Stellar service and delicious food! My family and I were looking for a burger place on our way to Reno and my Uncle found this place on Yelp and it looked good! We headed over and it looked busy but there was still plenty of seating indoor and outdoors. We grabbed a table inside as it was a bit warmer outside and they had the AC pumping ! When you enter you grab a menu and order at the counter and then they bring you your order to your table. While you're ordering and before you pay, they roll out a deck of cards and if you pull the Joker, your meal is free! Love this concept! The cashier girl was super friendly and nice, I can imagine she might be the owners daughter? The owner and staff greeted tables and asked how everything was going and even refilled your drinks for you which is awesome. Some places like this want to charge you extra for another refill, not here! Our food arrived quickly and was hot and fresh. I ordered the cheeseburger with pepper jack cheese and a side of onion rings. Both were super delicious. Their burgers are messy but that's what makes them good! Ok, it's not fancy. It's comfortable, cozy and ready for you to eat a fantabulous meal! I had the steak sandwich. Gosh, if I could describe just how good it was, I'd be a food critic. Steak cooked perfectly to medium rare, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, roll that mostly holds up to the sauce. Every bite has steak in it. I didn't know what cut of meat it is, but it's so tender and delicious, it must be sirloin, at the very least. Sweet potato fries that are seasoned perfectly, are crispy, and hot! Jumped in wherever hands are needed. Wait staff courteous and on top. Food was awesome. Don't order pastrami sandwich (a Ruben) if you don't want to see butter flowing. This place has been around for a minute and you can definitely tell that they have established quite a wonderful rapport with their customers. My husband had always spoken so highly off this place and I was able to try it finally. The establishment is kind of small but it's very welcoming and cozy. The have a small parking lot and it looks like street parking is also acceptable. The have menus available to look at near the register where you order. I decided to try the Chipotle Pesto Chicken sandwich. We ordered our food to go. Right before you pay, a deck of cards is presented to you and they ask you to pick one. If you draw the Joker your meal is FREE! Such a neat idea! The sandwich was so much larger than I had expected and incredibly delicious. The sweet potato fries were a perfect pairing. I don't know who Skip is, but he raised his son, Caleb, right. Probably the best server and customer service experience I have ever received at a restaurant. While the food was great, and while Caleb had killer suggestions, I really enjoyed the conversation and customer service the most. I digged the atmosphere and the place just felt homey to me. I guess it makes sense that is a family business. Also, I loved that how they are military friendly. She ordered the steak sandwich and sweet potato fries. I ordered the macaroni and cheese bites. After you order you get to pick a card from a spread of cards. If you pick a Joker your meal is free! (Spoiler: We didn't pick him.) We took a seat at a table and our food was delivered after a short wait. The well-marinated New York steak sits covered with provolone, grilled onions and mushrooms on a soft sandwich roll. I hate to go here but You know that blissful feeling when you've got to pee really bad and you finally go and it's like such a pleasure. I hated to have to go scatological when we're talking food but that's how you feel biting this sandwich. The meat is so well cooked, so tender and so flavorful it is the best steak sandwich I've had in Sacramento. Hands flipping down. And my gf said the sweet potato fries were the best she'd eaten. I agree. Often they're mushy and lifeless. Not here. Skip does them right. Crunchy on the outside, soft inside and flavor galore! The Mac n cheese bites are unfreakingbelievable. The vegetarian patty is green which might throw you off. The soda cups are large enough to where you will not be needing a refill. Some might say the location is in a bad part of town or even undesirable. The restaurant itself is really nice and modern. There is a faux grass area in the patio which is a plus as you can actually eat at the restaurant during COVID. Restrooms are average but the sink was broken.
