourful as was the bacon. The fries were quite good as well. It was very reminiscent of a 5 Guys burger and fries which is definitely a good thing. The service was excellent and the restaurant was understated yet very clean and of course in a beautiful location. All in all this was a great lunch after a long, fun day of hiking. We both ended up getting cheeseburgers and they were very good. We made one of them combo and got the fries. There were so many fries we couldn't finish them all. We got a mix between the regular fries and sweet potatoe fries. The were both very good but I preferred the sweet potato ones. read more

Wow this place is amazing. Came here and ordered the cheeseburger combo with fries: half regular and half sweet potatoes. The fries were amazing, fresh, and cooked to perfection. The burger was tasty and delicious. It came with tomatoes, pickles, american cheese, and onions. I was completely satisfied with the food. I had an Ale8 for drink. I also had salsa and chips, it was delicious The only con that i see is that there is limited indoors seating and it could get hectic and take some time to get a place to sit with your party to enjoy the food. Kind of blown away. Truly in the middle of nowhere and you have to go on a gravel road uphill one way to get there and park a little ways away and possibly wait a long time but it is a great option. Only three or four restaurants in the area that are worth visiting in this has to be the top. read more

Red River Rockhouse really impressed us. It's just a burger place, but they were highly efficient and friendly. When we walked in, we saw the menu choices on a chalkboard so by the time we got to the counter, we were ready to order. The cashier taking our order was very friendly but kept the line moving. A very short time later, our cheeseburgers were delivered to our table. The beef patty and bun were good but the cheese was the star of the show! It was loaded up on the burger, then spilled over the side so the edges got crispy on the cooktop...delicious! After a fun day doing some cavern kayaking, we were hungry for some lunch. We had heard this place was pretty solid, and pretty solid it was! We got in just in time, it started pouring rain soon after. There's an area with the menu on a huge board where you go place your order, and then to the left an area where you go take a seat. We got lucky and were able to get a table. The space is kind of tight, but efficient, and the ambiance is pretty standard is the best way I can describe it. We started with some chips and salsa, and they were pretty good. For my entree I got the garlic pepper cheddar cheeseburger. It was good, but I think the title and description makes it sound a little better and punchier than what it was. The fries I got with it were also pretty tasty. My husband's little cousins got some tacos that they very much enjoyed. Overall this is a very solid food option at The Gorge, I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area. read more

Maybe a hidden gem? We arrived right as they opened at noon on a Friday and were 2nd or 3rd in line. My wife and I each got a burrito... chicken for her and pork for me. As an afterthought, we got an order of chips with red salsa and let me tell you- it was FIRE! Big chunks of onion and tomato, perfectly seasoned... just SO GOOD! And the chips were (or seemed to be) freshly made. Definitely super crunchy and not out of a bag. Then the burritos came. Oh my, they were ENORMOUS! Such a great value, and very tasty. A rock climbing vibe restaurant with very delicious food. My wife got the kids taco and kale combo for a light yet flavorful meal and I got the garlic pepper cheeseburger with fries for a heartier dish. Both were fantastic. Had an Ale8 to drink and highly recommend as something a little different to soda. Also highly recommend the Nutella brownie for the chocolate lovers. We've been here our last three trips to Red River Gorge and have yet to have a bad meal. The service is always great as well! Indoor and outdoor seating. Last time we tried the burger/veggie burger and fries and they were delicious. This time we tried their burritos - SO good! We kept talking about how it's our favorite place for food in RRG. Our first time here for Sunday lunch! It was crowded but the service was spot on, friendly and quick. We got some of the review recommended choices including beef tacos, the kids quesadilla, the hummus wrap and of course the fatty burrito with chicken! The dishes were nicely presented and every bite was fresh and melt in your mouth good! We especially love the fact that as much as can be, is locally sourced. This is great for us foodies and for the community too! Obviously the place's rep is solid because the place was full by the time we left! Kid friendly too. Plenty of inside and outside seating! Huge burritos with plenty of vegan options! They do not have ice so if you get a cocktail (we ordered Old Forrester and Sprite) they serve you as a shot and a can. If we had known that prior we would have just ordered beer. The burrito leftovers were perfect late night since everything closes early. It would be nice if they had some music playing for ambience but maybe no one does in the Gorge because it was like that everywhere we ate. read more

Hello my Kentucky love! Red River Rockhouse - this is a must-do when you're in town -- either for climbing, hiking or just a visit. The food is delicious and always hits the spot after a rigorous day! It's such dependable place to eat. I would go on back-to-back days even, as there are not too many other food places in the area. You must get the burger! What a juicy, good patty! It's everything you want your burger to be. I usually get the cheeseburger with white cheddar and all the fresh toppings - tomato, onion, lettuce. I down it with a refreshing beer (a bunch of local beers to try) or Ale 8 (which is like a sweeter version of Ginger ale). French fries you order separately. They always come in huge portions, so share fries if you'd like. It does get very crowded here. So claim your seat quickly or have someone in your party sit down first. But thankfully, the crowd moves fast and you can eventually find a place for your party. My climbing partner is partial to the burrito here. He says it's better than Chipotle! (I beg to differ, but he raves and raves about it to anyone and everyone we know!) Try the barbacoa version. It's a generous-sized burrito with plenty of rice and beans and a squeeze of lime. When I have room to stuff down more food, I love ordering their house-made carrot cake. It is soo so good with that delightful cream cheese frosting and moist cake. Usually it sells out quickly, so you have to go early for that. read more
