Yum! Cheese burger with garlic pepper cheese. And plenty of fries!

We stopped here on a Sunday after hiking around Red River Gorge. My husband was disappointed that they don't sell beer on Sundays :( But that's ok... the food made up for it! We both had burgers... delicious! Try the Garlic pepper cheese if you can! I got the plate with fries, my husband just got a burger. The plate with fries was HUGE! We shared and still had left overs. There are tables and picnic tables out front, and a partially enclosed deck area around the side. We would highly recommend!

This was a delightful little restaurant we found during our recent trip to Red River Gorge. Rockhouse is an American cafe with many burger options as well as tacos, and sandwiches. I went with the Bacon Cheese Burger and fries. You could top it with a variety of toppings. I went with cheddar cheese, bacon, and mayo. The burger itself was excellent as it was juicy and flavourful as was the bacon. The fries were quite good as well. It was very reminiscent of a 5 Guys burger and fries which is definitely a good thing. The service was excellent and the restaurant was understated yet very clean and of course in a beautiful location. All in all this was a great lunch after a long, fun day of hiking. High recommendation for Rockhouse.

Wow this place is amazing. Came here and ordered the cheeseburger combo with fries: half regular and half sweet potatoes. The fries were amazing, fresh, and cooked to perfection. The burger was tasty and delicious. It came with tomatoes, pickles, american cheese, and onions. I was completely satisfied with the food. I had an Ale8 for drink. I also had salsa and chips, it was delicious The only con that i see is that there is limited indoors seating and it could get hectic and take some time to get a place to sit with your party to enjoy the food. Otherwise, everything was spectacular and amazing, especially in the middle of nowhere KY : )

We had the braised pork burrito and the barbarcoa tacos. Food was quick and delicious. Service was great.

    That cheese!

Red River Rockhouse really impressed us. It's just a burger place, but they were highly efficient and friendly. When we walked in, we saw the menu choices on a chalkboard so by the time we got to the counter, we were ready to order. The cashier taking our order was very friendly but kept the line moving. A very short time later, our cheeseburgers were delivered to our table. The beef patty and bun were good but the cheese was the star of the show! It was loaded up on the burger, then spilled over the side so the edges got crispy on the cooktop...delicious! We don't live in the area, but I would definitely suggest people check it out when you're in the area!

After a fun day doing some cavern kayaking, we were hungry for some lunch. We had heard this place was pretty solid, and pretty solid it was! We got in just in time, it started pouring rain soon after. There's an area with the menu on a huge board where you go place your order, and then to the left an area where you go take a seat. We got lucky and were able to get a table. The space is kind of tight, but efficient, and the ambiance is pretty standard is the best way I can describe it. We started with some chips and salsa, and they were pretty good. For my entree I got the garlic pepper cheddar cheeseburger. It was good, but I think the title and description makes it sound a little better and punchier than what it was. The fries I got with it were also pretty tasty. My husband's little cousins got some tacos that they very much enjoyed. Overall this is a very solid food option at The Gorge, I would definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

Burrito that's more than twice as big as my fist. Sweet potato fries great too

Garlic pepper cheese burger. Just look at the cheesy lace hanging off the side of the burger!

We will never waste our money here again. Service was awful, appetizer burned, both duck and steak were overcooked. My meal was supposed to come with asparagus that was no where to found. When I inquired about the side, I was told that the asparagus was ground up in the half dollar size polenta cake. SERIOUSLY?? Duck portion was less than 4 ounces (mostly fat). . $45 for a tiny filet. These folks are trying to play at being a real restaurant when all they're really doing is robbing people blind with sub par food and service. One person covering 5 (yes, 5 WHOLE tables). Even on an incredibly slow night service was awful. I don't know about anybody else out there, but I don't have $200 to throw away on BS restaurants. Especially disappointing on your anniversary. Let we not forget the wines, no brands listed, that tasted like watered down crap. The only reason their Facebook says 100% recommended is because they delete any reviews that say otherwise, Trust me and skip this one. Go to Carsons, Corto Limo or Guiseppes for amazing food and service. Guess I should have ordered the hamburger. Live and learn.

Basically, it is Disney for adults. This was our first visit and we were able to secure 5 Trace Tour tickets for our group, which worked out perfectly since two others opted not to go on a tour (they had craft cocktails in the bar area! Win-win). The tour gave a nice overview of the history and the bourbon process. I plan to take one of their other tours in the future for more in-depth knowledge. The tour is free and you get a tasting of 4 of their bourbons at the end (plus a piece of their amazing chocolate.) The gift shop has everything you could possibly want related to BT. They also have nice selection of bourbons available for purchase that I'm not able to easily find in PA. On the day we visited they were giving out samples of their new RTD bourbon lemonade and their bourbon cream with root beer. Needless to say, we purchased all three of these items! We did grab lunch at the John Carlise café on-site. It was delicious and affordable. We had the Bluegrass Melt which was loaded with meat and came with chips. Their chocolate chip cookies are also quite tasty. I recommend grabbing a bite to eat here. Overall, I was very impressed with the organization of the BT tourist operations. They efficiently moved hundreds of people through quickly, while still creating a welcoming place. The friendliness of all the staff is commendable. We will return in the future!

Bruno's Spotted Hare is fantastic…read more I stopped by recently with a family member while visiting, having heard good initial things about this restaurant. The space is gorgeous; it has the dark coziness of a lodge with beautiful, wild-inspired accents. We were seated in a booth near the window: the booth was comfortable but may be a tight squeeze if two larger adults are sitting on the same side (I'd recommend asking for a table in that case). I started off with an American Trilogy cocktail and loved it; it was surprisingly smooth and easy to drink while being flavorful. We debated appetizer options but went with the sourdough bread and butters. The butters were rosemary, garlic, and sorghum, and while all were great, the sorghum was a favorite. The bread was flavorful and nicely chewy. I'm always happy to see a vegetarian-friendly soup on a menu, so I ordered the beans and greens soup and loved it. It has a very deep flavor, yet the beans weren't overly mushy. The server (who was amazing) recommended some Tabasco for adding heat, which I enjoyed. For entrées, my dining partner got the fried chicken on the server's recommendation, and I got the mushroom pasta. The fried chicken was described by my relative as a crunchy coating with a moist meat; they called it "the best fried chicken" they've had. I tasted the mashed potatoes and can happily vouch for them, as they were creamy and perfectly seasoned. My dining partner raved about the home-style green beans, too. My mushroom pasta was fantastic. The mushrooms were cooked perfectly and were flavorful without being slimy or mushy. The pasta was hearty and cooked al dente. As a pleasant surprise. I got a couple slices of bread with my pasta, too; this time topped with some cheese and seasoning. It was perfect for soaking up the last bits of pasta sauce, as I cleaned my plate. I got dessert to go; it was the cornmeal pound cake and packaged conveniently (with the ice cream separate). It was delicious even at home; the cake itself wasn't too sweet, meaning that the combination of it, the ice cream, and the honey had a perfect balance of flavor. I will try to make a special trip here whenever I'm in the area. It's a beautiful, special addition to the local dining scene.
