My lunch date, Coco. I love a place that allows well-behaved dogs on the patio.
    Carol B.

OMG! How have I missed this place!! I have lived in the area a couple of years and have driven by but never stopped. Today, on the way home from an errand, I pulled in to have lunch. I had an amazing cheeseburger (actually cooked TO ORDER) and my lunch date had a hamburger, no buns, no condiments. Both were - by far - the best I have had in forever..., I mean forever... I will be returning often and, once I get through every single item on this menu, I will update my review. For now, get in here ASAP for yummy yummy yummy food!

    Vibe inside from my view

This is a nice, cozy burger joint in Carmichael. This is 5 stars because it's a great meal, it matches the vibe, and you get a personable experience at a decent price point. Interestingly, this recommendation came to me from someone in Chicago regarding places that I should try in Sacramento. I happened to be reviewing burger places that month, so I thought I would give this place to a try There is great seating inside. They appear to have a very nice front patio overlooking El Camino Ave. This is basic counter service with standard coca cola drink options. The food is brought out to you, which I always appreciate. Another nice. touch - the owner, can be seen walking around the restaurant rubbing elbows and kissing babies. He seems to be on a first name basis with quite a few patrons. The burger was great! Great thickness, a little pink (so, it was cooked appropriately), and a good ratio of condiments. Just a solid burger in a great, casual restaurant. I'm a sucker for waffle fries. I feel like fries can bring down a burger joint a star in my book.

    Didn't get the joker!

Great friendly service. Yes, they have let you pick a card and if you get a joker, your meal is on the house. No, I did not pick the joker. They're know for double grounded meat, and you can taste the difference in the texture. Burger was delicious and hot. They are also served with criss cut fries. It is bit far from where I live, but I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in Carmichael.

The service was very friendly! From the moment we walked in they were very attentive. We were taking about getting the beef Wellington sliders but hadn't ordered yet and they were already calling it out to the kitchen to get it started, then confirmed when we ordered, that we were getting it. Apparently it takes longer to make (probably took like 15-20 minutes to get when all was said and done). We also ordered the skips burger with waffle fries. They also saw that we didn't order anything else and easier us if we wanted to half our burger cut in half, which was super attentive of them. We sat ourselves down and our burgers came out quite quickly. The bun was soft and had a nice sheen/glazy appearance. The burger itself is default medium cooked. It was a little bloody, but the flavor was good. Overall the burger was done really well, had a nice flavor balance and came out so fresh. It almost reminded me of in-n-out in some ways but so much better. The waffle fries were very crispy and was well salted. The salt was kinda chunky! I wished I had more fries through The beef wellington came out hot and fresh. The outside is a puff pastry and theres pieces of tender beef inside. This was also very well seasoned. I didn't try the sauce but I heard it was like a vinaigrette. Restaurant was small, and busy, but there was still adequate seating. There's two bathrooms inside, they were clean. Parking is kind of limited in the lot, but there's also street parking. Overall, I would highly recommend Skip's Kitchen!

I saw a TikTok about another burger place in Sacramento area to be the best, but all the comments under it recommended Skip's! They were def right loved everything we ordered. Will be back to pull the joker! Watch.

Finally stopped in for the highlyrecommended burgers at Skip's kitchen. There's a much larger dining area than I expected from driving by and the outdoor seating is ample as well. By the time 12:15pm on a Monday rolled around there was no seating, the place was absolutely packed with happy customers. The manager, possibly the owner (or possibly Skip himself?) was super animated and helpful and greeted every single person as he ran around, making sure everybody had what they needed took orders made suggestions filled up sodas and made our dining experience top-notch. He was back at the register to take our order and explained that the burgers are served quite pink unless you order them well done where you will not see any pink. This was very helpful because at another burger place I ordered mine medium, and it seemed like it was raw, so I made sure to ask to have it done medium well with ever so slight amount of pink which it was done perfectly. My dining friends said even if the burger didn't taste good that they'd be back just because of the happy manager's enthusiasm. We ordered the mushroom Swiss Burger, the Western Burger, and the Asian salad with Diet Cokes. The Swiss Burger was the best ever, the Western Hamburger was pretty darn good. Our sweet potato fries (ordered crip) were tasty but could've been better if really crisp. The plain Asian Salad was very good( optional beef or chicken could have been added). I can't wait to come back and try the steak sandwich and to experience watching the manager's happy demeanor and awesome service again.

Well, that was delicious! I heard that Skip's has one of Sac's best burgers and got to try it for myself today. Not a ton of parking, but I had no problem finding a spot. The restaurant was full and the word that comes to mind is...HOSPITALITY! Skip's son was working the register, helped me decide on what to order, gave me a cup to enjoy a drink while I waited for my to-go order & was constantly interacting with customers & coworkers. When I got to the car, I found fries in the box with my burger, so I'm guessing that was a bonus for being a first-time guest. Or, maybe fries come with the burger! Either way, I loved it. The bun was soft, the meat was juicy and the mushrooms, swiss & bacon onion jam were sooooo good! I REALLY appreciate the nice, thick, full-sized napkins too. Seriously. Thank you Skip for providing an appropriate napkin for a juicy hamburger! I can't wait to go back!

We just finished our first visit to Skip's Kitchen, and the experience was absolutely top-notch. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and welcoming--and the food was outstanding. We ordered the Pork Sliders, Western Burger, Onion Rings, Waffle Fries, and sodas. My wife mentioned that the two Pork Sliders were on the smaller side, while the Western Burger was so generously stacked it took some strategy to get that first bite! In the end, though, we were both completely full and very happy with our meal. It was also great to see the owner actively involved, making sure every guest was well taken care of despite how busy things were. That kind of hands-on attention really elevates the whole dining experience. We'll definitely be back--next time I'm looking forward to trying the Beef Wellington Sliders!

Out running errands with my brother and he asked me to find a nice spot for lunch. Google Maps showed Skip's Kitchen was nearby so decided to give it a try. Immediate impression was positive. The owner (Skip) was running the front counter and greeting every customer that walked in. After looking over their menu we decided on the Bacon Cheeseburger and the Western burger. Both with crosscut fries. I noticed they had one of my favorite beers on tap so I ordered the Deschutes Black Butte Porter (served in an ice cold glass ) and my brother opted for a fountain soda. We picked our card from the deck (Joker gets a free meal) and sat at our table. Food arrived pretty quickly. Burgers were cooked to perfection and the fries were hot and tasty. Overall this was an excellent stop and we look forward to returning. Kudus to Skip and his team for creating a welcoming atmosphere and a place to get good food fast.

If I could give Skips 10 stars I would. This is a place I've always wanted to check out. Finally was able to visit. I noticed the guy at the counter very friendly and upbeat with the customers ahead of me. As if they were friends. He had the same vibe with me and my daughters. Extremely impressed. His name is Caleb. The owners son. In fact, everyone that walked in got a warm, friendly greeting. It was as if we were guests in his own home making sure we were all happy and take care of. I ordered the pastrami sandwich. The menu is reasonably priced. A nice surprise since most restaurants are outrageous considering the portion sizes. My pastrami was absolutely delicious. Tender meat. Perfectly seasoned. Fries hot and crispy. I will be back again and recommend Skips to everyone. Thank you, Skips, for the yummy food and 10 star service!

Today was my first time coming and I was amazed by the delicious food and exceptional service. I loved the cozy vibes this place provided. Both Caleb and Lilly were some of the friendliest servers I have ever met. I will definitely be coming back to try everything!

When Rosa sold the restaurant (formerly El Papagayo), she didn't take the decision lightly. Her dedication to quality, and respect for her loyal vegan clientele needed to be preserved. But carnivores and sports fans win here, too. This is what happens when the former executive chef at 58 Degrees and Holding Co. In Midtown teams up with a creative bartender with over 10 years' experience, one who knows that a real margarita includes actual fresh fruit. Not only do these guys have mad skills - they're genuinely nice people. Combine that with music, big screen TVs and a casual, fun atmosphere. Add in free appetizers, Whimpy Burger Wednesdays (Sorry guys, "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday" ain't gonna fly here - but good try!), and of course, scrumptious food with options for gluten-free and vegan diets...plus plenty of parking, and a horseshoe-shaped bar that encourages new friendships. Pure magic. My personal recommendations - Lady Lumps or Tofu Lumps, light and flaky choices that will make you rethink lumpia. As of this post, the current special is the Palo Tallow, flavorful fried rice featuring thinly sliced, sweet and savory Chinese sausage, topped with an omelet for added protein. Here I am almost a year later since I've last been here…read more I can say there is a huge improvement in the inventory and stock of ingredients. I was able to order the crispy pork banh mi this time. I did want to add in pate, but they were out of that. So I just got the sandwich the way it's made. It was toasted and the pork was really crispy. I enjoyed the sandwich. It comes with a side of sauce, which I poured into the sandwich. Customer service was good. Our order was taken quickly, but we waited about 15 minutes for 3 sandwiches. No one was here when we entered, but a few customers came in after we ordered. The restaurant is still the same. I think the fridge with drinks was added since I was least here since I don't remember that being there last time. There is still plenty of seating outdoors and a few tables inside. Overall, I would give it 4 and a half stars, bit still round up since I think there is still potential here. I will have to try their shakes again next time.

Your employee did cough into her hand and continued preparing food without changing gloves. You weren't present, so unless you've reviewed camera footage, I don't appreciate being told I'm misrepresenting what happened. I have no reason to make something like that up, and it was concerning to witness. And I can promise I would not say that if I did not SEE that. She probably didn't realize she even did it. Separately, I understand that surfaces are cleaned regularly, but during the time I was waiting, I observed gloves being used to touch multiple surfaces (including the register and prep areas) and then used again to handle food without being changed. That's a basic food safety issue and, frankly, it was off-putting and it doesn't matter how often you clean your counters, it's gross. per CA retail food code, gloves need to be changed if other surfaces have been touched. Have you ever gone to a subway or other sandwich shop and seen the people take the order put gloves on, make the sandwich, then take the gloves off? that's the way it should be done if not staying at the prep station. I am not sure why I ever have to explain this to you on a review on Yelp. Also, regarding the order: when two of the three sandwiches were requested without jalapeños, it's not acceptable for the one that did include jalapeños to only have a single piece. I do not understand how you are trying to justify my review by even stating that two sandwiches didn't have them. and why does it matter which sandwich had the paper stuck to it? they were all soggy and cold which is why the paper was sticking to it. At this point, it's less about the initial experience and more about the response. It doesn't feel like the concerns were taken seriously, which makes it hard to feel confident giving your business another try, which I really wanted to do. That's disappointing, because I genuinely wanted to enjoy and support your restaurant. and if your business is slammed, perhaps the wait times on online ordering should be updated to reflect this.------------ I'm really disappointed to be writing this review. I had heard great things about this place from a friend who comes here often, and I was genuinely excited to try it--especially since I love bánh mì. Unfortunately, the experience fell short from the start. I live about 25 minutes away and ordered ahead, arriving a few minutes after my scheduled pickup time. I still had to wait an additional 10 minutes for my sandwiches, and then another 10 minutes for the pork spring rolls. What really prompted this 2-star review, though, was what I observed while waiting. The staff was working quickly, but I did not see anyone change their gloves during the entire time I was there. One employee handled the register, touched multiple surfaces, and continued preparing and wrapping food without changing gloves. Another employee repeatedly wiped her nose on her arm and even coughed into her hand before continuing to make sandwiches. It was honestly very off-putting and raised serious concerns about food safety. When I was handed my order, I was told the pork spring rolls weren't ready because they are made to order--which is understandable--but I was confused why they hadn't been started earlier since I had already placed and paid for my order. By the time I got home, the sandwiches were cold, soggy, and the paper had stuck to the bread. My partner said the flavor was okay, but noted there was barely any jalapeño, which was disappointing since that's a key part of a good bánh mì. I truly wanted to like this place, but between the hygiene concerns, wait times, and food quality, it was a frustrating experience. I hope management addresses these issues, especially around cleanliness and food handling, because that's something customers should never have to question.
